Advantages of using XI in Vendor portal (webdynpro) development

Hi,
I will be greatful if anyone provide the advantages/disadvantages of using XI in vendor portal development. I need this information for my presentation to my client. I need it in urgent. Thanks in advance.

ITS will be much handy when you want to display standard SAP transaction in portal/browser frontend.
with ITS , you can expose the transaction to web with zero coding, but had to live with the limitation of not being able to change the look and feel much.
whereas if youdecide to program the entire transaction yourself for the web, it will be really time consuming and sometime may not be able to provide the same look and feel and functionality which sap win/web gui offers.

  • ABAP webdynpro app not redirecting using Outbound plug in portal

    Scenario-
There is one Abap webdynpro application APP1 calling another abap webdynpro component Comp 2 through outbound plug on a button click. This is working fine if service is tested independantly.
SAP ECC system is having a webispatcher and the application should be accessed using webdipatcher only i.e. ECC should not be called directly.
SSL has been configured b/w ECC and webdipatcher.
The Abap webdynpro application APP1 is integrated into portal using Abap webdynpro iview.
Setting in Portal system are reffering to Webdipatcher for ECC system instead of ECC system directly.
    Issue-
App1 is loading successfully into portal and all the data is coming properly but when trying to navigate to second component on button click it is not navigating. iview is getting refreshed but not redirecting to required component and is still on the same application.
Please suggest the reasons and solutions if anyone has clue about it.

  • Advantages of using Portal in HCM implementation

    Dear all,
I need to implement HCM in one of our existing SAP ERP R3 4.7 systems. I also need to get my ESS to be published as a webpage for all my employees at different geographical locations. Please advice me on the advantages and dis-advantages of the scenarios explained below.
Scenario 1: Only using ITS (Internet Transaction Server)
I need to publish my portal page in the web, so I install HR support packages in the ERP system and also deploy the ESS component. I install a standalone ITS system on a separate machine and integrate the same with the ERP system. Now the HR-ESS component is distributed over the web through the ITS. SAP transactions are displayed over the web and the ESS component is used through a web browser.
Scenario 2: Using ITS and a Portal System
I implement the HR support packages in the ERP system, install and configure the ITS, implement a three system portal landscape (NW 04 EP 6.0 SR1) Publish the portal page over the web and enhance the ESS application through the same. Here the ERP system acts as the backend for the portal system.
I also have a doubt regarding the same. As SAP ERP R3 4.7 does not have an inbuilt ITS, is it necessary for me to install and configure a standalone ITS for the interconnectivity between the ERP and the Portal systems?
Kindly help me with the suggestions.
    Thank you

hello, the LM3S8962 microcontroller is a good sispositivos for developing applications of medium complexity, according to your questions:
    1. if you work applications with embedded systems will save labview time in prototyping, we know that if you work with a company specific microcontroller, you must learn the language with which you are working Asm, Basic, C, then if you change hardware again start adapting your code in the libraries of the new compiler. Labview does not happen.
    2. Labview only works with some microcontroller manufacturers and specific models.

  • Webdynpro development for portal integration

our requirement is to run the adoe interactive form in enterprise portal and store the entered data in SAP system.
Can i develop in NWDS (call LIfecycle designe inside) and create webdynpro object by selecting new project as
    1) webdynpro project or
    2) development component project and type as webdynpro and select domain is Enterprise portal etc.,
which one is correct way for webdynpro development and deploy in . If I select the 2nd option, how to deploy it.
    Please advise
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi Gopal,
    EP7:
Expand the local and sap.com webdynpro components.
You will see your WebDynpro  DC in "sap.com" which is the default vendor while creating a DC.
After you found the DC select an application and follow the other steps to create  an iView.
If it is WebDynpro Project then you can see that in local.
If you are using EP6 then follow the document:

  • Trying to Submit an App to Vendor Portal. Can't get it to work.

    HI,
I've spent about 14 hours trying to submit an App to the Vendor portal.   Running FIrefox 3.0.19 on Windows XP, SP3.  Seems the push-buttons and forms just won't work.  I've updated to the latest JRE 6.0.250.10 runtime, and still no luck.
Several folks reported this issue back in 2011 on other developer forums.  Solution then was to use latest IE9,
with the upgrade to latest Java Runtime 6.   Is IE9 the only browser Vendor Portal works with?
FOr example, I can log into the Vendor Portal (ver. 4.0.1.3, i think, as of now, 24Sept2012), and update fields such as address, name, etc.  But if I try to upload a 480x480 logo, it just keeps reporting "Invalid logo file" (or whatever the red error message is).  And, when I press the button to do the "Add Rating" on the app description screen, I get
all the radio buttons, but when I click submit, the form disappears, (without indicating any update - ie no green
"G" for General Audience).   Attempts to press "Next" to get to next page, report that "Rating has not been added"
    and must be added.
SO, I am stymied.  I even tried the browser on the PLaybook, and even it will not allow a 480x480 logo file to be
    uploaded successfully.
Is the Vendor Portal disabled?  My Firefox+WinXP(sp3) platform is used to connect to numerous secure
sites, and has all the features enabled to allow secure uploads, and Java/Javascript operation.
This is a remarkably difficult process.   Any suggestions?  Is there a Linux flavour combo that might work, or is
the Vendor Portal not online right now, for app submission?    Thanx for any info...
    - Rus

More details: Trying to add a logo picture, using Vendor Portal website version 4.0.3.1.   I have confirmed,, using three different graphics packages, that my logo picture is 480x480 pixels.   Latest attempt is using Firefoix 13.0.1, from a MacBook Air!   (Bought in June 2012, latest Firefox.. all new code, latests JRE, etc.  This platform works everywhere folks... )   Attempts to load a logo .jpg file fail, with a message "Please Select valid logo".
This is the Vendor Portal for adding Playbook Apps, and managing Vendor accounts.  Pretty important thingy, no?
    Website URL is: https://appworld.blackberry.com/isvportal
Been trying for two days to add a logo-picture, and the details of a completed app.   Anyone minding the store on this?? Anyone got any suggestions?   If I can determine what the problem is, I will post my solution here.   It occurs to me that this must be possible, somehow, no?

  • What are the advantages of using Map IDs?

    Hi:
I am trying to find out the advantages for using map ids as
opposed to just using the file names for the topics, but I couldn't
find this information in the RH7 Help or the forums. Can you please
    list the advantages and disadvantages.
Also, I am describing how I wish to implement the context
sensitive help feature for my application and you can tell me which
approach is better. We make an application that is packaged within
a Java IDE. We want to launch context sensitive help topics from
the wizards and cheat sheets. Now, this context sensitive help can
be either be installed on the local machine or network (file://
protocol) or available on our portal (https:// protocol). We do
have the infrastructure in place to let the user decide whether
he/she wants to access the local help topic or the one over the
internet. Will map ids work for both the scenarios?
    Thanks,
    K

It sounds like your application call needs to call an online
version of the help first and if this is not available to point to
a local copy. Is that right? If so, how this happens is entirely in
the hands of your developers. I know it can be done, just sketchy
    on the actual procedure.
As far as the CSH in the help is concerned, you can use
mapids for both versions of the help if you want. If using webhelp
you'd do well to check out
    this
    link on Peter Grainge's site.

  • Advantages of using BO over tools provided in BEx

    Hi,
I am wanting to know if there is any documentation enlisting the advantages of using BO over the tools provided in BEx.
Also, what is the advantage of using BO analysing data from cubes in BI 7.0 than accessing data from SAP R/3 directly.
    Thank you.

    Hi
Advantages of BO (as well as other Query/Reporting) are that they provide robust end users interfaces
in terms of designing queries, reports and also run on a standalone desktop client. Their user interface is
easy to use and much easier environment to design manus, drop-down boxes/lists and buttons and also provide wizards to help users guide. These tools can also work against several heterogenous data sources.
There are several factors one needs to keep in mind when selecting 3rd Party tools for SAP BW. A few are listed below:
BO uses OLEDB for OLAP API via BEX query. This causes extra overhead because here you have BEX resources and then you add up BO resources to manage infrmation to/from BEX query over the OLEDB interface. Some vendors, like arcplan, use OLAP BAPI to access BW data. This API has somewhat lower overhead because it bypasses the OLEDB for OLAP layer.
As you know that BEX is MSExcel based. It is not easy to build sophisticatecd user interfaces without doing extensive VBA or Macro programming.

  • Advantages of using PI 7.1 over PI 7.0

    Hi All,
I need to suggest to my client, the advantages of using PI 7.1 over PI 7.0, so that we can use the same for our development.
Please dont send me the links from SDN, just suggest the advantages.
    Useful answers will be rewarded.
    Regards
    Ranjit

    Hi,
PI 7.1 will be in rampup then - not global availibility
when it will be available you will get an upgreade guide as always
Currently PI 7.0 is only available for real time implementation. You could have the version of PI 7.1 from SDN, but that not for the real time implementation. Its limited only for individual usage.
There is huge difference between PI 7.0 and PI 7.1.
    1. PI 7.0 is the part of Netweaver 2004s and PI 7.1 is key entity in eSOA.
    2. PI 7.1 have various mapping Enhancements as well as reusability of UDFs across the mappings etc. which is not available in PI 7.0
    /people/william.li/blog/2008/01/02/sap-pi-71-mapping-enhancements-series-share-user-defined-functions
    3. PI 7.1 comes with the concept of folders for more flexibale and Organized way of developements.

  • Advantages of using a decentralized adapter

What are the advantages of using a decentralized adapter engine

    Hi Narendra,
Every XI installation will install a default adapter engine and these are called as the Central / Local Adapter Engines. Most of the times this one Adapter Engine is more than sufficient.
At times, when the load on your server is going to be high , you can install a Decentral Adapter Engines and these are nothing but seprate instances of your Adapter Engine that can pick data and send it to your Integration Engine.
The need for a decentral Adapter Engine also arises when you have security restrictions, DMZ , etc in the landscape where one adapter engie is used for one particluar DMZ and another acts as the local adapter engine etc.
The main advantage is load balancing and reducing risk of "single point of failure" so if something is wrong with central system or network then atleast your message will persist for later processing.
Another practical advantage is related to maintenance, every decentral AE is independent of other so maintenance will affect small set of interfaces not others.

  • Advantages of using Mobile over EP

    Hi,
Am evaluating advantages of using mySAP CRM Portals vis a vis Mobile Solution. Request if you to provide me any inputs that you have on this topic please.
Any documents can be sent across at [email protected]
    Many Thanks.

    Hi
Other then the previous reply,In simplest word we can say --now we have two way to admin the content in the landscape.
1.If we want to do it off-line the we can do form Visual admin( works well because after modification we start the server for changes takes place)
    2. Form NWA we can do all administration with indicative navigation (quite frustrating in visual tool ) and no need to start /restart the surver

  • Supplier/ Vendor Portal

    Hi MM gurus,
We have a requirement, where we need to implement vendor portal for vendor, through which they can get the vendor related inforamtion like material requirement and Schedules, payments details, GRN related, RFQ, Vendor rating etc.
Can any  one suggests, whats the configuration and other components requried.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Chandru.

Then you have to develope the Portal and send/receive the data in the portal via EDI format so directly you can use in the SAP.
We have same situation here where Vendor has develpe the Portal for us and we are sending the data to portal via EDI and receive also via EDI.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Advantage of using SAP SRM

    Hi,
Could any one please explain the advantages of using SAP SRM over MM module. As per me we can de most of the activities in MM except some vendor related activities (and that even if SUS is used).
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Lalit

    Hi Lalit,
All advantages of using SRM and MM module is in Plan-Driven Procurement documentation on service.sap.com/instguides -> SRM.
Generally planning in APO or MRP in an ERP system calculates the quantity and materials required. This requirement can be transffered to the EBP system. Requisitions from SAP Plant Maintanance or Project System are also possible requirements.
The requisitions are passed to EBP. If the data is complete and unique, purchase orders can be created automatically. If the data is missing, the proffesional purchaser has to complete the missing information in Sourcing or via Process Purchase Orders. An option for the professional buyer is to assign un-sourced PO to an RFQ and send it out for bids.
The proffesional purchaser completes the orders, assings source of supply, add or deletes item.
Once the order is complete it is issued automatically to R/3. XML is the upcoming medium, since the data can be automatically integrated in more and more supplier's systes, or You can send orders by e-mail, fax or print them.
Goods receipt is either done in EBP by supplier via an XML confirmation, by employee who requested the item by general goods recipient or in the backend system. Inventory is updated in backend.
The invoice is processed in EBP manually by the requestor or an accountant submitted by the supplier via an XML invoice, possibly from SUS or backend system.
You can also look in Self-Service Procurement documentation on:

  • What is the advantages of using Interface?

    Hi,
I still don't get what's the advantages of using interface. Reusability? is it the main advantage? thanks in advance.

    What is GOF?
Interface is a good program practice when working with RMI (Remote Method Invocation) application. Imagine your anti-virus. When you connect to internet your software invoke a method into your software vendor site and download the new definitions. Now every anti-virus Subscription is different. The method you invoke, will depends on your Subscription. If you hard code the method abstractly, you will not achieve this functionality.
Another concept is that because Java does not practice multile inheritance interface is a goog way to interface into another class.
    Example
I want to extends to multiple class which java do not support. I will write an interface i.e I want to extends to FileOutputStream, OutputStream, Object, Integer, String, ActionEvent, Window etc.
I will write an interface like this
    interface MyClass {
    pulic void setFileOutputStream ( FileOutputStream file );
    public void setOutputStream ( OutputStream );
    public Object getObject ( );
    public Seriable getInterget ( )
    ------------------- //You get the gist
With this interface you can implement they behaviours
You could say, why don't we just import them. When yo import them you have already hard coded there behaviour. But this way you can apply diferent behaviour throughout you application development. And any class that implement them must provide ways of using it.

  • What is advantage of using Visual Composer In SAP

    Hi friends,
please tell me what is advantage of using visual composer in SAP.
and please give me basic notes to understand Visual Composer.
I Don't have any idea about this topic.
    please help me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Yogesh

    Hi Yogesh,
SAP Visual Composer is a browser based, graphical modeling tool that - by reusing existing data services like RFCs, web services, queries, query-views, tables - allows creating business applications with both transactional and analytical services seamlessly integrated. In addition it gives modelers the choice to select the UI technology and build user interfaces.

  • AFS & Vendor Portal

    Hello All,
I am trying to get my head around the architectural information around Vendor Portal & AFS.
Would appreciate if you could provide inputs around these queries.
We are using SAP NW 7.01 SP06. ECC 6.0 EHP 4 . Now we are having AFS & Vendor Portal added in scope.
1 - Do we have any SAP pre-delivered Portal content on EP that is ready to be used out of the box for Vendor Portal like ESS, MSS or SRM?
2 - Does Vendor Portal run on Netweaver Portal  - What is the Architecture?
3 - Do we need to use EFP / FPN concepts with Vendor Portal around SAP EP?
4 - Is Portlet same as iViews or it is similar to the underlying app eg WD4A / WD4J?
5 - In case of custom inventory in Vendor Portal - what would be the recommended implementation technology - WD4A / WD4J/ PDK object or any web service based development.
    Thanks,
    Dhanz

    Hi
1.There is no business package or any pre-delivered SAP content not available for Vendor portal, because customer needs may vary.
    2. Yes vendor portal is nothing but our normal SAP Portal, even you can use existing portal if you have already, just take count of Portal Roles maintenance and User load.
    3. You can go for EFP for vendor, so that they can view some of data, rest if for any bidding they can register.
    4. We can use any WDJava or WDAbap do achieve this.
    5. For inventory based, first check for data size , number of users so that application should not be overloaded over internet
