Advice on what the best cover is.... please help

Some of you may have read my previous posts about how unhappy I am with my zCover silicone skin. I hate it so much that I want to replace it. I was thinking about getting the speck toughksin so could anybody who has this tell me what they feel about this. Also is it silicone and does the silicone attract loads of dust, clothing bits etc? If anybody has got anything else that is durable, has a v good screen protector, can withstand quite alot and doesn't attract clothes and dust bits etc I would apprecicate hearing about those as well. Finally does anybody have the agent 18 case and whats it like and have you been able to get it from a UK/European site?
Lots of questions I know but I would really appreciate some answers

Sorry were you talking about the toughskin or zCover, if its the toughskin would you say that it is a problem and is something that is likely to damage the iPod ie scratch the screen. On my zCover it seems to pick up loads, not just dust but also, bits of cotton, and stuff from wherever it is.

Apparently you can have 5 computers registered for iTunes. I have 3 active computers but I guess I have other computers that are still activated that I no longer use and I no longer have as they crashed. Is there a way to delete or see what the other computers are so that I can go in and delete them? I've tried to email Apple directly but apparently I need my hardware # and obviously I do not have that # since I don't have the equipment any longer. Any help is greatly appreicated. I am trying to add another computer and it won't allow me to as they say I'm at my limit. Please help!

Just open up iTunes on your computer -> Go to the iTunes Store -> Click your e- maill address (top right corner of the window) -> Type in your password for your Apple ID -> Under Computer Authorisations (underneath your Apple ID account balance and address) -> Press 'Deauthorise All'
-> This will deauthorise all computers and devices from your iTunes account -> you then need to re- authorise any computers/ devices you would like to use with your Apple ID for iTunes content -> to do this, select the Store tab along the menu at the top (where 'File', 'Edit', 'View' etc..... are) -> Then click 'Authorise this Computer' -> Type in your Apple ID -> Voila!
For any iOS devices (non- computers) you wish to re- authorise, these will automatically do so when you go to play iTunes content, download an app or anything like that on those devices!

Logic 8 & 9 struggling to cope with adding just 5 o6 6 instances of sample-based plug-ins, e.g. 2 x trilogy, 2 x KontaktPlayer, 2 x EastWest. It says memory is running low.
I'm running a Mac Pro 2.26 8-Core with 6GB RAM, I would have thought that that would be plenty. Leopard (will upgrade to Snow Leopard soon, but dont know if that will make any difference)
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Anything I should be doing?
Thanks1) Yeah, Hans probably uses a lot of techniques like that that would surprise us... probably a lot of outboard stuff too which would certainly lighten his load a bit.
2) There's really nothing out there (in my small scope of knowledge) that can host AU's that's gonna be able to run 2 Trilogys, 2 Kontakts and 2 EastWests with no problems... those are all really hefty on the CPU and RAM since the libraries are so large.
What you may want to try with each of these is putting all, if any, AU effects to bus tracks that are not active while the track is being recorded. This will lighten the load for each instrument a little, also try using the app iFreeMem. It's worked for me in the past for clearing up minor RAM issues.
The real issue right now is that your instruments outweigh your software. Your hardware will handle anything the DAW can throw at it, but not many DAWs can throw that much.... You may want to consider using Nodes also... just a thought. -

I got macbook pro about a year and a half ago and up until now it has been running fine.
However, in the last few days, it has been started to run tediously slowly!
It wont allow me to open applications and i have to force quit out of any applications I finally manage to have because they freeze or stop responding.
On Google Chrome, pages become unresponsive every few minutes.
Even writing this post took more than 20 minutes as the laptop kept freezing and the webpage became unresponsive.
It also randomly shuts off and when it restarts, a message comes up saying my Macbook was restarted because of an error.
I haven't downloaded or updated anything that I know of recently that would have caused this.
Ive been reading through some of the fourms on this and I thought it'd be helpfull to post some of the information you may need to help me solve this problem!

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -

hey guys i got a 30 gig video ipod for christmas and i installed the itunes and quick times without a problem but when i double click the itunes icon the screen that has the terms and conditions of itunes comes up but it exits by itself as if it's set to decline, but when i tried to install it on my sisters computer there was no problem... could it be a memory problem or a firewall? help would be appreciated

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

The best cover is the one that suites your needs. Try Google. There are dozens on the market.
As for the Apple Smart Cover, it does work with the new iPad. There are a few reported issues with it, but that doesn't come close to representing the totality of folks with it. -

I have an issue with my computer. the volume was working fine on wednesday june 29th 2011 (thats the last I could remember) and today is july 3rd 2011. so when I start the computer up it does not let me play anything trough the iTunes volume when I start a song it goes immediately to pause but no sound comes out. When I click on the volume in the menu bar it does not allow me to raise the volume up, nor does it allow me to play volume through my speakers when I am on youtube.com. AND when I go to system preferences it has checked off that it is on mute, BUT it is a light gray color and it does not let me check the setting off. please help! what do I do? I think it is still under warranty because it is only between 11 months-12 months old.

Start by running SW update. It's not that there is a specific fix, but when updating it may rewrite some system files which may get this going again purely as a side affect. Worth a go, and should not harm the system.
Try reset the PRAM - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Hopefully one of these quick fixes works, otherwise we'll need to try isolate the issue next - so if still having a problem, I'd try create a new user and login as that user to see if the issue persists (which will tell us if it's system wide or user specific) -
External drives... whats the best for video.... ?

I'm trying to figure out what the best bang for the buck is in regards to external drives, and what works best for video.
I have considered the LaCie enclosures, I have also considered buying a 500 GB SATA to replace the 200 GB second drive I have inside the G5. The issue than is what enclosure works the best with a MAC and is 1394 and will the firm ware support huge video files, for render or exporting?
Can anyone give some advice based on what they have learned through past experience.
ThanksI've been using LaCie FW (800 & 400) drives for about three years now with only one problem - One of the first drives I bought (I think it was a 120 GB) fried itself a few months ago. I currently have 80GB, 120 GB, 400GB and 500 GB drives, all working fine, never have dropped frames. The LaCie drives are pretty tough too, as I've sent most of them back and forth across the country at least a few times with no problems.
However, be careful if you update the firmware for them - make sure the drive is clean as the firmware update can cause corruption of data on the drive (I found that out the hard way!). Also keep in mind that they do put off a fair amount of heat (especially the big ones) so I wouldn't consider stacking them on top of each other horizontally. -

The advice to go to Compressor left out the part that you may want to convert your audio to AC3 becaus ethe MPEG2 bitrate is probably too high for DVD specs.
This method is in the DVDSP manual and it's in the Compressor manual, both difficult to locate, but easily searchable.
Here's what I'd do: Export the timeline form FCP in the native sequence settings, self-contained. Bring that self-contained movie into DVDSP and let DVDSP handle the transcode.
The advice to go to iDVD is even easier.

Has anyone tried 1 terabyte drives with Apple G5 PCI RAID card 1M9699g?
