Advice needed for converting AI file to PDF

I'm working on some 11x17 page size illustrator files that are of aerial photo maps (with a legend).
Can someone offer me some advice on how to best convert these files to pdfs and keep the photo quality high and keep the file size as low as I can get it??? I basically can convert it to a pdf but I don’t understand the compression settings section (assuming that’s what needs to be changed in order to accomplish this?).
Thanks

This is a trick I find works well.
Just save it as a pdf and open in Acrobat, then (Acrobat X) go to tools and then Prepare for Web Publishing, use all the default settings.
This should reduce the file as much as 1/3 the size sometimes even more.
It has no effect on the qquality.

You need whatever app normally opens .c4 files and prints them. And you need Adobe Acrobat. That's it.

  • I need to convert a file from PDF to doc to make changes to it.  How do I do this without getting an error message?

I can not convert a PDF file to a doc file. I have an older computer program and need to do this in order to make changes to a form.  I just signed up for ADOBE about an hour ago. I keep getting a error message.

    Hi subscription question,
I've checked your account; it looks like you tried to place two separate orders this morning, but it doesn't appear that either went through. However, it does sound as though you've been able to convert a file successfully. What happens when you log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files? Do you see your converted file there? All converted files are automatically stored in your online account, even when you convert from within Reader.

    Hello,
For converting xps file to pdf, if your pc installed Office, then you could consider the way shared in the following thread.

something like  (don't forget to reference Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel)
    Dim Exapp As New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application
    Dim ExWB As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook = Exapp.Workbooks.Open("yourfilename")

    Hi narayanan_1983,
This article will tell you how to convert XPS file to PDF in vb.net:
    http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/pdfnet/Convert%20XPS%20files%20to%20PDF%20format
From this article, we know that you could use  a class named
[{{XpsLoadOptions}}] which is used to initialize a LoadOptions object. Later, this object is passed as an argument during the
Document object initialization and it helps the PDF rendering engine to determine the source document's input format.
' Instantiate LoadOption object using XPS load option
Dim options As Aspose.Pdf.LoadOptions = New XpsLoadOptions()
    ' Create document object
Dim document As Aspose.Pdf.Document = New Aspose.Pdf.Document("D:\source.xps", options)
' Save the resultant PDF document
    document.Save("D:\resultant.pdf")
If you have any other concern regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • Convert iPhoto file into pdf file

Need to convert iPhoto files in pdf format to send as email attachment to a recipient who requires it in this format.  How do I do it?

There might be a quicker way, but an alternative is:
    - Locate the photo(s) in Finder
    - Open them in Preview
    - File > Print (or CMD + P)
    - In the bottom left there should be a drop-down menu for PDFs.  You can then choose to save it as a PDF, or email it as a PDF attachment.
This works for single and multiple photos.  Bear in mind that they will save at the original resolution, so if you want the file to be smaller, make all the changes you want to in iPhoto then locate them in Finder.
    Hope this helps.

  • I need to convert hundreds of TRANSPARENT PDFs into PNG or TIFF

I need to convert hundreds of TRANSPARENT PDFs into PNG or TIFF.
That's not possible with Acrobat. It’s possible to convert hundreds of PDFs into PNG or TIFF using batch processing. But transparency is LOST!
Photoshop is the only software I know of which is able to keep transparency when converting from PDF to PNG.
But now I have problems to get batch processing running.
I made an Action with “Open file”, “Save as PSD” and “Export to PNG”.
Using this Action in batch-process-files with source as a folder with many PDFs and target as a different folder results in many opened PDFs within Photoshop. Nothing else happens:-(.
    Any ideas?

    Hi All
    Background:

To convert fm document to PDF we are using the below mentioned command line utility available in FM 8.(on unix). /opt/app/frame8.0/bin/fmprint -i -p Sample.fm.fmtpl Sample.fm Currently the the fm file which need to converted to PDF and the FM 8(installed) are available on the same unix system ,so we were able to initiate/use the command line utility of FM 8. The rendition of the FM to PDF is On -Demand.( We are not running any batch activities/ bulk renditions). We are rendering the document as soon as the document  is available.
    Requirement:
As we are going to  upgrade the FM to newer versions which would be installed on the Windows machine as Frame maker 10 or 11 will not support unix plat form, so can you please let us know which option is better to use i.e we want to convert fm file to PDF using java program without any manual intevention using publishing server/client version.

I paid to convert a file from pdf to Word and it is unintelligible. Why ?

    Hi M & B P,
Please give the following a try:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, log out, clear the cache, and then log back in.
If you're converting from within Reader, choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version.
Please let us know how it goes. If you're still having problems, please let us know how you're converting, what browser you're using, and whether you're on Mac OS and Windows. We'll do some deeper digging if need be.

  • Unable to convert text file to PDF

    Hi,
Using Adobe Pro 9 Distiller on Windows 2008 64bit server. So far using Distiller to convert .eps files to .pdf with Standard job options file. I need to convert a .txt file to .pdf and am not able to convert using any of the OOTB job options settings that came with Distiller product installation.
Below is the Distiller output when I tried with Standard job options settings
    %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: MBLDxxxx-03.rpt ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Can anyone please provide me settings or job options file settings to convert reports in text format to PDF? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick response. I was able to generate the PDF using the Adobe PDF writer by opening the text file. Not an issue on 64 bit platform. The .NET application using Distiller to convert eps to PDF via Distiller and moves it over to a watch folder. Another application picks it up and bursts the large PDF to individual PDFs. I need to automatically convert txt to PDF and submit it for burst. Looking for ways to leverage Distiller to automatically convert the txt to PDF. Is it possible? Thanks.

  • Converting bmp file to pdf

    Hi all,
Please help me to solve this:
    1) convert bmp file to PDF( using FM) .
2)There can be many such bmp files ..append them to single pdf file after converting them.
    Thanks and Regards,
    KC

As has been discussed many times here before, you can't really merge PDF files programmatically in ABAP after they have been created.  Your best bet with this 'unique' requirement is to use a form-based approach I think.
With a smartform one approach is to create a single page with a window with a graphics node (dynamic name) in it, with the bitmap name specified in the form interface.  Unless you have already loaded the bitmaps in the graphics manager (SE78), you would load the bitmaps at runtime from the presentation server or the application server and then create the graphics dynamically using the methods of class CL_BDS_DOCUMENT_SET prior to calling the form for each bitmap (a topic discussed recently in the ABAP forums or you can view how SE78 does it by checking the code).  Create a merged spool and then use the standard function to convert the OTF data to PDF format.
A similar approach can be used with Adobe forms, but you would need to load the bitmaps to the web repository, not the graphics manager.
What exactly is in the bmp files and where are they stored?  Are they form templates?  You may get a better answer with more details.

  • Error: EXOpenExport() while converting xlsb file to PDF

I am getting this error while converting .XLSB file to PDF using IBR :Step PDFExport forced conversion failure by conversion engine because of error: EXOpenExport() failed: no filter available for this file type (0x0004). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for all your intrest.
The error message I get is... "an unexpected error occured. PDFMaker was unable to process the request".
When I then try to convert again, the system opens the ppt, but then does not do anything, and the error message does not show, for all presentations I try to convert.
I have also tried using the ribbon, but the button does not do anything once I have clicked.
I can print to PDF, but this provides an output which is not suitable, because it shows as if it each slide was printed on to paper and then put in PDF.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat to make sure nothing was corrupt.
