Advice to connect preamp (Line6 Toneport) to Creative 5.1 speakers?

Hello all,
I have the Inspire P5800 5.1 speakers and was wondering what would be the best way to monitor the output of a preamp (the Line6 Toneport) directly through the speakers, to avoid the latency of going through my soundcard. I was thinking of something like this:
http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--HOSCMP5
Will it work if I connect the 1/8 end of the cable into the aux in located directly on the subwoofer? Basically I would like to know the best way to connect two 1/4 mono outputs into my 5.1 speaker system.
Thanks for your help!

I can confirm that with the 3.5mm toslink adapter the MacBook does give full 5.1 surround sound.
This is true but not the complete story.
Using a toslink cable you can get 5.1 surround sound from DVDs recorded with Dolby surround sound (and very effective it is, too). However, you won't get 5.1 sound from audio applications and games. For this, you need to buy an external 5.1 adapter, and right now I wouldn't know which one to recommend since the obvious choice (Griffin FireWave) is no longer being produced and it's Fire Wire anyway.

  • Connecting Creative 5.1 Speakers to my MacBook

Hi, I'm new to Apple and just got a MacBook.
How can I connect my Creative 5.1 Speakers to my new MacBook? What accessories do I need if the MacBook natively supports this or is there an external sound card that is compatible?
    Cheers

  • Recording at 96k with Line6 Toneport not possible with Audition??

Is anyone else out there using a Line 6 Toneport device to record in Audition? This is a 96k recording device but choosing "96k" is not possible in Audition. I just spoke to Line 6 support and they say it's the fault of Audition. They say I have to choose 96k within Audition but I don't have to do that with my other devices. I'm able to record at 96 using other devices no problem by choosing in in the device control panel. The Line6 Toneport control panel doesn't give 96k as an option.
So Line 6 tells me that it's impossible to record at 96k in Audition. Please tell me it isn't so???
    Anyone got any help here?
    thanks!

A slight departure from previous behavior is that Audition no longer automatically changes the sample rate of your device.  There were too many problems when switching between different applications (e.g. between Premiere Pro and Audition, or Audition and Windows Media Player, etc) and the clock setting changing on the device, and then the device "freaking out" (to put it politely).
So, if there's software that came with Echo where you can change the clock settings, you might want to set it to 96 kHz there first, and then Audition CS5.5 should just go along with 96 kHz.

  • Can I connect my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to external speakers

Can I connect my 3rd generation IPod shuffle to external speakers? When I plug it into an external speaker, it stops playing and I don't hear any music. The controls eg. Volume, play etc is on the earplug cord. Thanks

Not for more than 10% off the price of a new one. You're better off selling it to a third-party.

  • I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

No, but it will not work. The iPod does not have an amplifier in it that is powerful enough to drive the speakers in your car.
So, do you have a stereo in the car, either factory fitted or one you have had fitted after it came out of the factory? If you do, check to see if the car's stereo either has a dedicated input for an iPod or an auxilary (aux input) socket.
Some modern cars (for example, my 2006 model Mazda 3) have stereos that can be fitted with iPod connectors. I paid to have one fitted to my Mazda's factory-fitted stereo. So now, I connect my iPod to the car's stereo via a dock connector and I have limited control of the iPod from the car's steering wheel. Some cars have more sophisticted control than mine does.
Alternatively, if the car's stereo has an Aux input socket, you only need to buy a headphone-to-headphone lead and connect from the iPod's headphone socket to the Aux input.
If you don't have either of those options, another method is to use a transmitter. These small radio transmitters are connected into the headphone socket of the iPod and then transmit the audio (like radio) so that you can tune your car's radio to the same frequency as the transmitter. You control the iPod as you do when using headphones. The sound quality will porbably not be as good as the dedicated dock connector method, but it's reasonable.

  • Current advice on connecting IP camera to BT Infin...

I am trying to connect an IP camera in order to view remotely. I can view OK on the home network. I have HomeHub3, Type A.
I have tried before (unsuccessfully) to connect an IP camera to an Orange Livebox in France, but not here in the UK with BT Infinity HH3, but presume the basic rules are the same.
I have seen previous older posts on here, and on the net stating problems with remote connections using HH3, and whether a DDNS account is required or not.
Can anyone give me any current advice on how to connect an IP camera (VStarcam) to a HH3 so I can view remotely.?
    Thank you.

Agreed, there are major issues with the HH3 version A, so you will need to use a version B, or a different router.
This link should help, it actually gives an example of a different CCTV system, but the procudure for port forwarding is the same.

  • Connecting X-box360 (original) to Creative speakers through computer sound card, he

Hi everyone,I have a homebuilt PC with a soundblaster X-fi Fatality sound card with the front panel with all the optical and SPDIF inputs, etc. My creative speakers are plugged into the rear jacks directly into the sound card, and work fine on all windows applications and games. I wish to use my xbox 360 on my computer monitor with my computer speakers, however. The monitor part works fine as I just switch the input mode. However, I do not get any sound. I currently have the HD AV cable with component jacks connecting to my monitor, and an optical cable plugged into the back of the 360 on the AV cable thing and into the "optical in" jack on the front of my computer (into the front panel thing that comes with the sound card). However, I do not get any sound still. The RCA jacks are not plugged into anything (I assume that is how they should be). I tried following the tutorial on creative's website (http://93.95.7.84/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCG...rob_not_listed) but when I got to the step about going into audio console and clicking the decoder tab I could not continue. I have no decoder tab, the tabs listed are SPDIF i/o, Bit-matched, headphone detection, restore defaults, mode, speakers, EAX effects, X-fi CMSS-3D, and X-fi Crystalizer. So I am at a loss for what to do. I do have my xbox set to digital 5. in the audio settings as well, and the front panel has worked before with headphones so I know it must be connected properly. Thanks,Matt

  • Need Advice-Adobe Connect and tracking student grades

I know that Adobe Connect can be used as a LMS, I need to know how to track grades for each student. Also each student has to pay for the class, How can I limit or control who logs in to the class. I dont want the link to be passed around for any one  to use. I,ll take all the help I can get. Thanks for any help or advice.

The question is, how do I "track each individuals progress through your training, and you will be able to pull reports that show that."  When I have the reports published to Adobe Connect, all I see are aggregate results.  I can find no way to get individual results.

  • Need advice for connecting MIDI-apparat to pc

    Hello,
I have a digital piano which i want to connect to my computer. So i can use some software to record notes being played.
Which would be the most obvious way in connecting it? Just a MIDI-USB data cable (or a MIDI-Gameport. I still have an old SBLive) or do I need to buy an MIDI interface like for example a M-Audio MIDIman?
Is there anyone who could give advice in what is the easiest way? Because I dont want to spend weeks on how to get things working. I had that before with other stuff
    Thanks.

A Midi-USB cable will work, but be wary of any cheap brands as this can give problems with unofficial extensions like Yamaha's XG or Roland's GS (or like above, high latency) I have an E-MU X-midi 1x1 USB Tab myself. Works fine with my keyboard, both ways, but I can't transfer any songs into the database (not sure whether it's the cable of Yamaha's crappy software).

  • I need some advice on connections....

I have been reading everywhere and can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for.. I have a Bell Aliant Fibe Router, a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme.. Currently I have my Bell router in bridge mode and the TC hard wired to it. Using the TC as my wifi zone. My issue is that my house is rather long and the wifi signal drops off at the other end. So I bought an Airport extreme and want it to join in the mix. I want to hard wire it to maximize it's usefulness. Question is.... do I hardwire it to the Bell router or to the TC? Physically it would be easier to connect to the Bell unit but I am not really sure that it the approach that will give me the results I want... Thanks in advance for the help...

If the Bell router is in Bridge Mode, then it is the only way....since the Bell can only deliver one valid IP address in Bridge Mode.
If you connect the AirPort Extreme to the Bell, it would be a matter of chance as to which device.....the TC or AirPort Extreme would get the valid IP address. The "other" device would not be able to connect to the Internet.
