AE CS6 - Save Frame to Photoshop Error

When attempting to export a single frame for Photoshop via Composition -> Save Frame As... -> File and selecting .PSD as the output type, the render is added to my list using the Output Module: Photoshop.
When I execute the render I get the following error:
After Effects error: Note enough memory to initialize PSL.
(83 :: 8)
This is as a regular user (home system, no domain). However, if I run AE as Administrator, the command works.
I'm running AE CS6 under Windows 7 x64 as part of Creative Cloud install. I have deleted my preferences for AE, and moved the cache to a location where I have full permissions.
Similarly, if I try Composition -> Save Frame As... -> Photoshop Layers AE crashes hard with the following error:
Again, Run as Administrator and it works fine. I have installed the CS apps to my D: drive as C: is a small SSD. Curious if anyone else has seen this issue before.

There seems to be an issue with this stuff even in Photoshop itself (or Bridge, to be specific). There's an endlessly long thread on admin privileges being required over in the PS forum. This could be related. Also your second error seems to point to something with audio, so perhaps if you remove whatever audio you use in your project, it may work. Not sure what else to advise...

  • Save frame as photoshop layer help

    I'm in the middle of a project that I keep saving "frames as photoshop layer", and inserting the still.  It has been working great for the first 3 frame saves in the sense they are the same size as the composition (1600x838), so I just reinsert them after saving.  However on the 4th and everyother time I try to repeat this simple step, AE is saving the frames at 400x200 and of course scaling them up looses noticable quality.
    Have I done something to make it save the frames different?
    I know a lot of people save frame as "file" and render out the picture, however I tried this as well and still get 400x200.
    Thankyou in advance

    Save as PSD respects the current comp resolution setting. Make sure to view at 100% and set the comp to full res before initiating the command.

  • Photoshop Extended CS6 Crashes Instantly with no Error Report (Vid Inside)

    Hello,
    I have a single user license for Photoshop Extended CS6 and have never had problems with it until now.  Yesterday I installed the Creative Cloud package and a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro and since then I have had an issue with Photoshop CS6.  I have uninstalled all Adobe Products on the machine and reinstalled PS Extended but still have the same issue.  I have attached a video where you will see what happens.  I open the program and after a couple of seconds it closes by itself with no warning or error message after.  I did notice however that if I open a menu (in the video the help menu then System Info) the program will remain open until I close said window.  I have tried uninstalling, system restore and the cleaning tool recommended by Adobe.  I'm not sure what else to do at this point.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Which version of Photoshop do you have? The current version is 13.0.6.

  • Photoshop CS6 Save For Web UI extra border Bug

    Last week we finally got upgraded to CS6, and I'm dissapointed to see the visual defect I reported in CS5.5 still exists in Photoshop CS6 Save for Web. The details and screenshots are all the same as in my previous thread. http://forums.adobe.com/message/3843054#3843054
    Isn't there a way to fix this?  I rely on PhotoShop to be pixel perfect, not to add extra distracting lines and borders to my work.

    FYI, just to test I just did a crop of an image, then screen grabbed the result.
    To ensure the edge is visible, I changed the workspace background from the dark gray I usually use to a lighter gray...  Here's the pertinent part of the workspace...
    A closeup of the upper-right corner:
    Notably, I don't see any black line around it like you showed.  This leads me to wonder whether I interpreted your screen grab properly...

  • Photoshop CS6 Not Loading: Actions & Preferences Errors

    Photoshop CS6 has been working like a dream, and recently it has pushed some very large files.
    But, upon trying to open Photoshop this morning, I get these two messages:
    Could not load actions because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.
    Could not initialize Photoshop because the Preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted).
              - although the file was still in the AppData...Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
    Tried to 'restore' Preferences:
    Keyboard - CTRL ALT SHFT upon clicking PSD icon
    Said 'Yes' to allow changes to system
    Still received same two messages
    Removed the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp
              Restarted Photoshop, still received same two messages.
              Tried resetting, CTL ALT SHFT, again still same two messages.
    Read Adobe thread to 'rename' the Actions Palette.psp, but keep it in the folder:
    I renamed it 'renamed' and left the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp in the folder as well.
    Did not receive the 'load actions' error, but
    Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
    Tried CTRL ALT SHFT to reset,
    Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
    Left the Actions as 'renamed', but removed the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp file as well.
    Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
    Tried CTRL ALT SHFT to reset,
    Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
    Do I need to do a re-install?
    Thanks bunches,

    I am having only the single issue:
    Could not initialize Photoshop because preferences files was invalid (it has been deleted).
    What happened was that I had to do a force quit (Mac OSX 10.8.4) due to Spotlight and Parallels  Win 7 running a system slowdown.   I don't believe my new HD is corrupted. BUt there has to be a way to get PShop working again..  I've tried shift start and not loading 3rd party plugins, but nothing is working.
    UPDATE:  Download and reinstall fixed it after uninstalling and removing preferences.  However, you can't use the CC Applications Manager to do so. You have to do a direct download.

  • Photoshop CS6 saves the JPGs smaller than they appear in Photoshop...

    Photoshop CS6 saves the jpgs smaller than they appear in Photoshop...
    If I change a file in Photoshop to 72 dpi and scale it down to approximately 1-2 MB,
    it is after saving as a JPG half the size than it was showed in Photoshop (350KB).
    WHY?
    I have the operating system OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Macbook.
    Can someone help me please???
    Eva

    Jpeg is a lossy compression format. 1-2 MB is the uncompressed size.
    What is lossless and lossy compression? - Definition from WhatIs.com
    You can better see the effect in File > Save for Web. You can move the slider from 100% and see the effect on file size.

    salflyfish,
    Because Photoshop is an Adobe product you should be asking on an Adobe product forum or calling Adobe for assistance. Also your profile isn't complete but it does indicate you own a Mac Pro, this is an Intel based iMac forum. If you do have a Mac Pro please re-consider posting there. To complete your profile please click Profile Update, by doing so this helps the volunteers know basics about your system such as which version of OS X is installed, the exact model you own, the amount of installed RAM etc.... Without that information diagnosing an issue is much more difficult.

  • CS5 Photoshop - Adobe Save for Web & Devices Error

    Hi folks,
    I know similar threads exists, but this one is different. For some reason, out of the blue, I can't use 'Save for Web' anymore. When I choose 'save for web', it opens the preview dialog nicely, up until I save & get this error:
    "Adobe Save for Web & Devices Error
    Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occurred."
    Cleared all my settings, and the error remains.
    I uninstalled PS CS5, installed it again... still get this error.
    Hope someone knows how to fix it!
    Tx!
    MacBookPro3,1, running all the latest updates (OSX 10.6.4), CS5 Master Collection.
    Luckily still have CS4 Master Collection installed (and Flash CS3).
    (I've just got to get this off my chest, CS5 has so much issues that I stopped using it, I'm not getting paid for playing crashtestdummie. Please don't rush any future CS collections and try fixing bugs instead. )

    Hi Wade,
    Tx, but 99% of my time, I work on my local system (scratch disk also). Already had problems working with the company's network (files get locked or corrupted while trying to save), so we've learned the hard way not to use the network.
    I guess that's somewhat expected if you work with a Mac, in a professional Windows environment.
    Meanwhile, I'm a step closer in finding a solution myself. A colleague gave me a great tip, if you create an extra user account on the system, you start with a clean library. On my second account, PS CS5 is working just fine. So clearly, something went wrong in my library. Maybe permissions like you've said. At this point, I could try to fix it by copying files from the one user to the other. But I would like to wait for that connect session so they can see what's wrong.

  • Save Frame As via Scripting

    I want a script to automatically save the current frame in a few different formats to a particular location. The most important formats would be a photoshop file with layers from the comp, and a flat jpeg file.
    In the Composition Menu, the Save Frame As feature does everything correctly, it just requires people to manually select a location and filename, which takes time and increases likelihood of user-error (other portions of the script need to find files at particular locations with particular names)
    There's apparently a special funciton in Extendscript, saveFrameToPng(), which lets you export a frame and put it exactly where you want it, but it only does .pngs, which can't be read by another application I need to use. I looked around for similar functions that might save to JPEG but couldn't find it.
    It seems like there should be a generals solution, that doesn't require me to jump through hoops like:
                    oldDuration = app.project.items[i].duration
                    app.project.items[i].duration = 0
                    app.project.renderQueue.items.add(app.project.items[i])
                    var index = app.project.renderQueue.items.length
                    app.project.renderQueue.items[index].outputModules[app.project.renderQueue.items[index].o utputModules.length].file = File(filePath)
                    app.project.renderQueue.items[index].outputModules[app.project.renderQueue.items[index].o utputModules.length].applyTemplate('Photoshop')
                    app.project.renderQueue.render()
                    Folder(folderPath).execute()
                    app.project.items[i].duration = oldDuration
    (The above code doesn't even work quite right, I can think of ways to fix it but it seems like there should be a much more elegant solution I'd rather find)

    You are correct, it doesn't. As I mentioned, there's a few problems with that method. It also leaves the timeline set to the "0 duration" and I'm not sure how to reset that so that compositors at my company don't have to keep resizing their timeline. I assumed (hoped?) that there were ways to fix both of those issues. If there's a completely different function I should be using I was going to worry about it. If I do have to worry about I guess I'd also like some explanation of how to change individual RenderQueu item settings, because right now I just know how to set it to pre-existing templates.

  • Fixed right-click issue in Save/Open Dialogue Photoshop crash

    Not sure where to post this, so I also started this new Topic...
    I have to share this somewhere...
    I've been dealing this problem for months and I finally fixed it on my own.
    My Antivirus, AVG, which is great, except for this glitch, was the root cause of the issue.
    History:  If I right-clicked a file in my Save/Open Dialogue Photoshop (CS6 Extended) would crash.. for the last few months, actually...  If I avoided right-clicking I'm ok, but my instincts are to organize, rename, etc. while in the save/open pop-up window ... So I've often crashed Photoshop when all I do is right-click on a file in the list of files...
    Well, I figured out the cause of the glitch:
    "Permanently Shred with AVG” .. this option, added without my knowledge during an AVG update, was added around the same time this problem started (realizing this in hindsight).. THIS was conflicting with my Adobe Photoshop file explorer window in the Save/Open dialogue!!! After months of trying to figure this out, this is definitely the solution.
    Once I turned that AVG Shell Extenstion off.... I am now able to right-click files in Photoshop save/open pop-up window again without it crashing…  finally !!!!
    ...hope this helps folks even if it's just a related clue to other issues....
    Basically ,run command prompt as Administrator, then type:
    For 32-bit :  regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2014\avgse.dll”
    For 64-bit:   regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG2014\avgse.dll”
    I found this info about turning off  "Permanently Shred with AVG" option at this link: http://techdows.com/2013/09/avg-2014-how-to-remove-permanently-shred-with-avg-option-from- context-menu.html
    thanks!

  • Encore CS6 Dynamic Link to Photoshop CC

    This seems such an obvious question, but I have searched without request:
    Until two days ago I had Premiere Pro CS5, CS6 and CC installed, but I was having problems with the CC Application Manager not recognising apps as installed when they were.  So I was advised to remove the old versions (I also had to remove Photoshop CS6 and InDesign CS5.5), and reinstall the application manager - which I did, and the AAM now has all its ticks in the right places. Except of course, I now don't have Encore!  So I reinstalled PremPro CS6 (a three hour job with my rural NZ connection).
    My problem now is that if I try a Dynamic Link from Encore CS6 to Edit in Photoshop, I get this error message:
    I'm guessing this is because Encore CS6 does not know about Photoshop CC, and that I could fix it by reinstalling Photoshop CS6?  Another three hour download   So can I somehow make Encore CS6 use Photoshop CC, or am I misinterpretting the error message?
    Many thanks

    Ann, yes PSD files open in Photoshop CC.  Stan, the order of install/unistall was exactly as you said.  But when I unstalled all my pre CC apps, and reinstalled the Application Manager, it did not recognize _any_ of the CC apps as being installed, so I let it overwrite them.  The whole point of starting this process was to get the AAM in sync with the installed CC apps so I wouldn't miss updates.
    I got round my problem last night by using the Windows 7 search facility to locate the menu file, and open it in CC, but that feels so clunky compared to a simple right click.  I relax by browsing the Photoshop forum, so I will probably reinstall Photoshop CS6, if only to test answers, but it would be nice to get Encore CS6 and Photoshop CC working together.
    BTW  The Application Manager does not show Premiere Pro CS6 as being installed, whereas it did after I first installed the CC apps.
