Advice on exporting a 100min movie to the USA? HDV etc

Hi Guys,
I have made a small 100min movie for a friend in the USA.
I have filmed it on Sony PAL HDV 50i and exported that to DVD. (he has a multi regional dvd player)
Is there any way I can get a higher res copy to him? He has an HDTV and a HDD video camera. (i assume ntsc)
I was thinking that the only way would be to export an .avi to an external hard drive then he could import it in to his software package then watch somehow through his cam?
I was worried about the 50i frame rate. Would that make things tricky? or jittery?
Basically, can you tell me a good way to get a high res copy to him?
Many thanks
scott

No, use Adobe Media Encoder. Just make sure his TV supports PAL playback (multi norm) and WMV, otherwise he will be limited to PC playback. Let him tell you what file formats on a USB stick are supported by his TV. Maybe H264, or MPEG2 or whatever. Choose the right codec accordingly.

You can only buy content from your own country's store, to buy from the US store you will need to be in the US with a US billing address on your account. You can try requesting that the film be added to the Australian store, but unless the film studio/rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • I live in Europe France can I only download movies from the French Itunes site or is there a way for me to get english movies from the USA

I live in Europe, France, I want to use apple TV, but people tell me that the english movies on the French Itunes are very limited, do I have a way to get more English movies downloaded from Itunes?

There have been three or four questions like this one today relating to the apple stores in various countries.  You have to have an account, credit card and address in the country in which the store resides.  So you need a US store account, credit card and address to use the US store.
Since I used to live in France, have been frustrated trying to buy books and music from the French app store.

  • I need advice after purchasing a MacBook Pro in the USA for use in the UK.

    Hello all out there,
I bought a 13 inch MacBook Pro in the USA last week and brought it back with me to the UK. I had been given an Apple World Adapter kit by the gentleman in the apple store, however I realised today that it isn't for the MacBook Pro and is only for iPads, iphones and ipods. This means that despite paying around $40, I am stuck. I need advice as to how to charge the laptop in the UK now? Is there an adapter for this or can I use any ordinary USA to UK adapter and stick it to the one I have from the USA?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Zainab

AFAIK, the World Adapter kit has a replacement PLUG for the power brick. What you need is just something that can go into your country's wall socket, as the power brick itself is universal and can work from 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
In other words, you ARE aware that the power brick has removable plugs on the AC end, right?

  • Please help.  Exporting 37 minute movie and the video is stuck

I'm creating my annual year in review trivia contest for a party we're having this weekend. I've done lots of importing, editing, questions, sounds, etc. I exported the video using the "expert" settings, to apple TV. About 8 minutes into it, it locks up on a video clip (i.e. a still frame look) but the audio keeps going as it should. But the video just hangs.
I'm not sure if this is related, but I was downloading a bunch of stuff off youtube and it was saving in a .flv format. Early on I was converting these to another format to work with the programs. But then I found that the .flv format would import straight into imovie and I could see the clips and edit them just fine. Now I'm wondering if somehow these flv clips are causing a hiccup in the export process?
I've already edited everything so I'd really like to avoid re-importing these bad clips again. If I have to do that I'll probably throw in the towel as it will be too much work to duplicate.
Is there a way around this problem?
    Thanks much.

    Beverly,
Thanks much for the note. I think maybe you were responding to my other post about chapters rather than this post about the video sticking? Not sure.
Since making this post I experimented with deleting the video file that was the one getting "stuck" on the converted video. Since deleting that video, the movie will publish correctly. So I think I fixed that one. Must have had a corrupt file or something.
Since that other post about chapter markers I've imported the movie to IDVD, used IDVD to generate a DVD folder, then used handbrake to convert it. That seems to be working though I think there should be a quicker way to do this using only imovie HD.
Your idea is one I hadn't thought of....regardless of which problem you are addressing (this post about the video being stuck, or my other post about chapter markers), I'm not sure how this resolves either problem though. Sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

  • Exporting Audio to Movie

It seems problematic to export music to movie if the film is not placed at bar 1.
Sometimes it works even by using extensively the Beat Mapping. Some other time the music is not synch to the movie.
The solution I found was to bounce the project and lock the result to the SMPTE, then to place the movie at bar 1. I think this is a problem I face only with LP9.
    Am I alone with this?

what format of movie are you scoring to?
    Depending ...
Try iMovieHD or Quick Time Pro (not Quick Time).

  • Export to Quicktime Movie rerendering. Why?

    Hi
I have a DV project edited in FCP 5.11 which is all completely rendered. It's actually made up of a number of sequences joined end to end each of which is rendered before rendering the final 'top' sequence. There are some heavily rendered motion still sections in there, so I don't really want to render them again.
However when I Export to Quicktime Movie, using the current settings, ie not making a self-contained movie, it takes hours to render and looks like it is rerendering everything I painstakingly made sure was rendered to full quality already. Is there anything I can do to stop it doing this? (I am doing this to make things much easier for Compressor, rendering the whole project as a referenced movie.)
    Thanks for your attention.

Just checking that you are, in fact, leaving the menu as Current Settings... and not changing it to match the settings of your timeline...
Also, you say you are not making a self contained movie - you've left that unchecked? Are you sure you don't have any gray realtime bars over the top of your clips - resize, dissolve, etc don't require rendering until export. You need to check the Render All menu (opt-r) under Sequence has everything checked...

  • How do I export a finished movie created in iLife 08 to a HD camcorder?

Does anyone know how to export a movie I finished in iLife 08 to my Canon HD camcorder? The last version of iMovie HD 06 had this option. I was able export a finished movie back to my HD camcorder and play it in real HD on my home theatre. I checked with Apple support and they could not help. I don't know why they took this feature away? I have tried exporting an 08 movie with the 06 version but it does not allow it? Why?

    Welcome to discussions.
I do not have imovie 08, but here goes a guess.
Are you able to export it as a full quality Dv (QuickTime) movie?
If so, do that and then open that new QT movie in imovie 6.
    Export to camera from there.

  • An old "export audio to movie" bug returns in 9.02?

    Hey
Maybe it's just me, but I could've sworn they'd fixed this one...
I remember for a while when you'd use the "export audio to movie" feature, the sound would sometimes be about half a second late. Then that was apparently fixed... But now it's back again in 9.02
My previous work around was to bounce the audio mix, then drag it back into the timeline as a stereo .aif file. I'd solo that track, make sure PDC is set to "ALL" then use 'Export Audio to Movie'.
And - before you ask - no, there were no latency inducing plugs on the master output bus. No limiters, gates, in fact no plugs at all on this particular project.
No matter what I did, the Quicktime bounce was always out of sync. When I just 'play' the project, the 2-pop from my audio and the video cue beep/flash frame line up perfectly. Everything plays back fine. But when I use "Export Audio to Movie", my Logic soundtrack is about half a second late throughout.
Anyone else notice this? Any suggested fixes?
I know some people are having a great time with L9, but I'm sorry to say I'm solidly in the "sorry I upgraded" camp.
I'm starting to appreciate L8 more every day...

    iSchwartz wrote:
You can work around this problem in QT without having to deal with Logic at all, provided your film has a timecode burn. Open the movie in QT. Trim it down if necessary. Assuming your 2-pop is what your cue starts off with (with no dead audio before it), open your 2-mix in QT, select ALL, CMD-C copy. Now your mix is in the clipboard. Back to the movie window, set the playhead of the movie so that you're seeing the desired start frame. Use CMDOPTV to place the music into the movie. Trim the movie as needed. Export.
If you want to save the movie, be sure to save it under a new name. Saving as a proxy (reference) will save disk space.
Good tip - thanks. Unfortunately, this film doesn't have a time code burn. And while I've used the method above in the past, I always find it a little finicky to make exact trims in QT because you don't have the fine frame-by-frame control sometimes... I think.
But the thing is, I exported audio to movies with perfect sync all summer long in L8. I did about 60 cues for one client this summer, all with quicktimes, and not a single problem.
Now, since "upgrading" to 9, I can't get the audio to export with the same sync it has on playback no matter what I do. Sure seems like a bug to me....
I'm going to try some more experiments today if I get time. I want to see if changing buffer sizes or PDC settings has any effect....
    Hm.

  • Logic pro x export audio to movie

    Hi!
I'm running into problems when exporting a quicktime movie from Logic Pro X with a cue. The weird thing is, on my computer, the exported video plays back properly (outside of logic) with the music, and everything is fine and well – but when I send that file to the director, there is no music in it!! On her computer it only has the films SFX track. I saw other threads about trouble actually getting the audio to export, but I think I'm doing that fine.
    Here's what I've been doing:
Bounce all music together with the film's audio track, so that ALL the audio is on one track.
Click export audio to movie, select the track.
Am I missing something? This is super weird.
I'm using Logic Pro X, on Yosemite 10.10.1
    Thanks in advance!
    Mike

First of all, did you listen back to the QUickTIme file after the bounce? Are you saying that you hear you score and when the director plays "the same" quicklime file" she hears only the SFX? That would be strange, unless she opened the quicktime file and messed around in the properties window.
About the Movie export. You don't have to bounce your music fist. Whatever your state is at the moment in your Project that is what you "Export to video". There is only one  (often overlooked) step. After you click ok in the Save Dialog, there is one extra "Choose tracks to export" window coming up (see screenshot). It shows you the audio track(s) that are embedded in the original quicktime file. LPX 10.1 now has a new checkbook to make it clear:
Check: You include the original audio track with your mix
Unchecked: You don't include the embedded audio track and only your  Logic mix will end up to be the new audio track of the new quicktime file.
    Hope that helps

  • Export Audio to Movie - NOT IN SYNC ANYMORE in 9.1??

This is either a major, major bug or I am completely out of it.
When I do an export audio to movie command, the resulting Quicktime movie has the audio and video not synced as they were in Logic.
I have just upgraded to 9.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 this week. I am having this problem with the 32-bit version of Logic.
Most of my sessions have the movie start time pushed forward or back to suit the start of the audio. I had NO problem in 9.0.2 with this feature.
ALSO.... what's the deal with the the 64-bit Audio bridge plug-in windows? Do we always have to do a double-click to open the actual GUI now-on? Totally s**ks.
    Thanks.

Are the movie start times and sequence start times the same? For example, do both the music and the audio start at beat 1, bar 1?
I've found that Logic 9 doesn't maintain the same sync that your project has. In other words, if your video doesn't have a 'pre-roll', but your audio has a one bar count in, then the "bounce to movie" feature will have audio that is out by 1 bar. It's kinda dumb, because Logic should be smart enough to know you want to export the same audio/video sync as you have in your project. But alas it doesn't work that way...
Other possible culprits are latency-inducing plugs on the master bus, like limiters and 3rd party DSP plugins (UAD, Duende, etc).
One workaround I've started using is to bounce my audio mix first, then bring it back on a clean track and trim it to start on the exact same frame as the movie. Then solo the 'mix' audio track and "export to movie" (being sure to bypass any master buss plugins first, so the mix doesn't get processed a 2nd time). this usually works, and also makes it easier to keep track of revised mixes as you go ahead (just make copies of your 'mix' track and mute earlier versions).
    good luck.

  • Grr. LPX doesn't properly export my QuickTime movies.

Here's the bug report I just submitted:
I never had this problem in LP9 and have no idea why it should be a problem now with 10.0.4. I create a ProRes QuickTime with Final Cut. I check the movie, and it's fine. I open it in LPX, import the audio (I've also tried "extracting" it). I normalize the audio and add a limiter, then export a new movie at the same sample and bit rate (48k/24) . Not only is the audio in the new QuickTime consistently a few frames behind the picture, but the new movie also has some duplicate frames. Good lord - I'm doing professional high-end work and this is supposed to be a Pro app. Accurately copying the picture from a QuickTime file should be a no-brainer for Apple. Please don't turn into Microsoft and start releasing stuff you should know doesn't work properly…or is it too late?
Late addition: I just rechecked my LP9 and there's no QT issue there, so I guess I'll be using that until Apple fixes this. Or does anybody have a solution that doesn't involve a lot of extra steps?

    Scott,
As I mentioned earlier.. From what I understand...  The issue isn't with Logic.. It's with QT and it's that Dev team that is responsible for any fixes..
Have you posted in their forum?

  • No audio when exporting audio to movie using DAE

I'm starting to merge my DAE world into Logic and so far so good, until I try to export audio to movie.
The movie bounces out really fast and then there's no audio on it. Is there something special I have to do to bounce audio to movies when using DAE?

can i import it into iMovie and then export to ipod?
Any attempt to import or drop a non-DV file into iMovie will automatically invoke a routine which will convert the source file into a DV file for editing within iMovie. Since QT cannot create separate audio and video tracks for a muxed (combined single audio/video track), you with still end up with a video track and no audio in iMovie.
The normal work flow is to rip the VCD and then convert the muxed program stream into an MPEG1 and then use an MPEG based third party application to convert to an iPod compatible format. Applications like MPEG2 Works 4 ($25)can perform all phases of this operation and I assume (but have not tested) that MPEG StreamClip (free) may also be capable of handling VCD/SVCD sourced programs.
