AE CS3 layers + timeline disappear and app freezes - help!!!

I am on a Mac Xeon 8core running Leopard.
as of several days ago, for no apparent reason (no QT updates, no software updates of any kind), AE CS3 started acting crazy, with freezes after layers or the timeline in certain comps would not show up. This was random, as well: not the same comps would have problems each time I relaunched the app. and sometimes, there is no problem at all. In other words: Buggy.
I did a clean uninstall/reinstall from the DMG, things were better briefly, and now it's happening again.
Any help would be VERY appreciated.

Mmh, sounds more like a generic breakdown on the operating system level, possibly some issues with Quartz composer and/or the OS loosing track of your screen configuration. Have you looked into that?

A lot of my manually downloaded apps disappeared and i need help getting them back

after recently trying to jailbreak my iphone 4 using ***** a lot of my manually downloaded apps disappered like my camera and app store. My phone is not jailbroken because in the attempt to jailbreak my phone i failed and now i just wanna know how to get my apps back on my phone. I have tried everything.

Help me please! I have deleted all my photos and music and apps. I think everything and it keeps saying I have something on phones and I really want to update my iphone. I'm on 2.7 GB Available. I don't know what to do?!

If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted. The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

Icons disappearing and apps not opening

FCP, Motion, Soundtrack, Pages, Keynote, Numbers won't open but other apps will like Word, Live Type etc. Also, clicked on Pages and Keynote in dock and they disappeared but the pop up of their name still is there and click again and the icon comes back. Did disk utility and reinstalled iWork 08. Still same problems. Tried to do software update but it keeps quitting on me. Says it's downloading but eventually stops and doesn't complete task. Any ideas? Thanks.

First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Reboot & test.
If that doesn't do it try this.
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions...
Reset Launch Services...

Annoying 'connect to iTunes to use push messaging' message and app freeze

After installing iOS7 on my iPhone5, every time I open certain apps, I get the message that I have to connect to iTunes to use push messaging. If I hit the OK button, this message keeps on appearing and freezes the app. Double clicking the home button does not force quit the app, the only way to get rid of this message is to reset my iPhone. How do I get rid of this annoyance, other than deleting the app?

Did you get any help on this? From what I can see from surfing this site, it's a BUG that no one has offered a solution to. It sometimes happens after a 'reset' and going to ITunes does not offer a way to 'set up push notifications'.

Installed OS X Maverick on Macs...having problems slower system and apps freezing

I installed and downloaded OS X Maverick last week and installed it in relatively new Macbook Pro and IMac...both purchased last year...have experienced applications freezing, slower start up time several times, once was unable to start my Macbook Pro...had to reboot..and slower system response...anyone else experiencing the same?

Checked to see how much space is available ??
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
As for slow startup, delete all apps in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
Anti virus software can slow your Macs down if installed.

Facebook and apps freeze whenever I click anywhere on the page.

I open Facebook and immediatly the page stops scrolling, the mouse wont move,and every game either doesnt load or freezes.Always takes forever for the game to load if it even tries to load.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

Music disappeared and ITunes freezes when re-syncing: Help!

Yesterday all my music, photos, and video vanished from my 60 gb iPod. Naturally I tried to re-sync, but ITunes freezes every time I plug it in and immediately unfreezes when I unplug. The error message says "The iPod cannot be synced. The required folder could not be found." I went into preferences and checked "prevent devices from syncing automatically," but the iPod still tries to sync when I plug it in and it is impossible for me to adjust any settings within ITunes.
I tried the check disk utility and my computer locks up. I also tried the manual reset, which seems to work, but I can't get the Disk Mode to work properly. When I looked in my iPod utilities, it said that iPod was almost full, yet I can't find any music or playlists despite being able to navigate the menus.
Since the iPod itself seems to be working, I'd hate to have to junk this because some settings can't be adjusted. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Try putting the iPod into [Disk Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363] to stop it from continuously rebooting. Then again attempt to restore the iPod through iTunes. Otherwise it may be the signs of a failing hard drive.
I would maybe check up on taking advantage of the warranty you have on it.

Screensaver keeps coming on and apps freezing

After listening to music in iTunes for a while my screensaver will come on. When I press a key/click the mouse to get back to the desktop, I'll see the desktop for just a second (literally) and the screensaver will come up again. This will keep happening until I manage to log off or restart. This has happened several times.
Also applications are freezing quite a lot lately. I've been restarting (pushing the power button in the back of the monitor) to deal with this as well.
A couple of times when I have "restarted" like this I will hear a tone that lasts for a couple of seconds when the machine is starting back up. I read that beeps at startup can mean that you have memory problems, but I'm not sure if this qualifies as a beep.
Aside from these specific problems my computer has simply been acting extra flakey lately in general. For example, sometimes text will not display properly in Safari, but if I reload the page or highlight the text it will. Or if I try to navigate through my file system, by clicking on the HD icon on my desktop, I often can't scroll or the files will not display until click in the search box at the top left of the window. Weird...
I spent the day doing routine maintenance like running disk utility, cache out x to clear caches, and Preferential Treatment to look for corrupted preference files. But it didn't seems to help.
Am I suddenly having RAM problems? Any other ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had not booted from the DVD to run disk utility. But I had run both "repair permissions" and "verify disk." So I took your suggestion and I rebooted from the DVD and ran both again. I did not see "repair disk" -- I guessing this is the same as "verify disk"? Anyhow, it did not give me any clues (error messages) or solve the problem.
When I did that though, I saw that I could also run the "Apple Hardware Test." I ran the extended version of this test (as opposed to the "quick" test). No error messages and all tests passed. Grrr.
So I'm thinking it's safe to assume that this is not a RAM or other hardware problem. So I'm moving on to software problem possibilities....
Next question: I have an HP printer. The printer is disconnected, but do I need delete the driver also, to eliminate this as the source of the problem?

Mac Pro icons disappeared and apps crashing

This morning when I started my Mac Pro - I've noticed some icons missing.
When I start AirMail - it crashes and even Error report crashes right after it shows up.
I've checked the disk and repaird any errors, but after re-start it's still the same.
Any idea what might be causing it?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

IMac 17' screen - has lines and is freezing help!

I have a IMac 17' - My screen has lines across it and sometimes a triangle- If for some reason I'm able to get it to work past the users choice screen, it freezes within mins. Does anyone know how to fix or what the issue might be?

It's probably a bad video card or bad caps (the little soda cans) which are either swollen or leaking. If your machine isn't an iSight, take the back off and inspect the caps.

Homesharing and App sharing; Help?

Hi all, I'm trying to share iPod/iPhone/iPad apps between computers on my network using Apple's Homesharing.
Sharing music, movies, podcasts, books, etc. between said computers works just fine and dandy. When I try and transfer apps from the other computer to mine and visa versa, an error dialogue says "The file "-insert app name here-" could not be copied because this computer is not authorized."
Doesn't the fact that we can share other media mean that my computer is in fact authorized? I've tried deauthorizing all computers through the iTunes Store interface, and reauthorizing the computers on my Homesharing network, to no avail.
On another homesharing network, previous to my deauthorization of other computers, Homesharing of apps has worked for me in the past. I wonder what might have changed?

I buy plenty of apps, and so does my roommate. It just doesn't make sense for us to purchase the same apps, and HomeShare, a solution brought to us by Apple, is exactly what we need to make this work, and its not working.
And the bit about me "really, really, really" needing those apps? Completely a joke.

My iPad 2 will not download/sync books, music, movies, and apps. HELP ME!

My BRAND NEW iPad 2 that I opened yesterday will not download 4 books and a Rosetta Stone Application. I have been waiting for two hours now, and have done everything I can think of. I disconnected it from the internet, I shut it down and restarted it, I tried downloading a small, free app to see if it would jump start the download process, but nothing has worked yet. I am extremely frustrated that this $850 tablet will not do something as basic as download an eBook on it's second day of use. Does anybody have any ideas???

Brand new? Heck, I'd call Apple.
However, if you prefer, we can walk you through some standard procedures. Start with a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
