Advanced voice editing options in new iMovie

Hey guys, I'm currently using iMovie 9.0.8 right now because it allows me to edit my voiceovers. When I updated iMovie to 10.0.1 I noticed that these options were gone, or I just can't seem to find them. They have simple editing options to voiceovers but not what I'm looking for. I'm also not looking for another program such as audacity. I was wondering if any newer versions have this, final cut pro has this, or if I'm missing it. As you can see in the picture I have the equalizer custom edited.

I don't have iMovie'13 (vers 10.0.x)
But as I read about it it is like Apple new products since iMovie HD6 and FinalCut 7.
New products - some new and may be good functions - BUT also sever loss of old and IMPORTANT tools.
I do not understand why one would up-grade to a less functional version and even pay for it. But this is the new twist to developnig new products.
AND as You see - lot's of basic functions got amiss in version 10.0.x
- this audio tools
- Chapters
and so on

I was told that my new imac with Lion could burn dvds..so I bought it..now have finished editing a wedding in iMovie full of HD stills mixed with video from a non HD SonyDCR-SX63.. just saw the scary question.. "Where is your iDVD? How do I make a DVD?

If you are still within your 15 day return period. Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge. (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

I had no issue putting in my new Apple ID everywhere else, I could sign out of the old and inactive account and then sign back in using my new and proper one. However, after the update to 7.3 it did a whole welcome to yr iPad and a set up thing and it went to set up iCloud and had my old Apple ID in grey where I can't change or edit it, it wants the password, when I put in the old password, it say yr Apple ID is incorrect but yet it won't let me change it??????? Anyone???

Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

Where can I find the editing options in iMovie?

I think I may have hit the 'x' for the editing options (transitions, title pages, etc) but I can't figure out how to get them back. I have looked at all options in the menu, and I have shut down iMovie and reopened it, expecting it to be back to the way it was. Anyone know how I can get the options back? I use iMovie a lot to edit videos for my sign language classes and I really need the editing options.

New ipad 3 & transfering & editing HD video in imovie....

I LOVE the new ipad 3 and want one. My question is...with the iPad 3....will you FINALLY be able to transfer HD 1080p video shot with a canon dslr like the T3i to the ipad via the Apple cam kit....and then BE ABLE TO EDIT THAT VIDEO IN IMOVIE?!!!! Lol
Thats all i wanna know. Love my ipad 1st gen....but skipped the ipad 2nd gen cause it couldnt do this. I am a photographer/videographer/blogger who travels alot, and I LOVE the form factor of the ipad and all it does.
But this is the one sticking point for me. I know there will always be things a laptop or desktop can do that an ipad isnt meant for....however...Tim Cook keeps stressing about a "Post PC world"....and this is a real world application. People shoot high quality video with dslrs and would like to edit that video while on the road. It seems like the umbilical cord has been cut btwn the ios devices and computers with the icloud and syncing....but not being able to load and edit video directly onto your ipad keeps the device stuck in the umbilical cord days. I find it very annoying.
The new retina display and faster speed make it the perfect device to edit videos while on the road. I just hope i will be able to upload my 1080p video shot with my canon dslr directly to my ipad and edit it in imovie. I dont want to have to wait to get home to my imac.

iPad only plays AVIs that conform to this spec:
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
I am not sure what iMovie will edit though.
Once you open iMovie and select start project-you should be able to select video from camera roll.

What type of email account is it ? As far as I know it only works with IMAP accounts (it doesn't work with my POP account), and you should get an Edit button at the top of the list of folders that are currently on that account.

In iMovie's Project Library view (where all your projects are listed), click on the name of your project (don't double-click to open it, just single click to highlight it).
From the Menu select File > Duplicate Project. A copy of your project will be placed in the Project Library. It will have the same name as the original, but with a number appended. You can rename it if desired - click on its name twice (not double-click) so that it is highlighted as light blue, then over-type it.
Delete from the duplicate all the clips and other media (for example, photos, music and so forth) that you don't want included in the first of your 15 minute segments. In other words, delete all but the first 15 minutes.
Continue creating duplicates of the original (and rename if necessary). Delete from each duplicate all the unrequired parts for each segment. So, for example, for the 2nd duplicate delete the first quarter (15 minutes) and the 3rd and 4th quarters.
You should end up with 4 duplicates with separate names, each containing the required segment. You will also have kept intact the original one hour movie, which you may wish to use independently of YouTube (maybe for burning a DVD or playback through a Media Player).
Note that duplicating the original project will not take up much extra space on your drive. Projects reference (link to) the associated Event (or Events) in the Event Library - they don't actually contain video as such. The project file also keeps track of titles, transitions, effects, music and so forth that you've added to the project.

Help? Can I edit, voice over, combine videos in iMovie HD?

Or do I need to purchase iLife and get iMovie '09. I kinda would like to get the new iMovie '09 - can I just upgrade to that when I only have iMovie HD on my Mac? Or will that not work?
And I'm having a hard time editing videos in iMovie HD - does it have all those same capabilities or do I need the new one. So confused.

Hi Robyn - now that imovie HD has been superceded, the original video tutorials produced by Apple have been replaced by ones for the latest version. So here are some found on the web:

NOTE: these are actually for iMovie HD6, which has a few minor differences from your iMovie HD version, (eg. Your one has no 'Themes', and the method of previewing Photo editing is different). but most of the advice applies equally well.

Is new Mac mini sufficiently powerful to edit HD video in iMovie?

I am considering purchasing the new Mac mini and would like to know if it is powerful enough to edit HD video in iMovie imported from a mini-dv-based video camera now that it has the GeForce 320M. Any insight is much appreciated.

Thanks for your responses. HDV is the format my camcorder uses. The main thing I was trying to determine is whether the new Mac mini (and it's new NVidia hardware) had enough computing horsepower to handle the HD video. My current, first generation Mac mini grinds to a halt when i try to do anything with HD but is fine for SD.

On the "old" Firefox I could copy a section of a web page and tranfer it elsewhere. The new Firefox has an edit option but it always greyed out and unusable. Why can't Icopy a part of a web page??

I try to copy a UPS shipping tracking ID code so I can transfer it to the UPS tracking web site--but the edit option on the Firefox is always greyed out and will not respond when selected--doesn't work. Therefore I have to copy the code on a piece of paper and then go to the UPS web site and type in the code. It was a lot easier when I could copy the code and transfer it to the UPS page>

That Edit menu in the Firefox menu button should have three icons (Cut, Copy, Paste) that are enabled if there is text selected or something is on the clipboard. The arrow at the right of the Edit item will open the Edit menu.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

Office Web Apps - How do I get Excel and PowerPoint to show up as options for New Documents?

When I highlight a list of documents, a ribbon shows up at the top. The left most action is "New Document". Despite running and installing Excel and PowerPoint services, the only option that shows up is Word. How do I add Excel and PowerPoint to that list?
I have confirmed that I am able to upload, view and edit Excel and PowerPoint. I just cannot find a way to add them as options in New Document.

Create Content Types, same as in 2007.
In a nutshell... Create a content type based on Document and add a PowerPoint template. Go to the library and enable Content Types in Advanced. Add the new content type to the library's list of content types. The New button will now contain the name of this new content type.
Repeat for Excel.

Cannot open my old mov. files with new imovies 10.0.3

I went to open a .mov file I wanted to re-edit and only Quicktime was given as an option. I've tried to create a new event with the new imovies and that isn't happening either. How to do either of these simple things would be appreciated.

The new iMovie is only going to accept certain formats and codecs. You should re-export or re-save your movie files from QuickTime to a new format. You may notice a "(converted)" in the title bar of some of your movies as they are opened in QT. QT is now converting movies into more "acceptable" codecs as it loads them into memory.
After export, they should be acceptable in iMovie.
