Advise Using Base Station as wireless and wired connection
I have an Airport Extreme dual N base station. I want to use it as a wireless base station to connect to the Internet and use the ethernet ports on the base station to connect to my security camera's DVR, to connect a Vonage phone and to plug into my computer on my desk. I have 5 static IPs which I don't have to use.
Is this possible and if it is could someone give me some pointers with hand holding on how to do it?

So I've had this problem for a really long time. I am unable to connect to my D-Link router. My laptop used to be able to connect to this router before. I was using my laptop then all of a sudden I was disconnected from the wifi connection.
I tried to connect back to it but it said that I needed to be in range. I'm tethering off my phone atm to write this post. I'm currently right beside the router but it still gives me the same message. Sometimes it'll just say that
windows cannot connect to the hidden network. I tried using an ethernet cable to directly connect via LAN, it worked for awhile, but recently now it says that I don't have a valid IP configuration. I've looked through many forums and threads and
tried their "fixes" but I guess it still wasn't my "fix". I have gone into CMD and did the ipconfig /all command and here are my details:

Not sure if this "Tunnel adapter" should even be there. Anyways, my laptop is a MSI-CR600. I've had it for awhile now, past warranty and whatnot. Never called and brought it back to the manufacturer. D-Link router is
DIR-825. And to narrow it down even more, I can connect to my friend's router, aslo at my church, and my girlfriend's place. If there is any other info needed to help solve this problem, just let me know. I'll do what I can. Thanks!

Using a Airport Express Base Station for wireless printing. Got a new DSL router yesterday. Our old one we did not have password protected. The new one is. I can't figure out how to get the base station to connect with the new router.
thanks for the reply, I couldn't connect with the base station. The solution (thank you apple genius bar) was to do a soft rest of the unit which allowed and ethernet connectiont to be established. Took the genius bar gy about ten min (and 2 attempts) to get the base station reconfigured. Got home and it worked like a charm. Would have never known what he knew. Thank you genius bar. Using a WRT54G as a second wireless and wired router on a LAN
I have setup a WRT54G as a second wired and wireless router on my local LAN.
The WAN wired side of the WRT54G is setup completely DHCP. It gets IP 192.168.1.104 most of the time. (I have used a PC with DHCP on theis ethernet wire and it gets to the internet OK).
The LAN side of the WRT54G is setup as 192.168.20.1 and all wireless and wired devices connecting to it get ips of 192.168.20.xxx and communicate between them selfs perfectly. However, none of them can get to the internet through the WRT54G. What have I done wrong?
Thank YouI guess your WRT54G is not connected to Internet directly, but it's connected to another router that has Internet access.
If this is the case, you can configure this device as access point/hub only in order to get Internet access from the other router. Ignore the WAN connection on this WRT54G, just connect both router's LAN port with crossover cable.. After that configure the WRT54G's wireless setting. Okay, well I have just bought a AirPort Express Base Station ( 2nd Generation ) and I'm new to it, but I wanted to ask that if it join's a network you have setup at home, will it still run with the 2.4 GHz and the 5.0 GHz.
The AirPort Express will "extend" both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and provide more wireless signal coverage when it is connected to another Apple AirPort router and configured correctly.
The AirPort Express cannot provide more wireless coverage though, if you are trying to connect it to another 3rd party wireless router using wireless only.
It should be possible to set up the Express to provide more signal coverage if you connect it back to the main router using a wired Ethernet connection or using Ethernet powerline adapters. -
The best way to connect wireless and wired for a WRT160N.
It took me about 4 hours to find out how to connect wireless and wired to a network using model WRT160N. Here is what I have done. First install the CD when it says there is not connection connect your PC, Modem and router Andy any wireless are wired products, after that do what the linksys advisor tells your which is default. When it gives you the security key write it down because you will need it for your wireless and wired Products. Under security mode type your SDD name and where key 1 is type your security password with was given to you. Remember all you wireless products have to have the same SDD Like Linsys and all your wired products have to have a different name like Linsys2 but your Key 1 numbers has to stay the same. That is all you have to do. Remember that wireless and wired has to be in sequence. That should do it.

I guess that all depends on how critical your data is in relation to how much time you want to spend doing the erasure. Those higher level erasure options can take a significant amount of time to complete. Personally I don't have anything on my Mac that I think is worth more time then a simple erasure even if that does leave it some what recoverable. To me it seems some people are going overboard on this issue.

Bridging wireless and wired network interfaces

Is it possible to "bridge" the airport and ethernet network interfaces on a macbook pro using Leopard (10.5.7) ? I do not mean Internet connection sharing. That results in NAT.
I recently got a desktop in my room which doesn't have a WiFi interface. I wish to connect its wired interfaced to my mbp's wired interface and give it access to the wireless network my mbp is on. To do this I would need to bridge the wireless and wired interfaces on my mbp. All the results I find online to do this only talk about Internet Connection Sharing ..

PuneetYou can turn on IP Forwarding to achieve most of what you're after:
sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
This will have the Mac forward packets from one interface to the other without NAT.
However you still need to use separate subnets, and may need to play with routing to get everyone to talk to each other. -

I used my apple tv wirelessly and it worked fine,then I plugged an Ethernet wire into the Apple TV to move it and could not it to connect. When I unplugged Ethernet wire it will not give me a wireless option. How do I get that back?
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
1. Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
2. Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
3. Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
4. Open iTunes.
5. Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device) -
Droid Razr M Kitkat 4.4.2 Update Removes All Wireless and Network Connectivity
For 2 days a screen has been popping up on my phone urging me to download and install Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. What could go wrong, I asked myself? Oh, brother!
Before: Android Jellybean has been chugging along contentedly on my phone for nearly a year. I love my phone. It has served me very well. I get a clear and full-strength signal from anywhere in my home using my personal router, and get a signal matching in quality to the strength and distance of Wi-Fi routers when I am out and about. (I previously had an HTC Desire with US Cellular and could NOT get a clear signal of 4 bars except very rarely. Usually I got 1 or no bars. Caveat: I live out in the country.) My Verizon Droid gets 4G network 5 X 5 almost always out here. Let's just say I've been very satisfied.
After: Android Kitkat is installed. Yay! Oh, phone. Why you no work no more? It's really simple. I have no wireless connection, even though the router is working perfectly and this is proved by the fact that my wife is online in the next room with her computer. I also have no 4G connection. I have no 3G connection. I HAVE NO CONNECTION! I have a brick which I can't even play my games on because they can't connect with the game servers.
So, first, thank you, Verizon, for sending out a product that has clearly not been properly tested. A casual look at the forums and other websites will show that this problem isn't peculiar to my phone. It's all over the country.
Second, please patch this pronto! My phone is dead! Dead to me, I say! Unless I have internet connections and the ability to make and receive phone calls, I will have to consider throwing in the Verizon towel and finding a competitor who can actually roll out a successful update.

PRKI fixed it! By myself! Me! Single-handedly! OK, I fixed it by accident after trying every thing that I saw mentioned on these forums regarding the update problems. What worked? No clue. I did: 3 soft resets; 3 switching on and off wireless; 5 forgetting and re-discovering my router and re-entering all the password key info; turned it off and left it off for 2 hours; changed/toggled every state of every wireless and data connection switch 5 times.
I'm not sure which of these worked. After turning it off and turning it back on after all the above attempts, I had signals. Wireless and 4G. Who knows why. So, dear Verizon, I take back the mean things I said. I'm sure you were trying as hard as you could in a stressful situation. Neither of us was at our best. Let's just agree to let it go and move on. OK? OK? -
I am unable to update an app, Chirps! USA. I have tried both wireless and when connected to the computer. I contacted the company and they said it was an iTunes problem. ANy suggestions?

Delete the app then reinstall.
Hold the app icon down until all the apps jiggle then tap the x then tap Delete. Press the Home button once or twice to stop the jiggling.
Then go to the iTunes store and re download the app.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
That should download the most recent version including whatever update was available.
You won't be charged again. -

Wireless and Ethernet connection for U330 not working - Help
I need help with my wireless and ethernet connection for the U330 notebook. I can not connect to the internet since I received my U330 and if I try to connect to a wireless router, it knocks other users off. I called customer service already and they asked me to download the driver on the Lenovo Downloads and Drivers page. The page can not be found when you try to download the drive so I was not sure if there is another place I can download it since customer service mentioned that they will send me a disk which will take some time. Your router may be knocking you due to lots of facts. Those Ensteins suggested drivers reinstall because that's the only thing they know.
Try changing your encryption mode, try adding your laptop's WiFi MAC-adress of whitelist of Route, try disabling firewall, try increase strength of signal.
Driver is located at consumersupport.lenovo.com - do not hesitate to check.

I just have read and have not come to the complete conclusion that the Airport extreme base station is a standalone wireless router.
I would like this if it is a wireless standalone router as I want to but a pair of wireless airtunes router for music around the house keeping the Airport Extreme in my room where the airtunes routers would not be as I have the computer in my room and I have iTunes right there and would not need the airtunes routers in my computer room.

The AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) does NOT have a built-in DSL/Cable modem. You will still require a Cable modem in order to access your ISP's Internet service.
I just have read and have not come to the complete conclusion that the Airport extreme base station is a standalone wireless router.
The AEBS IS a wireless router, but it is NOT a combination wireless router & cable modem.
