Hi Babu,
Apart from the links provided these are also additions for sp13

Some mapping programs require additional data from an application system to map messages to each other. Furthermore, you may want to reuse existing mapping routines from an application system.
It was previously only possible to read values for/while executing message, Java, or XSLT mapping programs from a global value-mapping table. Also, If you wanted to execute calls to an application system during a mapping, you could use the Java Connector (JCo), for example. Calls of this kind are known as lookups, and were previously only visible in the program code of the mapping program. This Support Package Stack contains a new API for the mapping runtime that enables you to execute lookups for message mappings, Java mappings, and XSLT mappings (J2EE Engine).
•        The lookup API contains methods for generically accessing application systems by using the RFC, JDBC, and SOAP adapters. Also included is a special API for the JDBC adapter, which simplifies the procedure for accessing application systems.
•        You configure the access procedure by using a communication channel in the Integration Directory.
•        When configuration is complete and the runtime is active, you can test lookups that are part of a mapping program by using the test environment of an interface mapping.

  • What are advantage and disadvantage for Physical Standy and Logical Standby

    HI,
What are advantage and disadvantage for Physical Standy and Logical Standby configuration?
    Thanks
    Ken

    Logical standby database
The key advantage for logical standby databases is that they're opened read/write, even while they're in
applied mode. That is, they can be used to generate reports and the like. It is indeed a fully functional
database. Also, additional indexes, materialized views and so on can be created.
However (this being a disadvantage) not all datatypes are supported.
Oracle (or more exactly the log apply services) uses the primary database's redo log, transforms them into
SQL statements and replays them on the logical standby database.
    Physical standby database
A physical standby database is a byte for byte exact copy of the primary database. This also means that
rowids stay the same in a physical standby database environment.
Oracle (or more exactly the log apply services) uses the primary database's redo log to recover the
    physical database.
A physical standby database might be opened read only; however, the received logs are in this case not
applied. When the logs are applied, the database is not accessible (it is then in a managed recovery state).

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages for the larger blocksize and for

What are the advantages and disadvantages for the larger blocksize and for the smaller blocksize?

    Smaller blocksize
    Advantages
GoodHas relatively large space overhead due to metadata
    (that is, block header).
Not recommended for large rows. There might only
be a few rows stored for each block, or worse, row
chaining if a single row does not fit into a block, for small rows with lots of random
    access.
    Reduces block contention.
    Disadvantages
Has relatively large space overhead due to metadata
    (that is, block header).
Not recommended for large rows. There might only
be a few rows stored for each block, or worse, row
chaining if a single row does not fit into a block.
    Larger blocksize
    Advantages
Has lower overhead, so there is more
    room to store data.
Permits reading a number of rows into
the buffer cache with a single I/O
(depending on row size and block size).
Good for sequential access or very large
    rows (such as LOB data).
    Disadvantages
Wastes space in the buffer cache, if you are doing
random access to small rows and have a large block
size. For example, with an 8 KB block size and 50
byte row size, you waste 7,950 bytes in the buffer
    cache when doing random access.
Not good for index blocks used in an OLTP
environment, because they increase block contention
    on the index leaf blocks.

  • I currently have a Macbook pro 10.6.8 and i'm interested software upgrade What are the advantages and disadvantages for upgrading my software.

Ok... the only reason why i want to uprade my software is because of StarCraft 2. For those that don't know, Heart of the Swarm is coming out this March. I've been eagerly waiting for this expansion. I just read that SC2 HOTS will not be able to support any software below lion. I currently have 10.6.8 and i was wondering what are the disadvantages and advantages (aside from being able to play this expansion) of upgrading my software? Are there any draw backs, etc.

Go all the way to Mountain Lion if you can...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
    But...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
    you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.

    Also, get more RAM...
You can use this Link to check which RAM is suitable for your Mac...

  • Advantage of PERIOD FOR clause in 12c

    Hello,
I'm trying to understand the new PERIOD FOR clause in 12c. After reading several examples and documentation however I'm still not sure about its advantage. What can PERIOD FOR do that I cannot achieve with using a WHERE clause on normal start and end time columns?
    Thanks!

I'm trying to understand the new PERIOD FOR clause in 12c. After reading several examples and documentation however I'm still not sure about its advantage. What can PERIOD FOR do that I cannot achieve with using a WHERE clause on normal start and end time columns?
It can do a whole lot more than what you can achieve yourself. If it couldn't Oracle wouldn't have invested so much time and money in it. (I'm pretty sure they knew the WHERE clause solution was already available )
What 'several examples and documentation' are you talking about? Post links to EXACTLY what you read.
The Oracle documentation discusses the topic pretty thoroughly.
Did you read ALL of Chapter 5, Managing and Maintaining Time-Based Information, in the VLDB and Partitioning Guide?
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e17613/part_lifecycle.htm
That chapter is extensive and has some examples of using ILM and even Heat Map and ADO to implement ILM.
Did you read the 'Temporal Validity Support' section in the Database Development guide?
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/appdev.121/e17620/adfns_design.htm#CACHEBFC
Temporal Validity Support lets you associate one or more valid time dimensions with a table and have data be visible depending on its time-based validity, as determined by the start and end dates or time stamps of the period for which a given record is considered valid. Examples of time-based validity are the hire and termination dates of an employee in a Human Resources application, the effective date of coverage for an insurance policy, and the effective date of a change of address for a customer or client.
Temporal Validity Support is typically used with Oracle Flashback Technology (described in Chapter 16), for queries that specify the valid time period in AS OF and VERSIONS BETWEEN clauses. You can also use the DBMS_FLASHBACK_ARCHIVE.ENABLE_AT_VALID_TIME procedure (described in Oracle Database PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference) to specify an option for the visibility of table data: all table data (the default), data valid at a specified time, or currently valid data within the valid time period at the session level.
Temporal Validity Support is useful in Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) and any other application where it is important to know when certain data becomes valid (from the application's perspective) and when it becomes invalid (if ever).

  • Advantages and disadvantages for having the central purchasing organization

    Hi all,
Cud neone list out the advantages and disadvantages of having central purchasing organization.
and what is the best practice of selecting the puchasing organization.
    Thanks

    Hi
<i><b>Cud neone list out the advantages and disadvantages of having central purchasing organization.</b></i>
Rather than asking for the advantages and disadvantages it will be helpful if u see why the functionality of having the purchase organisation centrally and decentralised has been provided in SAP. I hope u have seen the help file in ur SAP about purchase organisation.
The point u can note down which will be of importance is <b><i>Each purchasing organization has its own info records and conditions for pricing.</i></b> if u go for the centralised purchasing organisation say in company code u have three plants and purchasing organisation is for all theree plants, then the conditions and inforecords holds for all the thrre plants. If u go for the decentralised say for each plant different purchse organisation then each plant has its own inforecords and conditions. This is upto the business requirement which u should select.
Similarly u can use this logic for the following cases
Each purchasing organization has its own info records and conditions for pricing.
Each purchasing organization has its own vendor master data.
Each purchasing organization evaluates its own vendors using MM Vendor Evaluation.
Authorizations for processing purchasing transactions can be assigned to each purchasing organization.
All items of an external purchasing document, that is, request for quotation, purchase order, contract, or scheduling agreement, belong to a purchasing organization.
The purchasing organization is the highest level of aggregation (after the organizational unit "client") for purchasing statistics.
The purchasing organization serves as the selection criterion for lists of all purchasing documents.
Here u can apply the logic and see how centralised and decentralise purchasing organisation effects. Whethe u want the data should be applicable for all plants then go for centralised if not go for decenralised.
<i><b>what is the best practice of selecting the puchasing organization.</b></i>
I think there is no best practice as such and it depends on how u r company business works.
I welcome the comments from experts if there is any best practice.
    Thanks

  • Can't find Deskjet Ink Advantage 4615 drivers for Windows Server

    Hi,
We've just bought a Deskjet 4615, mostly to work as a backup for our Laserjet and to have a multipage scanning capability.
This All-in-One would be connected to our server (Windows Server 2008 Foundations R2), so it would be accessible via TS.
However, although the printing and fax drivers work, the scanning one doesn't. I can't even install the software which came in the CD.
    Any help on this matter?
    Kind regards,
    - Ricardo

    Hey rcorreia,
If you are looking for the .inf files and cab files for the install package, then these can be extracted from the .exe file one downloads.  You could try downloading the drivers you mentioned and use a program such as 7-zip to open the archived file.  Inside you will find a SETUP folder containing these .inf files and cab files you are describing.  These may not work with your system, but this is how you can access the file types you are looking for.

  • I'm currently running NMS4.15p7 and it is quite stable. What would be the advantages to go for iMS 5.1?

You'd want to review the IMS Release Notes and documentation for a complete picture of what's different in IMS. There are a number of things that jump out though.
Aside from NMS nearing the end of its life-cycle, IMS is more stable. It's built on a foundation of both Netscape Messaging Server and SIMS.
It includes server-side rules that can be selected by a user to apply to their mailbox or by the administrator to apply server-wide, using the very flexible SIEVE language.
You can also easily integrate other software such as a virus scanner by using the conversion channel. You can filter MIME-Types, scan message bodies, and so on.
In 5.2, you'll be able to use the Webmail Multiplexor similar to the POP and IMAP MMP in 4x. Domain hosting, user provisioning, security and message store management are far better in IMS.
IMS is also the go-to product if you're looking for a Unified Messaging solution or expecting to scale-up your current deployment.
There are dozens of other benifits to IMS, but there are too many to list. The best way to decide if it suits you is to read through the Admin Guide and possibly the Provisioning Guide and then install it in a test environment yourself to really feel it out.
The learning curve for IMS is a bit steeper as it is a more complex product and there are more components to interact with and configure. You will have to thoroughly read the documentation available and do a trial installation and deployment before using in the real-world. But once you get over that bump, it's a very powerful server.

  • Windows to Linux Migration advantages for 10gR2 database

    Hi
My client currently on windows environment,
now they want to migrate OS to linux.
So kindly help me to identify the advantages of migration to linux.
    Regards
    Shaik

    833192 wrote:
Security wise what are the advantages available in Linux comparing with windows? Not to say that Linux is not targeted. But the basic advantage is that less attacks are aimed at Linux, than Windows. The latter is the de facto desktop o/s and as such is the taller tree that catches more of the wind and weather.
Besides that, both o/s's needs hardening after installation. Like Windows, Linux has a feature set that protects privilege programs against attacks (data/code injection) by unprivileged programs. It is called SELinux where SE stands for Security Enhanced.
Linux's default firewall is iptables and IMO a far better piece of software than the default Windows firewall. I even use iptables as a NAT load balancer for RAC.
How good security is, is however not about how "good" the o/s is. It is about how well you understand the risks. It is about how well you address these risks.
In other words, the only safe server is one without a stiffy drive, tape drive, DVD/CD drive, without any NICs, locked in a vault and thrown into the Puerto Rico Trench in the Atlantic ocean. ;-)
Any specific advantages are there for maintaining oracle database on linux environment? That would be a major issue in my environment. The Oracle servers I support are scattered across a very wide area and 1000's of km apart.
I need things like access (via various firewall) to Oracle servers, the ability to tunnel connections, persistent console sessions, a means to run GUI programs, powerful shell scripting, the ability to dynamically load and unload kernel drivers and a host more...
And Linux does this the best for me.
Disadvantages of windows for maintaining oracle database? That again depends on your environment and requirements. There are many Oracle sites that are very happily running Windows.
In my environment - Windows would be a major limitation. For example, in order for db-to-db connectivity across networks I've written a shell script that creates a tunnel between these servers, and configured that script as a kernel respawn daemon - meaning that should the tunnel die and script terminate, the kernel will detect that and auto restart the script. (Oracle RAC's high availability daemon is run the same way on Linux)
To do this in Windows? The Windows o/s is like a car with the hood of the car welded shut. So it requires a lot more effort to get certain things done and working. With Linux this is not the case. Heck, you can even build a kernel that are custom tailored for running your Oracle database and storage/network/interconnect drivers and nothing else. With Windows, just changing the HAL is a big deal.
The usual reaction I get when saying that we use Linux is along the lines of "+Linux is not as robust and scalable as heavy weight commercial o/s like Windows or Solaris or <insert-name-here>+".
And in actual fact, the reverse is true. The only robust and scalable o/s on this planet is Linux - if we go according to Top500.org that lists the o/s families of the biggest, baddest and fastest super computers in the world. 459 out of these 500 are running Linux. That is 91.8% of the world biggest and fastest clusters. A mere 5 (1%) are using Windows.
Bottom line is that Linux is more than just capable. It is not inferior to Windows - especially not when vast majority of the most advance computer systems in the world are running Linux and not Windows.
