Advanced Search - Can't understsand strange results

Hi,
I am trying to get my head around what seem to be very odd search results within Portal when using the advanced Search. When I search using a phrase, say
'the quick brown fox'
I receive the target page (which contains the text 'the quick brown fox') as the first and only result. That is exactly what I want to happen. However, if I omit single quotes and search for
the quick brown fox
I receive lots of results, and the target page I hoped to have returned wasn't even on the list. I am searching with the 'contains all' option. I presume the pages returned contained one or more of the search terms, but I was under the impression the second search automatically searched for the conjunction of all words, and the fact that 'contains all' is selected would suggest to me that my initial search result should be returned even if I use the second search criteria.
Can anyone explain this strange behaviour?
Thanks.

  • Advanced Search: Viewing Results Issue

    This problem seems to only be on my Microsoft Surface Pro tablets with windows 8.1.
    When doing an advanced search within a document the results box is usually very large and you can see all the hits that came back. However, on my Surface when doing a search the results box is so small that you can't even see what's showing up.
    I've tried to enlarge the search box which slightly helps but still can only see one or two results at a time and must continue to use the scroll bar to get through them.
    I was curious if there was any options within Adobe that could be changed in order to get this view changed so its more user friendly and easier to work with?
    I've been through many of the options myself but was unable to find anything that worked.
    Thanks for the help.

    As per my understanding you can crawl DL columns
    Can you get that document in search results page? Please check to see if the site which contains the library is included in content source.
    Could you please check site settings->Site Administration->Searchable columns, maybe the column is excluded?

    Go to your Search Service Application in Central Administration.
        Click on Metadata Properties in the left navigation.
        Click on the Crawled Properties link.
        Click on the Categories link then select the SharePoint category
        Navigate the pages (next page arrow link) until you see ows_Title. Click on ows_Title.
        In the "Mappings to Metadata Properties" area of this page, ensure that the "Include values for this property in the search index" checkbox is checked, then Click OK. This checkbox is not checked by default.
        Repeat the same procedure above for your ows_Description crawled property to confirm that it is included in the index - which it should be by default.
        Start a Full Crawl
    This will now include these crawled properties in the index and should now be available in the Managed Property which exposes them for Search.

  • Google Advanced Search only displays 10 Results per page in Firefox 3.6.10

    In Google Advanced Search, choose any value for Results per page greater than 10 and do a search. When using Firefox 3.6.10, only 10 results are displayed on each page of results. 10 results per page is the Google default, and the Results per page selection apparently has no effect.
    This problem also happens in Google Chrome 6.0.472.63.
    The Results per page feature of Google Advanced Search is working properly in other browsers, such as Safari 4.1.2 on a PowerPC Mac and IE 7.0.5730.13 and IE 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp3_gdr.100427-1636 on a PC running Windows XP

    Google recently made some changes to the Google search site with the addition of Instant search and that made the setting of the number of results in the Google settings to stop working.<br />
    <br />
    If Instant search is enabled on the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] page (link at the top right) then you only get 10 results.<br />
    You have to disable instant search and reload the result page and then set the number of results to your preferred choice.<br />
    It may not work if you make both changes at the same time.<br />
    <br />
    There is a link directly to the right of the Google search field on the Google results page.<br />
    That is a button with a drop down list: Instant is On/Off.<br />

  • How to add a new  search criteria in Advance Search Page in OAF

    HI,
    In my application (R12) we can access customer related information from 2 places (2 different responsibilities as mentioned below), both are OAF pages.
    1. AX receivables
    2. Sales online
    From both the responsibilities we can perform search for customer related information as well (Simple as well as Advance Search).
    But Advance Search screen from 'Sales online' allows user to perform search, based on few additional fields as well such as 'Classification' (it's an lov based field).
    Now, User is asking to add that field on search page of AX receivables as well.
    So, how to add one more field (as search criteria), on an standard 'Customer' screen?
    Additional Info :
    1. LOV is based on HzPuiClassificationFilterVO
    2. And this VO is available on both pages. (oracle.apps.ar.hz.components.search.server.HzPuiClassificationFilterVO)
    So can we achieve this by Personalization only ? if yes plz share the steps as well.
    Regards,
    Adi

    Yes. It is possible through personalization.
    1. Create a criteria row under Advance Search
    2. Create a Result Item under advance table columns
    3. Create a Query Criteria Map based on the criteria and result item above.
    Please note the newly added criteria field should be in the Searchresults VO attributes list.
    Otherwise you need to extend the VO as well.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    -Mukesh.

  • Help required to customize Simple/Advanced Search. Need to add new fields

    Hello,
    Module: Oracle Sales Online
    EBS version: 12.1.3
    Jdev version: 10.1.3.3
    Scenario:
    - We are dealing with standard oracle pages.
    - We have TWO "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH"s available. Each "Simple/Advanced Search" can be found by navigating through paths "A --> B" and "A --> B --> C --> D" . Here it means one "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH" page is available at page "B" and another "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH" is available at page "D".
    - In the first search page which is at page "B", both Simple as well as Advanced search has a filter field "Win Probability %", of type VARCHAR2/DROPDOWN with values (10, >=10, <=30, 30, >=30, <=50, 50, >=50, <=70, 70, >=70, <=90, 90, 100)
    - In second search page, referring to page "D", the Simple search DOESN'T have the "Win Probability %". And the Advanced Search page has the "Win Probability %" but it is of type - NUMBER/MessageTextInput type.
    Issue/Requirement:
    - The 2nd Simple/Advanced search pages need to have "WIN PROBABILITY %" field and it should be of VARCHAR2/DROPDOWN with values (10, >=10, <=30, 30, >=30, <=50, 50, >=50, <=70, 70, >=70, <=90, 90, 100) just like the way we had in 1st Simple/Advanced search.
    Note:
    - Again speaking we are dealing with standard oracle pages
    - If you go to the "About this Page", interestingly I found:
    i. The "message component layout" for both of them is from the same region , i.e., ASNOpptympSrchRN
    ii. Rest of the search filters for both the searchs are from common View Object , i.e., OpptySearchVO1 (for Simple search), OpportunityDetailsVO1 (for advanced search)
    iii. The "Stack layout" for both the search pages are same, i.e. XXMASOpptyQryCO
    iv. None of the fields are rendered to false (everything is set to be rendered TRUE)
    Any response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anand

    "XXMASOpptyQryCO is the name of stacklayout or CO?
    What is the CO?
    Does both pages share same CO?
    have you already extended the CO "XXMASOpptyQryCO"?
    what is the original CO then? I think in that CO it must be written somewhere, simple search "search allowed = false""
    -Here CO what you are referring is a controller.
    -FYI pages share same controller.
    -And the original controller for both the pages are OpptyUwqCO. Right now its extended controller is XXMASOpptyQryCO
    Fact is I didn't create this search page. It was built by some third party members. Also that I do not have the original source nor the documentation pertaining to it. So could you inform as in how should I navigate to the point "Search Allowed = True"
    I should have informed that at "B" page, it has a region      /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/ASNMgrOpptyQryRN and at page "D", the region is      /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/ASNOpptyQryRN

  • Search keywords on Advanced Search Box in SharePoint 2010 cleared on Search Result Page

    I migrated SharePoint 2007/Windows 2003/MS SQL 2005 to SharePoint2010/Windows 2008 R2/MS SQL 2008 system.  New system does not work just like old system and requires some configuration changes.  The search keyword
    on Advanced Search Box is appended to browser address bar instead of remain static in the search field on Search Result page.  Anyone has fix for this so it will work just like SP 2007 version?

    does it give you search results ? Can you provide us the exact string when keyword jumps to browser address bar ? Also provide browser and OS versions.

  • Filter results for New Search Criteria of Advanced Search

    Hi,
    I'm new to oaf.
    I have added extended VO item to seeded advanced search region as new search criteria by personalization.
    When i try to search for new criteria the results are not filtering and my extended CO logic as follows:
    IN PFR:
    if(oapagecontext.getParameter(oaquerybean.getGoButtonName()) != null || oapagecontext.getParameter(oaquerybean.getPersonalizeGoButtonName()) != null)
    OAAdvancedSearchBean oaadvancedsearchbean = (OAAdvancedSearchBean)oawebbean.findChildRecursive("assetAdvSearch");
    boolean flag = true;
    if(oaadvancedsearchbean != null)
    int i = oaadvancedsearchbean.getDisplayedCriteriaCount();
    String s4 = oapagecontext.getParameter("advancedSearchRadioGroup");
    for(int j = 0; j < i; j++)
    String s6 = (new StringBuilder()).append("Value_").append(Integer.toString(j)).toString();
    String s7 = (new StringBuilder()).append("Condition_").append(Integer.toString(j)).toString();
    String s8 = oaadvancedsearchbean.getOriginalUINodeName(s6);
    if(s8.equals("XXAssocMsgInput"))
    String xx=oapagecontext.getParameter(s6);
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "criteria value: "+xx, 105);
    if (xx !=null) {
    StringBuffer stringbuffer = new StringBuffer(100);
    // Setting whereClause at Runtime to restrict the query
    OAApplicationModule rootam = oapagecontext.getApplicationModule(oawebbean);
    OAApplicationModule childAM = (OAApplicationModule)rootam.findApplicationModule("XXAdvSearchAM");
    OAViewObject vvo1 = (OAViewObject)childAM.findViewObject("XXAdvSearchVO1");
    Serializable[] parameters = {xx};
    childAM.invokeMethod("getAssociateWith", parameters);
    In AMImpl:
    public void getAssociateWith(String xx)
    OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)getXXAdvSearchVO1();
    Vector parameters = new Vector(2);
    StringBuffer whereClause = new StringBuffer(100);
    int clauseCount = 0;
    int bindCount = 0;
    vo.setWhereClauseParams(null); // Always reset
    if ((xx!=null) && (!("".equals(xx.trim()))))
    whereClause.append(" ASSOCIATE_WITH LIKE :");
    whereClause.append(++bindCount);
    parameters.addElement(xx);
    clauseCount++;
    vo.setWhereClause(whereClause.toString());
    writeDiagnostics(this,"In AMIMPL whereclause:"+whereClause.toString(),119);
    if (bindCount >0)
    Object[] params=new Object[bindCount];
    parameters.copyInto(params);
    vo.setWhereClauseParams(params);
    writeDiagnostics(this,"In AMIMPL XXAdvSearchVO:"+vo.getQuery(),120);
    writeDiagnostics(this,"In AMIMPL VO Cnt:"+vo.getRowCount(),121);
    vo.executeQuery();
    writeDiagnostics(this,"After query = " + vo.getQuery(),123);
    In diagnostics, parameter is not getting assigned with the value ..
    Can you anyone suggest the inputs?

    Mallik,
    Is it the same requirement which we were discussing in another thread, to add search criteria in advance serch bean through personalization.
    If yes, let me try at my end and will let you know..

  • How can i manual create a "advance search"?

    There is a poplist in the page, and a named "Add" submitButton beside it.
    When I click the "Add" button.
    I need to create a Bean which is named from the text which is selected in the poplist.
    Now, I have two problems:
    1.I select a text from poplist, then click the "Add" button. At the first time, I use to setForwardURLToCurrentPage() to create a new Bean. But at the next time, no matter which I select any text from poplist, I only get the text which is selected at the first time. The poplist and "Add" button in one MessageCompontentLayout, and the other compontents (consist of creating new Bean) in the other MessageCompontentLayout.
    2.when I create a new Bean, how can I save the Bean which I have created it at previous time.
    This function just likes "Advance Search".
    waiting for your help. thank you in advance.

  • How can I get a LOV to work in the advanced search area

    I am using JHeadstart 10.1.3.3.
    We are doing a LOV lookup on User-id. When the user selects a user-id or just starts keying in a user-id I have my Jheadstart code to pull in the full-name whenever the client selects a new user-id or starts keying a userid.
    Under UserId we have the following definition
    PersonIdentitiesLOV
    UserId <= UserId
    FullName <= CombinedName
    We set up PersonIdentitiesLOV so that "Use LOV for validation" is set to true.
    When I tested my code, in the advanced search this is what happened:
    1) When the client selects a user-id the FullName field gets populated
    2) When the client just keys in the user-id then the FullName DOES NOT get populated.
    Someone told me that there is a bug in JHeadstart in 10.1.3.3 where if you turn on the "Use LOV for validation" then it does not get executed in the Advanced Search.
    How do I get around this problem.
    If this does not work then how would it be best to display the full name whenever someone keys in a user-id. We are using this full name display for auditing purposes at the cashiers wicket whenever someone keys in a userid and does not recognize the person. We want the full name displayed along with userid for verification purposes.
    Any idea on how to get this working?

    This is not a bug, it is intended behavior.
    In search fields you might want to search for parts of the name, using a wildcard, that's why the auto-complete is not working there.
    If an end user wants to search the complete name, he can use the LOV to pick a value.

  • This is a question about the iTunes Store.  I have the correct artist, title, composer, and album name for a song popular in the 1970's.  The store's Advanced Search feature can't find any of the information.  How can I get Search to find the song I seek?

    What can I try if the store's Advanced Search strikes out trying to find the song I want?

    Perhaps the song is not available in MP3 format, or isn't available in the iTunes Store, or simply not available in your country. (A Norwegian band's first album from the 1980s became available in MP3 format only in April 2012; an example that not everything is automatically is available in MP3 as soon as possible.)
    ... and before any wag says, or even thinks "it", yes - the Norwegian band's album is very good! (Still waiting for their second album, from 1982, though!)
    You may be surprised at how often a song or album is not available because of "contractual problems" - in other words, someone's being greedy, difficult, or both. (Another album I like, from a UK band of the 70's, was unavailable for a long time because - and I'm quoting the band's leader - "the copyright owner wanted too much money for the album to be on CD.")
    You could try looking for the song in other stores. If it's not yet available anyhwere, you'll just have to be patient. You could try contacting the band via any websites they have, and asking them about it's availability. What's the song? Perhaps I (or soemoen else) might be able to confirm it's availability on MP3 from another source.
