AE CS 5 renders truncated (???)...

Hi Guys,
Wierd anomoly...I am rendering a 720p ProRes comp - a little over 4 minutes long. The work area is set for the full time and the Render Queue shows all weas rendered. I open the ProRes file in Quicktime and it only shows 2:08 of it is there (???). I have dumped preferences...same thing.
Anyone ever see this?
System:
8 Core Mac / OS 10.6.8 / 16 GB RAM / Production Premium 5 (AE 10.0.1.19) / QT 7.6.9
Thanks
Joey

They could be abandoning the professional market, as you pointed out earlier.  The possibility also exists that Apple made an epic, monumental, unthinkable blunder by failing to release a piece of software totally ready for professional use, with newer and far greater capabilities than those found in the current Final Cut Suite 3.
In either case, it has been the source of an unimaginable amount of vitriol and controversy on the Creative Cow's FCP X forum.  If you have the patience to sort among the growing pile of chaff on that forum, you can glean a few thoughtful kernels of truth.
A couple are written by a gent named David Lawrence, who practically invented the NLE back in Lucasfilm's EditDroid days.  Here's an example:
http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/335/11511
David addresses FCP X's complete paradigm shift in the process of editing, and asks if it's wise to do this.
But my absolute favorite thus far is a post -- more accurately, an op-ed piece, I suppose -- by someone I'm not familiar with: a gent named Glen Hurd.  He addresses FCP X's  implications for the editing industry, editing culture, and a new generation of aspiring cutters:
http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/335/11876
The implication I draw from both these people is this: Apple didn't simply shoot itself in the foot by EOL-ing FCS3 and launching FCP X in its stead, it pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at crossed legs and pulled the trigger.
Can Premiere Pro assume FCP's mantle of Industry Standard Editing Application?  How about Avid?  Can either adequately service the needs of disenfranchised FCP users?  Either would say, "yes, of course", but I would think "time will tell" is a more accurate response.

    My tree is inside jscrollpane.Ok, then I don't understand why your renderer truncates the displayed text.
    how can I set the jlabel prefered size to be in the
    exact width of the String ?AFAIK, this is the default behavior, i.e. you do not do anything.
    (I don't want to see a gap between the label and the end of the
    string when a node is selected)Uhm, I have no idea what "gap" you are talking about. I don't see any "gaps" when I select nodes in a JTree.

  • Multi threading race condition in JTable while rendering and truncating?

    Hi All,
    It seems that there is a race confition when rendering a large table which is truckated by another thread while rendering it on a JTable view.
    Let me try to explain what I think is the problem:
    When considering the folowing code from BasicTableUI
    First the size of the tbale model is determined in
    public void paint(Graphics g, JComponent c) {
    [snip]
            if (rMax == -1) {
             rMax = table.getRowCount()-1;
            }then this cMax is passed to:
    private void paintCells(Graphics g, int rMin, int rMax, int cMin, int cMax) {
         JTableHeader header = table.getTableHeader();
         TableColumn draggedColumn = (header == null) ? null : header.getDraggedColumn();
         TableColumnModel cm = table.getColumnModel();
         int columnMargin = cm.getColumnMargin();
            Rectangle cellRect;
         TableColumn aColumn;
         int columnWidth;
         if (table.getComponentOrientation().isLeftToRight()) {
             for(int row = rMin; row <= rMax; row++) {
              cellRect = table.getCellRect(row, cMin, false);
                    for(int column = cMin; column <= cMax; column++) {
                        aColumn = cm.getColumn(column);
                        columnWidth = aColumn.getWidth();
                        cellRect.width = columnWidth - columnMargin;
                        if (aColumn != draggedColumn) {
                            paintCell(g, cellRect, row, column);
                        cellRect.x += columnWidth;
         } else {The prepareRenderer works like this:
        public Component prepareRenderer(TableCellRenderer renderer, int row, int column) {
            Object value = getValueAt(row, column);
    [snip]
         return renderer.getTableCellRendererComponent(this, value,
                                                       isSelected, hasFocus,
                                                       row, column);
        }Here the above getValueAt is called for every cell to be rendered (in one thread) , while async a row can be deleted (in another thread) while the tables rendereing is still in progress. This leads to a value to be unexpectedly be null in the above return renderer.getTableCellRendererComponent method call: this method could return an empty panel to indicated that the cell is gone which is strange behaviour because the row doesn't exists anymore. The other option would be to return a null renderer so that the cell won't be rendered but that is impossible because the code doens't expect a null renderer. The third option could to be synchronize somehow the 2 threads so that any delete on the model has to wait until the rendering has finished.
    A possble solution could be to make paintCells at least protected and change to code to see if the designated row still exists, and if not don't increment the row height
    Any help/feedback is greatly appreciated!
    Note that this question is based upon Java5 and I do not know if this is also true for Java6
    Thnx
    Andr'e

    So this means that a TableModel must be manupulated (setValueAt , adding deleting and/or updating objects in this TableModel) through a thread in the EventQueue!

                public void run() {

    VJO not defined & image corrupt or truncated
    I am getting this error when the computer renders some websites. It happens with ebay & on youtube. It shows the text but no pictures or background. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Firefox 4.0.1 it also happens in the newest version of FF & in safe mode , I have installed the latest Java runtime with no change ,but interstingly if I turn on "in private browsing" FF runs OK.
    I have run Firefox in safe mode, I have uninstalled completely using the APPS own uninstaller & then cleaned up all the files left behind with a 3rd party uninstaller I have updated Firefox to the newest release & rolled back to v4.0.1,I have disabled all addons & AV & malware apps (just for a minute)I have even tried a system restore. Also the "VJO not defined" only happens with FireFox & not with IE.interestingly FireFox runs fine if I enable "in private browsing"

  • Mail 4.x IMAP problem, messages truncated - mising attachments, etc.

    I support users that have been having problems with Mac Mail 4.x. A problem we've been having is that for some users, email messages seem to be truncated intermittently. This doesn't happen only with the message body, but in the headers also. This can result in messages/attachments not being displayed correctly since parts of the headers are removed preventing the app from rendering/recognizing them fully (basically, critical parts of the headers are missing). When checking directly on the server (webmail) or via other clients (Outlook, Thunderbird), the messages/headers are fully intact.
    Rebuilding the mailbox seems to temporarily resolve the problem, however it comes back within days or even hours.
    I have found several threads that sound like they could be related, however I can't say for sure and have found no solutions.

    My feeling is that this is a mail.app problem since this affects users that are connecting to both our internal Exchange 2007 environment (SP1 rollup 9) and a hosted Gmail domain.
    Does anybody have any thoughts on what may be going on?

    I am seeing the same problem. We are currently on Exchange 2003 though we are about to migrate to 2007. I find that rebuilding my inbox usually repairs the messages, but I have't found a permanent fix. Hopefully someone else will (like Apple).

  • Huge combo boxes in JFileChooser/JList text truncated in 1.4.0

    Hi there,
    We have an application which works fine on Sun JRE 1.3.1
    Recently we started supporting Sun JRE 1.4.0
    But we have some problems with GUI in Sun JRE 1.4.0
    In the JFileChooser dialog the combo box for Folder name
    and file filter is atleast twice as big as normal in when
    using JRE 1.4.0. This seems to be happening only in some particular
    machines. And if we run the application using JRE 1.3.1, on the machine which has problems with JRE 1.4.0, everything works fine.
    Also we use a JList with a custom cell rendered in the application.
    the cell renderer returns a JLabel component with "monospaced" font set in it. In some machines (same machines which has the JFileChooser problem) the upper half of each item in the JList is truncated. This also works fine is we use JRE 1.3.1 on the same machine.
    Please help me if you have any info on these issues.
    Any pointers to related issues on this forum or bug database is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in adance

    Hehe. Give it more time. Could you explain more about what you mean?
    You have a form with the select combo box in it. The user chooses a value from the combo box. Then submits the form. You want to put the value of the option inside the sql statement right? Not the words displayed by the option, but the item you put in the value section right?
    If so, its rather easy:
    query = "INSERT INTO Table VALUE( comboType, \""+request.getParameter( "text")+"\"); The \" might not be necessary depending on how the value is stored.

  • Truncate text after first line in TextFlow

    I have a TextFlow object which is rendered in a Sprite with multiple lines.
    For a compact display I now want to display only the first line, followed by 3 dots (...).
    I didn't find a good approach so far.

    There is some support for truncation.  It's limited to label use cases and requires using the TextLine factories.  There is no support for editable text with truncation.   Example below.
    Hope that helps,

  • Custom Cell Renderer for JList

    public class TestRenderer implements ListCellRenderer {
      private JPanel jpCell = new JPanel();
      public Component getListCellRendererComponent
          (JList list, Object value, int index, boolean isSelected,
           boolean cellHasFocus) {

        return jpCell;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class TestPanel extends JFrame {
         public TestPanel() {
              JList jlst = new JList(new String[]{"Value", "Value2", "Value3"});
              jlst.setCellRenderer(new TestRenderer());
              JPanel panel = new JPanel();
              panel.add(jlst);
              add(panel);
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              TestPanel frame = new TestPanel();
              frame.setSize(300, 300);
              frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              frame.setVisible(true);
    }As you will see the renderer displays the string several times in each cell depending on which layout manager I use. However, if I replace the JPanel with a JLabel and set the String as text on the label the String is only printed once per cell. I can't see to find the reason for this.

    So getListCellRendererComponent returns a component whose paintComponent method is called with the Graphics object of the JList Yes, except that the paint(...) method is called. There is a difference. paintComponent() only paints the component. In the case of a JPanel you would get a boring gray colored component. paint() will paint the component and its children and the Border of the component as well. So you get a much more exiting component.
    Read the section from the Swng tutorial on [url http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/painting/index.html]Custom Painting for more information.
    So the state of the cell is not the state of the cell Renderer Component meaning the image rendered onto the cell only reflects the state of the Cell Renderer Component at the time the cell was rendered.Yes which is why this method should be efficient because repainting is consistently being done for all the cells. For example every time row selection changes multiple rows need to be repainted. Think of this same concept when you use a JTable which also contains multiple columns for each row.
    That is why you should not be adding/removing components in the rendering code.
    It makes sense except that if this was the case the first version of the Render that I posted should have been rendered first with one "Render" then two then three, shouldn't it?Yes, except that you can't control when or how often the rendering is done. Add the following to the renderer:
    System.out.println(index + " : " + jpCell.getComponentCount());You will see that rendering is done multiple times. The JList tries to determine its preferred width. To do this it loops through all the items in the list and invokes the renderer to get the width of the largest renderer. Well the largest width is the last renderer because 3 labels have been added to the panel. So that width becomes the preferred width of the list. Then the GUI is displayed and the list is painted. Every time the renderer is called an new label is added, but after the 3rd label there is no room to paint the label so it is truncated.
    Change your code to the following:
    //add(panel);
    add(jlst);Now change the width of the frame to see what happens.
    Given all the help you have received, I expect to see many "helpfull answers" selected as well as a "correct answer" (if you want help in the future that is).

  • IPad Drowndown Menu Truncation at 25 characters

    Hi, I have searched high and low and I am hoping to get an answer here. We have a website where you have to pick security questions to answer in order to register for various services. The problem is that we are using a dropdown menu, and the iPad's "popover" window truncates any text at 25 characters rendering our questions unreadable.
    For example, we would ask something like "What is your mother's maiden name?" and that gets cut off. Is there any way to expand the iPad's character length limitation or is there a specific menu system that we can employ to display the full question? The shortest question is 34 characters. Thanks.

    Have you tried the "two finger scroll" in one of those boxes in order to see text that is hidden by the box border? I had no idea that worked on an iPad until I read it on a post here a while back. You may be able to scroll left and right as well as up and down. You may have to indoctrinate your users as to how it works but it might be worth a look.

  • Certain character string in RSS truncates the feed

    Hi,
    The value that is written to the new record is the "r" (=return) value not the "d" (=display) value, so you should check the definition of the field on the new record to make sure that it is large enough to accept the CD_ORDEM_SERVICO value. If it is, you should then do a View Source on the page, locate the option tags and check the value attributes to make sure that they are being rendered correctly.

  • Text truncated

    Post Author: Butters
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi All,
    I've seen a couple of posts regarding text truncation on a crystal report. However, I'm new to crystal reports and I wasn't the person who created the report so am unsure of the settings, and why my text output is being truncated.
    Scenario
    We have a number of C# classes that create the necessary Report Document objects, set the file path details, output options etc and call the Export method to create the PDF document. However, the text that exists before the file is created, is truncated in the output.
    The report file has a Field on (IFieldObject) that is set to retrieve the necessary text, with "Can Grow" set to true. It renders 20 pages of rtf text but doesn't convert as necessary because the text is truncated and therefore incomplete.
    I can see that this is a problem in the C# sharp code, and suspect it is more to do with the report (rpt) file and this specific field.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    There have been patches for this that allow a registry key called Forcelargerfonts.
    By default, newer versions force the font to be smaller on pdf exports to keep truncation from happening.  If you are using an old version (say bundled vs.net 2002, 2003, cr9, etc) then you may not have this.  Check the kbase to see if there is a patch for your version of CR.

  • One renderer and two tables problem

    Hi!
    Here is my problem.
    I got one table that use a CellRenderer, and it works very fine.
    I've added one other table on my interface, and I want it to use the same renderer, because it has to work like the first table.
    The problem is that the rendering of the second table doesn't work at all.
    The cells are displayed, but the few displaying changes (color, truncation, unit ..) are not applied on it.
    When I try to watch what the renderer do, I can't see any work on this second table..
    I'm starting to think that a renderer can't be used on two differents table.
    But it can't be, no?
    the renderer is setting on the two tables like the following :
    myTable.setDefaultRenderer(myObject.class,new CellRenderer());

  • URL Services (V2) - Selective Inline Rendering

    I have the December PDK installed.
    The following tag does not appear to be supported anymore in the provider.xml:
    <disableInlineRenderingID>1</disableInlineRenderingID>
    I need this tag to do selective inline rendering with my .asp pages. Is there a work around?
    - Thanks, Kenny B

    Your post gives me hope this can be fixed.

  • Why does thunderbird truncate my user ID when trying to login?

    since november 2014 i have not been able to login using thunderbird 31.5.0 to get my email but have been using webmail called horde just fine. but now i'm tired of it and would like to fix thunderbird and get back on track.
    while checking password and user id under 'options', 'saved passwords' i noticed that thundbird is only reporting part of my user id and truncates the first part of it. for example if my user id is: [email protected] only xxxxx will be reported. this might be the reason for error: sending password did not succeed, login failed.
    any help will be appreciated. thanks.
    BTW, I been using thunderbird for years.
