Advice for audio import and how do i find the item ID?

Hi all,
I am a bit stuck and hoping for a bit of help. i need to add voice over to my project but i am a bit stuck as to the best way to do this. My project is in Chinese and has Chinese captions. I don't speak any Chinese at all.
In terms of the voice recording i don't know anyone that speaks Chinese so i am sending the text captions externally to get them recorded. As i don't speak Chinese i am a bit nervous about the import process and what the final output will sound like.
In my export document i can see each caption has an item id - my audio files will come back as an individual recording for each caption, i am assuming they will name the files the same as the item id in the word doc.
My question is - i have a slide with 4 captions - when i export the captions they are each assigned a unique item id - say the voice over person records each of these captions and then they are named with the item id - what is the most efficient way of importing them back in and assigning them to the correct caption? Is there a way of seeing the caption's item id within Captivate? if i could then i could check the caption's item id and then import the corresponding audio file to it. In the absecen of being able to see the item id how will i know which caption each audio fuile belongs to? i could try to decipher iot based on the caption's text and compare that to the text in the word doc but that will take forever and as i don't know any chinese is not very foolproof
maybe i am doing this all wrong and there is an easier way??
Please help !
Thanks
Deb

If you printed the Network Configuration Page, then it SHOULD be on it. It's named 'Hardware Address(MAC)' on the page. If you don't find it there, which is highly unlikely and surprising, then look at the back of the printer for a white label with a Wireless and LAN symbol on it, and the Mac address will be there.
But to be honest, Mac Filtering is not the best form of security for wireless networks. It can be easily bypassed\intruded by wi-fi network hackers. It's better to assign a WPA or WPA2 security with a WPA key longer than 13 characters. This is nearly impossible to crack currently. So if they can't find the WPA key, they can't connect to the network... which will render Mac Filtering completely useless.
Cheers.

need to be able to setup printing for my Ipad2. How do I find the instructions. THe printer is installed and capable, but I do not see it from either my iPad2 OR iphone 4.  Please advise.

    1. Make sure you've updated the printer firmware and successfully printed the test sheet from the printer.
    2. Make sure that your iPad is on the same network as your printer.
    3. Try printing from an app. To print this page from Safari, for example, go to the rectangle with the right- facing arrow on the toolbar, choose Print from the drop down menu, select your printer, and click Print.
Printing in apps is usually under the rectangle-arrow symbol, but is also sometimes found under the wrench- "tools" symbol.

  • Upgrading from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8  on my G4 Power Mac Digital audio-is it worth it and how do i find the 10.5.8

Hey Gang.   How's it been going?  I still have the same G4 Digital Audio which came used but with a clean OS, which I managed to up
grade to reach the 10.4.11.  Its works great and I love it.  I can only imagine using a real Mac Pro 2012.  The software is legacy and It will not support the QuarkExpress9 for example.  So what if I found and upgraded to the 10.5.8 or the max OS my G4 can handle?  Is it worth it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Depends what part of 10.5 you think you need, but 10.5 does not support Classic Apps, requires 3 times the resources & space, is expensive, & slower than Tiger/10.4 even on a G5 Quad with 10 GB of RAM.
    I have run 10.5.8 on a DA/450 MHz/1GB, & it is possible.
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

There are workarounds if the 867MHz CPU is the only hangup...

  • How can I delete all the Time Machine backups to make room for more? And how do I force the trash to empty?

I moved a bunch of my husband's files from his Macbook (which is dieing) to my iMac.  I created a user for him on my iMac so he'd be able to keep his stuff separate from mine.  All is working great except my Time Machine is now unable to backup.  The total of used space on my hard drive (including the recently added user's files) is about 420 GB.  The amount of capacity of my external hard drive is 999GB.  I think Time Machine failed because there was all of a sudden so much more data and a new full backup would be more than the unused capacity of the HD?  Regardless I don't need any old backups.  I have all my files and all his files.  So I moved all the backups from the external HD to the trash.  Apparently that's a no no.  I can't fully empty the trash now and that is making my iMac crazy slow.
    1) Can anyone tell me how to force the trash to empty?
    2) Is there a way to delete the whole external HD and start over with a new full backup via Time Machine?  In Disk Utility I try to erase the partition and get an error "Volume Erase failed with the error: Couldn't unmount disk." Then I try to Unmount it and get another "Unmount failed. The disk Backup iOmega could not be unmounted.  Make sure that all applications and files are closed on this disk." I turned off Time Machine and tried again but with the same errors.
The external HD is called iOmega.  It only connects to the iMac with USB.  Any help is much appreciated!!!!

    Try this instead:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup volume from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
    4. Click on the Erase button.
You will need to reconfigure Time Machine preferences for the backup.
FYI: Never remove Time Machine backup data except through the Time Machine application. If you aren't sure about using Time Machine then visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things related to Time Machine.

  • What is an exchange and how do I find the password in order to add a second iPad to my accunt by restoring from the icloud??

What is an exchange?  I am trying to add a second iPad to my account by restoring/synching from the icloud.  It asks for my exchange password but we do not know what that is.

If you are referring to the service listed in the Mail, Calendars and Contacts area, that refers to Microsoft Exchange, a server system they sell for email, calendaring and address book. If you have such a service, your company will tell you.
Exchange has nothing to do with iCloud, though, so you should not be attempting to set up an Exchange account in your iPad to get synchronization with iCloud. Here's how you set up iCloud on your iPad:

  • I have moved my Itunes media folder to an external drive and Itunes does not find the items in the folder

Running Win7. I moved my entire Itunes library to an external drive to free up space on my laptop. Itunes recognized the change and all was well. That worked fine and I have synced several times from the laptop with the library on the external drive. Now the laptop is in the shop (sigh, not Itunes related a dead network card). I connected the external drive to my desktop, made sure my software was up to date. opened ITunes went to edit/preferences/advanced. Went to change Itunes media folder location and navigated to the proper folder on my external drive and clicked OK. None of the music, videos, etc, that are in that folder show up in iTunes on the desktop. Restarted ITunes, no help, reboot computer, no help. Have I done something wrong or left out a step. I could copy all the media onto the desktop individually and build new playlists but that seems like something that should not be needed? One of the reasons I moved my Itunes media folder to the external drive was so I could use the laptop for iTunes while travel and the desktop for iTunes while at home. Do I have to copy the entire folder to my desktop and take up space there? That would be counterproductive to using the external drive. I searched and saw a hint to hold down shift while starting ITunes but that did not change anything. Any help would be most appreciated!
    Jim in WV

Thank you for your prompt response - I did as you said and did a drag and drop into the iTunes window - it imported and got my album art from the net. When I started Itunes with the shift key down I was prompted to choose a library but since I copied over the media folder and not the library folder I was unable to select that so I guess I will have to create a new library and add in all the music, videos, etc. unless I wait for my laptop and export the library or at least that seems to be the case? In short, all my data (iTunes media folder) is on my external drive and can be added to the blank iTunes screen but I can not choose a library folder. Is there anyway around completely making all those playlists again? I am not sure my laptop will survive the shop with data intact and really hate to start over on those.
In an unrelated question - I collect old TV shows from the 1950's. Can I make playlists within the home video folder somehow?  In other words like one for Quiz shows, one for comedies, one for police and detective shows, etc. while I am remaking all my playlists for my music if I end up having to go that route?
Once again thank you for helping me out. I am not too Itunes savvy and really appreciate you taking the time to answer.

  • How can I find the item number?

    Good day everyone!
If I have a drop down list and want to find the number of the selected item, how do I work it out?
The boundItem method gives me the current data value, but I need the item number. The mission is to add instances to another drop down list with child nodes of the value chosen in the first drop down list.
I've tried out the currentRecordNumber property, but I can't make it work. In Adobe XML Form object Model Reference they puts up
    xfa.dataWindow.currentRecordNumber
but without any further reference to the current dropdownlist in that code, I don't understand how it works.
    Please help me out.
    best regards,

Hi!<br /><br />Thank you for your response! <br />I still don't get it right though after trying different methods over and over again and I therefore have two questions.<br /><br />1) Why do you use the <i>getElement</i> method to get an attribute? It would make more sense to me if you suggested the <i>getAttribute</i> method instead. Now, I have been trying out some different combinations of these two methods with the @ symbol, but without success. The getAttribute is described both in this forum and in the Adobe XML Form Object Model 2.2 Reference, but always in combination with recordSet. The recordSet object is a part of the sourceSet model which is used in OLEDB connections. I don't use that and wonder if I could use the getAttribute solely on the dataValue itself. I.e.the loaded XML looks somewhat like this:<br /><cars><br /><carowner carproducer="Ford">Person A</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="VW">Person B</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="Lexus">Person C</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="Ford">Person D</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="Nissan">Person E</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="Volvo">Person F</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="VW">Person G</carowner><br /><carowner carproducer="Ford">Person H</carowner><br /></cars><br /><br />var persons = xfa.resolveNode("$data.car");<br /><br />for (counter=0; counter<a.length; counter++)<br />{<br /><br />if (persons.nodes.item(counter).getAttribute("carproducer").value=="Ford")<br />{<br /><br />listBox1.addItem(persons.nodes.item(counter).value;<br /><br />}<br /><br />};<br /><br />Certainly there would be several faults in the code above, but please comment the getAttribute part.<br /><br />2)<br />All this (the methodology above) is described in the Acrobat JavaScript Scripting Reference for Acrobat 7.0 in the chapter showing the XMLData object (page 639) using a applyXPath and parse. If I use copy&paste from this manual and insert as a function in a script object,it works just fine. Are there any tips on how I can make it work on the nodeList XFA object?<br />The following test is attached to the description of the applyXPath method:<br /><i>NOTE: An exception is thrown when the value of this parameter is a nodeList XFA object instead the root of an XML tree, as required.</i><br /><br />best regards, <br />Håkon

  • HT3770 I have recently bought a external hard drive and I was told to down load a Fat 32 in order to work with my MAC/ Is this right and how do I find the download and how to install to make my new external drive compatible with my MAC?

What is a Fat 32 which I am suppose to download inorder to work on a MAC for external drive to be compatable ?

Bad advice. You do not need or want FAT.
You want GUID and Mac HFS Standard Journaling.
You don't download when you write files, or when you format or erase a drive.

  • OVM 3.0 iSCSI setup generally and how do i find the iqn

    Hi all,
I have just setup an HP P2000 iSCSI SAN and created a few LUN's on it that I want to present to a vm server. How do I do this?
In the SAN SMU utility to add a host I seem to need an iqn - where can I find it. What docs explain this (sorry again for greeness)
I look at wim's blog here:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/wim/entry/using_linux_iscsi_targets_with
and a lot of the tools dont seems to be present in my dom0
i look at the official docs :http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E20065_01/doc.30/e18549/storage.htm#autoId4
and they dont really tell me much
where do you suggest to look for guidelines for iSCSI setup with ovm 3.0?
    Thanks

In the SAN SMU utility to add a host I seem to need an iqn - where can I find it. What docs explain this (sorry again for greeness)Create the iSCSI Storage Array in Oracle VM Manager and edit the Default Access Group. It'll show you the IQNs for each of your Oracle VM Servers. Once you've mapped LUNs to those IQNs, you can refresh the iSCSI Storage Array to see the physical disks. I've noticed that some arrays don't refresh and may require a reboot of Oracle VM Server to see the disks.

  • Where and how can I find the two files?

    I begin study j2me.but I cannot find files j2me_cldc-1_0-src-winsol.zip and j2ne_cldc-1_0-src-palm_overlay.zip in java.sun.com.
If you have the two files ,do you send me one copy?
    My email is [email protected],thanks.

    [szlzhm],
The j2me_cldc-1_0_2-fcs-kjava_overlay.zip file is no longer available for download as this old Palm overlay package is unsupported and not part of the CLDC 1.0 specification.
If you are interested in the Java virtual machine for the Palm OS environment, we suggest that you take a look at the MIDP for Palm OS implementation:
    http://java.sun.com/products/midp/palmOS.html
For beginners who want to learn the J2ME technology, a good URL to start from is:
    http://java.sun.com/j2me/
You'll need to understand the concepts of CLDC and MIDP specification if you are looking to write J2ME applications for the Palm OS device.
