Advancing Gaming Giants-MSI! Me @ 2015 MSI Gaming Computex Press Conference~

Working in an exhibition design company, I had the chance to witness the MSI 2015 Gaming Computex Press Conference. Though I play on-line game occasionally, I kinda like the Gaming products of MSI. One of my classmates gave me a MSI Gaming mouse with LED indicators, it’s gorgeous and handy!
By curiosity, I Googled MSI before the conference. Found out that MSI focused on Gaming Notebooks and high level mobo and graphics for decades, now it is sort of an international gaming leading brand. Its gaming products are definitely dream gears for professional eSport gamers. Seems this company is really something.
After I got the job done, boss allowed me to watch this conference. Stepped into the hall, I saw the giant size dragon mascot. And there was a photo sticker machine and a claw vending machine; everyone couldn’t refuse to stop steps to the entertainments.
In the conference hall, there were demo sections of MSI gaming series products. Variety of high level notebook, mobo, graphics, AIO, desktop, and etc. are all here for the participants to try out. More and more participants came and got to know the latest products of MSI.
The seats were taken very soon by the presses, vendors, and employees. I located myself at an inconspicuous corner to observe the event. In a while, the lights dimmed, and the conference started officially.
The main stage was designed in red, black and white colors, the 3 elements of MSI Gaming, and decorated with the MSI Gaming Dragon shield. Several pretty models went up to the stage one after the other to show the latest products to the crowd.
One more highlight of the conference was MSI senior managers and professional speakers to present the new products and new technologies. After that, several important IT companies introduced their cooperation with MSI. By this way, MSI products look really taking comprehensive advantages.
Everyone was focus on listening to the introductions. I was also very touched, and admired MSI branding much more.
At the end of the conference, MSI announced hot news. The MSI BeatIT gaming tournament which MSI held for 5 continuously years is renamed to MSI MGA (Masters Gaming Arena) global gaming tournament. In cooperation with world leading gaming company, ESL. The regional qualifiers start in June, and the global final will be held in August in Seattle, USA. Holly…! This is really a big enterprise; hold the global event out of the ordinary.
The whole conference showed the determination and effort of MSI on Gaming products and the industry. Really impressive.
At last, here’s one picture of the MSI products and the long leg models to thank you for reading this article.

    Conclusion
26 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Only 10 are included in this report. 2 third party drivers have been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:
atikmdag.sys (ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.)
atikmpag.sys (AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.)
If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.
Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.
Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

  • MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming Twin Frozr - GPU_Z Speeds not right

I've just purchased the MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming Twin Frozr which is supposedly spec'ed at 1020mhz GPU clock from factory.
however, running GPU_z reveals that the GPU clock is 980 mhz only. seems like 40mhz less than stated in the product details?
what I did do is messed with MSI GamingApp and when i chose the "OC" setting it went to 1020 mhz.
    is this expected?
I was under the impression that it would be 1020 mhz as baseline without any sort of application tuning etc...
    thanks in advance.

The card works as it should. Just refer to the product site:
    Quote from: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/GTX-780Ti-GAMING-3G.html#overview
1020MHz Core (Boost Clock:1085MHz) (OC Mode)
980MHz Core (Boost Clock:1046MHz) (Gaming Mode)
876MHz Core (Boost Clock:928MHz) (Silent Mode)
     3072 GDDR5 7000MHz Memory
The baseclock of 1020 Mhz is only enabled using oc mode of the Gaming APP while the Gaming Mode is the normal clockrate it would run at even if not using the Gaming APP. Of course you could still oc with Afterburner while at OC mode and up the clockrate even further or you are just using an oc tool like Afterburner to adjust the clockrate completely manually.
The APP doesn't change any voltage settings. The voltage is determined by the gpu using Boost 2.0 (up to the maximum Nvidia boost voltage).

  • MSI R9 280X 3G Gaming artifacts and freezes

I just bought a 2 month old MSI R9 280X 3G Gaming card. After I installed the card my PC didn't POST, so I went into the bios and resetted everything to default. Then again my computer didn't POST. I checked the bios switch on the graphics card, it was set on position 2, I switched it to position 1 and my computer booted into Windows. I installed the catalyst drivers and started to play some games. It went quite bad, I had artifacts, game crashes and overall bad performance.
I read out the bios version on switch position 1 (the one that does work), this is ver. 015.040.000.000.003435. I flashed the bad bios version on switch 2 which was version 015.040.000.003.003435 with 015.040.000.000.003435.
After the flash I was able to boot windows on switch 2. Still I do have performance issues with games, like artifacts and game crashes.
    My S/N is 602-V277-38SB1312093272.
Can you guys help me out with this?
    Thanks in advance!

Alright, I tried to flash my bios to E7681.430 with the USB DOS tool available on this forum. After my computer booted the USB stick, I was prompted to do a memtest. It hanged, so I wasn't be able to memtest before flashing.
I download the last version of memtest86+ 5.01 and tried to memtest test 5 and 7 for 20 loops, it passed with 0 errors, so it seems my system is stable. Then I copied your provided BIOS to my USB stick and tried to flash it with M-flash in my current BIOS. M-flash wasn't able to recognize this file, so I won't be able to flash it.
So with not be able to pass memtest (only my own downloaded memtest86+ v5.01) from the MSI Bios Flash Dos tool and not be able to flash a new bios with M-flash. I'm not sure what to do next, I won't try the Windows flash option, because of this https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=177335.0  topic.
On the other hand I looks like I need to update to version 4.3 for me being able to use the r9 280x card.
Can you give me any advice about what steps to take next? Thanks in advance.

  • Spotlight/Gaming Sweetie Bianca made her MSI Brand Ambassador debut

(MSI eSport News Report)2014 MSI continuedto popularizing the global professional Electronic Sport (eSport) and made every effort to supporting the worldwide selected eSport gamers and eSport teams. Last year MSI sponsored a popular female eSport player Jane Bianca N. Yao, also known as Mski. Biancake, as our first ever homegrown brand ambassador in Philippines. Bianca is now only 16 years old, a student from the university in Manila. Now let’s find out more about her in our exclusive interview!
Hello Bianca! Congratulations to you on becoming the MSI Philippines brand ambassador! Kindly introduce yourself to our global users.
Greetings, everyone! I'm Bianca. I am currently a college student taking up Mass Communication. I am a scholar and an incoming sophomore. I used to be a competitive DotA player but decided to quit after MineskiTV recruited me as a shoutcaster for the coverage of Mineski’s events and an anchor in MineskiEsports News Weekly.
    Link to http://www.youtube.com/user/MineskiTV for MineskiEsportsWeekly.
How does it feel to be MSI Philippinesbrand ambassador?
I am really grateful that MSI Philippines picked me as their brand ambassador because at the end of the day, I just see myself as a regular player like everybody else. I feel so blessed to be given this kind of opportunity because to be honest, I never expected this. That is why I always do my best to prove MSI and to MSI followers that they picked the right person to represent their brand and remind myself that I have to stay as the same Bianca Yao that they liked when they picked me. A gamer, a responsible student, a girl who loves eSport and loves MSI. I will forever be thankful to MSI for the trust that they have given me especially during the time that I was just starting as a shoutcaster.
MSI has a full range of gaming products, what is your favoriteproduct and functionso far and why? What elsedo you want to try in thefuture and why?
I have unboxed and tried many MSI products but for me, the one that stands out the most is my MSI GT60 gaming notebook! Back then I had doubts in using a laptop for gaming because here in the Philippines, we usually use desktop computers to play. However, after my first MSI GT60 experience, all those doubts vanished because it was the best gaming experience that I had as a gamer. The fact that I can carry MSI GT60 around in school and photo shoots while being able to play during break time is really something else. Before, I usually go to cyber café to play but now that I have MSI GT60, I can still play at home whenever I’m too busy to go to café and truth to tell, MSI GT60 actually performs better than any other computers I tried in any café. It’s hard for me to pick one feature because I love almost every feature in MSI GT60,but I guess if I were to choose one, my personal favorite is the Turbo Boost feature because when I activate it on my MSI GT60, I get over 80 FPS (Frame per Second) in DotA2 at max settings and this way I am able to play The Queen of Pain which is my favorite hero very smoothly, and myMSI GT60remains cool even while I’m playing it for a long period of time.In terms of the new products surprise me. I just unboxed the MSI GS70 Stealth and it was awesome, it is the thinnest and lightest 17" gaming notebook that I have ever seen so far. I’m sure MSI has more surprises in store for us in the future. I can’t wait!
    eSport team Mineski-DOTA shoutcasterMski. Biancake.
“Support me so I can carry you!”
As a female DotAplayer, what is your favoriteeSport role and why?
Originally, I played the support role because that’s where everyone starts as it’s a role that requires less mechanics but I wanted a bigger role and eventually, I played carry for HappyFeet-Chix. I was a tri-lane carry back then and used heroes like Slardar that help initiates fights. What I love about playing this role is that it requires a lot of guts and timing because you know that your initiation will decide whether your team will lose or win in a team fight. As the saying goes, “Support me so I can carry you!”
What is your favorite eSport team and why?
I’m pretty biased but of course, I love Mineski-DOTA and MSI-EvoGT. These are two of the most popular teams in the Philippines. I love Mineski-DOTA because they are the ones that started it all. If it wasn’t for them, the eSport scene here in the Philippines wouldn’t be like this.I love MSI-EvoGT because I personally know the players and meet and talk to them a lot during photo shoots and meetings and I love how passionate they are towards gaming. Whenever I’m around MSI-EvoGT, I feel so lucky that I’m surrounded by so many players who gamers look up to in their respective communities and share the same passion as I do towards eSport. We can talk nonstop about games and tournaments. In terms of International teams, I like The Alliance. Because they’re doing it! I love how they won against Na’Vi last TI3 (3rd The International DotA 2 Championships). I watched their last game against them via Livestream and I can’t believe what and how it happened but they won.
As a shoutcaster forMineski-DOTA, what do you do to get ready for anupcoming big event?
I play DotA and watch a lot of DotA vods(video-on-demand) so that I can be updated with the META and new terms of course. My Mineski family has always been supportive of me, they always guide and help me in shoutcasting especially Tryke and Lon because they are the first professional shoutcasters in Philippines.
Top: Bianca in campus with classmate.
Bottom: Bianca performs on stage; has her make-up and photo shoot.
“I keep in my mind that there is a real world outside the gaming scene that I should prepare for.”
As we know, you are a gamer, a shoutcaster, a model and a singer, and you are now still a student! Tell us how do you deal with all thesedifferent characters?
If you really love what you are doing, you have to be disciplined and you have to know your priorities. I tell myself that I should set my priorities. I make sure that I don't have school work left behind before playing DotA. I keep in my mind that there is a real world outside the gaming scene that I should prepare for.MSI has always been there for me and that helped me a lot, especially with my MSI GT60 which helped me in my studies and playing. Gaming is my way out of stress.
    What is your expectationfor 2014?
I hope I can go somewhere out of the country because that’s something that I’ve never done in my life and of course to pass all my subjects. I hope that one of our top Pinoy teams get to the international because that would be awesome to watch.
All your fans are looking forward to see you again soon in the upcoming public activities! Tell us your plan for 2014?
Fans can always catch me in MineskiEsportsWeekly; it’s a show that features news and current events about eSport which is aired every Friday. You can also see me in MPGL DotA 2 that happens every 4th weekend of the month in MI Shaw. Lastly, in the upcoming MSI events for gaming that I can’t tell yet.
    :o
Finally, is there anything you want to say?
First and foremost, I would like to thank MSI Philippines for giving me this opportunity. To Ms. Marian, I love you so much! Thank you for all the advice and support and for always being patient with me. To my family,my friends and my Mineski familyout there! Too many to mention! Thank you for the patience in teaching me how to be a good shoutcaster and also to be a better person. Thank you for guiding me with what I'm doing and being good to me, always giving me pieces of advice, guiding me not just in gaming but in life in general. Thanks to all my fans, I wouldn’t call fans because I see you all as my fellow gamers. To all gamers and players out there, choose MSI!To my number 1 fanmy mother, thank you so much for your support, effort and guide! Thank you for waking me up whenever I have an event. It feels so great that you’re always more excited than me whenever I get projects. Thank you for being so supportive. I know that you’re the one who viewed my videos the most. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Thanks everyone!

  • Request UEFI GOP VBIOS for MSI R9 270 2G GAMING

Hi. Could I get the latest UEFI GOP VBIOS for my MSI R9 270 2G GAMING please?
    Serial number:602-V305-03SC1403016731
    Current VBIOS:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68221291/Pitcairn.rom
    Many thanks

Yes, you can. Use the attached.
Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (100.rar) and put the included file (TV305MH.100) on that stick.
Rename TV305MH.100 to 100.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 100.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • MSI Wins Best Budget Gaming Notebook on PC Gamer

Just looking through the various gaming news outlets last night and I came across this little award for the GE60 2PC Apache.
The MSI GE60 Apache uses an Intel Core i7-4700HQ, a quad-core 2.4GHz Haswell processor—the exact same CPU found in our favorite $1800 gaming laptop. The Apache’s Nvidia GTX 860M with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM is only a single step down from the 870M graphics in our main recommendation. It ships with a 15.6-inch matte 1080p screen, a 1TB HDD, and 8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM.
    http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/09/04/the-best-gaming-laptops-1/4/

My advice is what do you want from those laptops.Example:I would just want the best gaming performance for the amount of money i have at my disposal.Just do your homework between the models to suit your needs.I myself have the GX70 because i wanted an all AMD gaming solution.MSI builds some great gaming laptops. Its not a solid answer like buy this one or that one.Its more of a step back, and see which one is the best for my needs approach.Hope this helps.

  • MSI Radeon R9 270X GAMING 4GB and GOP UEFI vBios Flash?

I'm thinking about getting a MSI Radeon R9 270X GAMING 4GB for my HTPC since it's kind of shorter and was wondering if MSI provides a GOP UEFI flash for it or if it's capable of doing so?
    Thank you.

the card has 2 VBIOS's and some have one that is Legacy and another that is GOP already (others have a Legacy and a LN2) so its a 50/50 if it has it out the box!
if it doesn't there will probably be one available as the Rx - 2xx have been around a while now!

  • Playtech took a look at the MSI GS30 Shadow with Gaming Dock

Playtech, the MSI reseller in New Zealand took a look at the MSI GS30 Shadow with Gaming Dock.
    The overall impression was positive
So.....another MSI notebook to consider .....
my gosh....how difficult to make a purchase decision....
    Quotes
"The GS30 was described as thin and light impressing them with its look and overall build quality. The CPU, 1080p antiglare display, RAM and storage were all high points in the tiny package.
Playtech TV also loved the touchpad and keyboard on the GS30 Shadow making for easy use. The Gaming Dock was easy to use and using both the MSI GTX960 and MSI GTX980 cards to do benchmarks they were thoroughly impressed with the scores across the board.
MSI Dragon Centre, SoundBlaster Cinema and the System Control software were all bonuses making for easy use, overall they felt the laptop was well built with a great screen, keyboard and touchpad. While the entire package was a cool, interesting idea which can be appealing for users who want a super portable notebook during the day and a high performance gaming desktop at home."
    Some screenshots

Docking is a brilliant idea, but my boyfriend is gamer and an engineer, he is trying to look for independent laptop for its high performance. Does anyone know where can I find independent one from docking?

Anyone know the TDP of this board?
In a comparison it looks practically identical to the 125W G46-970a.  Except the G46 has a sound optical out--the features list says the Gamer board doesn't--and the board pics confirm that.  Board looks to have better software than the G46--possibly better sound output, maybe.
