Advised to use Adobe Fireworks

Hi;
I am doing the Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 "Classroom in a book".
It recommends, in a couple of places, using Adobe Fireworks. On one occasion for roughing out a new design for presentation to a client, and elsewhere for image manipulation. (It was also suggesting Photoshop for producing a full sized mockup).
There is even a tip: "For years designers have started the design process in Fireworks, where they create a fully functioning mockup with menus, links and hotspots that can then be exported to a CSS-based HTML layout and edited in Dreamweaver"
Whilst reading these excellent Forums, I'm pretty sure that I saw one that suggested Fireworks was "toxic".
Any thoughts, please? Should I be looking to get Fireworks?

As already stated, use whichever graphics app you feel most comfortable with for mock-ups and optimizing images.

Adobe Fireworks CS4 freez on create album

Hi,
I'm trying to use Adobe Fireworks CS4 with all the latest update on a Macbook Pro computer with OSX 10.5.8.
Everything works fine, except for the following.
I use commands - create slideshow.
Then I create an album and add pictures.
When I issue the command create, everything works fine.
But ....
From the moment that I choose to rotate a picture, the create process freezes when it reaches that specific picture and I can only cancel this.
Is there anyone who can tell me a solution or workaround?
Next to that, I also have an issue with multiple albums. When I use multiple albums and use the album properties to add a description and a thumbnail to a specific album, I always see that this is removed as soon as I click another album.
It would be very helpfull if anyone knows a solution to both these problems.

The same. Since each button symbol is a seperate slice you can add different URLs to them.

What I would do, instead of exporting code from Fireworks, is export images only, and add the code in Dreamweaver. If you must do iy from Fireworks, remember to put each element in a seperate slice. It would be easier to advise you if you could upload a copy of your file.

No need for hotspots unless you are creating an image map. Any coding, behaviors, etc will be exported with the HTML attached to the slices.

How do I create more than one navigation button in Adobe Fireworks CS6?

Apologies if this comes across as very stupid question. I am a complete beginner with Adobe Fireworks and I'm in the process of creating my first website and I have got to the stage where I want to create navigation buttons and the book I have recommends using Adobe Fireworks so I have downloaded. My problem I have encountered is after I have created my first two state button what is the next step to create another two state button which has the identical size and colour of the previous two state button?
Here is a brief rundown of the steps I have done to do the first two state button:
1) Edit-Insert-New Button
2) Chose the rectangle and then specified the width and height of the button and chose my stroke and fill colour
3) Centred the button and used the text tool to put the button as a 'Home' button for my website. I then went on Window and Align in order to centre the text on the button
4) I went on Select-Select All and then went on Windows-States to open the states panel. I right clicked on state 1 which is Up and clicked on copy to states. I then selected the next state radio button and clicked OK.
5) I selected State 2 and slightly modified it by changing the colour of the text.
6) I then clicked the back button to return to the main window.
After this what step should I take to create my another button which has the same size, colour and text style as I have created for the first button? I tried just repeating these steps again but when I do step 1 it creates a new fireworks document which means I have to create the buttons size, colour, text style from scratch.
Your help would be greatly appreciated guys and once again I do apologise if this comes across as a silly question.
PS Please could you let me know if the steps I have taken to create the 1st two state button are correct

Initially you need to configure via the provider's own web based control panel multiple e-mail accounts. If they don't have one, work it out with their customer support to have three distinct mail accounts. Then you can setup multiple logins by adding new accounts to mail. Since mail checks all accounts per Mac OS X user account simultaneously, it probably is best to use different usernames on the same internet provider. If you don't want mail to show all the information from all three mail accounts simultaneously, configure Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts to have multiple users on your computer, and configure each of the internet service provider accounts for each separaet user on Mac OS X.

Adobe Fireworks Crashes on Start Up

I'm currently using Adobe Fireworks CS 5.0 on a mac, when I opened it up today it continously tried to open the same file (picture below) and then crashes.
I've tried:
- Clearing my Preferences via the Library through the "Go" menu
- Reinstalling the product
- removing the file it was trying to access from my computer.
But I still have the same problem when I open the program.
What can I do to solve this problem?

Have you tried to reset preferences? And no you do not have to start Bridge to do this.,
Hold down the Ctrl key and start Bridge. You should get a reset window with 3 options. Choose all 3.

Mac Media Keys Causing Adobe Fireworks Selection Tool Issues?

This issue has been driving me nuts. I've contacted Adobe support, but havn't recieved a response.
For some reason while using Adobe Fireworks CS5 the selection (pointer) tool no longer functions properly. It did at one point.
I have to hold down the mouse and pull the trap lines over any object to get it to select. Not very practicle when you have to select multiple items. All the other tools are working in a wonky manner as well.
I have tried reinstalling the program and running disk repair on my system. No resolve
I have read a ton of forums and users are mention programs like spotify that are causing the conflict. I dont have any of the know programs installed on my mac that people have mentioned.
I have also read that it is itunes media key functionality may be causing the issue?
I know this might be an Adobe issue, just thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has a resolve.

Would it be advisable to use adobe flash v.11 on mbp for viewing or not?

I installed Flash Player from Adobe's site and often get spurious messages relating to errors. The latest one appears on a game from the Zynga stable (in Facebook) which shows up like this:
This one is on screen all the time, whereas the error one's don't. Is there any way to debug this app?
Fortunately, it doesn't seem to affect the game play, but it is a mild distraction.

Because I now have another designer working for me, I haven't been using Adobe Fireworks as much. But for a recent project, I started using it often again and it is almost unusable in the amount that it crashes.
It crashes frequently. (Probably 10-20 times per day.) I have tried all of the recommendations I've seen online that seemed applicable. I have contacted Adobe Phone Support and they sent me here, saying they don't support Adobe Fireworks over the phone. (huh?) But they did go in and reset my Fireworks preferences, which did not solve the issue. I am on a mac, osx 10.9.4, 3.4 ghz intel core i7, 12 BG ram.
I know it's a discontinued product, but I paid for this product, and love it and would prefer to still use it. If it wouldn't crash, it would be almost perfect in my opinion for web design and layout work.
I've been able to recreate the crashes when switching between "Pages" in Fireworks on semi-large files. It also crashes often when I open up more than one file with a substantial size. I will sometimes get a message saying "Could Not complete your request. An Error occurred."
Once the program crashes, I will also get a pop up that comes from the program that says:
"Adobe has found a recent workaround for this crash. Please Click Here for the Solution." (or something to that extent) and when I try to click on "Click Here" it's a dead link - it goes nowhere.
I am hoping that someone at Adobe knows where this link SHOULD go, and that there is an actual solution or workaround for the frequent crashing.

What's the business case for using adobe forms for handling print forms

We are just starting our SAP project and are looking at the possibility to use Adobe forms for generating and printing our forms, like purchase orders, invoices etc.
My Question is:
1. Is this possible / adviseable ?
2. if so - what's the business case in using Adobe forms - <i> We have been looking on the SAP Pricing for adobe interactive form, and in our point of view it's grotesque high</i>
3. What other options do we have - do we need to settle with SAP Script / Smartforms ?

As far I know SAP is going to stop support for SAPScript in coming years (I don't know exact dates). It is pretty much advisable to use Adobe Print Forms.

We can use Adobe Print Forms where ever we can able to use SApscripts/PDF print Forms.
3. What other options do we have - do we need to settle with SAP Script / Smartforms ?
It is better to settle with Adobe forms rather than using SAPscript/Smart forms. One of the main reason for this is maintainance is much easier than SAPscript/Smart forms.
But remember that Java Stack need to be installed in order to use Adobe Forms.

Newsletter creation and CSS export in Adobe Fireworks

I am a new to adobe fireworks and am currently in the trial mode of my download.
I was advised that Adobe FIreworks CS6 is the ideal program to create graphics and text to build a newsletter for my company.
Not knowing much about the program, I was able to add graphics, text and hotspots on specific images and text with an html link for customers to be able to click to sign up for the newsletter via our website.
The million dollar question I have is how in the world do I export this document and paste it into the "body" of an email to send to 5k contacts?
I do not want an attachment, I want the body fo the email to be html or css coded, but I know nothing about either of the two or how to do it.
I did find one video that walked me thru the export css process, but none of my images were shown and 90% of the text was missing.
I believe I need to understand "layers" to get this to work properly but could really use some help!
I am dangerously close to missing out on advertising to all 5k contacts before the holiday. Please help!!
BTW - the reason for doing this instead of using standard mailchimp or constant contact is because I purchased my email list and those are forbidden in both constant contact and mailchimp hence why i need to create my own opt-in newsletter to get people to opt-in via my website.

Seriously, do not use Fireworks to generate the html for your webpage. It is graphics program with *some* html capabilites, but I would never use it for a live site. It is always best to create the layout in Fireworks, slice it up as for use as individual images, or uses 'pieces' for background images and write the markup (html + css) in Dreamweaver or a HTML editor of your choice.
This tutorial may help you make the transition. Naturally it helps to have at least a basic knowledge of html and css before working with Dreamweaver, it will make using DW so much easier.

I have some paper documents and getting pdf file after scanning it.
I want them to behave like adobe forms, means after getting PDF(after scanning) file i want to update the backend system as in the same way as adobe forms do.

According to my knowledge there is no option to update the backend system by using the scanned PDF file like adobe forms. It is advisable to design the adobe form by seeing the paper document & updating the backend system.

Urgent- using adobe flash player 10 to view files from a URL (in javascript)

I am trying to cereate a video search engine that retrieves and then plays videos. I have decided to use adobe flash player to play the given files, howver with no luck. I am successful at actually hosting the player in my html code, however, when I provide the player with the following URL to retrieve the video frmo it, I am completely unsuccessful at getting the video to play in the player.

what am I doing wrong? this is extremely urgent that I get this donem running against a close deadline. That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash.
