AE CS5. Phantom light/shadow appearing ??

If you look at the attached project, yo ucan see I have imported a 3D file from PS. Ther edoes not appear to be any light associated with it ( file can be seen at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9x7alzf78p37gvv/coin%203d%20eoghan%20and%20lauren.psd ).
The 3D file works as expected in AE but there is a light shadow being cast upon it that I cannot work out. It doesn't appear to be in the camera layer, the shape layer or the shape controller layer. It looks great but when the coin spins off to one side, 3/4 of it are obscured in shadow ?
If I knew where I could get at it's properties, I could adjust it but I can't find it !
I've probably done something daft but can any of the wizards on here tell me what it is ?

I had a similar issue with regard to random crashes, and slow slow brushes. I did this and it seems to have helped.
I had used CS 4 so I reinstalled it. To uninstall it I used the clean script procedure detailed here.

If you didn't run CS4 I would recommend reinstalling PS CS5 then cleaning it using this tool. Reinstall then run all maintenance on the machine.
Restart. I did this and it now runs fine.
This whole process took me a day. I did the reinstall and clean at the end of the day then I let maintenance run over night.
When I woke up the next morning I opened PS CS5 and got to work.

Shadows appear on screen at bottom

When I move away from the main screen, shadows appear across the bottom of the screen where the dock icons were. In some cases the shadows are dark and some are light, but the shadow is very annoying. I see that this can be changed on an iphone by renaming the Wallpaper Gradient files. Is there any way to correct this problem. It almost looks like screen burn.

So, are you saying:
1. the preview sometimes does not show the pictures correctly or
2. the preview does show the pictures correctly but the real print sometime not?
if 1. check the picture "Layout" settings ("Picture Position" margin, etc.) in word. And try print from the preview window when you do see the correct result.
Also, what is the OS and version, word version, and the document format (.doc, .docx)?

Why do shadows appear before the letters when using the write-on effect

I am using the write-on effect. I am casting shadows on a wall but the shadows of the letters are appearing whole prior to the letters being written. How can I get the shadows to appear in sync?

I apologize for not supplying enough information. I am using AE CS6 and I am using 3D layers with lights. I have also used a single layer for each letter in the message that is slowly appearing. The lights are creating the shadows but are rendering the shadow before the effect write-on, as the shadow letter appears first. Then the letter is drawn second. I thought it must be something in the render order, but I couldn't figure out how to make it happen correctly.
After I posted my question, I found an Adobe video tutorial on render-order. Although the video didn't address my problem, it did remind me that an effect that I could use - drop shadows. I inserted the drop shadow effect above the write-on effect on each letter and the world is good. The shadow appears at the same time as the letter. And with a whole lot less effort.
I appreciate you taking the time to think about the problem. If there is a simple solution I would still be interested in knowing what it might be.

Hi all,
I have designed a product catalog in InDesign. I retouched product in PS and dropped an "outer glow" and "drop shadow" Layer Style onto the products and saved them with a transparent background in a .PSD format. The files were then Placed into the InDesign document.
The pages print just as they appear when I print from InDesign, however, I would like to be able to email this document out to retailers, but when I Export as a PDF, the images with shadows appear as if they are stroked with a sloppy/irregular black line in place of the shadows...
Please help me resolve.
Could it be due to the compression?
Thoughts? Alternatives?

I'm sorry for the delayed reply.
Here is the catalog I designed. If you flip through it, you will see that some of the t-shirts have this black outline in place of the "outer glow effect"
I am using CS3.
My workflow was this:
Brought photo into PS > masked out background > deleted selected to Transparent background > Placed graphic in new layer over Tshirt image > Saved file as TIFF > Placed TIFF into InDesign document > Export InDesign document to PDF

How can I get my CS5 tool bar to appear?

The tool bar in my CS5 extended doesn't appear (all of a sudden) and I definitely need it! What can I do to fix this coach?

Black shadows appears on bottom of the LCD of my Thinkpad T400 laptop!

There are multiple, technically seven, black shadows appearing on the bottom my lcd like black headlights glowing outwards from the bottom. Sometimes it disappears but now it has appeared agian. I'll be thankful for any suggestion.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Display on your ThinkPad T400.
We have verified the image and the issue is related to LCD panel, but I suggest you to check with reseating the LCD cable on both the side which is connected to the LCD panel and also to the system board.

If I understand your problem correctly, then right-click on one of the develop section labels (or in the blank space below) and assure basic section is enabled, e.g.

If the CONTROL+SHIFT+EJECT does no rid the MBP of this phenomenon, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar. Bring the picture with you just in case the MBP starts to behave in front of the technicians.

CS5 and Lighting Effects filter

I'm very used to using the Lighting Effects Filter which I can't seem to use with files that have gone through Nik software plug-ins. Can anyone point to any video tutorial or other educational material which I can use to find a way to emulate the lighting effects filter? I'm using CS5 V12.1 x64. I'm not a professional so upgrading to CS6 is not feasible.

Your reply prompted me to check bit depths of my files. It appears the lighting effects filter only works (CS5 64-bit on a PC) on 8-bit files. I generally manage my files through LR3.6 and when they are brought into CS5 they are 16-bit. The older files I used the lighting effects filter on must have been brought directly into CS5 as those files seem to come in as 8-bit. So, not at all a Nik issue. It doesn't solve the problem of not having access to that filter on the files I just finished editiing since they're all 16-bit but at least now I know what to look out and plan for.

Phantom Play Button Appearing in middle of first slide

I have a Play button appearing in the middle of my first slide and cannot figure out where it is coming from. I
do not have any selections made for a control panel . Here is a capture of what I am getting. Anyone else have this problem? I really need help on this one. Never saw it before.

You may believe it to be a "Phantom", but the odds are you actually told it to be there.
Try clicking Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End.
My money is betting that you have cleared the "Auto Play" check box at the top of that screen.

Adobe Illustrator CS5 workspace panels arnt appearing at all on page?

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with my Illustrator CS5, when I open the program nothing appears (apart from when I open a new document then just the document paper appears)
no windows, no panels, nothing. I have tried clicking on windows>Application Frame on and off does nothing...
I don't know whats wrong with it I cant seem to find anything about it anywhere on the internet either hopefully someone can help me??
Its literally just a blank white page and Ive clicked on everything on the menu tab at the top to try and get panels to come up but nothing happens!
(Ive never used Illustrator before but i know when i bought it it was working. )

Tried both of those, that's why I came here. That wasn't very helpful.

Launch Indesign CS5 then Mac pinwheel appears as keeps spinning

I have read through as many previous posts as possible hoping to find someone with the same problem I am having but no luck. So here is the problem.
My Indesign CS5 launches but just after I try to open a new document or existing one, the Mac spinning pinwheel appears and I can't do anything in Indesign from then on. I have to Force quit to leave Indesign. I have a new MacBook Pro 17" laptop with Mac OSX v.10.6.3. I have run Font Doctor through all my fonts, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the complete CS5 suite 3 times already, and also trashing my prefs doc several times. I am not having the same problems with either CS5 Illlustrator or Photoshop. Can anyone help please. If it helps I can post the crash report. Thanks Dean

Thanks for the response. I checked the previous post re trashing prefs and I that is the way I had used via Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac).
I turned off Live preflight adn tried again opening a New Document but the spinning pinwheel appeared.
I am only working off my laptop hard drive not over a server network, and because I am trying to open a new doc, there is no existing links.

CS5 SDK Lights not illuminating discovery

I was having a problem with lights not having any effect on other layers and discovered that when setting the color the alpha has to be set. Just setting red, green and blue is not enough. This wasn't an issue with the CS3 or CS4 SDKs.
By the time this code was executed the red, green and blue had already been set

The documentation tells me that the Warnings i should not worry about. So this is telling me it worked ?
InDesign Server is running and accepting SOAP requests on port 12345. In the logs it showed no activity so it didn't work.
Another thing to note is that Eclipse is showing a lot of warnings. It is showing 100 of 122 warnings in the Problems tab. Just thought this info might help ?
