Advanced navigation feature?

I thought of a possible optional feature to help navigate really long lists of artists or songs (since iPods are only getting larger in capacity.) It could be an optional setting, since it is somewhat different than normal usage.
Instead of always starting from the beginning after clicking on 'Artists', have the list automatically start from a later position, depending on where you first place your thumb to start scrolling.
So if you wanted to play a song by say Madonna, after clicking on 'Artists' you could put your thumb near the 6 o'clock position on the clickwheel. The list would start in the middle of the alphabet (which is the letter 'M'.)
You could divide the click wheel into roughly 6 segments (A - E - I - M - Q - U), that would be enough to always get you pretty close to whatever artist you wanted. Or even 4 segments might be simpler and thus easier to use.
What do you guys think? The interesting thing is that this feature would be very hard for other players to duplicate, since the clickwheel has a relatively long circumference compared to the single scroll lines in other player controls.
BTW- how do I submit such feedback to Apple? I remember there being some form or email address to submit feedback...
Thanks,
Steve

I agree!!! I would be happy if it would give the option to have an A-Z list appear once you have chosen, for example "songs". That way you could go directly to the letter you wanted. I have left feedback & encourage everyone to do the same. For those of us with 20+ GB, it would sure save a lot of frustration.

  • Where is located "Advanced/extended features in Adobe Reader" in Acrobat XI?

When you create a form and you want the user to fill it and save it with the filled data, you have to select in Acrobat Pro the menu option "Advanced/extended features in Adobe Reader".
But in Acrobat XI There is no "Advanced" menu and I can't find "Extended features in Adobe Reader" anywhere.
How the hell is it done with Acrobat XI?

I'm not sure. This one in particular has changed to some extent every time since it was first available with Acrobat 8:

  • [Nokia Maps] Unable to purchase navigation feature

On My E90, I tried several times to upgrade to "voice navigation" but failed. That was what I did as the followings:
    1. [Options] -> [Extra services] -> Add navigation
    2. [Accept] the terms and conditions
    3. [Purchase] "Navigation upgrade"
    4. The unusual part began :
4.1. Select region "Taiwan" then the application crashed and back to desktop
4.2. Select region "Taiwan/China/Hong Kong/Macau" then it shows "Please enter your personal license code, which you received at the time of purchase" and an input field labeled "CD" which you are able to key-in a license code in format "nnnn-nnnn-nnnn". Of course, I dunno what to do and stop here.
According to the official information -
Nokia Europe - Nokia Maps - Voice-guided Navigation
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4509359
There should be a screen w/ license-type selection then I will able to choose the payment method and finish the process. But unfortunately I just unable to see one. Anyone could help please?

This is strange as I usually find wifi to be the better connection to use. It is also free as opposed to paying network data charges on 3g. Anyway, the main thing is you got it to work.
Truly! I am glad it finally work properly too. I applied an fixed price package of my 3.5G network that provide unlimited packets transmission on a monthly subscription fee, that's why I just let my E90 stay on the mode instead of WiFi.
Anyway, I think the problem is not due to the connection method but the service/application itself. Before I could purchase the navigation feature of region "Taiwan", tried some other regions and one of it "triggered" the "Update" procedure. That is the first time I saw it happen which gimme a hint, so I go back to region "Taiwan" and it got an "Update" too. Finally, everything worked. Dunno if it is a tip but I think it might help if someone just meet same problem as me.

  • How Do i disable ""enable advance Printing features on windows server 2008 ""

    Hi ,
I have a windows server 2008 which is used as  a terminal server . Users at remote locations log on to this server via "" DYNDNS"" to user our ERP and company files. We use ""DOT MATRIX PRINTERS "" to print  . As we all know that ""enable advance
printing feature"" is checked by default on windows server 2008 the format of our ""DOT MATRIX PRINTOUTS "" CHANGE  which creates a big mess.
I would like to know if there is any way where i can disable this feature permanently.

In previous operating systems, that setting was for designed for  disabling and enabling GDI rendering on the server.  Since you are using a TYPE 4 print driver, there is no GDI rendering and thus this setting is not configurable.
If you would like to change this setting, you will need to use a TYPE 3 print driver that does not use XPS rendering.  Then the previous configuration methods you were using will work.

You will find the list of navigable countries using the link below. Note that this list is constantly being added to.

  • Bios Locks when going into "Advanced Chipset Features"

Hi, My bios locks up about 70% of the time when I try to go into the "Advanced Chipset Features" menu.  I've tried clearing the Cmos, and still have it freeze most of the time.  Every once in awhile It works, but its very rare.  I havnt done any overclocking or anything.  Anyone have any Ideas for me? System specs are in the sig.

Hey, thanks for the response.  I used Arctic silver Compound as directed by their documentation.  Processor temps are around 46 (c) degrees at idle in windows, so I kind of ruled out a heat problem.  Am I overlooking somthing?

What you are looking for is "NAT Loopback", most routers support this, apart from the home hub 3, which the makers have decided presents a security threat.

  • Unlocking advanced BIOS features on GT80

    Hello!
I am a very happy owner of the GT80, and so far everything works perfectly. I was made aware that you can unlock the advanced BIOS features of this machine, but I don't know how. I would like to try them and see what additional features can be tweaked.
Does anyone know how to unlock those features, like with my original MSI GX660R where you only had to hold Shift+CTRL+ALT+Insert ? hehehehe
I am particularly interested in memory clocks, CPU TDP/controls etc. Thank you!

Yes and no. Power consumption meters show that the GT80 with 4980HQ consumes around 326W total system power under load. That CPU can consume up to 80W on its own, while doing its own turbo. Intel 4720HQ can consume near 60W under same turbo conditions.
Obviously the system can take it, as it can hold this for about a minute until intel self regulates to the TDP of 47W. If we could adjust this to the same values the CPU already consume, like 60W, we could significantly improve long term performance.
If you overclock the GPU's though, that will surely consume more power. But at its current 330W psu, we have alot of headroom for the system to operate how it should without problems.
I wish we could set the TDP at 60W for the CPU. IT is quite limited right now when doing intensive tasks, often power throttling (not due to thermals but 47W tdp) and reducing its speed to 3Ghz, or even lower depending on the load. At 60W, we could maintain 3.6Ghz indefinitely.
Due to the low 47W TDP, there is hardly a difference in performance between any of the core i7 HQ processors, after 1 min of operation at full load.

  • Search and find 'open' threads: request of advanced search features

    Hello,
time is passing by quickly... Hence it happens that some threads I have started with a question / problem are still open, waiting for some further investigation etc.
However, after a few days the post has disappeared from the first forum page - and soon thereafter from my memory. All I remember is that there were a few open threads
So here is my question / suggestion for the forum: A feature to list all threads I have started but not marked as solved would be quite handy in such cases... Phrased differently, I'd like to have an advanced search capability where one can not only search for a given word, but also for certain metadata such as author, solved/unsolved, etc.
Thanks and have a nice day,
    Wolfgang
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Wolfgang wrote:
Thanks, tst, but as you concur there is no chance to find the open, unsolved threads - only solved ones... I don't mind to first use regular search, but even the advanced options don't resolve my request...

  • Are there any more advanced search features for "ctrl+f" (find in page)?

I'm very limited by the current test search features. And I'd like to see some advanced features like:
    1) I HATE that the find bar disappears all the time. I would like it to be visible all the time -- not disappear when I change tabs, or open a new tab.
    2) I HATE that the toolbar is on the bottom and not the top. All my work is done around the top of the window and when I need to enter a something in the find box I have to go to the bottom... very inefficient.
    3) I would like to search for multiple words at the same time. Currently if there's multiple words that I'm searching for in multiple tabs, I have to type in each word individually for each tab. I'm in the process of searching for five word in 20+ tabs... you do the math. Even if I could enter: oneword OR twoword OR threeword OR fourword OR fiveword... this would be very helpful.
    4) The nicest feature of all would be: the ability to highlight multiple links in a webpage and then get firefox-addon to search all the links for any of, and all of, the requested words (ie. oneword, twoword, threeword, etc) This would save me hours and hours of keying in words. AND please note: searching a specific site with google site does not work in most cases as it is not specific enough or Google is for some reason not able to search the site (the site must somehow be search while hidden from the user and then opened in a tab if there are any results -- and I would like the results highlighted).
I have been wanting this for years and am very surprised that nothing like this has been developed... maybe it's not possible to do? (But I doubt is, as I've see greasemonkey scripts that have done similar things...)

One of the problems with finding an addon like this is that I wasn't using the correct search term. I found that if I use "findbar", there are several results. Currently I'm trying out Findbar Tweak. It seems to have a few good options -- that are similar to my wishlist above. But right now I'm finding also that some of the options cause problems, some of which almost freeze Firefox... hopefully the developer will be able to improve a few of these things -- a new version hasn't been released for nearly a year. :(

    Hi,
I have just started learning JSF and I have quite sophisticated (as for beginner) web application to do. I have to implement templates, changeable dynamic navigation dependent on database content (little CMS), database access with connection pool, etc. Where can I find some source of advanced knowledge about JSF, any examples, tutorials, links. It can be even good book (definitely no basic level). Or complete NavigationHandler example just for begin.
    Thanks for any reply,
