Advanced search optioncolumn for google search lost in Firefox 10

On upgrading to Firefox 10 the advanced google search option column which provides options to restrict google search results by date has disappeared in Firefox 10. Now I have to use the old approach of clicking advanced search, then date and then the time period I'm interested in. This doesn't happen in IE9 or Chrome.

I am not entirely certain what you are seeing, but it is possibly more likely it is an option you have changed with Google yourself. Possibly you need to ensure cookies are enabled for the google site.
Are you seeing this problem when you go to a Google Website by using a bookmark or entering an address into the location bar, or are you having a problem with the searchbar ?
Maybe if you attach a screenshot of the IE9 and Firefox Google search screens it will help others understand what you are seeing.

  • Cmd+Shift+L shortcut (shortcut for google search) not working in 5.1

Cmd+Shift+L shortcut (shortcut for google search) is not working after I upgraded Safari to  5.1

Has anybody figured a way of restoring this?
Not broken here, still working fine as always. Have you tried repairing permissions or creating a new user account and seeing if the problem persists there? It's an issue with your install, as a guess. Working fine on all the Mac's around here with Safari 4.04

  • Shortcut for Google Search (Cmd-Shift-L) Linked to Newsfire

I recently downloaded the now free RSS reader Newsfire just to try it. I didn't like it that much compared to NetNewsWire, so I trashed it with AppZapper, thus deleting all the files related to Newsfire.
Now every time I try to use the shortcut for Google Search on a selected piece of text in Safari (Cmd-Shift-L), it tries to link to Newsfire and add a new feed. This is highly annoying and worst of all, I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
The Newsfire site has nothing on it as far as a forum or an email to Dave Watanbe. I've heard the criticism that he's gotten in the past over the way he handles his business, so I've decided to try to fix the problem through these discussions.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I fixed it myself with the free Onyx program for Mac.
If you reset the Launch services Database under Maintenance, it fixes this issue.

  • Have Firefox home page set for Google search, but each following tab opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo and have Google home page on every tab????

As I said above: I Have Firefox browser home page set for Google search, but each following tab (but suddenly now it) opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo search off the added tabs and have Google home page/ blank tab (like it used to be) on every tab????

The new Firefox Start Page - '''about:home''' - isn't the same homepage that was used in earlier versions of Firefox - http://www.google.com/firefox There is no "setting" for the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" - in the Options UI or in about:config .
Set that old "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" as your "homepage". <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
Or open your Profile folder and delete the '''webappsstore.sqlite''' file and hope the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" returns to Google. When it '''''is''''' Google, the Google logo appears to the left of the "Search Container"; when the search engine there has been changed to something else, there is no logo to the left of the "Search Container" - AFAIK.

  • Help preparing site for google search

Hello. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help me or if I will have to contact google but I am trying to figure out how to prepare my site for Google Search. Right now my site does appear in the search results but not how I would like it to. In the screenshot below my site is The Official Website of Fab Hollie. I do not want the "About" and the "Contact Us" pages to show up as they are child pages and not parent pages. Is there anything I can do in Muse to prevent this or is it a google thing?
I know this is probably a google thing but I would like my search result to display with sitelinks like the example below. I'm new to the whole google webmaster thing so I'm not sure if there is a way I can prepare my site for this in Muse?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This will be done by Google, Try to use demote sitelink option in Google Webmaster, and see if that helps

  • DEFAULT Heading, Title, Main Text...for google search result??

    Hi,
Every pages when we added in iWeb it'll come with some default Text Box shown as
*"Type a heading for your webpage here", "Type the main text for your page here", "Type the title for the page" ...*
Do the above default text box helps for Google search result?
Any other useful purpose for that?

What bout Adding a Text Box? Isn't the same thing of the Default Title Box? Or it must be place at the Top ? or it already pre-set for search engines?
You could find out if its the same thing by doing the following:
Add a text box to your home page, publish your iWeb site to a folder, click on +"Visit Site Now"+ and then in Safari do +View > View Source+. Then look for the title tag that the article talks about:
    <title>Your title here</title>

I have the same problem and found this somewhat helpful "workaround" on the Google site:
    Google Toolbar Known Issues
When you attempt a search from the search box on your Toolbar it may not allow you to select items from your drop-down list of web history or search suggestions.
As a workaround, try using your keyboard to navigate the drop-down list to select your web history or search suggestions.

  • Firefox(20.0.1) is ignoring my proxy server for google searches from website and the search box. It works for all other search engines and chrome/safari.

    firefox(20.0.1)
squid (port 3128) and dansguardian (port 8080) not running in transparent mode.
I am applying blacklists and a custom url regex to apply "safe=vss", this works for all browsers and all search engines except firefox using google search engine.
Search engines tested (bing, yahoo, norton, ask, amazon, avg, ebay) - all work.
Links from the search results are blocked by content filter, but search results still appear and google images are still shown. This does not happen in Chrome(23.0.1271.97), IE9(9.0.8), Opera(12.14) or Safari(5.1.7) with the same settings.
No log entry appears in Dansguardian access.log implying proxy settings are being ignored for just this combination.

I can't think of a reason that one particular webpage would behave differently from all the others, i.e., if you are starting at google.com and running a search using the form in the page, I'm not aware of any reason for Firefox to handle that specially just because it's Google.
Does it make a difference if you disable JavaScript when using Google? If that yields the results you expect, perhaps Google's XMLHttpRequest AJAX traffic is bypassing your filters?
The search bar has its own code, so someone would need to look at that to see whether/why it bypasses your proxy if the above hypothesis does not apply.

  • Disappearance !! of the 3 search options for Google (French / Belgium / web) in the opening page. There is only one possibility. Big disadvantage!

I have changed no options in my browser but in recent days, my home page Firefox does not display the three usual options of Google search (ie: French / Belgium / web). There remains only one possibility which is undoubtedly the French option.
It is a great drawback that prevents the target areas of research!
