Advanced Outgoing Settings (E-mail)

Hi- I have a two part question.
First off- is anyone in the Northern VA area having trouble sending e-mail today? (Also, I am using Cox). Just wondering if there is a server problem or it's specific to my iPhone, which was working like a charm yesterday. I am able to receive, just not send.
Also, in trying to trouble shoot, I was looking at the settings suggestions that were posted somewhere within this forum. I noticed that when I am in the Advanced Settings section of my e-mail setting, under the "Outgoing Settings" I am unable to make changes to the "Authentication" section- it is light gray, instead of black text, so I cannot even select it. The post suggested setting Authentication to Password, but I am unable to do so. Hope that makes sense....
Thanks!

If Cox does not have and support an authenticated SMTP server, using authentication for Cox's SMTP server will not work.
If you are unable to change the SMTP server settings, try a Reset which is done by pressing and holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.
If making changes to the SMTP server settings is still unavailable after doing so, I suggest deleting and recreating the account on your iPhone. Since this is a POP account, any messages downloaded by the iPhone's Mail client that are no longer available at the incoming mail server to download again will be lost. If the messages are still available at the incoming mail server, they will be re-downloaded as new and unread messages. Any messages sent with the iPhone's Mail client will be lost. This would not be a problem with an IMAP account since sent messages can be stored on the server with an IMAP account, which isn't possible with a POP account.

  • Advanced sync settings - deleting mail from Itouch not working

There's a new setting in Syncing in iTunes under Info tab that offers a chance to delete mail, bookmarks etc on my iTouch and update from puter, but doesn't work. Emails still on touch - have to delete manually. Any ideas?

Hi there-unfortunately I flagged this on here way back when the phone had only been out a few days.Nokia support were hopeless and eventually told me to take it to a Nokia shop(there isn't one locally) so I dug my heels in and they got an 'expert' to phone me. Basically the answer is you can't take them off the phone the delete from phone is useless and a waste of time because it does nothing. I have lost a lot of emails trying and the only way to get rid of them is to either remove from server too and re synchronise(which you may not want to do-like me !) or remove them on your email account and re synchronise the phone and they go. Apparently the way it connects to the server on this model it is the only way they can do it!! Complete rubbish- I like the phone but this is completely stupid. Sorry it's not want you want to hear but they do know about it and it is designed that way not a bug!

  • TS3899 Cannot send email from iPhone. Outgoing settings are correct. Checked against iPad setting which are OK and can send mail OK.

Cannot send email from iPhone. Outgoing settings are correct. Checked them against iPad settings which are OK and can send mail. What can I do?

    For IOS7.02
The user name and password are in two places. Make  sure they are correct in both locations.
    Settings>>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>your email>>
First spot is here under INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Below this is OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Select: SMTP smtp.comcast.net>> PRIMARY SERVER :smtp.comcast.net>>second location of user name and password
Here is the second place that the user name and password must be checked.
I had changed my password in the first spot, but not the second spot. I had been receiving the same error message. This fixed my problem.

  • What are the incoming and outgoing settings to set up freeserve email accounts on ipad2

I have an Ipad 2 and am trying to set up email from an old Freeserve account in the UK, I have set this up and can receieve emails but cant send emails.

After many, many, frustrating hours trying to set this up on my Dad's iPad, I think I have found a solution. Thought I'd share it in case anyone else was still perservering with a freeserve email address.
    It basically involved
    - setting up a pop3 account (Settings/Mail,Contacts, Calendars/Add account/Other/Add mail account) with pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk as the incoming and outgoing settings
    - letting it try to 'verify' those settings (which will probably fail)
    - if asked 'Do you want to try without SSL' (or similar), click no
    - Dismiss the window which says something like 'this account may not be able to send or receive emails' and save the settings as they are.
    - Go back into the account you have just set up and there should be some more settings to fiddle with - 'SMTP' and 'Advanced'.
    - In 'Advanced', switch 'Use SSL' to off and change the Server port to 110, then go back to the previous screen
    - Click on SMTP. It will probably show the primary server as smtp.orangehome.co.uk. After fiddling around with the settings for ages I decided to see what would happen if I used a different smtp server. I had previously set up a gmail account, so I tried smtp.gmail.com. For the record, this already had my email address as the user name, my gmail password, SSL on, Authenticaion as password and port as 587. Low and behold - it worked. I'm no expert but I assume this just means it is using the gmail 'route' to send an email rather than the freeserve/orange/EE route.
If you haven't got a gmail account to use, it might be worth setting one up just for this purpose.

  • HT3228 Can't find advanced tab on iPhone mail

My mail keeps dropping out of my iPhone every time I open my windows mail. I changed the windows mail option to leave messages on the server, but can't find the advanced Rabin my iPhone mail settings.  Help!

Perhaps it would be best if you could post a screen shot of your original video.  For example, open it in QT Player and hit command i. Take a screen shot of the image and the movie inspector.
All of the functions and their adjustments that used to be grouped in Geometry in previous versions of Compressor are now located in the integrated video pane of the Inspector.

  • No Internet - Cant change Advanced Network Settings

Since today some of the programs on my Mac Book Pro cant reach the internet (e.g. mail, safari) - some work (skype).
(I think this might be a corrupt port:80 configuration.)
I cant change or deleted any configurations in the advanced network settings. Every time I delete a network or change something else an click on "Apply" - its the old settings again.
    Any suggestions?

Hello Yobu & welcome to the forums.
Make sure that Skype/Growl are the most newest versions that are fully Snow Leopard compatible.
Try resetting some of the hardware involved (PRAM~NVRAM). See this Apple KB for details, etc.:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Can't hurt to try, and apparently this has helped others recently.
As well, have you done due diligence on the basics.... confirm sufficient free space on the HD; validate disk health via DiskFirst Aid, never install SL from downloaded torrents/betas, etc. Let Spotlight finish indexing; clear out old cache files and outdated/broken/duplicate fonts; find and delete related plists.

I cannot send any message, on my Outlook Microsoft: Mac 2011. Thr following message appears. What shall I do?
My connection with Internet is fine, and I can receive messages, only cannot send.
"If your IP is a dynamic one (ADSL or dial-up, for instance) please reconfigure your outgoing settings to use your ISP server."
    Best regards

See if your e-mail provider uses any different ports for SMTP, such at 25, 465 or 587.
if you're using Gmail, then port 587 will work with authentication set.

  • Blocking outgoing empty subject mails

    Hi,
I can drop empty subject mails easily on the incoming side, but how do I drop or redirect outgoing empty subject mails?

    A few things:
1 - I think you just copied and pasted the HTML content, including buttons and pull down menus - some of that output makes it difficult to understand the actual filter settings. i usually ask people to send either a screen shot, or send the output from the "outgoing / incoming content filters screen" with the "rules" view selected. mine looks like:
2 - I don't know if your second condition will ever be met:
    '^FW:$'.
Instead, I would use something like '^(i?)FW:$' (and I would even add '^(i?)RE:$' too). Here's what mine looks like:
    empty_subject: if (subject == "^(?i)FW:$") OR (subject == "^(?i)RE:$") OR subject == ("^$")) { alt-rcpt-to ("[email protected]"); }
the only reason I can think of this not working are: A) the sender / recipient is placed in the wrong outgoing mail policy or B) there is a content filter matched before hand that is bypassing this one. perhaps you could send in your mail_logs from a test message for debugging?
    thanks!

  • Command to set modify Advanced Security Settings (Audit Settings for folders) on windows 2008

    Hello,
We have requirement to modify  Advanced Security Settings (Audit Settings for folders) on windows 2008. I am looking for a command which does this job.
I know, using group policies I can do this; in fact I had done this using group policies. However, I need to do this on number of servers which are not in domain. There are around 15 folders on which I need to enable Auditing; manual editing folder advanced
permissions is a cumbersome job. Hence, I am looking for a command line options.
I need to know how command can be utilised to enable Audit option on a folder. Please share a command which can do this; once I get the command, I will create a batch file for other necessary folders. (BTW, this is not a scripting question, I just need to
know the command hence, please do not re-direct me to scripting forum)
Manually through GUI, I am setting following.. snaps are given below
    Thanks !

You can try using Auditpol.exe: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731451%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

Thanks but I guess, auditpol ca be used only to manipulate system audit policies. how do I specify a folder and user in auditpol ? I could not find or understand how folder can be included with auditpol command line options.
    Thanks !

  • How can I access Advanced Javascript Settings?

I'm aware that, in recent versions of Firefox, the ability to disable Javascript has been removed. I don't intend to re-open discussion of that particular decision. But removing that option has also removed access to the Advanced Javascript Settings menu, which was far more useful than simply disabling Javascript itself. For example, although I rarely disabled Javascript entirely (other than when debugging my own site), I routinely disabled the ability of websites to disable context menus or to move and resize pop-up windows.
Unlike disabling Javascript entirely, these are settings which provide a positive benefit for "ordinary" (non-developer) users. If, say, I want to open a link in a new tab, then the correct way to do that is to right-click on it. Sites which disable right-click degrade the user experience, and allowing a way to override that is a good thing. Whatever the justification for removing the ability to disable Javascript entirely (and I do understand it, even if I don't agree with it), I can't see any justification for removing access to these advanced settings.
So my question is, how can I re-enable access to the Advaned javascript Settings? I can't see any obvious setting for it in about:config, and simply disabling javascript entirely via that method isn't what I want to do.

The href value javascript:void(0) is a placeholder to be shown when you hover a link, so you can see that this is not a normal link.<br />
The actual action is done via an onclick handler that is tied to the button (link), so if this isn't working then this can be caused by a script that didn't run properly to add this onclick action to the button or that JavaScript is blocked on that website possibly by an extension.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Note that there is also security software that can block pop-ups and JavaScript, so check that as well.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
