I bought a 4g Itouch 2 weeks ago. It was working great big difference between it and my first gen.which had both genesis and mame emu's on it. I thought skype might be fun but after I downloaded it the cam. wouldn't change views and the button flickered. That was only the start. The batt drained fast. I went into the setting and turned all pushes off for all the apps. Still NG, I deleted skype no pushes/fetch at all. Batt went down so fast I charged it and got the temp warning screen at which point I powered it off. Went back to Itunes and set it up as new devise with the latest firm. Its been ok since then I don't even have to shut it down in travel mode. I am worried that the lipo might be damaged after that warning screen although it seems ok. I fly e-flight so I've seen what can happen to a lipo. Think it is allright or should I bring it back and get a replacement??

You can perform non-blocking socket calls with NIO if that is what you mean by 'asynchronous', but you will have to read the SocketChannel API to find out how to do it, including how to complete a non-blocking connection.
OTOH if you really mean 'asynchronous' as opposed to 'non-blocking' you will need to wait for it to appear in Java.

Hard drive failed after update. Advise needed.

First the system hangs. Then it took a long time to boot up. Finally, after a few rounds, the question mark folder appeared on boot up.
I command r boot it. Sometimes it says disk has a hardware problem and smart status failing. Sometimes it is ok, but cannot erase last block on formatting. I tried to reinstall OS, but it couldn't find the disk for installing.
Is this really a hardware issue? I'm taking my mac to a reseller tomorrow. Should I be expecting to buy a new hard disk?
Appreciate any help or advise.

If it's in warranty have it done at the Apple Store. If you are doing it yourself:
Install Mavericks, Lion, Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

A little memory and imac selection advise needed

This new round of core 2 duo imacs are making me FINALLY comfortable in switching to the Mac. Primarally for video editing. Can't afford FCP so FCE will be my choice. I also am a Adobe CS2 user. The current machines come with 1 gig of memory. Would I be ok with that amount or would I soon regret not paying the $175 for uping it to 2 gig? Also, screen size. Using the machine mostly for photos and video, is $500 worth the 4 extra inches? I've seen these machines at a local apple store and they are beautiful to say the least. I just didn't know if the 24 was a little over the top or not.
Any advise?

Get as much memory as you can, specialy if the extra chips are added at apple factory if the extra modules replace the originals one, leaving two slots available for future expansion( in fact: 2 slots because memory module are added in pair set, there are 4 slots used in pair in intel iMac: 2 filled with factory installed modules, and 2 free).
Ask for this information when buying from apple store, may be the newer models don't have this limitation as pre-intel iMacs.
Third party memory is usually cheaper that apple's one, but you'll have to use the third and forth slot. If your needs exceed this amount in future, you'll have to replace two modules with a bigger ones, leaving two smaller modules unused in your hand.
For your screen question:
as I see on apple imac's web site:
-the 24" model offers 1920 by 1200 pixels display area (16:10 aspect ratio). That seems that your can preview HDV content at full resolution (like on Apple Cinema HD display 23" and 30 " 16:9 aspect ratio).
-the 20" model offers 1680-by-1050 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio), not enough for HDV display in full resolution, but okay for previewing scaled down HDV content.
You get wider viewing angle with the 24", but the same contast ratio for two models.
If you plan to do some HDV editing in future (FCE HD can do that), the extra cost is okay.
Pay attention to buy the current version of Final Cut express HD 3.5 to use it with intel iMac. Previous version are not universal one.

Advise needed with New Mac OS releases.

Hi,
I'm new to the Mac world, and having a lot of difficulty follow these posts to try and fix the many problems I have encountered since upgrading to SL. Is SL a typical release for Mac? It seems I should have waited for more fix releases, to be available before upgrading, but the conversion from my PC to my Macbook in July went so well and Leopard was operating flawlessly for my needs that I just went ahead and upgraded to SL.
What now, how long before Apple will fix all these problems. This is worse, at least, for me then when I upgraded from XP to Vista, which for a lot of PC users at the time was a disaster. I fell back to XP and and never returned to Vista. I eventualy bought my MacBook instead, and now I'm in a similar situation with no experience...
Because of my inexperience with the Mac system I'm afraid to try and fall back to Leopard and risk making my situation even worse. What if Time Machine fails to get back all my data
after Clean install of Leopard.
Any advise will be so much appreciated. With all the experience out there I'm trying to get a feeling of is it best to stay with SL a wait for the fixes, or chance going back to Leopard, until a stable better functioning version of SL is available. For a while there I thought all my computer problem were behind me as my Mac and leopard were working so reliably, and smoothly. I guess being an early adopter of any new OS is not a good thing unless there is some real need, which there was not in my case.

Yes, Snow Leopard is an upgrade from Leopard. 10.5 to 10.6
One thing to keep in mind. If you download and install updates as they become available, they won't necessarily include the patches or fixes for problems you are encountering. The Software Update window will have the links available for the updates so you can read the documentation before installing.

I need advise from you people on fico certification.
I have two years of experience of sap and have cleared CFA lvl1 this year.
I plan to do FICO certification.
I want to do the "associate certification of ERP financial 2005", as seen on sap education.
My questions are:-
1) Is it relevant certification for fico ("associate certification of ERP financial 2005)
2) What all are the material should I read to prepare for this exam, I have seen TFIN 50 and 51.
Is it enough?
Should the study done only from these two or should I also read cost accounting, managerial accounting...
3) Any place where I can get these two materials. I could not find it on SAP education.
4) An advice on the time and level of preparation required.

Congrats on your CFA level1
If your experience in SAP has been with an SAP Customer / Partner, and that too for 2 or more years, then you need to ask for permission from them to take your certification directly.
This will help you to avoid the training at the SAP Partners for almost one month and will save your cost too.
But if your experience is not adequate or appropriate as per SAP Certification guidelines, then you will have to compulsorily go through the training course at any SAP partners like Siemens or Genovate or BPCL (in India) and then take the certification.
I suggest you call any of these and sort your query about the course.
Now for your main questions -
1) Is it relevant certification for fico ("associate certification of ERP financial 2005)
Firstly it is not FI-CO anymore. It is either only FI or only CO. And yes, this is relevant. You will have to do this certification for making career into SAP FI
2) What all are the material should I read to prepare for this exam, I have seen TFIN 50 and 51. Is it enough?

There is nothing like TFIN51. It is TFIN50 and TFIN52. These materials are more than sufficient and you need not do anything else for your certification. Please go through these atleast 3-4 times before your examination.

You will not find this material onlne at SAP education. It is against the guidelines to provide copyrighted material links here. You will get the material at the SAP Partners when you register for the course there
4) An advice on the time and level of preparation required.
As I mentioned, the course duration is 1 month. And apart from that you should read the TFIN50 and TFIN52 books atleast 3-4 times before certification. The exam is all about how strong your SAP basics are.

Functional advise needed

Hello SDN,
I have in one data flow, using 0EC_PCA_2 extractor. On another flow, due to the need for more details at plant level, I am extracting from GLPCT via generic datasource.
Is it a advisable to use these 2 flows (1 having less detail data) to give reports which need 2 levels of details?
What I am not sure is whether the standard extractor data is apple-to-apple with data from generic GLPCT.
The only difference I know is that GLPCT data is 1 level more in detail than PCA_2 data. But a standard extractor is extracting in complex ways from multiple tables. How could I possibly know if the 2 datasets are apple-to-apple?
You advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Sat,
The part that I'm unclear is not so much the standard extractor but GLPCT totals table. Although a totals and not line items table, it can provide the plant level details. This is clear to me.
I would like to hear from experts here who have done this before, is GLPCT data compatible with standard extractor 0ec_pca_2? I guess this is more functional related question since its about the meaningfulness of the data.

New to System Manager - Advise needed on my requirements

I am very new to System Manager 2012, so I am seeking advise on how to best start my project. I read the initial part of the Getting Started guide ( http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn235548.aspx ), but System Manager is a big product so I need
to double check the direction I should take, based on my design requirements.
So here is what I am trying to achieve in two bullet points:
- I got my own monitoring system application that I can query via an API. The API is REST based (i.e. HTTP GET/POST operations) and I already wrote a Python script to query my API so I can export data and alerts from it.
- I'd like to integrate the data/alerts coming from my own monitoring application into the Microsoft System center.
Questions:
1) in the first page of the Getting Started guide, I can see I am offered the option to download several evaluation virtual hard disks (e.g. App Controller, Operation Manager, Service Manager, Orchestrator, Virtual Machine Manager). Not sure which one I
should use for what I am trying to achieve?
2) depending on the component picked in point (1), what's the best documentation link to start studying how the Microsoft application works, and how to integrate the data coming from my API?
3) is my Python script fine to run on the Microsoft Virtual Machine, in order to query my API and pass the data to the System Manager 2012?

Customizations JSP; advise needed

To implement the following I hope to get some advise.
I will first explain the case:
2 tables: ARTICLES and ORDER_LINES
ARTICLES

As you can see the columns price, vat% and vat are also included in the ORDER_LINES table.
This is done because the values can be different then the default values (in the ARTICLES table).
In the order line JSP page I'd like to display the
Article code, description, amount, price, vat% and vat.
The code, description, price, vat% and vat MUST be entered by invoking a LOV on the Articles.
The price, vat% and vat can be changed after invkoing the LOV
The problem is I don't know how to give back more than 1 value with a JHeadstart LOV!
How can I solve this problem best?

There are a few stept involved.
1 To be able to pass a comma delimited list of items you are interested in, you need to change the lovPopup.jsp to take an extra parameter, e.g. <bean:parameter id="lovDescriptorAttributeNames" name="lovDescriptorAttributes" value=""/>
2 Modify the JavaScript function jspLovPopup to take this as a (string) parameter. In this function you use this string to find the items in the calling form and put pointers to these items in a global variable.
3 Change the lovSearchResults.jsp page to take a comma delimited list of values as a parameter.
4 Modify the JavaScript function chooseLovValue to take this as a (string) parameter. In this function you copy these values to the items in the global variable with pointers.

1) Creation of payment advise (FBE1)
2) Posting through F-28 by giving payment advise no. in f-28
In payment advises amount field will be Gross amount, Payment amount and discount amount.
Customer gives gross amount, payment amount and discount in payment advise.(payment advise generates through IDOCS)
while posting incoming payment based on payment advise, if the document no. matches with customer document no., then system posts automatically discount based on payment terms.
But if the document no. does not match, system will simply credit the customer and debit the customer with payment amount.
Ex:-
Gross amount: 10000
Payment amount:9000
Discount amount: 1000
System will post below entry
DR Bank    9000
CR Customer 9000
i.e., system is ignoring the gross and disc. fields.
Here the requirement is if the document no. does not match, system should generate an entry displaying gross amount, discount amount and payment amount and post to the customer.
i.e.,
DR Bank            9000 (payment amt)
CR customer       10000 (Gross)
DR customer        1000 (Discount)
Request to suggest is there any workaround to meet the above requirement.

Basis Advise Needed - Custom Tables

I am in an urgent need of an R/3 basis advice. Client is creating variant tables via transaction CU61 and are not following the standard Z & Y customer naming conventions. For example they are creating a variant table with the name: BOT_INST_CONUSE. In case of a potential future upgrade would tables of this kind be deleted/replaced if they do not start with a Z or a Y? Since these tables are not maintained via SE11, do they have to follow the Z & Y customer naming convention standard at all?

Hi Fasi,
I don't think upgrade will delete the table. But since it is in SAP namespace, SAP is free to use this name in future and if that happens it will be replaced with SAP's version of this table. I don't see any reason why somebody wants to use SPA namespace for custom table, it doesn't make any sense at all.

Beginner advise needed on how to find link for app on ipad.

I am an absolute beginner with a recently purchased ipad 2. I have just purchased garageband from the app store but how do I open it? There is no link on my ipad anywhere but when i check settings it says that garageband is installed. Can someone please advise me on how to find link or am i missing somethng really obvious here, cheers.

Look for the Garage Band icon on one of your home screens. Tap on it in order to launch it. Swipe from one screen to the next (swipe to the left with your finger) if you do not see it on the first screen.
If you still can't find it - swipe to the right from your very first home screen and a search feature appears on the screen. Type Garage Band in the text field and search for the app.

Advise needed in regard to iCloud storage 5GB

Can anyone please advise me in regard to the iCloud storage of 5GB:
I have 2 devices using iCloud: iPad and iPhone.
iCloud has said to me it is almost full and I really am not sure why? I have deleted all music from the 2 devices, hoping this would free up a lot of space. But this did not seem to improve the space level very much.
I have on the devices: No music. A few apps. Alot of podcasts. No videos. 40 photos. Not many documents.
I have looked at the backups for the devices: iphone: 2.3GB and iPad 2.1GB. So, this explains to me what is causing the 'full' limit almost being reached.
So, I still would like to take my music with me when I travel. At the moment, in order to do this I have cancelled using iCloud on my iPad. But was this the right thing to do? Should I only have one device using iCloud?
Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you

Removing music from your devices won't remove it from iCloud. The music stays there in case you want to download it again.

Report Specification Issue - Expert Advise Needed

This is for a "Expenditure & Performance" report in Plant Maintenance Area. This report allow users to run Expenditure, Production, Performance and Efficiency reporting and display the data in a variety of views.
Some basic info before I explain the Outstanding Issue:
KF Name: Personal Cost (Actual)
Comments:TPIK3 stores a grouping DOTPER, of G/L Accounts, not simply a
                 range for each Value Category
KF Name: Services Cost
R/3 Table/Field Name: TPIK3- KSTRF, KSTRT
Comments:TPIK3 stores the G/L Account ranges for each Value Category.
KF Name: Material Cost
R/3 Table/Field Name:TPIK3- KSTRF, KSTRT
Comments:TPIK3 stores the G/L Account ranges for each Value Category.
KF Name: Rented Equipment Cost
R/3 Table/Field Name: TPIK3- KSTRF, KSTRT
Comments:TPIK3 stores the G/L Account ranges for each Value Category.
KF Name: Departmental Equipment Cost
R/3 Table/Field Name: TPIK3- KSTRF, KSTRT

The issue is, for the KF "Personal Cost"(Actual) & other Cost KF below, extracting a group of G/Ls presents a problem (not sure if we can link TPIK3 to group tables).

Can we set up one G/L Account hierarchy in R/3 and extract the hierarchy? .
We plan to recommend a G/L Acct hierarchy to resolve BW issues.
Please provide your suggestions & feedbacks to this outstanding issue.

   You gave very good details. I didn't get exactly your problem.
   Some costs will post to some specific G/L Acconts or all these costs belongs to group of G/L Accounts. Then what exactly the problem you are facing.
Please let me know clealy. i don't think Hierarchy will solve your problem. Hierarchy will be helpful for presentation. probably we need to check in the Backend itself. check how these costs posted in SAP and Compare wiht Cubes.
