AE CS4 constant crashing...error windows bombarding me...
Hey Fellas!
Anyone know what this means (see attached)? It hits me over and over everytime I close it another one opens...then I get a hard crash or sometimes I will get a "crach invoked by Advanced 3D Renderer". It is a 1280 x 720 / 16 Bit / 59.94 / ProRes render with massive images in Particular (a photo folder used as particles) and multiple animated video screens.
I have the "Shecret Settings" activated...dumping cache after every 5 frames.
I have never seen this before...I am befuddled...and on a deadline (of course).
Peace !!
Joey
'Sup brother?!
I have been a busy monkey...working at EA Sports for the last 2 years...haven't had as much free time for the forums. I am down to one - moderating on the LAFCPUG.
That thread you mentioned...boy...lots of peeps with the same "Chinchilla" issue. Looks like since it's related to Media Core it's probably a plug-in...and I am using Particular 2.0. I just dropped the project to 8-Bit and it rendered without crashing. Wonder what that's about.
I am gonna drop Peder a note with my error screencap. I worked on the BETA testing. Maybe an update is due.
Thanks bud!!

OK I have just bought PS CS4, I have literally just installed it, in TEN minutes it has completely brought down my system no less than three times!! By which what I mean is that on seemingly random tasks I end up with the beach ball spinning and from that I am then unable to even get my dock to pop up on my Mac, the only way to remedy this has been to force shut down my Mac and re-start. This has happened on every occasion of loading CS4 so far!! I would go as far to say that CS4 is just not compatable with the current Mac OS (Snow Leopard excluded as I don't know how that runs with is due to not having it)
I have system 10.5.8 and, as I say, I'm using it with CS4.
Question is does anybody know what's causing this and more importantly, is there a way to fix it?? As it would seem my only other solution is to send the software back to Adobe if not. I'd be grateful for any help or advice. Thanks.Aren't we talking about 10.6? What has 10.5 have to do with anything? I've
said it a hundred times, Photoshop CS4 worked fine until I installed Snow
Leopard. Now CS4 crashes consistently.

Subject: CS4 CONSTANT crashing
First, 10.5.X has been out for over a year, as has CS4, Many thousands of
people have been running it just fine with your basic hardware config. I say
this just so you understand that the problem is not fundemental to the
application or OS. I think this is what westindiangirl was trying to
express. That doesn't mean you don't have a problem, just that the problem
is likely specific to your installation.
Thank you Anto01 for the additional info.
Two more things are important to know that are missing from your info: Do you
have any PS extensions/plug-ins installed? and, How much free hard drive
space do you have? I suppose the third is do you think anything about what
you're doing in PS is relevant? ie. working with huge files, running complex
filters or actions, etc?
The first (extensions) is because something might of been carried over during
the upgrade that is not compatible with CS4. The second (free space) is
because you might be running out of scratch disk space.
Since your CS4 installation is fresh it is most likely that something went
wrong with the upgrade/installation. Therefore, the first thing to try is to
remove and re-install CS4. When you remove CS4 it can also be helpful to run
the clean-up script from here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
Before you reinstall I'd recommend running Disk Util to check your disk and
the permissions (problems with either can casue files not to be updated
properly during the install).

Photoshop CS4 Extended crashes in Windows XP whenever I save
I hope someone can help me, a beginning Photoshop user.
It crashes almost always whenever I try to save. I have installed the 11.0.1 patch. GPU is turned off.
Here are the details of my system:
Toshiba Satellite A105 running Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3.
1.86 GHz 2.99 GB RAM
C drive (that is used for Photoshop) is 92.92 GB with 53.58 GB free space. I've defraged the drive.
Video display card: Mobile Intel(R) 945 GM Express Chipset Family version 6.14.10.4436
I have other applications off when I am using Photoshop.
I typically am working from NEF files approx. 30 MB
It's really frustrating - and is making it very difficult for me to learn the software.
Thanks. Thanks - I'm learning how to use this forum. Here's what I thought I had sent:
Here's a typical application error record in the event viewer log:
Faulting application photoshop.exe, version 11.0.1.0, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x0001d7e6.
Does this tell us anything?
and (for the second post):
In the event viewer log, I also found the entry below, before I installed the Photoshop update:
The application, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 01/31/2010 @ 22:44:40.921 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7756BB9B (ole32!CoWaitForMultipleHandles)
The above entry came about 20 seconds after this application error record:
Faulting application photoshop.exe, version 11.0.0.0, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x0008bb9b.
The faulting module ole32.dll seems common to all the photoshop application error messages. Is this a clue? -
Ever since I started using Mozilla Firefox on my new Windows 7 computer it has crashed -- sometimes a few times a day, sometimes every ten minutes. I will copy the error message details at the end of this, if I can. I have tried numerous technicians and no one has been able to solve it. (I did reset Firefox more than once.) Just today, right clicking on the Firefox icon and going to compatability, I discovered that "Windows XP" was in the window instead of Windows 7. With the help of a Frontier technician (my internet provider) I changed that from Windows XP to Windows 7. We rebooted the computer, hoisted up Firefox, right-clicked on the icon, and sure enough it said "Windows 7" in the compatability window. However, after a short while Firefox crashed again. Right-clicking on the Firefox icon, I saw that it had reverted to "Windows XP" in the compatability window. Questions: Would Firefox's confusion about whether it was on a Windows XP or a Windows 7 computer cause crashes? Why would Firefox's compatability window revert from Windows 7 back to Windows XP? I have a theory, but I am not an expert: A local technician came in and transferred my Firefox from my WIndows XP computer to my WIndows 7 computer. I don't know whether he installed Firefox from your website or simply transferred the program from my XP computer. However, I asked him to keep my bookmarks. I have an icon on my Windows 7 computer: "Old Firefox Files." I thought that these files (there are four of them, all containing pretty much the same thing) were just my bookmarks, but looking at them today, it looks to me as if they contain the whole Firefox program from my XP computer. My inexpert theory: Firefox is reverting from WIndows 7 to Windows XP because my transferred bookmarks are XP-based. A Frontier technician today suggested I uninstall and re-install Firefox. Sounds like a good idea to me, however I am afraid that my old bookmarks will again confuse Firefox about whether it's in an XP or Windows 7 OS. Bookmarks are essential to the way I use my computer. In fact, many technicians suggested that I use Chrome instead of Firefox, but Chrome does not have an easily accessed bookmark list, like Firefox does in its vertical bookmark window. (Also, I would rather not have anything to do with Google.) Of course, I may be completely wrong about it being my bookmarks and the files transferred from my XP that are screwing up Firefox. Basically: Constant crashes and error messages; compatability window reverts from Windows 7 to Windows XP for some reason; bookmarks and other old Firefox program files have been put on this Windows 7 computer. What do you think I should do to keep Firefox from crashing?
Here (hopefully) is the error message I get when Firefox crashes. It crashes no matter what website I am on at the moment:

Can you give me your crash reports?

Since I "upgraded" to FF 4, I have constant crashes (I tried updating my graphics drivers--it did not help) and now all of my bookmarks have disappeared. When I try to restore them, I get this error message "Unable to process the backup file". I have lost years of bookmarks...please help.
I am using Windows XP, SP 3 if that matters.I am also unable to restore any of the backups of the bookmarks, both automatic backups and two backups that I created manually. Since I was able to restore backups before, and since no changes have occurred to these backup files, the problem must be with Firefox.
Right before my bookmarks disappeared, FF crashed and I accidentally started FF 3.5. When I saw what I did, I ended the Firefox process and started FF 4. That's when all my bookmarks were gone and I discovered I couldn't retrieve any backups. I did note that an add-on was updated when I restarted FF. Maybe that's the problem. Does FF have a Safe mode? -
PS CS4 64 - crashed by Wacom in Windows 7
I just resolved a crashing problem that affects Photoshop CS4 64-bit under Windows 7. Looking at some other treads here, I went into the Event Viewer and looked at application events. The log reported the Wacom driver for my tablet as the crash initiator.
I had installed the latest Wacom driver after doing an upgrade install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 from Vista Ultimate 64. Before the driver update, PS CS4 64 ran fine, after the driver update it would crash at the splash screen. PS CS4 32 bit ran without problem.
I decided to reinstall the latest Wacom driver. On the previous install, I had ignored a warning about the setup not installing correctly from the Windows system. This time I selected the option to try again with recommended settings. The install then ran without an error message and PS 64 is running fine after the system restart for the Wacom driver.
I hope this information is helpful - should someone with a similar problem be so lucky as to find this via the poor search engine on these forums. Thanks for repoting the fix.

My iMac (2011) has been persistently throwing this error message: "SafariDAVClient quit unexpectedly." This started when I moved up to Mavericks, from Lion. Nothing crashes, and all I have to do is click "ok" to get rid of the error window. Still, annoying, as this darn Error message pops up at least every 60 seconds Help?
Here is thev error data that shows up in my Console after it happens. Of course, it might as well be GREEK TO ME!:

That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed. -
Firefox 15.0.1 Constant Crashing Windows 7 64bit
I am running Windows 7 64bit, Firefox 15.0.1 and all my addons are up to date. I have two extensions installed - AVG Do Not Track and Adblock. I have eight pluggins installed and three are normally disabled - Adobe Acrobat10.1.4.38, Google Update 1.3.21.115(Disabled), Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.70.10 10.7.2.10, Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U7 10.7.2.10, Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4761.1000(Disabled), Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4730.1010(Disabled), Picasa 3.0.0.0, Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.278. I do not want to roll back the display driver because it fixed a display issue that caused a distortion in my monitor. So what are my options? Is it even the display driver? I have included my crash reports to assist in troubleshooting the issue.
Hope I am not TOO hostile in my reply here but you have to understand I am frazzled after trying to resolve this issue for 4 days now... constant crashing on 15.0.1 and on 14.XX.X.
I thought I might find an answer here, but I am amazed to see people continue to reference articles that require you to have FF '''RUNNING''' in order to perform any troubleshooting or analysis.
Come on guys... READ the posts before you reference an article that is moot because it requires FF to work in order to follow it! if we could get it stable enough to run... the issue would e easier to localize and identify! -
I've tried everything I can think of, anyway. (Wouldn't fit in the title) Pardon my nubbishness in advance. Sorry, I've been searching for the answer for two days (on and off) for a solution, but to no avail.
So I was using CS5.1 for a while with no problems. Everything went well until one day it gave me an error on hardware acceleration. All it did was give me a scrubby zoom. I spent a few days researching it and eventually gave up on finding a solution.
So I thought I'd try out CS6, to see if it fixed anything. It doesn't. It's worse, even. It crashes randomly at various actions (like switching tools, changing layers, saving), and it crashes without fail if I use liquefy or transform a layer and then try to duplicate it (I'm just trying to make a gif, darnit!) If I'm just drawing and erasing and using undo, it doesn't crash as much. Scrubby zoom is still a problem.
My driver is up to date according to the HP website:
Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver2010-12-03 , Version:8.15.10.2189, 78.05M
It's really old, but HP isn't updating it. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Moot point.
The driver is compatible with OpenGL.
I also tried this driver, but apparently it's not compatible.
Additional info/things I've tried:
Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHZ 2.40 GHz
RAM: 4GB
System type: 64-bit
No third-party plug-ins.
60% memory available to Photoshop.
Photoshop is updated to the latest version.
Windows is updated (I spent a freggin day trying to figure that out because updates were frozen, and then spent 3 hours trying to figure out why F8 wouldn't bring up advanced boot options so I can delete old update logs so I can update windows so I can get photoshop working--TO NO AVAIL)
GPU support option is greyed out, so it's already turned off.
When it crashes, all Windows says is "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working".
Then the details afterwards note "files that help describe the problem", which include...

Error window crashes program.
I have an error window "swatch not found" that opens with the file. When I submit a report, quit or close the window, Muse crashes.
Please send us a copy of your .muse file at [email protected] and include a link to this thread. If it's too big for e-mail (>20 mb) you could use a service like Dropbox, Adobe SendNow, WeTransfer, etc. Thanks.

I upgraded to Yosemite, and now Safari will not even load. It immediately goes to the "quit unexpectedly" error window, with the following information (which means nothing to me, of course). I've seen others posting issues like this, but have yet to see a solution. Apparently I cannot just reinstall Safari, so do I need to figure out how to uninstall the upgrade and try again? Is this worth it, or should I just uninstall and go back to my prior OS until Apple can provide a clean upgrade? Anyone know the answers?

Photoshop CS4 64bit crash at launch
Afternoon everyone! I know this might be a dead horse getting beaten again, but after searching the forums I couldn't find a situation that matches mine.
I am currently running Photoshop CS4, latest update to 11.0.2. Until about 2 days ago I was running 64bit version photoshop. I came into work the next morning and the computer was completely hung. I did a hard restart, and since then I can only use Photosop CS4 32bit. Every time I try to launch 64bit Cs4, this is the windows crash error I get:
Problem signature:

I know this is not related to plugins, because I don't run plugins on my work computer. In fact, the largest files I use are usually 3000x3000, and under 4-5mb. I'm not pushing Photoshop at all. Any ideas?
I have tried doing a clean install 2x times with no luck. I'm wondering if something is stuck in registry or old files from a previous install are causing this? I have also made sure I'm updated with all my other related drivers: ATI graphics card up to date, etc.
Ideas?Generally speaking, you should see no errors (just a whole lot of informationals). Probably the best thing is to just scan through the log using the time stamps to limit the entries to those that occurred around the time of the problem.
Might be a good time to open up the computer and clean out the dust (e.g., gently with a vacuum and brush nozzle). Overheating can reduce reliability. Does the room get hot (e.g., because the A/C is turned off) at any time of the day?

Do we have an application in windows that allow me to detect the causes of an APPCRASH?
Or is this just because the application is failing?

ThanksPrior to the subscription models—and of course that includes CS4—the Photoshop license was platform specific, either Windows or Mac, but not both. Your CS4 Windows serial number ("key") will never work on the Mac version.
CS4 is out of the loop as far as requesting a platform swap for a nominal fee. It is no longer supported by Adobe in any way. A platform swap required the destruction of your PC version, so you could not use both the PC and the Mac versions.
For a time, you could have used CS4 to upgrade to CS6 for about $200, but that time window has closed by now. Now you would have to own a legitimate version of CS5 in order to be eligible to buy an upgrade to CS6.
You can of course buy the full version of Photoshop CS6 Extended for $1,000 from the Adobe store:
Creative Suite 6
Alternatively, you can subscribe to Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC2014 on a monthly basis without ever owning the software. If you stop paying monthly, the software ceases to work.
The cheapest subscription is the Photography plan, which includes both Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 a month.
These are user forums; you are not addressing Adobe here. To contact Adobe support directly:

CS4 Bridge Crashing on Startup
Finally got CS4 at work, installed yesterday and everything fine. Today when going into Bridge, I got one of those Bridge experienced a problem and needs to close, errors. I rebooted, tried again, and got into bridge but then came up with the crash again after a little bit. I got the crash error again but was able to change a directory in Bridge and "saved" it from crashing. I did my work and when I exited out of Bridge, the computer froze and crashed/rebooted. Now I can't even launch Bridge, it crashes right away. I've reinstalled twice and still have a problem.
Running XP-SP3. Photoshop and everything else, is fine... just Bridge messed up.Glad to hear it. :)
Was going to mention about possibility of contaminated file, but they can be hard to find, and I have no procedure for that. It is usually found because Windows Explorer shows only an icon. How did you detect?
