Advice on buying CS5 and Acrobat 3D (Mac and/or PC)?

hi all.
about to try and take the plunge here and was hoping for some technical advice, purchasing advice (where is the best place to buy, best time to buy etc) etc.
i believe i need to purchase the CS5 bundle which includes Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
i also would really love to get Adobe Acrobat to edit Metadata in pdf's. i am also trying to track down an Acrobat version that will let me insert real time rotatable models.
does anyone know if there is a package that will include all of the above? is there a best time to buy the CS5 package? is there a best place to buy the package or can i just go to my local Apple Store? etc.

I can't advise you on 3D, but you should really have done some basic browsing at Adobe's web site and come to this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/buying-guide.html?promoid=JOVXI (or one of its many variants).
Is there a best time to buy? Well, if you can still find someone selling CS5, it's probably a decent time to buy it since Adobe has announced it will be eligible for upgrade pricing to CS6. Though CS5.5 is the current version and much much easier to find. Typically Amazon has reasonable prices on the packages, slightly less than the Adobe store--just be wary of 3rd party sellers.
I suppose there will likely be a limited window after CS6 gets announced where may be entiteld to a free upgrade if you purchased CS5.5 during that window -- at least that has been the case in the past. But trying to predict it may be difficult, and CS6 isn't expected until April/May at the earliest, if one guesses based on CS5 and CS5.5 release dates.

Just install it like you did the first time (do not try to transfer it from the old machine in any way) - you can download thru your account if you purchased it as a download originally - otherwise there is a link for downloading below. Your serial number should be available thru your Adobe account online if your registered the software previously.

If you like you can leave it on the first machine as a backup because you are allowed to have two activated installations. If you wish to remove it from the older machine you should deactivate it first (open an application and choose Help -> Deactivate).

Your problem description is generalized and non-specific. I would make another appointment at the Apple store and insist they help you execute their suggested fixes.
Incidentally, if you search this site, Apple has excellent articles re: restoring a system.

While that is not a supported configuration (Acrobat 7 on Windows 8), some customers have been able to make it work. The thread I've referenced should give you some good pointers.

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience.

That is the correct behaviour, since your Mac probably came with the now free versions of iWork and iLife, but as your iPad is from 2011, it did not come with such free versions.
You sadly have to purchase the iLife and iWork products via the iOS App Store if you want to use them on your iPad 2.

Licensing Acrobat Pro Mac and Windows on same Mac

I have a large number Macs in our business running Creative Suite 6. A number of those operators also have a need to run LiveCycle Designer, which is a Windows only product. At present we buy addtional 4 GB RAM, VMWare Fusion and a Windows 7 licence in addition to purchasing a standalone copy of Acrobat for Windows. Is it really necessary for us to buy an additional licence for Windows Acrobat or would we be OK utilising the existing Mac Acrobat Pro licence?

If you're buying the perpetual license version of Creative Suite 6, you would have to buy separate licenses for Macintosh and Windows versions. If you're getting Creative Suite 6 through your subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud, you can mix your two eligible copies, and download both Windows and Mac versions.

Problems with Safari, Acrobat, Intel Macs, and Life Cycle Form Mgr.

Here is my problem:
A Mac user using 10.4.10, with Acrobat Standard Ed v.7.0.9 installed,
is having to approve purchase forms through Adober Life Cycle Form Manager
through Safari 2.0.4. When trying to approve the PDF forms, it tells her
she needs to have Acrobat v.7 installed, and only shows a white page.
Went back and launched Acrobat 7.0.9, and did the "Detect and Repair"
setting to verify the Adobe PDFViewer plugin was installed.
Said it was, checked the Library/Internet Plugins folder and it was.
Launched Safari, Safari's list of plug-ins does not show it as being installed.
Trashed the Safari .plist file, relaunched Safari, same thing.
Read on the Apple site that people were experiencing similar issues,
Read on Adobe's site that for Intel Macs, should be using v. 8.01.
Downloaded the 8.01 Acrobat Reader and installed it.
re-launched Safari, success, it says the plugin, v.8.01 is installed.
Go back to Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager, go to view a PDF,
at 100% screen size, PDF shows correctly. Zoom in on details,
PDF goes blank, will not show details. Zoom back out,
PDF goes white page, no info displayed.
My Questions:
1. is it an issue with Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager and Safari on Intel Macs?
2. Is there a way to get a proper plug in for Safari, so that Acrobat will read the PDFs
instead of the default Preview?

Bridge and ATI 3870 Mac and PC edition

I've been playing around with the PhotoShop CS4 trial but seem to be having some issues with Bridge. My first problem was with Bridge simply locking up after moving a panel. This problem did not occur when moving panels in PS. Finally after running DiskWarrior, repairing permissions, clearing the caches, uninstalling and the reinstalling PS that problem seems to be gone.
My current problem is that when I try to view a slide show or do a full screen view all I get is a grey screen, pictures do not display. A search of the forums seems to point towards underpowered video cards, but this was on older systems then mine. My current card is not listed as supported for CS4 but its a newer card and is fully OpenGL 2.0 compliant (the old card that I replaced was listed).
Here are my system specs:
MacPro 2 dual-core processors 2.66 GHz
5 GB of certified memory
ATI Radeon HD 3870 Mac and Windows edition
the vidoe card has 512 MB of VRAM
I'm running OS X 10.5.5
A Google search did not reveal any known conflicts between this card and Bridge.

No, only that the first item on the list Preveiw Panel does work, the others do not.

Thank you both for your help. When I tried reseting the Bridge preferences by closing Bridge and then reopening with the option key held down something strange happened. Two instances of Bridge opened up, both were reset to default, and neither would play a slide show.
I'm beginning to think I have a corrupted file somewhere. I used the Adobe Uninstaller when I reinstalled PS the first time, but I don't think it removes all the files. I'll try again manually.

You three would do better to sync to google directly. Google has a blackberry app that will allow you to sync your contacts and calendars. The app isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well, especially if you're just using one calendar to sync.
Then there's plenty of ways to sync those to your iPad using Google, including Exchange, or simply adding it as a google account.
As for iCloud, there really isn't any supported or unsupported method to do what you're trying to do, at least at this time. If there is, it would definitely be a hack and I would be wary of risking your contact or calendar data on it..

Different playlists and sings on mac and iphone

If I change my personal playlists on my mac they wont sync with my iphone! two days ago i changed an entire playlist and on my iPhone it is still the same as before. I have tried restarting my iphone, logging in and out, syncing it from my mac and reinstalling spotify on mac and iPhone. I'm getting tierd of listening to the same songs on my iPhone.. HELP ME :)

I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro ver XI online. Web site said purchase price entitles purchaser to install on 2 separate computers. After making purchase, when I went to download software, I noted that order says I bought the full Windows version. I was never asked whether I wanted Windows or Mac versions, I suspect it detected the machine I was using. I need product for two computers, one is Windows based, the other is a Mac. How do I download and install product to both computers? And if I cannot, I prefer to download to my Mac, how do I switch what I purchased. I have not yet downloaded anything at all. If you rent a film on your work's Mac then it will download on that Mac - rentals are a one-time only download, they will download on the device/computer that they are rented on. If you want it on your iPad then you will either need to rent it directly on the iPad, or rent and download it on the computer that you sync it to and then connect the iPad and move the rental over to it.
