Advice on Slideshow program

I'd like to purchase Fotomagico 3.0 to create personal slideshows. However, I'm confused about the pro vs express versions. My ultimate goal is to play these slideshows on my Sony PS3, which recognizes MP4. Can I just buy the express version and accomplis this task? Or does the pro version allow for the highest quality output? I think the express version will only export high quality .mov files. Does that mean I would need to buy an additional converter? Or would it be a lot easier to buy the pro version?

Hi Jon,
I've used DVDxDV before with success. Easy to use and the quality is pretty good as well. Outputs to quicktime full ntsc file as well (maybe you can do PAL as well if you need it).
quick question and apologies if this sound silly:
you're not using your extracted DVD footage as the final footage are you? Or, is it for dailies? Asking because the final quality won't be as good as the original b/c you are compressing/uncompressing and re-compressing again. I have a feeling you may know this, but i wanted to mention it just in case.

  • A simple slideshow program for 68k OS7 Macs suggestions pls

I'm looking for a simple slideshow program for my old 68k OS7 Macs. I just want to have some PICTs display on a set time period or key press. Nothing fancy.
I can get Claris to this but wonder if HyperCard can. I'm no expert on HC but it seems to be designed for this exact job. Do I need to find a "stack" or some already made item to open in HC then attach my piks? Any suggestions?

It would be possible to use HyperCard, although you may need to do a little programming if you go with it. If you use a blank HyperCard stack, you can assign one picture per card and link them. Clickable buttons would be the easiest way to do this. Which version of HyperCard are you using?
An old version of PowerPoint would work fine too. Anything older than PowerPoint 98 runs on a 68K unless you are using a 68000 processor, in which case you'll need one of the pre-1994 versions.
Believe it or not, Kid Pix is a possible answer to this as well. Any version from Kid Pix 2 onward (as well as the Kid Pix Companion addon for the original Broderbund version) contains an application called Slide Show, which is used with files in the PICT format. You can display an image for up to 30 seconds and add transitions between slides.

  • Where can I find a basic slideshow program?

Does anyone know of a basic program that would allow me to view folders of photos on my iMac? There used to be a slideshow program you could download for free that offered the simple service of allowing you to click on any given folder and look at each image in a slideshow. There's iPhotos but I don't want to have to pop open iPhoto and add any new pics in those folders as well as add them to photos on my harddrive. I just want to keep my photos in their specific folders on my harddrive and be able to boot up a slideshow program to view them whenever folder I want to.
    Can anyone recommend anything?
Much, much thanks for any help. Much appreciated.

I was looking for the same thing on Windows.  There's Adobe Bridge which comes with Photoshop and/or the Creative Suite but that makes copies of your images to a specified folder and resizes the images for a gallery (either PDF or in your web browser as an HTML gallery or a Flash gallery).
If you know Flash and Actionscript you can make an XML-based slideshow by creating an xml directory listing and using that as a foundation for your Flash gallery without disturbing your hard-drive structure.  The downside is there's a memory limitation to what is displayed in your slideshow if you don't code properly.  Which is my current problem with creating this type of slideshow.  Hopefully I will learn better coding practices or someone can recommend a good solution along these lines for me with coding snippets for assistance.

  • Slideshow program?

I think I saw a list of slideshow programs here recently but
    let it go
by without saving it. I need a slideshow to add to web pages:
    * It should open any of n thumbnails on the page to show the
    full-size
image. The full-size image doesn't have to appear to "grow"
    out of the
thumbnail or anything like that. It just has to appear,
    ideally in the
    middle of the screen.
    * When open, it should allow the user to close the image with
    an
clearly-identifiable close button as well as by simply
    clicking anywhere
    outside the image.
    * When open, it should allow the user to step forward and/or
    backwards
through all of the photos represented by thumbnails on the
    page.
    * The user controls to be graphics I make (as an option)
    * The slideshow should not be hindered by pop-up blocking
    settings in a
    browser
    I do not want:
    * The screen to darken as the photo loads and displays
    * A block of solid color to open and animate itself to the
    size of the
    image before showing it
I am aware of the Project VII slideshow, but I don't think it
    will work
as I want because of the above two disqualifiers.

  • Multiple copies for Payment advice using standard program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM

    Hi Experts,
I have one requirement, need to print the payment advice form twice (one for account section and other for vedor). According to the existing process it uses standard SAP print program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM OR RFFOUS_C (for cheque payment) to print the output.
When I tried to print the output by giving number of copies, it prints test pages but not the actual output. The actual payment advice note with proper values getting printed only once. I actually need to print this actual payment advice note twice.
Do you experts know how to achive this? is there any configuration available to get this requirement? OR how can i do this without chaning Standard SAP program?
Thanks in advace for your help..
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi,
2 times printing can be done using Sap script.however, it would call for changes to your driver prog...
in function call CALL FUNCTION 'OPEN_FORM'....u need to add  g_ITCPO-TDCOPIES = '2' and pass g_itcpo to OPTIONS structure of the FM.With this you can ahve 2 copied of ur output. I just test printed it.
So in your case as yours is a standard program, you could probably create a copy of the Standard program and  add the above logic in your program.
    hope this help

  • Advice reg RFFOUS_C program

    Hi all,
we are using RFFOUS_C to print checks. We had a requirement of printing with bottom line software. we have to pass the data from RFFOUS_C to bottom line software.
Right now we copied the orginal program and commented all the forms and passed the data to unix file.
I thought there would be a better way than that. Are there any user exits enhancement points to change the selection screen and decativate all the forms and pass the data to unix file.
If any one of you had the same requirement. I would appreciate the advice  .I am on ECC 6.0 system
    Thanks

I am in 5.0 ECC now, and I think what you have done is the best solution for your issue, and I feel that is the only best and safest way to solve your issue as there are no exits provided for that program and also the program is not generated by sonme configuration.
I can say that what you have done is right and go ahead with that.
: Remember : The only to say thanks is by rewarding points.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Voice commentary advice on slideshows

Hello. I use both Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 and Adobe Audition 2.0. Need some advice. I have a slideshow that requires different voice commentaries on each slide with music. I know I can just multi-track in Audition (voice and music). What's the best way to do "sync" the slides to the different voice commentary? I know in some less powerful DVD authoring software, you can add voice commentary to each slide then it is all mix at DVD creation. Or will I just have to watch the slideshow and "talk it through" while recording in Audition?
    Any help would be appreciated.

The best & easiest way is as you suggest - record it whilst watching the clips.
It's the only way to be certain it is all in perfect sync.

  • Slideshow programs?

In three days time I need a program that can generate a slideshow using all the images in a directory and loop continuously. I also need this program to add new images to the slideshow as they're added to the folder. I was going to use the slideshow mode in gthumb, but it doesn't add new images to the slideshow without restarting it. Can anyone suggest a program?

You can use a script to periodically create a link named current to files in directory, and use feh's -R switch (reload switch). This works very good.
This is rotate.sh script with 2 second slideshow delay:
    #!/bin/bash
    while true; do
    for filename in *; do
    if (test "$filename" != "current" && test "$filename" != "rotate.sh"); then
    ln -fs "$filename" current
    sleep 2
    fi
    done
    done
You put it in the directory where images are, and start it there. Then you start feh like this:
    $ feh -R 1 /path/to/images_dir/current
Just make sure that feh's refresh interval is shorter than slideshow interval, otherwise it might miss some images.

  • Advice on slideshows

    Hi All,
So im now developing another site and i need to display a photo gallery. I have it in my head to have slices, rectangular in shape of several pictures that are positioned in the middle of the page, that fade in and out, all at different times. Can anyone advise me on the best slideshow function to use for this?
Also, would i be right in thinking the way to do this would be to have a sideshow for each slice/picture element. That way i can adapt the timing to be different for each. If that all makes sense?!
    All help appreciated!

jQuery Cycle 2 is probably the easiest to implement, it also has some nice features and good documentation to get you going...

  • Your advice about my program: WapcamServer1.3

    Hello everyone,
I made a webcam server soft, which has pretty advanced features and transform your usb-cam into an IP-cam.
It has its own webserver, an FTP upload feature as well as motion detection.
I have little feedbask about it, so I'd like you all to tell me what you think about it. What you would expect from such a program, what I did wrong, and of course some bug reports.
Thank you in advance for your help

    Hi,
I tried your soft: great job !!!
It just lacks a little documentation, but is quite easy to use.
The webserver is very nice, even the icons are not so easy to read.
Motion detector is waow, very impressive, what library did you use?
I also appreciated that it appears in the tray on mu KDE desktop
Keep up the good work :,)

  • Need advice picking a program

First of all, if this is the wrong form, may the MOD SQUAD people move it to a good place.
The powers that be above me have decided that since I teach television that I can teach animation (2d and 3d), and have commanded me to start planning a new course in said subject. I know how animation works, and I have done some in Flash, Motion, and a bit in After Effects. However, its not my strong point.
They want me to get a program that can do 2d and/or 3d animation that looks good and can be considered professional. I want one that I can easilly learn over a couple months and is within the grasp of high school students.
And of course, it has to be Mac based. I run a lab with Intel iMacs (if something has to run in Rosetta I don't care, I am not one of those people who gets my jollies ruined because it takes an extra ten seconds for something to render). Most have the seperate graphics cards (some 128, some 256), and either 1 or 2 gigs of RAM. They do not want me to rely on what I have right now... I can use FCP, Motion, AE... but there has to be a new program to focus around. And there is a possibility that I may have to involve a camera for claymation type stuff depending on state standards.
I would be grateful for any suggestions for software for a high school level animation class.
BTW, if this is out of bounds on this board, please forgive me. I figure this is the best place for suggestions, rather than registering at a bunch of random Mac boards.

They want me to get a program that can do 2d and/or
3d animation that looks good and can be considered
    professional.
...and/or? Motion is strictly 2d, AE has 3d compositing. If you want to teach 3d modeling/animation, you have to get a program that does just that.
I want one that I can easilly learn
over a couple months and is within the grasp of high
    school students.
I have to chuckle a bit. I think 3d animation software has to have one of the highest learning curves in creative applications. If you think you're gonna pick this up quickly, you might be in for a surprise.
    I can use FCP,
Motion, AE... but there has to be a new program to
    focus around.
So you're teaching a class using FCP, Motion and AE and you want to tack on a fourth program? Yikes, I hope your students are brilliant, because that sort of ciricullum would push most college programs to the brink...
It sounds to me like you have everything you need to handle the 2d stuff, and what you're lacking is something that will allow you to build 3d models and animations. A program like Maya would be total overkill in this situation. While I haven't used it personally, I hear Cinema4D is a lot more approachable for the casual 3d artist.
From the sound of it, this sounds like a highly ambitious class. I hope it goes well.

  • Need advice on choosing programs for laying out and editing books

I've been editing books in Microsoft Word but my clients are asking me to help do the layout and prep to take their books to a printer.
I am looking to find out what the least expensive (for now) but necessary programs I would need to purchase in order to take a book from a Word manuscript to print-ready.
Please let me know what programs I need (at a minimum) - someone mentioned InDesign and InCopy, would I need anything else?
I will also need to purchase a new laptop and need to know what the minimum requirements would be to run such programs i.e. how much hard drive space, speed and ram.
I currently have a Gateway, but it is dying.
    Thank you.

As Daniel says, if you have InDesign and you're the only one working on the docuument, that's all you need. Think of InCopy as a hugely-stripped-down version with only the text editor in it, but you can do everything you need in InDesign (either writing the text directly into the document, or importing formatted text from Word). InDesign has great typography features and a basic spellchecker, Word has less-advanced typography but can check grammar.
The typical workflow in a newsroom will split copywriting from layout, as the journalists aren't allowed to format the page and the graphics dept can't write articles. So, the text is written in InCopy by a bunch of people, who then pass the content to someone with InDesign who imports it and lays out the issue. InCopy basically allows people to write a chunk of text that will fit in a certain space, but it doesn't care what the overall document looks like. It has some very powerful features for collaboration, but to put it bluntly, text is text - provided you get the styles mapping sorted, ID doesn't care where it comes from.
Unless you're working with this split-job-role system there's no reason you'd need to use InCopy.
    OLIVE C. F. wrote:
Thank you for the tips. I will need InCopy then as that is a major part of what I do.

  • What is the best program to create a HD 1080p slideshow?

A little advice on what the best program is for creating high quality HD (1080p) slide shows from hires jpegs.  I'm not at all interested in burning the slideshows to DVD.
Until now I've used iMovie HD 6, iMovie '09, and  iPhoto on our mac mini that runs SnowLeopard.
With iMovie  HD 6 the transitions (cross dissolve and overlap) come out quite un-smooth look bad.  Also HD 6 will not do 1080p, only 1080i.
With iMovie '09  photos that are portrait oriented (as opposed to landscape) often get poorly cropped.
iPhoto simply does not have the editing flexibility I need.
I've tried the demo version of Fotomagico and although the resulting slideshow is stunning, on my machine the program is almost impossible to work with because of its sluggishness.  It is painfully slow in responding to all mouse moves. Dragging an image on the Stage is very difficult because the image lags behind the mouse so by the time the little green alignment guides come on to show center or edge alignment -- the image is already past that point.  There is also a huge lag changing images on the stage.   Also the spinning color wheel appears way too frequently.
Photo to Movie, based on their website, Photo to Movie can produce HD quality video.  Does anyone have any experience in comparing Photo to Movie with any of the iMovies?
Other than FCP, what do you folks think is best slideshow program for producing 1080p shows?

Ditto what Matthew said about Photo to Movie.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:
