Advanced Object Removal

Hey Everyone,
I recently got into video editing and production through my work. We were working with some multi rotor pilots to get some aerial footage of a ranch and there was a shadow in one of the segments. More so for my own knowledge then for work purposes I have been trying to remove the shadow. It crosses over grass, gravel, a cattle guard, and nears another shadow so using any kind of clone stamping or masking was proving to be super difficult. I found this youtube video for advanced object removal and have been trying to follow the steps. As far as I can tell, I have followed them to a T but am still having some issues. Without being super familiar with After Effects or with some of the fundamentals of video editing I have been at a stand still trying to figure it out.
This is what I am getting after following the video. For some reason, I can't seem to get rid of the white solid layer entirely. Im guessing it has to do with how the light projection is happening or with the camera tracking. The other large problem I am having is that the light projection seems to just be a zoom in of the second clip layer. If I move forward in the clip you can see the upper layer is expanding and getting larger instead of just playing through. Lastly, as you can see in the image, i am having some issue with the quality of the projected image. Again I'm sure this is just a simple settings change but I am not sure where to start my look for them.
I attached the video footage I was working with if anyone would like to try. Again I'm just learning After Effects and would appreciate any help I can get.

The only times I've had problems with this is if I've captured multiple formats on one tape and my batch is too close to the other format. I mean, if the run-up is starting in the odd format.
I'd hate to say go in and capture one at a time... then make sure the pulldown was removed and if not, do it manually... under TOOLS.

ADVANCED PULLDOWN REMOVAL - Problem with 60 Hours of Material

After I capture about 60 hours of material and worked for the past 3 months in a 90 minutes documentary I realized that the material was shoot in 24P advanced and was not captured in advanced pulldown removal mode! What should I do now? Should I do an online of the 90 min sequence with advance pulldown removal? What should I expect to happen? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Advance pulldown removal problem

There is a bit of info i've found about similar issues but nothing covers my scenario. I captured dvx100a 24pa footage-- but without the advance pulldown removal selected. The clips therefore all had frame rates of 29.97. I then went to tools and added the "*remove advance pulldown*".
Two different things happened to my clips. It's corrupting some clips and not others. Some worked and changed to 23.98 fps. Others instantly went offline and when I tried to reconnect the media from the capture scratch I get this:
"*File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown*" and I can't reconnect the media--that still plays fine in quicktime from the capture scratch. I have to re-digitize all the random clips that this happens to.
I'm wondering if it might be a fps and timecode issue-- or a codec issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Think I figured it out. There was a duplicate folder with the media files on two hard drives and FCP may have been trying to reference both. Deleted one folder and files went offline then when i reconnected the media and applied "remove advance pulldown" it worked this time.

Audio goes missing after advanced pulldown removal

Anybody come across this? I can't find anything in the forum about it.
I shot 24pAdvanced on my DVX-100A. Captured everything as 29.97 NTSC DV in 20 min segments. I do a DV Start/Stop Detect to get markers placed, then do an advanced pulldown removal and edit on 23.98 timeline. I've got about 100 hours of footage, and have been going along quite smoothly on about 80 of those hours.
Recently however, some clips mysteriously lose their audio after the pulldown removal! Both audio tracks are still there, but they are flatlined. All except for the first 4 or 5 seconds actually. That much audio is present. Then the waveforms show it just flatline. Recapturing the tape replaces the audio, but then it disappears after the pulldown again!
Any thoughts would be welcome

Can Mocha Pro object removal be achieved with AE CC 2014?

There's no doubt that Mocha Pro is a great program used in several major productions, but I was wondering, when it comes to object removal, can the same be done, even if it takes more time, with After Effects, and what tools in it would you use for that?

Thank you Rick for your great insight into the process. I really like Mocha, but even $400 (when they offer the 50% discount again) is not money to spend lightly, at least for me, so I really appreciate your input.
As for 3D trackers, recently I tested a few with the same footage, and the two that gave me the best results are the tracker in CC 2014, which solved really well a couple of takes that the others had trouble with, and the Blender tracker. I also tested Mocha Pro and The Foundry's Camera Tracker. I'm sure that if I spent more time with both of those I could probably get a good track as well, but the tracker Mocha gave me was messed up, and Mary told me most likely I would need to setup a lot of planes to make it work. I'll make sure to test that before my trial runs out.
But what I don't see in any tracker, which to me is something so basic that I don't understand how it's not a feature in them, is the ability to manually position trackers in a 3D space. Let's say for example that you shot something in a place where you know exactly where the origin is, and where the tracking points are, meaning the exact distance between the origin and each tracking point. You even setup markers and you do it, if possible, in a way that signifies the X and Z axes. So when it comes to the camera tracker, you can tell it, OK, this point is the origin, tracker A is exactly 10 meters from the origin, tracker B is 15 meters, and so on. You can also tell it that tracker C and D, for example, are the X axis, and trackers D and E are the Z axis. If possible, you can also tell it that trackers F and G are the Y axis.
So the tracker, knowing these things beforehand, can perform a much more accurate tracking and solving. The tracker in AE CC introduced the ability to set the origin, but other than that is very basic and the distances, when taken into a real 3D program, have nothing to do with the real distances in reality. The only one I tried that approximates to this feature is the Blender tracker, which allows to set a scale, and it gets close to what it is in reality, and it is the best tracker I've tried, because it offers a lot of manual features to fine tune. It also takes much longer to setup, but provides a lot of user control.
But if any company could come up with a tracker like that, where you enter the distances manually, I'm sure it would be far more accurate than any other tracker. Is there any tracker like that in the market?

Problem with Object removal...

In a game I'm working on, I have two levels so far. Level0 is the menu, Level1 is the first game level. I wrote a custom class that calls lots of other custom classes to manage all the MovieClips (and their children, and operate on global variables) on Level 1:

Getting into Level1 works fine and with a SHIFT-M you can remove all the Level1 MovieClips from the display list and get back to the menu.
The problem is that when I go back to Level1 from the menu after having been on Level1 once already, it is clear from the way the MovieClips are behaving that they are now being acted on by a second 'level1' object. If I go back a third time, the MovieClips are acted on by a third 'level1' object, etc.
I've been reading threads, and then seem to be saying that I need to remove all references to this object and then it will be garbage collected. I'm removing all the MovieClips the 'Level1' class operates on, what else do I need to do to get rid of it?

using delgated admin web acces i've removed that
domain. The problem is that i'm not able to recreate
it back. I still have got the message: "Entry or
value already exists"

delegated admin just marks the domain as deleted
you need to run the imadmin domain purge command to
actually delete the domain info from the directory

Object removal in moving video (use Clone Stamp or Roto Brush?)

I've been having a really difficult time trying to remove objects from moving clips. I'm attempting to remove the head off of the right most statue, but cannot find an effective way to do this... When I use the clone stamp, it tracks, but I cannot get it to blend in realistically, seeing as the color of the sky changes as the clip pans right. I also tried using a cut out image of the sky and tracked that, but that failed to blend as well...
If anyone has any suggestions for this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. I have this same issue with a couple other clips as well.

So I downloaded your video and took a look. To replace the head on the second figure from the left I simply moved to frame 250, duplicated the footage layer, used the clone stamp to replace the head with sky giving plenty of padding, set Paint to paint on all frames and then extended the paint strokes to the entire timeline. I also applied Layer>Time>Freeze Frame to the clip. Then I pre-composed the top copy so that I could use a mask to precisely cut out around the collar. I then added a Motion Track null to the comp and gave a quick motion track to the footage picking a couple of points on the second figure from the left that were below the collar. I ran a motion track, applied the motion track to the null, then parented the pre-comp to the null so that it would follow the camera move.
Took about 10 minutes. Here's a CS6 project file that uses your footage. You'll have to replace the footage in your comp and then it should work.
You could use the PSD that you created instead of all the painting and pre-comping. IOW, if you replace the pre-comp with the PSD you made at the proper frame then drew your mask and parented the PSD to the Null everything should work just fine.

Table cell objects removed by Pages ver 5.1

I created a document in the previous version of Pages, and now when I open it with Pages 5.1, it removes the objects from the table cells.
How can I overcome this? I thought I might work around by opening it in the previous version, but I cant figure out if it is still installed.

No wonder it was a free "upgrade"! Economics 101; Price = value.
Fortunately I have a pdf version, and am currently copying and pasting the objects from the pdf into the pages file.
Found the old version, thanks. BUT V5.1 "upgraded" the file and 09 can't open it.
In future will save as a MS word file, then can work in OpenOffice, at least that's free AND works!
With the problems in Mavericks also, Apple is becoming more and more like a certain VerySmallAndLimp product....

How to add an object removed from an ArrayList to another ArrayList

i m having a class Node, which has two ArrayLists:
1. my_queue
2. cq
Both the arraylists have objects of the same class Packet.
i need to search in 'cq' and remove a 'packet' and add it to my_queue
Note: the Node class's objects r implemented as array of objects
i have used Iterator for search.

First, you want to use ListIterator, not the regular iterator (get it with the listIterator() method).The ListIterator has a method remove() you can use to remove the currently selected index from the list. Then you can use the add() method of your other list to add the removed object. Simple.

Animated handwritting-object remova tool

hello i want to know if :
1)with photohsop elements 13 can i create animated handwritting using keyframes(like photoshop do)
2)and if can i remove unwanted objects like wires,persons using similar photoshop's options (removal tool -content aware fill e.t.c)

Flash is the best tool for what you want and most of it can be done once you get a handle on the basics.
For you interactivity (rollOvers / triggering more animations with mouse) you will need some actionscript but don't get hung up on that now.
There is a world of info out there. Google "animation basics in flash) you may have to weed through some garbage but you will find what you are looking for somewhere.

Copied User Object remove Mailbox ID

Not sure if this should be posted under groupwise? I created an new user account (from IManager)and copied from an exisiting object as the new user has the same job function. From Console 1 When I try to edit the new user they have the copied users groupwise account. Is there a way I can reove not dlete the copied user from the new user as it is grayed out and won't allow me to remove it

If memory serves right, just open console one, in the GroupWise view select the new user, right-click on it and some where under GroupWise utilities there is an eDir association option - just disassociate this account from the GroupWise account. You can then add the new user as a new GroupWise user.

Image Object Removed from Creative Cloud DW CS6

Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book does not correspond to the creative cloud version of Dreamweaver CS6. One of several issues is that in chapter 3 and page 88 of the book it talks about image placeholders but in the creative cloud version of Dreamweaver CS6 insert > image object > image placeholders has been removed and no longer exists. In fact, the entire image object entity is gone!

You are essentially using a book published at least a year ago for a product that changed drastically about 2 months ago.
If you had the actual disk copy of DWCS6 (Dreamweaver from Creative Suite 6), the book would work failry well. However, you don't have DWCS6, you actually have DWCC (Dreamweaver Creative Cloud, even putting the 6 in there doesn't really make sesnse anymore IMHO) which is constantly changing and is well on its way to becomming a completely different program.

Question about cutting out an object/removing white background

Hello, I will start this by saying that I am very new to photoshop. Any input will be appreciated.
What I am having trouble with is cutting a part of a picture out and the resulting white box that comes with the picture cutout. Here is what I mean.
I make a selection out of a picture and cut it out from the backround, like for example cutting a person out of a photo. I cut the person out with the magic wand and what remains is the transparent background. I then save as psd. I then place the image in INDesign into a publication with a background color of say blue and have no problems there with the cutout of the person blending into the blue background. Once the psd image is placed in INDesign I can move the image around anywhere in the publication and it blends in perfectly. So all is good up until this point. Here is where my problem is.
Say I want to paste this image into a website, like a dreamweaver page and say the website page has a blue background. I go to insert, image, and select the image psd to insert to the page. What happens now is that the image inserts cutout person with a white background box and does not blend in with the blue background like I want. The same thing happens if I insert as a gif or jpeg.
What am I missing here to paste the photo in and NOT have this annoying white background?

In Photoshop use File > Save for Web & Devices and choose the GIF or the PNG format.
Note that the PNG has two versions, 8 bit or 24 bit.
Check the tranparency checkbox.
PNG (24 bit) provides the best result but also the largest file size.

Diff between 23.98 & 23.98 advanced pulldown removal?

kind of confused here, I understand that 23.98 advanced will allow you to edit true 23.98 progressive frames, and if you just use dv 29.97 to import 23.98 footage, it will also work if you want to mix 23.98 and 29.97 footage.....but what is the 23.98 capture preset?

You must have a complicated job dealing with all these different formats and editing routines. I've managed to setup our ad agency as a single-room facility to negate the need for so much transfering, onlining and offlining and other garbage workflows.
But on to your question. I'm a bit confused about the pulldown getting added twice, but OK. A simpler way to avoid it is to keep the DVD content 24P all the time. All DVD Players prefer 24P streams over 60i with pulldown since they can output progressive footage this way. Sending your footage out the kona to a DVD recorder may have seemed simpler, but it just messed things up.
It might have been easier to just make the QT master file in 24P and send it to compressor to make a 24P MPEG 2 stream, than DVD Studio Pro it.
As for your timecode problems, I'm not sure how to help you since most of my workflow (thanks to the one-room setup) makes 99% of timecode unnecessary.

Advanced Pulldown Removal

Why can I not always capture APR in Final Cut 5 when it is selected in the capture settings? This applies to batch capturing or capturing on the fly.
Is it a buggy program or is there something I should know?
