AE cuts the end of a time remapped footage.

Probably a silly question but hey: I have a footage shot at 18fps and want to slow it down to 25 fps. I use the stretch tool (AE CS6) and when I render it it is slowed down alright but the end of the footage is cut to the same time as the original one and the end of it is lost. What should I do?

Composition --> Comp Settings and then drag out teh layer after that. Please read the AE help...

  • How do I extend the end of a video clip?

    Hi,
I have placed my video clip in my composition and at the end of it, I want to extend the last frame of that video all the way to the end. Just freeze the last frame. How do I do this?
I searched this forum using search terms like "extend" and "freeze video" but found no results.
    Thanks,
    JayGatz

By dragging the last keyframe, you are stretching the length of the entire clip (slowing it all down), which you probably don't want.
To just hold the last frame of a clip:
    1) select clip
    2) enable time remap (ctrl-alt-t)
    3) goto outpoint (o)
    4) set time remap keyframe
    5) delete end keyframe (the one to the right)
    6) drag layer endpoint to desired spot (you can also goto time where you want clip to end and hit alt ])
The reason you need to create a keyframe at the last frame is Time Remap places a keyframe after the last frame, on a blank frame. If you were to leave it like that, extend out the layer length, it'd be blank. By placing a keyframe on the last full frame, it holds that frame.
    Hope it makes sense.
PS Not sure if you were aware, but you can use whatever keyframes you want with time remap. easy ease, hold, etc.

  • Expression question: Time Remap

Is it possible to have a slave layer to follow a master layer outside of the same comp?
    I have this expression:
      thisComp.layer("Comp 1").timeRemap
..which is the settings of a time remap following those from another...  It was easily made by dragging the pickwhip from one Comp layer to another Comp layer in the same Comp.
But how could I target  this to a time remap layer comp  to a time remap layer in  a completely different comp.?
I've tried several variation in terms of  renaming the expression, with no luck..
    any ideas?
    Thanks for any help

    Sorry, never mind...
    ..Just found my own answer
Also just found out there's a forum dedicated to expressions..duh..
    Here's my solution
    comp("Comp 2").layer("Comp 1").timeRemap

  • Why can't Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Time remap Audio and Video together?

In case you didn't notice, my question is WHY.  I don't know why Premiere Pro can't do this.  From what I understand at the moment, the only way to time-remap audio in any way shape or form using Adobe software is through Adobe After Effects, which my computer has absolutely no chance of running ever.  I know how to do regular stretching of audio in both Audition and Premiere Pro, but apparently I can't time-remap audio using either of these programs.
So why can't Adobe Premiere Pro time remap audio along with the video?  What's the reason that it can't?  It's a massive disappointment and would be very impressive to see accomplished in the future.  If it's possible to time remap audio and video together in After Effects, that's great and all, except for the fact that I can't use that program.  Why can't it be done in Premiere Pro and will it ever be possible in Premiere Pro?
Also, will time remapping audio become possible in Audition someday?

That sounds like a great idea.  File a Feature Request:

  • Back to the beginning after some time

I am holding a director in the software for a multimedia
kiosk but encounter me with the problem that I am not able to solve
what I want is that when a user leaves the navigation through the
software by the end of a time without being used (for ai 1 minute)
go back to the beginning, that is the frame 1 .. So while others
used to go to the kiosk application is the beginning ...

    Hello,
You can set a timeout to handle what happens when no one
interacts with the computer for a certain period of time. In your
    startMovie script, add
    on startMovie
the timeOutLength = 60*60 --Add a length here. It is in 60ths
of a second, so 1 minute is 60*60
    end
Then, in a movie script, add
    on timeOut
    --Put your script here
    go to frame 1
    end
That should be it. I realize you don't speak English well,
but this should put you in the right direction if you don't
    understand it all.

  • What causes time remap to be unavailable

    CS4
I don't know much about time remapping but I have used it long enough ago to have forgotten what ever I might have known.
I did remember setting Layer/time/timremap, but when I select a layer and try to do that the `remap'  menu item is unavailable (greyed out).  So what might cause that to not be available.
Its a still image layer where I used the CCScaterize effect.   Does that prevent timemapping?

    from the "Time-remapping" page:
    "Still-image layers cannot be time-remapped."
What are you trying to accomplish? Time remapping doesn't make sense for a still image.
If what you're trying to accomplish is remapping time on the result of the CC Scatterize effect, then precompose the layer with the effect and use time remapping on the precomposition layer.

  • How do i get rid of black space at the end of a video presentation?

After creating a project in iMovie and burning it onto a DVD, I realized that when the movie was finished, it did not return to the Menu right away and instead it played 20 or so seconds of blackness that I can't seem to get rid of. Has anyone else had this problem? And how do i fix it? I have also checked if my any audio or narration tracks lengths were that long, and none were.
    Please help.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

In the course of your editing you may inadvertently have left a tiny scrap of audio or video way out at the end of your time line, with a large gap between it and the last clip in your movie. Your movie will play out until it reaches that scrap, leaving a large black gap at the end of the movie. Sometimes these scraps are so tiny that they are difficult to see and can be overlooked in normal view. Expand your time line view to its fullest extent and check to see if you can find such a scrap, left over from editing, and then delete it. It's worth a look, though you may not find anything. That's all I can think of, unless for some reason you have a 20 second long black clip at the end of your movie that you forgot to delete. (Don't laugh--it happened to me once.)
Good luck in resolving your issue.

  • Removing time-remapping deletes clip

I'm doing something wrong here, and I know it's probably a very simple mistake.
I implemented a time-remapping segment in a clip in CS6. Then, I attempted to remove it using the following instructions from the site:
    Remove the Time Remapping effect
You cannot toggle the Time Remapping effect on and off like other effects. Enabling and disabling Time Remapping affects the duration of the clip instance in a Timeline. In effect, Time Remapping performs an edit. However, you can use the Toggle Animation control in the Effect Controls panel.
Click the Effect Controls tab to make this panel active.
Click the triangle next to Time Remapping to open it.
Click the Toggle Animation button next to the word Speed, to set it to the off position. This action deletes any existing speed keyframes, and disables Time Remapping for the selected clip.
The problem: instead of just deleting the speed keyframes, when I clicked "okay" it deleted the entire clip from the timeline.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Kathleen

Thanks for the quick response. I just repeated my steps exactly:
Loaded sequence with single video clip in Timeline track Video  1.
Right-clicked on clip to display - Show Clip Keyframes/Time Remapping/Speed
Added two keyframes to the clip.
Lowered the yellow control line to 40% between the two keyframes
Stretched the right side of first keyframe and left side of second keyframe to create more of a transition in speed.
Reviewed the clip to see the effect. And then went to remove it.
    Highlighted the clip in Timeline
Went to Effects Control panel and clicked on the “stopwatch” next to Speed to toggle it.
Got a prompt: “This action will delete existing keyframes. Do you want to continue?”
Clicked OK and the entire clip disappeared from the sequence.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Is there a time remapping issue in After Effects CC?

I use time remapping for mouth animation among other things.  I have 15 mouths that I was using with the “toggle hold keyframe” selected and “preserve frame rate when nested” box checked.  I had been working for about 12 hours (always replaying each sentence after animating it.  Out of nowhere, I went back to check the last sentence I had just animated and it was all messed up -  replaced with random mouth shapes - not the ones I chose.  Then I went back to the beginning and it changed the first several hundred time remapping key frames to the same shape.  I’m freaking now because not only did I lose the work but how do I know that if I redo it it won’t just happen randomly again?  I’m using a mid 2010 Mac Pro with 96 GB of ram.  Thanks for any info.

Thank you very much for your responses!  Dave LaRonde, I'll be sure to give more spec info up front next time.  Mylenium and Rick - makes sense, I'll keep that in mind going forward.
Luckily, and I totally forgot this in the moment, I turned on Time Machine that morning after months of having it turned off for hard drive space reasons - and so I’m back in business!
    Thanks again Gents

  • Premiere-AE copy paste and time remaps

    Hi!
I'm trying to copy paste footage from Premiere CS 3.2 in to AE. Some clips contain the time-remapping effect and those clips are not turning out in the right way in AE. I just upgraded AE into 8.02 because I read somewhere that it should help, but that didn't seem to correct the issue for me. Any tips on the subject? Is the only way to get time-remapped footage from Premiere in to AE to export it out as lossles clips or is there some more workflow-friendly way to accomplish this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good point. As a a not-so-much Premiere user except for capturing my HDV footage at home, this never has occureed to me, but I certainly can see that this may be important for other users ;-). They'll certainly get it right one of these days...

  • Time Remapping and Video Stabilization Simultaneously

Are you kidding me.  I found complicated help and work arounds that would help me to speed up and stabilize a video clip, however, the embarrasing discovery is that a Macintosh proprietary software that comes standard with each Apple computer purchase (Imovie), has a stabilizater and time remapper that works seamlessly.  It was so simple, I can't believe that Adobe hasn't figure that out yet. Waisted 4 hours trying figure out what I accomplished in 5 with Imovie.  Like Whoa!

The CC warp stabilizer works way better than iMovie's, has many more options, and will stabilize shots that iMovie can't deal with effectively.
The proper production workflow is to stabilize, render or pre-compose and then time remap. You can do all of this without the render by simply applying warp stabilize to a layer, pre-composing the layer, then applying time remapping to the pre-comp.
The solution to something not working when you try and apply multiple effects to a single layer is almost always apply the first effect (warp stabilizer) and then pre-compose and apply the other effects. That's how you apply a mask or an effect to a ray traced 3D layer. That's how you stabilize and time remap.

  • Posterize time + time remapping makes video dissappear

I am trying to duplicate an effect I've used on an avid system, speeding up video then strobing it. I've been using the time remapping to adjust the speed then applying a posterize time effect to achieve the "strobe" look. Half the time it works great, the other half as soon as I put the posterize time effect on the clip (without even adjusting the values), the video dissappears. Changing the time rate doesn't seem to make a difference...happens on clips of varying lengths...no real consistency to when it will do this.

  • Time remapping shortcuts

currently I'm using the timeline to create time remaps - creating a keyframe then dragging the (I dont know what you call the yellow line, but THAT!) down.  I mostly swap between 400 and 50%.
Its fiddly.  Is there a way to enter the values numerically? Or is there a another quicker way?
    thanks

I'm with you... the audio doesn't slow down/speed up with the video. What to do?!

  • CS6. Need to have time remapping and warp stabilizer work together.

This should be obvious for most people. These two effects must be made to work together.
If you're shooting with a glider you're usually moving very carefully (read: slower than normal) so the footage in post would need to be sped up plus stabilized a bit.
Currently warp stabilizer and time remapping cannot be applied at the same time. But I *need* it to be applied at the same time. I need a workaround.
    Should I:
    1. shorten the clips, export them, re-import them into the project, and then apply stabilizer?
    2. apply the stabilizer, export them, re-import them into the project, and then shorten them?
How do I export individual clips as just seperate clips while Premiere? Do I have to drag them into an empty timeline one by one, apply the stabilizer/remapping, and export, remove the clip, put in the second clip, etc all one by one?
I've used Mercalli in the past and I time remap the footage and then apply Mercalli to the accelerated clip. Mercalli doesn't mind a bit.

Adobe might have written the code in a way that doesn't include the ability to deal with that extra variable. I'm assuming that when it's nested it then makes the timeline it's in just read it as a normal clip again instead of a clip with a non-supported variable included.
Although I'm totally just guessing, but if what I'm saying is correct it would mean a fix wouldn't be very much work at all. Which means in the future they could simply provide a quick and easy patch to fix this. I'd highly suggest to make a feature request.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Does Adobe read these feature requests? I often have a hard time justifying spending time to type out something when I feel like it's just being thrown into a black hole. I'm sure the team gets thousands of feature requests. It's like the lottery. Statistically you will never win. Sure, you'll never win if you don't play, but it's still a waste of time to play. I know, I'm pessimistic. Just don't have much faith in conglomerates - although Lightroom 3 is by far the most perfect program I have ever used and I would kiss the LR3 team if I could.
With Lightroom, Photoshop is hardly needed anymore unless absolutely necessary or for truly intensive chop-like edits. Premiere DESPERATELY needs a Lightroom equivalent.
I have half a mind to guess (nicely) that you video guys have absolutely no idea what you're missing out on, workflow-wise. It's life-changing. Literally.
I'm doing a video right now and I can't stop thinking about how if I had a Lightroom workflow, this video consisting of 40 clips, 40 titles, 40 transitions, audio tracks could be on the way to final export in 5 minutes. 5 MINUTES. And be 100% as good as if I had to spend an hour doing this in traditional Premiere.
