AE is Garbling Some Frames During Export

I am exporting:
640x480 Composition
"best setting"
"lossless" (with audio)
.avi
I am running:
Lenovo Y470
Intel i7-2670QM Quad-core
8MB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 7690M
Most of the video renders correctly, except for 5-7 frames. They are single frames and typically appear in the last 30 seconds of the rendered file. This is what it looks like:
The strangest thing is that these frames are garbled with frames from another AE project I worked on over a month ago.
I did recently clear my AE disk cache because I wanted to try using another storage device. Other than that, I have not done anything out of the ordinary. I have had garbled frames once of twice in the past but they were only when I was trying to do too many things at once on my computer while AE was rendering a ray-traced composition. I would re-render and they would turn out fine. Plus, they were never frames from another project.
Things I have tried:
Restarting AE
Restrating my computer
Clearing the disk cache
Moving the disk cache to another folder
Moving the disk cache to a USB3.0 flash drive
I have rendered the composition at least 4 times and have had similar results.
Thanks for the help - I am bewildered. (And I can't get any work done!)

Additionally, I have since cleared the database and cache under the "Conformed Media Cache".  These are what the garbled frames looked like when exporting an .avi:
The frames are at least garbled with images that "make sense."
This is what I got when exporting as a .mov:
Just little white lines and only on two frames.
When I exported the composition as in H.264, it worked just fine. I am baffled.

  • Dropped frames during exporting

I have noticed that I am loosing frames when I export.  I have tried changing my settings to "Match Sequence Settings" and my video settings to "Match Source", but am still loosing frames, which is very apparent in my pans.  Any thoughts on how I should fix this?
I shot with a Canon 7D with my settings at 30fps.  I initially setup my sequence for 1080P 23.97fps, but have changed it to match the RAW video settings.

Just how did you change the sequence settings? Did you modify the existing sequence? If so, that might create some weirdness.
What I would try is (in the same project) create a New Sequence with the 1080p 29.97 settings, then Select All/Copy the edits of the original sequence and Paste them into the new sequence.
I recommend against using the "Match Source" business in AME, control the parameters yourself so you know what you will be getting on the export.
Also, what is intended destination for the export? Let's make sure you're choosing the best export options. The setting you chose is neither for web nor Blu-ray - what did you want to do with that file?
    Thanks

  • Pr 2014 picking up an extra frame during export

I need to export every clip in a sequence as it's own file. I select an In/Out for the clip with an X and ask for an export on that portion. Some of them will get the last frame of the preceding clip tagged on to the front of the export. I thought it was AME doing this but it's a Pr problem.
I have footage shot at 59.94 which gets exported to 29.97. IF the clip marked In/Out for export starts on an odd frame, it gets the extra frame from the preceding clip. If it starts on an even frame, no problem.

Aside from ProRes being designed for editing, the short answer is that ProRes is a much less compressed, intra-frame codec and mp4 is a highly compressed codec which I believe is long GOP. You can Wiki the difference, but mp4 is designed for deliverables such as web uploads. The file sizes are small due to the compression.
ProRes is compressed, but not nearly as much, and the intra-frame nature of the codec makes for easy editing.
The real issue is that neither FCP nor Motion really like non-editing codecs like mp4, h.264, m2v. You may be able to get it to work, but more often than not, you'll just be setting yourself up for frustration.
While there will be slight quality loss from converting your video, it's not as drastic as analog generational loss. Chances are very good that you can go from mp4 to prores, back to mp4, and not be able to see any quality loss by eye.
Even in the digital world, it's best to start off with the highest quality master you can get your hands on, so that when you're working, you suffer the least amount of quality loss. But the state of compressors these days is so good as to allow us to work with lower res files and still finish with a quality that is extremely close, if not indistinguishable from the source.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to edit videos frame-by-frame and export in H264?

I wish to edit some videos and then export them in H264 so I can use them on a website.
I have tried to edit with iMovie 08 but can only edit second-by-second. I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond. And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
I have looked at iMovie 11 which has a Precision Editor which would work to edit as I want but for that I would have to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard which I don't want. It would export H264.
I also have QuickTime Player 7 Pro but that too seems to edit only by the second not by the frame; it does however seem to produce H264
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
    Thanks for any ideas

I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond.
Am a bit confused by what you say. iMovie and QT 7 Pro are both "frame" level editors. However, some forms of editing are, by their very nature, applied over a range of frames which may be a part of your problem. In addition, since "normal" movies have frames which are spaced apart in the 16 to 42 ms range, your requirement to be able to edit to the nearest millisecond would seem unreasonable and would probably be unsupported for playback purposes without skipping 90+ percent of the frames on most platforms.
And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
All of the "Share" and/or "Export" options (except Final Cut XML...) either default to H.264 or allow export to H.264 (or X264 if installed) video compression.
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
Difficult to say since you have not given any indication as to what you mean by "editing" here. You could, for instance, edit normal movie clips in a normal manner and then use an application like the JES Deinterlacer to change the playback time reference to achieve an effective 1 millisecond/frame playback rate you seem to want to target even though your platform cannot play every frame during playback.

  • Multicam Editing Problem during Export Pr CC

    Hey guys, first post.
i have been working on a pretty long multicam project (About 1h45m) in Premiere Pro CC
I was all done, and during export in Media Encoder i noticed that after about 45m of rendering, the preview window was still showing the beginning of the video. Upon further inspection, i noticed that the video appeared to be Looping. Sencing that something was wrong, i cancelled my render and reopened my project.
when the project reopened i could see that after a couple of edits, there were little white triangles and the top of the clips. I need to stress that before i started rendering, these triangles where not there.
And yes, when i played through my sequence, at every edit (camera change) the multicam clip would play from the beginning again. i have tried to remove everything after where this problem occurs and then drag the footage out. It does allow me to do edits again and it works fine, but i dont really want to spend hours doing it again, not understanding what the problem is and run the risk of it messing up again.
I am so very confused as to what is going on so any help at all would be awesome. Its very frustrating to work on something for so long and it fail during export.
I will attach an image showing a glimpse of what my problem is. (Please excuse the camera work)
    Thanks again

The triangles indicate hard media boundaries -- there are no more frames available from the source clip beyond that frame.  If you don't have a triangle on a clip at an edit point, then the source media has frames available beyond the in or out point of that clip instance on the timeline.
There are a few things that might cause what you're seeing, so I recommend you check your multicam source sequence to make sure that it's referencing the correct media, and that all the media in your project points to the correct files on disk.  Double- and triple-check that all the clip instances in the timeline point to the correct sequence or media.  If the problem is related to clips on the timeline not pointing to the right thing, you could save yourself some work by trying to fix that instead of re-creating your edits.  You should also see if you have any Auto-Saved projects that don't have the triangles at the edit points and that play the edited sequence correctly -- you could save yourself even more work.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • Missing Frames after exporting a video with Premiere Pro cc

Hi guys, i was working on adobe premiere pro cc (342) at work, is the first time i use cc,
by the way, 40 minutes mp4 video(h264/aac,720p), a video of 100 clips,50 images(title image), fade in/out (each clip), and other stuff( all the clips are mp4).
i go for exporting in h.264/aac, maximum quality rendeing, and after a perfect exporting(premiere pro cs6 takes 7 hours, premiere pro cc takes only 25-30 minutes, shocking) i see that the exported video is fantastic, but some video frames are missing(the image/title stille remains there), and sometimes even the image/title disappear for some frames, sometimes il like a intermitted flashing.
i use mpe with my HD7970, is the first time i use it, and during the exporting my AMD FX8350 runs over the 90% of use, it's ok for me, but i want to use ppcc and exporting without problems.
    can you help me?
    sry for my bad english.

I've never seen an export come out with frames missing.  Try turning of hardware acceleration.

  • Still Frame Quicktime Export with Interlace. what can I do?

    hi.
do you know how to avoid the interlacing happening when making a still frame with quicktime conversion in fcp? I need some stills for promotional purposes but the interlacing is a problem obviously.
    thanks for you help.
    best rob

2 ways- make a freeze frame and export a still of that or de-interlace in photoshop.
The problem is you are throwing away half of the vertical resolution. If you're going to be printing these, they'll look like heck. I understand there's a niftyplug in called genuine fractals for photoshop that does a decent job of up-rezzing.

  • How to dereference objects during export flow

    Hello!
I would like to export information from a referenced object during export flow but the referenced object is not part of the connector space object of the affected management agent. This is my demo configuration:
    testEmployeeData:
    - employeeId (anchor)
    - personId (reference to testPerson object)
    - telephoneNumber
    - uid
    testPerson:
    - displayName
    - givenName
    - sn
    - uid (anchor)
    - employeeData (multi-value reference to testEmployeeData recors; can be null)
I have an SQL agent ("HR") that imports person and employeeData objects into the metaverse. The references seem to work as I can see them in the Sync Service Manager and they point to the right objects too. Now I would like to access some of the
referenced objects' data during export attribute flow. I have configured an export-only "Persons" agent that should export the personal data into an attribute-value file. This is what I would like the export flow to look like:
    displayName <- testPerson.displayName
    employeeId (multi-value) <- testEmployeeData.employeeId (*)
    firstName <- testPerson.firstName
    lastName <- testPerson.sn
    uid <- testPerson.uid
The problem is now the advanced attribute flow marked with (*). The testPerson.employeeData field contains a multi-valued reference to all matching employeeData records which contain the employeeId. The output file should contain all matching employeeIds
instead of the reference values (GUIDs) but I can't get this to work. When I try to configure an advanced export flow rule flowing testPerson.employeeData to person.employeeId I just receive an error message stating that metaverse reference attributes cannot
    be defined as source attributes.
Do I have to create an appropriate connector space object for this to work? Or is there some other way to dereference objects in order to get certain attributes? By the way, the person connector space object in the "Persons" agent is created by
provisioning code based on testPerson metaverse objects.
    Regards,

    Philipp,
What you are trying to do cannot be accomplished the way you are trying to do.
    Here are your options:
Use classic provisioning using rules extensions or
Use a workflow to deference attributes in FIM Service and flow flattened data into the target connector space.
My recommendation is to use the second option to accomplish what you are trying to do as I prefer to stay away from classic code for maintenance and support reasons.
    Good Luck.

  • Detect some error during PININST_BBV HP Envy 4-1130ew

    Welcome.
My problem is with the recovery kit with usb.
Error Detect some error during PININST_BBV
I did it in the bios as reported on
     http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Recovery/quot-Detect-some-error-during-PININST-BBV-quot/td-p/2...
    So F9 and enter.
    And still nothing.
The computer has been added frames with 6 gb ram 16gb.
    The computer is not guaranteed.
Is it possible that by adding ram recovery does not work?

    Thanks for the reply.
    Unfortunately, it did not help.
There is still this error message.
Date in the bios I changed after every reboot.
    I set 01.01.2012.
at włanczaniu bios change date on 07.03.2012 (from what I remember)
I tried to upload a clean windows 8.1
    the pendrive.
    The installation went fine.
The product key fits into the bios.
    Compuer works.
Only I still have the impression that it is you should not take place in this way.
If you have the original system compuer windows 8.
I bought extra recovery kit by serial number of the computer.
That's why it does not work.
I spent money (again) on the original system.
And I am forced to upload another and combining to make it work.
I do not understand this policy.
The problem I think is not resolved.
Please send me any other suggestions.

  • 100% CPU Usage in CS5.5 Premiere Pro during export/encoding

I am wondering why my CPU usage is so high during exporting of my videos.  My counter shoots up to 100% as soon as I start and hovers at 95% throughout the whole process.  This seems dangerous to me so I wanted to bring it up here as I haven't found anyone with this same issue on this website or google.  Here are my system specs:
    i5-2400 CPU @3.10GHz
    6 GB of Ram
    64 bit windows 7
Geforce 660 ti graphics card (2gb)
They aren't top of the line but I feel like it should be capable of encoding.  I've cleaned my fans and tried using avi and h.264 formats which both led to the same issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm new to premiere pro so I'm sure I left some useful information out above.

    "...the same results"
This means high CPU usage, right?
    Correct
Are your exported media files ok?
I've only completed one because I was freaked out but yes they are fine.
I guess the thing I'm worried about is my temps going up really high because of the 100% usage.  I thought that they were both entertwined as in high usage = high temps.  I'll look for a temperature program to run while encoding and I'll monitor how high the temps get.  You've given me hope here as I may have been making mountains out of mole hills.  If the temperatures are high would you recommend more fans in my desktop?

  • CS5.0.3 Temp files on C during export even with scratch as E

I have a small project that uses alot of Photoshop files as graphics templates. I thought that because I set my scratch disks to "E" that whenever I would export, it would use "E" as my temp location for any temp files generated/needed during exporting. But for some reason, my exports have been crashing because I'm running out of room on my C drive during the export. I discovered that during exports, there are several Photoshop TEMP files being created on my C drive - each like 3 GB, eventually filling up my C drive. (I confirmed that I set the export render location to E) After the render/export, these Photoshop TEMP files disappear on C. Is this expected behavior? Is there something obvious I can do to make sure all files go to a separate drive? Thanks!

Adobe like many other applications use the Windows Variable Temp directory for cache files. As an example, if you export out of Premiere and select the queue to media encoder, it will show the C drive instead of the drive where the media is actually located with the Project file. That is because the source that media encoder is seeing is that Windows Variable Temp directory. You can change that by creating a Folder on the E drive called Temp. Then right click on Computer and go to properties. Select Advanced Settings on the Left and then Environment Variables on the bottom of that panel. You will see 2 Temp files and locations listed at the top of the Environment Variables Panel. Select edit and then type or copy/paste in the location of the temp directory created on another drive. Example - E:\Temp
Restart Windows and then the Variable cache should be moving to that directory. Keep in mind that Windows uses those for allot of things. So if that drive is removed or fails you will take a very long time to boot and it will boot with errors.

  • After using modify/contents some frames go out of stage dimension

    Hello,
I have a question to all you animators out there.
I work in after effects and sometimes do some simple illustrations/animations in flash - where I usually switch the bg colour to gray
as not to see the stage rectangular as it's distracting to me. Then when I have my drawings and a few different frames done I go to
modify/ choose bg colour to white and check contents to frame all the content inside the document - then I want to export it to swf
so I can use it in after effects.
At this point all seems fine, all the frames are in place, however I noticed that frequently when I reopen my flash documet after having done this some frames are outside
the white stage box (usually later frames, the 1st is in place).
How do you deal with this?

    Hi all,
Sorry for the slow response - as I'm sure you can understand, running lots of exports takes a few days and so it's taken me a while to test your suggestions properly.
The render completes using the media encoder without crashing (MPEG2 Blu-ray and H.264 Blue Ray both worked), however the picture quality has really blurred:
    Original:
    MPEG2 Blu-Ray
I also ran it in H.264 Blur-ray and this also appeared blurry. Apologies for lack of a screenshot, I deleted the export to conserve disk space.
This is very similar to the problems I had under File => Export => Movie, which went away after I tweeked the export settings to match as closely as possible the footage (however Premiere then crashed when I tried to export the entire movie rather than just a clip).
Working settings under File => Export which crashed Premiere but prevented the blurriness:
    Export
    Video and audio
    Entire Sequence
    Filetype
    QuickTime
    Video Settings
    Compressor: H.264
    Frame size: 1280h 720v (1.000)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
    Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
    Audio Settings
    Compressor: Uncompressed
    Sample rate: 48000 samples/second
    Channels: Stereo
    Sample type: 16-bit
    Settings under Adobe Media Encoder
Any thoughts what I'm doing wrong? This is starting to get really frustrating and I'm genuinely wondering if Premiere is suitable for what I'm trying to do. I've another project a month late in getting started because I want to get Premiere to export this so I know I'm not going to run into the same problems again - but I really don't know what else to try? Any ideas?

  • White borders introduced during export?

Aperture seems to be randomly adding whire borders to only some of my images during export. Of two nearly identical images, one has them, the other does not. Look at these examples:
    http://www.reesweb.com/samples/border/
These images are both portions of screencaps of a Preview slideshow of two very similar images as exported from Aperture (i.e. Exported the two similar original images in exactly the same way, loaded them both into a Preview slideshow, took sceencaps of each, cut out a portion of them with photoshop).
The first looks fine. Note the black area along the top and left which is the background color for Preview slideshows.
The second has a weird border that was introduced during the Aperture export. The original did not have that border.
Anybody have any ideas about what's causing that border and is it something I can turn off?

It turns out that the white borders are introduced when exporting at DPI's other than 72. See my other thread about surprising jagginess for more info about the DPI issue.

  • Program crashes during export/media routine

My up to date Prem Pro CC 2014 crashes continually during export of a 10 minute video.  Contents are jpegs, Go pro movies and regular movies on top of music file.
Glad I'm not getting paid to miss this deadline...

    Hi Michael,
My up to date Prem Pro CC 2014 crashes continually during export of a 10 minute video.
    Sorry to hear that.
    Contents are jpegs
What is the frame size of the .jpg files? These should be less than 4000 x 4000 for best handling.
    Go pro movie
What is the frame size of the GoPro files?
    regular movies
What is the frame size of the video files?
    on top of music file.
What kind of audio file is it? Does the audio sample rate of the source file match the sequence settings for audio sample rate?
Are there any gaps between any of the movie files or .jpgs? If so, remove the gaps and try to export once more.
    Thanks,
    Kevin
