AE  is connected but no audio output??

I use my AE to send audio output from iTunes to my stereo system and it was working fine until just recently. The Airport Utility shows that my iMac sees my AE, and the green line is shining on the AE, but there is no sound coming out of the stereo (and everything seems fine with the stereo). Is there any setting on iTunes that I may have changed to cause this? Any other ideas? BTW, the wifi is working fine with my iPod Touch.

Temporarily plug a pair of headphones into the AirPort Express and restart iTunes.
If you hear music, the problem is in the audio cable between the Express and the amp, the amp is on a wrong input, etc.

You can send it to them and they will diagnose it for $9 and then give you an estimate of the cost to fix it. You can Google for other 3rd party sites.

  • How to connect Digital Optical Audio output iMac with Receiver Input

I have connected iMac with onkyo hts-3300 home theater system receiver through optical audio TosLink Cable.( http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Audio-TosLink-Cable/dp/B001ZU3G2I/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&qid=1292865309&sr=8-2 ). Unfortunately there is no sound coming out from the Home theater system. I have verified the Receiver optical input is working fine by connecting with my TV optical audio digital out put and the it's working great. The only difference between TV and iMac is, on my TV, it has optical audio digital output and I can use this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-A102-02M-Digital-connectors/dp/B0002WPREU/ref=s r11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297320792&sr=1-1) to make it work. I can also verified my optical audio TosLink Cable working because I can see the red light coming out from the cable. So the only problem could be from iMac. I doubt I need to change the additional setting to configure iMac to use external optical audio setting instead of the buit in audio setting. Hoe can I able to do it? or my iMac(IMAC 21.5"/3.06/2X2GB/500GB/9400M-ITP
MB950ZP/A) doesn't support optical digital audio out put? I have follow this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12769423&#12769423 and to my surprise which doesn't work out for me. I doubt that i need to change some setting, but when I got to setting>> sound I cannot change any setting. I was quite depressed aldy. Can someone answer my question as i m a newbie here. Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your reply.
@Király : May i know how to Open Audio Midi Setup? Is this Audio Midi Setup is in the locatated in the Setting in Mac Snow Leapord OS? or how to locate this "Audio Midi Setup " in Mac enviroment. Is it possible to open this Audio Midi Setup in windows 7 enviroment also? I Just want to get the audio from my iMac in Hts-3300 onkyo home theatre. YOur help is much appreciated
@rkaufmann87 : Thank you very much for your sharing about this http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ connection. for me what i understand is the digital audio output in airportexpress is the same as the audio out put in iMac in terms of details sepcs. So this airportexpress will only help you connect wirelessly to home theatre system, rather than waired connection. Other than that nothig much difference. So there is no point for me to spend extra bucks to attain the wireless connection. Unless the airportexpress have optical digital input, which i believe not. Correct me if I m worng, thanks

  • Jaybird JB 200 Bluetooth headset connects but no audio

    Hi,
I have T400 with Windows 7 64 bit.  I've installed the latest Bluetooth drivers.  I can pair the Jaybird JB 200 headset, the system says it's connected, but I don't get any audio.  The headset is silent and no controls work.
What am I missing to get this to work?
    Thanks

    hey mpjb,
it is really hard to say on what is missing, but could you try the following,
    1. uninstall the bluetooth stack
    2. add new hardware(bluetooth) and let the Win7 install it's generic bluetooth stack,
    see if this works.
also does the Jaybird work on a different machine ?

  • Bluetooth connects but no audio

Droid Razr Maxx HD auto-connects to car's hands free system with bluetooth without any problem, but audio won't come through speakers, only through phone.  No problem until the 4.2 update.

Thanks so much for the feedback regarding bluetooth and the KitKat update.
Please upgrade the Chrome Browser to version - 33.0.1750.166 or Higher. This will resolve the bluetooth issue. The current version of the application available in the Google Playstore is 33.0.1750.170
You can check the current version of the Chrome browser by going into Settings --> Apps --> All --> Chrome
You can also get an update for Chrome Browser by launching Google PlayStore and search for Chrome or select Menu > My Apps, if an update it available , it will be visible on Google Playstore.
Please keep us posted on the results.

  • Audio Line-In apparently working, but no audio out

Hi, A similar problem to the below post of "external mike not working", but, well, different.
I'm attempting to start recording some of my old vinyl. I've run a stereo mini-plug into the audio line-in from my stereo amplifier. I've selected the audio line-in on the sound preferences, and I see the signal input levels respond accordingly. BUT, I get no sound output either on internal, or external speakers (through the headphone port)
The signal is from the turntable (or whatever source I choose) through the amplifier Tape 2 REC line to the computer input port, so it is adequately boosted (as evidenced by the signal levels)
Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? AM I missing an additional setting somewhere?
    Thanks.
    G4 Mac OS X (10.4.10) 1.25MHz Powerbook
    G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   1.25 MHz

Here's the explanation. The audio line input is not connected to the audio output - this i as it should be.
What program are you going to use to record? Whichever program you use should have a setting for where to send the monitor output. In other words, it's the program's responsibility to take the input and send it somewhere for monitoring.
Try fiddling with Garage Band to see how this works.

  • My Fall 2009 system DVI output to our HDTV doesn't include audio.  Connecting the Macbook headphone output to the TV's RCA plugs works if TV is in AV (PC) mode, but no picture.  DVI to HDMI adapter to TV works fine for picture, but no audio.

My Fall 2009 model Macbook Pro DVI output apparently doesn't include audion.  Adapting DVI to HDMI works with new LG TV, but doesn't provide sound.  Connecting the Macbook headphone output to the TV's RCA jacks give sound with the TV in AV (PC) mode, but no video.  Is there a fix for this?  Search for a DVI to HDMI adapter that includes a plug for the headphone jack comes up empty, so far.

DVI has never included audio, sorry.
There is also no DVI->HDMI adapter including a plug for audio; such thing cannot work without quite a bit of electronic extra effort.
Instead of much bla-bla, why don't you tell the exact TV model, and we'll try to come up with a solution?
BTW, no home theater AV receiver present, correct? Sound to come from the TV, correct?

  • Is there a way to connect the Apple TV as a second display without it automatically changing my Mac's audio output?

Is there a way to connect the Apple TV as a second display without it automatically changing my Mac's audio output? I would prefer to use an audio interface for playback and the apple tv as a third display. I know I can go back to system preferences and swap my output back manually, but it is getting to be really inconvienient. Thoughts?

  • Satellite laptop: connecting video out to projector causes hum in (headset) audio output

Our church connects video output from the laptop to a projection system and audio out (via headset jack) to a sound board mono channel (line in).  Stereo to mono adapter.  We get a significant hum in the audio whenever the video cable is plugged in.  Doesn't matter whether the attached projection equipment is on or off, it's all about plugging the video cable into the laptop.  Unplug the video cable and the hum disappears.  Obviously we have tried all sorts of things to isolate the problem but it all comes back to plugging in that video cable.  We made sure there were no nearby power supplies or other equipment that might throw out interference.  Has anyone ever encountered this problem and  have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Using a Satellite PSBY1U laptop.  Video out is not HDMI but the other (VGA?) connector.  We are connecting audio out from the headset jack direct to a mixer channel.  No microphone is connected to the laptop.  We looked at every sound and video-related menu we could find and could not see any settings that would seem to be relevant to the problem (we changed lots of settings anyway and nothing helped).  Naturally we played with audio volumes, different auto cables, etc.  Bottom line is we get clean audio until we plug the video cable into the laptop, then we get a very prominent hum from the audio output.  Video cable goes straight to a projector, doesn't matter whether the projector is turned on or off.  The audio and video cables are never closer than four inches from each other.  It's weird.

  • Select HDMI audio output when headphone connectted

In Snow Leopard, I can connect my headphone to Mac Mini, and select HDMI audio output when I want sound from monitor, or select headphone.
But in Lion, I can not select HDMI when headphone is connectted, so I have to plug/unplug headphone very often, quite anoyying...
How can I disable this feature?
    Thanks.

I've just started a thread regarding this exact issue, but in Mountain Lion.  Did you ever solve it?  Or, if you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, do you still experience it?
EDIT: Almost exactly 1 year later you get a response. lol.

  • E65 + In Car Connection + BlueTooth Audio Output

    Hi All
I'm looking to buy a new in car system with Blue ooth.
The spec's say the phone must support BlueTooth Audio Output.
Does anyone know if the E65 supports this?
    Many thanks.

just got back from nissan dealer and tried my bionic in a new 2011 nissan for btooth connection.  it paired/connected with speakers and it also wanted to download my address book.  so now its either get an older phone or new car.
Its the new bluetooth stacks driver that was included with the new OS, if your stereo is a older model it does not have the supported drivers to communicate to the device, this is common with upgrades, older hadware has to be updated in order to add the support needed for the newer hardware, its like placing a 50 inch tv on a vga video card that only supports 800x600 resolutions, it may work but wont function correctly....
Your stereo should be able to use the handsfree connection from the device but all addition options wont function because of hardware limits.

  • No audio output with wireless projector connection

I use EasyMP Network Projection software to connect wirelessly to a projector. Until about two weeks ago (before Yosemite OS came out) the connection stopped streaming sound through the projectors speakers. The video works but the sound only comes out of my laptops speakers (Macbook Air) and I don't see the projectors audio output show up in the sound control panel. I know the projector is not to blame because other people can use the projector and get sound out of it. I'm also getting an error upon opening the EasyMP software that says "You need to restart your computer to enable Audio Output" but restarting the computer makes no difference.
    Steps taken to resolve issue:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the EasyMP software
    Reset the SMC
    Restarted the computer
Repaired file permissions with Disk Utility.

I have outputs 1+2 connected to a pair of Audix powered monitors. I've tested the monitors with other audio sources, and they work. Also, I'm not getting any audio from the headphone jack. This makes me think that I've either got something set incorrectly with the software, or there's something wrong with the mixer.
I also tried running Garageband with the FW-1884 and had the same problem, if that helps.

  • I have HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but no audio from my new Apple TV.  I have checked all connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru every possible Dolby/Audio combination in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

I have an HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but there is non audio from my Apple TV.  Not for movies, music, YouTube etc.   I have checked all of the connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru all possible Dolby/Audio combinations in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

    Hello again Parker -
The basic setup is Digital Cable Box, DVD Player, Denon Receiver/Amp and TV Monitor.  To that I added the Apple TV.  The Receiver only has two HDMI IN slots (one for cable and one for the DVD) and one out to the Monitor.
[I bought a switcher to toggle the DVD and the AppleTV back and forth but just disconnected the DVD to simplify when I ran in to trouble.]
    So now I have:
HDMI from the Cable Box to the Receiver
HDMI from the Apple TV to the Receiver (in the old DVD slot which always worked well)
HDMI from the Receiver to the Monitor
RCA's from the Receiver to the Subwoofer and the other speakers
In addition I have some backup connections:
S-Video, Optical Audio and L/R RCA's from the Cable Box to the Receiver
S-Video from the Receiver to the Monitor
    Wait - JUST FOUND IT!
By going thru the excercise to track all of the connections per your suggestion, I found an anomaly when I switched Receiver sockets for the HDMI links.  The video moved but the audio didn't.  Turns out the monitor was using the optical audio feed from the receiver.  So I disconnected the optical audio and the monitor automatically switched to the HDMI audio feed!   Looked promising...
So I first connected an optical audio feed from the ATV to the receiver - Audio!  Then I pulled it, but the audio didn't switch to the HDMI feed.  It stopped.  Would be OK if all I was going to use is the ATV, but I need the DVD player too and I can't use a switcher to toggle between them if I have to unplug the optical audio each time.
This is becoming a career!  Any suggestions?
    Will

When streaming a movie with the new Apple TV, and using a DSL Internet connection, all audio sound works, e.g., the music track, but the audio track with the actor's voices, does not work. What can I do?

    Hi Brian,
Thanks restoring and restarting didn't fix my problem - i have started it fresh and still it doesn't work. Basically I press ONCE on the remote, after the machine has not had any commands for 10 minutes, and the cursor skips from one end of the menu to the other - so I can't choose network or update software etc - I sometimes manage to stop it randomly in the middle of the menu if I press on a command in the middle of the cursor skipping all the menu steps...not sure what the problem is but I have basically not used my brand new apple tv since I bought it for that reason! I should call Apple support I suppose! grrrr hate wasting time with stuff like this!
    Thanks for your help though!
