When I installed Adobe Photoshop Element 8 show Norton Security that ADWARE.LOP was installed from the original Adobe DVD.
Norton removed the ADWARE.LOP.
Norton logged 4 try to communicate to the Internet.
Why have Adobe incluted a spyware program/function in Photoshop Element 8 ???

Why don't we compromise and call this included garbage "Nagware".
And I said, a "false positive" (I think that's the correct term), is entirely possible due to "Heuristic" algorithms in many security programs. If a routine "looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck", then security treats it like a (rogue) duck.
"To check for updates to Adobe's marketing messages", could not possibily be described as anything but adware. Ad hoc perhaps, but adware nonetheless.
Then there's this, how could a subroutine that runs ostensibly to check for updates everytime it senses an internet connection, updates that never seem to materialize mind you, be anything but spyware?
Why any large corporation feels it appropriate to decide to mind your business everytime you use their software, is well, a massive invasion of privacy
All of my ranting notwithstanding, the best possible conclusion to this issue would be to upload the file to Norton for analysis. Security companies take the business of their programs "crying wolf" very seriously, and given the widespread use of PSE, they might actually offer an update to prevent this in the future.
(Security companies DO offer frequent updates. (unlike Adobe, as you so eloquently pointed out)).

The rule I am planning to excute is :
Take a constant as 30 days and name it as Pay process days.
Pay process days (PPD) = 30
Take payroll run period , begin and end dates into two variables
Start date ( SD ) = 01.03.2010
End date (ED) = 31.03.2010
Take the person present days( Active Days ) in the month as :
Person present days = End date of payroll run date u2013 employee Joining date
PD = ED u2013 DOJ
In the case of LOP we need to pick the number of days in the payroll run month : say 31 in the case of our example month march.
Now the Payroll calculation works as follows :
1. If PD < = PPD = ( Amount * PD ) / PPD
2. If PD > PPD = ( Amount * PPD ) / PPD
In the case of LOP.
Get the LOP days into ( LOP) and get the number of days in the month into (MD)
IF MD u2013 LOP is > 0
Then in the above two cases:
1. If PD < = PPD = ( Amount * ( PD u2013 LOP ) ) / PPD
2. If PD > PPD = ( Amount * ( PPD u2013 LOP ) ) / PPD.
Need to achieve this logic to run the payroll
Hope my logic is clear. this is how I want to achieve the payroll process.
So, to achieve this I require the above said variables, because I am not that much good in writing rules.

LOP days are not calculated properly
Dear Experts,
I am new to TM, i have configured abscence type for LOP. but when i maintained the same in IT 2001 for an employee for the entire month, the absence days calculated is only for working days i.e 22 days. but i want it to calculate for the entire month i.e 31 days.Please help me as it very urgent.

I have a new Mac Mini and I found AdWare called TakeOverSearchAssetsMac and SearchProjects on it. I have been unable to remove it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this?

How to remove blinkx popup adware/malware from Firefox?
This morning I noticed that my Firefox browser was constantly being interrupted by in-window popups for a site called cdn.blinkx.com/uvp-0.2.1/applications/blank.php. It opens these pages about every 20 seconds, but since updating Firefox it appears to have slowed down. Still, I would like to find the adware responsible and remove it for security reasons. The site itself doesn't appear to do anything - just a blank black page - but it is very annoying and can make the browser almost unusable. I have strong reason to believe this is adware or malware. I have not really done any unusual downloads recently, and my antivirus software ClamXav did not spot it. If anyone could help solve this problem I would be very grateful.
You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.

Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

With TSM adware removal tool I was able to remove unknown software that was making ads pop up when using Safari. So the y don't pop up anymore. The problem now is that when I open safari It is still downloading websites and after awhile it freezes the browser. I have to constantly go to Safari Preferences to remove them and then the browser will start working again. What can I do to stop this?
1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

How can I get rid of Tencent QQ Adware?

Just wondering if any one here runs Tencent QQ on mac os x? I have to run QQ as everyone in China uses it for: work, file sharing, blogging, and communication.
The PC version is full of all sorts of horrors. But I'm finding problems with the mac version and I can't find any information about it, having googled around for a day or so.
I'm running there english for mac version which is still in Bata and has been for a year or so now.
I'm getting a lot of random pop up adds in Chinese in all my web browsers, and I don't know what to do to get rid of them!
I have just tried running VirusBarrer X6. It's the only anti virus program I have found good reviews for the mac. But that did not find anything on my computer. It also dose not notice the adds appearing even though its running in the back ground.
I have deleted all cookies and used the mac firewall to block QQ but I still have adware.
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

EbenI have installed AdBlocker which is 'donation-ware'. It does block some pop-up ads. You might have to add a filter for this particular ad.

This hasn't caused me any problems yet that matter and it doesn't block all ads/pop-up ads without adding more specific filters. I haven't tried to add my own filters yet. I have noticed that it blocks part of one section in Yahoo.

after upgrading to version 24 Firefox for windows, the Norton tool bar is incompatible with Firefox, no big deal I did not like it anyway, disabled it.
But when Norton Antivirus went and scanned my system it comes back with the message that Firefox has Adware in it and must be removed.
Firefox now will not correctly display some URLs that I use Particularly the WWW.wunderground.com ones and others are just disabled. These are ones that I use with my Weather-station hobby. I am not sending this from the machine that has Norton installed but my work machine, I can work on this later when I get home.Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

I'm currently using OSX 10.6.8, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory. I am not able to upgrade the operating system, and the computer still has 67 GB of memory on the harddrive. I don't use it for anything very intense, mostly internet browsing. I was at a hotel over the weekend and connected to their free wifi. Once back home, two days later, I started receiving pop ups in Chrome. The first was MediaDownloader, so I assume that is the culprit. The second pop up to occur was Trojanalert. I looked through some online community forums and was pointed towards downloading and running AdwareMedic. My operating system does not support this program. Next I read up on how to examine libraries and extensions to find the issue. I'm not well versed in this, but I followed the directions and did not find any malicious looking extensions or items in the libraries. Before looking for the "thing" to remove, I backed up my computer as recommended.
I have never, to my knowledge, had a virus on this computer. I have never experienced pop ups, and I very rarely download any program, especially not software included with other programs.
Could someone recommend a virus/adware/malware utility that will find and remove this issue or provide me with a detailed set of instructions on how to find the issue and then correct it? Are there free online scans or removal tools that are trusted and could help? Also, if I should be posting this somewhere else, please let me know. I have not used this community tool much at all. There are no extensions listed in my Safari, and the only two in Chrome are: Google Docs and Java for Browsing. In Firefox the only extension is Garmin Communicator 4.1.0.

How to get rid of adware/malware? It turned into a nightmare.

This is my first post here so I hope I am posting on the right place. So basically I am using a Macbook Pro with Retina Display (13 inch) and it was bought on September 2014. This is all I know about my laptop as I really don't understand from softwares or anything of that kind (I do not even know what IOS means, sorry!) and I cannot look at any of the information because it was a gift from my father who lives in another country!
Now, the problem is that I do not know whatever happened, as I do not download anything to my laptop other than university slides and lecture notes. But since yesterday, almost whenever I click on a legit website, the website is replaced by this weight loss advertisement (or malware, I do not know the word to use as I have just learnt about these terms while looking for a solution to my problem) within a few seconds. This is a nightmare, and I am really really happy at least it did not happen on this website.
Do you know what I should do? Sorry I can't provide any information as I don't know anything about technology myself.

I have somehow got green underline in text ads, pop up ads that come in from the sides of the screen and ads that pop up selling similar products all over the page wherever I go. Its getting worse and I have researched and researched to no avail. I am really hestitant to download any software to remove whatever it is that is causing this problem. I have removed and reinstalled chrome. I have cleared Chrome and Safari cookies. Checked extensions, there are none to remove. I need to find an answer on how to get rid of these ads. Help please!
You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. It must be said that this failure of oversight is inexcusable and has seriously compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You cannot rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

CD didn't work. Download software, didn't work when it came to plugging into usb port, don't even get a BACK button, nothing. Printer not recognized by laptop. Did all the solutions/uninstall/install etc. Printer is working though, prints out the exact same thing each time I press the green button on the printer, but is not connected to laptop. So it's not the printer, it works.
