Advantages of using a Data Template over an RDF

Hi All,
Can anyone help me to understand what are the advantages of using a Data Template over an RDF while developing an XML Publisher Report ?
Regards,
Shruti

Hi Sruthi,
you can merge n number of SQL Quries in a singe Data Template.
suppose you have column say Partner Name in which u have made Prompt. now lets say based on the partner name prompt, fileds need to change in the reoprt ie; (different sql Quries) in this case we can use data template.
Thanks,
Chintu

    Are there any advantages of using Secure Empty Trash over regular Empty Trash?

    If you are going to run around with sensitive files on your file system, you might be better off using a whole disk encryption so that every file is encrypted, any deleted file contains encrypted contents.  As long a no one can access your files using your encrytpion keys, all your data is secure.
    Also secure delete is not really going to do much on a Solid State Drive, and again whole disk encryption would be a better choice.
    For a moderate amount of data, secure erase does not take too much time. But if you have a ton of file and/or a few really large files to erase, secure erase can take a long time to complete as it is doing multiple pass to write and overwrite the file's storage with patterns of data that make it extremely difficult to recover the original data.  That takes time.
    Finally, if you have been updating a document, previous editions may have been given over to free storage as new versions are written, such that when you decide to erase the file you may only be doing secure erase on the most recent copy.

  • Advantages of using PI 7.1 over PI 7.0

    Hi All,
    I need to suggest to my client, the advantages of using PI 7.1 over PI 7.0, so that we can use the same for our development.
    Please dont send me the links from SDN, just suggest the advantages.
    Useful answers will be rewarded.
    Regards
    Ranjit

    Hi,
    PI 7.1 will be in rampup then - not global availibility
    when it will be available you will get an upgreade guide as always
    Currently PI 7.0 is only available for real time implementation. You could have the version of PI 7.1 from SDN, but that not for the real time implementation. Its limited only for individual usage.
    There is huge difference between PI 7.0 and PI 7.1.
    1. PI 7.0 is the part of Netweaver 2004s and PI 7.1 is key entity in eSOA.
    2. PI 7.1 have various mapping Enhancements as well as reusability of UDFs across the mappings etc. which is not available in PI 7.0
    /people/william.li/blog/2008/01/02/sap-pi-71-mapping-enhancements-series-share-user-defined-functions
    3. PI 7.1 comes with the concept of folders for more flexibale and Organized way of developements.
    /people/william.li/blog/2007/08/07/using-folders-in-pi-71 -- Folders in PI 7.1
    4. Advanced adapter engine is used in PI 7.1, which have overcome the various communication related limitations of previous versions

  • Advantages of using Oracle with Unix over Windows server

    Hi there,
    I want some article/document which depicts the advantages of using Oracle with Unix (say HP-UX or Solaris backend). Actually the plan is to use some Data Warehousing applications using Cognos Poweplay, ReportNet and either Decision Stream of Cognos or Oracle Warehouse builder may be used as ETL tool. For Data mining applications we are planning to use SPSS Clementine. The Data volume will be substantial one. At present we are developing some prototype in Windows 2003 advanced environment. We are plaiing to use Risc server and RAID-5. Pl. advice some ideal architecture for us, as you know, it's typically a Govt. level application data (mostly archival data). The reports will be published using Report Net, Adhoc query etc, OLAP analysis will be done using Powerplay.

  • Are there any advantages to using a Data Value Reference for LabVIEW Classes?

    Hi
    I recently came across an example where the developer had used a data value reference for the class cluster in LabVIEW.
    What are the advantages of doing this?
    Doesn't the use of LV objects already avoid the creation of multiple copies of data thereby reducting memory usage?
    Thanks
    AD

    LabVIEW's OOP is implemented as a By Value.  This means, as Tst stated, branches in wires could mean copies in the object.  The DVR is a way to make it By Reference.

    Dear All,
    Right now i'm working on an ITS mobile project, we generated the html templates in our internet service using the ITSGENMOBILE4(recommended) generation style, but the screen looks disorganized. but the same screen generated using MOBILE generation style looks fine. So, Could anyone guide me of whether to stick to the MOBILE generating style or to use MOBILE4 generating style?

    Depending on the particular features required, you'll potentially also be adding software onto OS X Server as well, possibly something such as OwnCloud.

  • What are the advantages of using Mac OS X over Windows 7?

    Thank you.

    I just would like to know what makes a windows 7's user willing to switch to Mac OS.
    Everything we say that Mac OS X does better will sound like fanboy hollow self serving praise of Mac OS X, because based on the written description you will be thinking to yourself that Windows can do that.  And a description that is very detailed will bore you (and everyone else) to sleep.
    You really need to spend time playing with Mac OS X.  If there is an Apple Store near you, go in, and spend several hours playing with one (or several) Macs over several days/weekends.  As long as the store is not too crowded the store staff will let you play as long as you like.  They will help you play or go away if you ask nicely.  I've spent hours in a Apple Stores, sometimes just playing, surfing, comparing, and sometimes talking to the staff when one wonders over and asks if they can help me.
    As to why some people switch.  Sometimes it is frustration with Windows.  Sometimes it is the bloatware installed on the systems by the manufactures that the users do not know how to get rid of.  Sometimes it is the basic App Suite, such as iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, etc... (iMovie really does make it very easy to generate family home movies).  Sometimes it is running away from the constant Malware and paying over and over again for an anti-virus package (although I'm told the stuff shipped with Windows these days is pretty good).  Sometimes it is because a family member forced it on them (Mac using kids that are frustrated trying to support Mom and Dad; Mom being 300 miles away can be a bummer with the system is out of service).  Sometimes they get a iPod/iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch and see how nicely it works, and start to wonder if maybe other Apple produces are this well made (iPod/iPhone/iPad/iPod Touchs are a gateway drug).
    There are as many reasons for why people switch as there are people that have switched.
    If you wish to find out if you have a reason, you really need to play with the Mac for an extended period of time and see if it suits you.  If it doesn't and you still feel like you need a change of pace, try a Linux distribution (Ubuntu for example).

  • XML Used for data transfer over web

    Hello, I'm currently running oracle forms on the web. Will XML allow me to create a realtime interface that will allow me to load multiple records into my oracle database without going through an form?

    Sure.
    Check out our XSQL Servlet at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/xsql_servlet
    It comes with features, documentation, and demos to easily work with SQL, XML, and XSLT, including the ability to help in posting HTML Forms and posted XML documents into the database.
    You can try out the demos online at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/demo/demo1.htm
    In particular the "XML Insert Request Demo" shows a simple example of what can be done with posted XML going into your database.

  • Using htmlmarkup.xsl with a data template

    Has anyone used a file called htmlmarkup.xsl, http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/01/formatting_html_with_templates.html, with a data template?
    If I create my BI Publisher report using a data query in my data model, htmlmarkup.xsl works fine in converting the html text to bold or underline, or whatever I want it to be. But if am using a data template in my data model, the tags don't get converted and I still see the tags.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
    Thanks!!

    Here is the data template:
    <dataTemplate dataSourceRef="oltpdev" name="html" defaultPackage="html">
         <properties>
              <property name="xml_tag_case" value="upper"/>
         </properties>

         <lexicals>

         <dataQuery>
              <sqlStatement name="Q_1">

    from manager_product_note
    where trunc(note_timestamp,'mm')='01-jun-2008'

              </group>
         </dataStructure>
    </dataTemplate>
    I just want to see the NOTES column correctly. Instead I get:
    <p><strong>New Note</strong></p>
    <ol>
    <li>numbered list - normal font</li>
    <li><strong>bold font</strong></li>
    <li><strong><em>bold and italic</em></strong></li>
    <li><u>underlined</u></li>
    <li><em>italic only</em></li>
    <li><strike>strike out</strike></li>
    </ol>
    <ul>
    <li>bulleted list</li>
    <li>next item</li>
    <li><strong><i><u><strike>Bold, Italics, Underlined and Strikeout</strike></u></i></strong></li>
    </ul>
    You can tell this is a test case.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Create XML using Data Templates

    Is anyone familiar will a tool, other than oracle that will create XML from data template definitions.
    I trying to understand if the data template definitions are an Oracle specific tool that only Oracle can use to generate XML files.
    If this is specific to Oracle, is there an easier way to use the data templates to generate XML without registering them in the concurrent manager, XMLP Admin, and then executing the concurrent process?
    I'm looking for a shortcut to testing these files without having to register everything.

    Why not using XML Publisher Standalone aka Enterprise 5.6.2 ?
    There you can generate the XML based on data templates without registering anything. The installation is quite easy.

  • Problem with parameters in Data Template

    Hello,
    I created some reports using the data template and didn't have any problems. I wanted to change the name of a couple of my parameters and now I can't get any data returned in my reports. If I remove the parameters data is returned or if I rename the parameters to something else data is returned. It seems like it has something to do with these two names of the parameters that I'm using that is causing the report not to run, but I have no idea why or where to even look.
    Here is my example report:
    With parameter names P_JUR and P_TAXYR my report runs without any problems.
    <dataTemplate name="test" description="test Report">
         <parameters>
              <parameter name="P_JUR" dataType="character"/>

                   <element name="ADDR" value="ADDR"/>
              </group>
         </dataStructure>

    As soon as I change my parameters and remove the "P_" - changed to JUR and TAXYR my report no longer returns data:

                   <element name="ADDR" value="ADDR"/>
              </group>
         </dataStructure>
    </dataTemplate>
    I know it's getting my values because when I run the report I get this output:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <TEST>
    <JUR>040</JUR>
    <TAXYR>2008.0</TAXYR>
    <LIST_RP />
    </TEST>
    I can change the parameter names to BOB, TOM, A, B, C, etc. and the report runs fine. It's just those two parameters JUR and TAXYR that do not work. I'm integrating this with another system which is why it's important is uses JUR and TAXYR. Anyone have any idea where to check or what I can check to see why it wouldn't work with only those two parameter names?
    Thanks

    Always keep the parameter name with some standard :) to avoid these kind of issues.
    keep PARAM_XYZ
    like PARAM_TZXYR , PARAM_JUR

    Go to DSO -> manage.
    On content Tab, you get option for selective deletion (last button "selective").
    Mention your selections inside Delete Selection & start the job.
    This will delete the selected data only from active table.
    Please note the data from change log will not be deleted. No selective deletion is possible on Change log. However, you can delete the older change logs if not necessary. Go to Environment -> Delete Change Log Data & specify the date or days.

  • IPad 2 chooses to use Cellular data instead of Wi-Fi (This is Sh*t!)

    Just learned today, the hard way, that for some reason the iPad 2 in it's eternal wishdom chooses to use Cellular data (3G) over Wi-Fi while both are available!
    If the iPad 2 is not smart enough or can not be made smart enough to strongly choose Wi-Fi over Cellular data (3G) at the very least an option should be added under Wi-Fi settings as well as Cellular data settings to allow the user to select it's preferrence.
    I was stunned to learn today while downloading several Gb(s) of data that the iPad while having both available, that is Cellular data (3G) and Wi-Fi, it choose to use Cellular data (3G) and burn right through the $25 AT&T data plan for the month.
    To speak with Steve Jobs: "This is sh*t!"
    I hate to say it, but the Nokia phones resolve this better. They at least have an option that allows the user to choose so it defaults to Wi-Fi when available.

    Yes, I found out about this issue after receiving a warning notice from ATT about data plan running out on my wife's ipad, even though it never left the house, and was always connected to our AP home network. Here is the link to my thread...
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11636856#11636856
    Since then, I have heard from both Apple and ATT (actually both called my cell). Neither one has an explanation, but they expressed concern about both claimed they are "looking into to this issue further". I suspect this is a wildfire about to run out of control for AT&T, given the abandonment of their unlimited plans. My suspicion is that some of this data lead is occurring in the middle of the night, with apple tapping into the logs.

  • Oracle Report as data source in XMLP data template?

    I use XML Publisher 5.6.3 in EBS 11.5.10
    Is it possible to make an xml data template with an oracle report (rdf) as one of the sources of data? (I'm not saying create a Data Def with no Data Template attached... rather point the Data Template to an rdf, or it's xml output.)
    I converted RAXINV.rdf (Invoice) to a data template and layout template. I had to replicate the data template portion of the oracle report and add our own fields to the queries because we have custom fields we want on the invoice report. I didn't want to modify the original rdf.
    I am wondering if I could have avoided converting the entire data template portion of the rdf. My thought is that if I could make a data template that combines A) the xml output of the original rdf, together with B) our custom sql, I could eliminate the "rdf-to-data template" conversion step. This would have been a significant time savings, because making the converted data template actually work was no small task.
    Any and all thoughts are welcome.

    You need the source-data as XML for BIP.
    You can use
    1. RDF to generate xml.
    2. datatemplate to generate xml.
    The ultimate aim is to get xml out of it, so consider both are same.
    If you are comfortable in using RDF, then go ahead and use that.
