AE linked composition looks different in Premiere

Hi everyone!
I'm working on a Premiere Pro project that has several dynamic links. When I apply the effects in After Effects the image looks just the way I want, but even before rendering when I visualise the linked composition in Premiere Pro, it looks completely different (see images attached, first one from AE, second from Premiere).
I've tried exporting the AE file to see if the problem was something in Premiere's color management, but even in the export the AE file looks wrong.
What could be the reason?
Thank you!

I'm sorry, you are absolutely right! I was panicking so much when I made the original post that I left out the most important information!
First of all, this is a chroma key image. The character was filmed in front of a green screen and the "smokey" effects were added in After effects after I keyed out the green. I've tried exporting it in all possible formats and with several color management profiles selected, to no avail.
I'm using CS6 for both Premiere and AE.
Could this be related to the alpha/gamma proprieties of the image or effect?

  • Why do certain clips (photos), viewed in preview, on Adobe Premiere 11 look different on YouTube?

    Hi folks,
I've posted, via Adobe Premiere 11, two different music videos on YouTube and on my Facebook page. The first one, "Back In The Day", looks the same on YouTube (and Facebook) as it did when I viewed it (previewed it) on Premiere 11. But the second video, "Wicked World", that I posted on those internet sites, has certain clips (photos) that look different than what's seen on Premiere 11.
With "Wicked World", it almost looks like certain Panned & Zoomed photos are bigger in size than what the YouTube screen can show?
I used Pan & Zoom on some photos in both videos. But maybe with "Wicked World", I always set the "Hold" times to zero (0) when using Pan & Zoom on some photos. Or could it have something to do with the Track Size on the "Wicked World" Premiere 11 video? BTW, I see that by right clicking in an empty part of the track, the Track Size choices come up as small, medium or large.
Or is it something about upload choices on YouTube? Two different friends helped me with uploads to YouTube for each video, so maybe the first one, "Back In The Day", looks OK because that friend chose proper upload choices?
If you have time, or the inclination to see the difference for yourself, you can go on YouTube and type in on the search bar, "Wicked World Bob Fuchs". You'll see both a head shot of me playing harmonica for one YouTube choice, and a painting of Van Gogh as another way to get to the "Wicked World" problem video, and the "Back In The Day" good video.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Once I find out why "Wicked World" photos slide partly off the YouTube screen, I will delete it from YouTube and replace it with an issue free one.
I just want to learn what caused that, hopefully, so I can avoid that problem going forward.
    Thanks!

    A.T.please note:
After sending you a previous email reply to your latest response, I am forwarding a new thought.
I just tried out something you had suggested. I think it may solve the issue I have with the panned & zoomed photos on my "Wicked World" video - the ones that look weird when I view the video on YouTube (and Facebook).
So, in case you also think the following may be the answer, I will now copy and paste relevant parts of my previous email, PLUS include my new thoughts - in order not to waste your valuable time looking into an answer I may already have.
    Here goes:
The Premiere 11 Edit area monitor Magnification had already been set to "Fit".
In Edit Menu Preferences General, I already had a check mark on "Default Scale to Frame Size".
The properties of the first file (a Title screen) that I dragged into the Timeline are 1920 Horizontal, 1080 Vertical. But properties of subsequent photos, some of which I panned and zoomed, are mostly only around 648x599.
Upon viewing my "Wicked World" video carefully on YouTube, I see that what actually happens is that the box-like area where my video is shown (probably the same size of my Premiere 11 screen edit area?) is smaller than the YouTube's screen viewing area. That does not bother me. However, when the panned and zoomed photos occur, my smaller box area, within the YouTube screen, itself moves along with the panned & zoomed movement of the photos! That inner box moves slightly vertically, either up or down, and to lower right or left, depending on which direction the pan and zoom of each photo is going. And an empty border around the video area hangs there, within the YouTube viewing area.
So ... as you talked about, I tried something: I replaced an existing panned & zoomed photo (clip) in the Timeline with the same photo, and then I clicked on "Scale to Frame Size". The photo got bigger. I then did a new pan and zoom on it, and reduced the duration of how long that photo clip plays. Therefore, although the pan and zoom happens faster, it cues to the proper places in the music (audio) track. And I'm guessing that the larger "Scale to Frame Size" on that photo will now show properly in the YouTube viewing area, without the smaller inner box area moving too, along with the panned and zoomed photo?
I have only done this on one of my previously panned and zoomed photos in the video. But if you think this may solve the viewing issue on YouTube, that I described above, then I'll do the same with all the previously panned and zoomed photos in my video, and save it as a new version on Premiere 11.
I guess I'd then try and delete the existing "Wicked World" video from YouTube, and replace it with the new, hopefully issue-free version.
What do you think? Should I try this, and then replace the old one on YouTube?
    Best Regards,Bob [email protected]

  • HELP! Please :) my website looks different in different browsers. Link boxes are showing in IE!!

Please help me!  I'm pretty new to web design.  Built this website from scratch - designed in photoshop and put together in dreamweaver.  I launched the site and it looks great in safari, but had a friend look at it with explorer and the blue link boxes (the one that lets you know you have something linked in dreamweaver) are showing up on the interent explorer browser and I can only assume there are issues in other browsers as well.  Please help if you can.  Here is a link to my website:   www.shandryntrumble.com  Thanks

Thanks for your help!Should I create an external style sheet?  I'm still unsure of where and what to put in the document.  Where are the CSS  tags?  And what exactly do I place in them?  Sorry, I'm so new to this.  Thanks for your patience.

Bad information.  You don't need a class for this.  Simply add the following CSS code to your style sheet.  An external style sheet is preferred but it if you don't have one yet, add this code to the CSS inside the  tags of your HTML document. /*remove borders from all linked images*/a img    Nancy O.

  • Adobe dynamic link-From after effects to Premiere

I have few sequences save in different After effects versions because my project was to big to work with one final after effect version.
I would like to use Adobe dynamic link to send all the seuqences into Adobe premiere to make a "one sequence" that I could export.
But when I am using Adobe dynamique link, I need to close and open the differents versions saved in after effects.
When I do it, the sequences appear offline in Premiere.
What can I do to see all the sequences online?Do I have to work with affter effects online all the time?
    Thanks a lot,
    Alice

First and foremost, running After Effects is not necessary so as to be able to work with dynamically linked compositions in Premiere Pro. PrPro invokes headless version of AE in the background so as to communicate with dynamically linked comps.
Second, while working with dynamically linked compositions avoid incremental numbers at the end of your AE projects names. Better yet, avoid incremental numbers at the end of your dynamically linked comps names as well in both AE and PrPro by giving them meaning names instead of default ones. If you really need to include incremental numbers in those names, insert them somewhere in the middle. The bug related to incremental numbers at the end of the names was biting strongly in CS5.5 (don't remember if CS5 was affected as well) and was claimed as fixed in CS6.
See also this good old thread about Dynamic Link workflow: when it is wise to rely on Dynamic Link and when - on a digital intermediate. Pay attention to Todd's comments.

  • Styles looking different in RH8 for Word source and Webhelp

    Hi All,
I am using RH8 for Word. There are close to 900 topics in my project. My problem is that the styles that I used in my RH Word documents and the styles displayed after generating Webhlep are looking different. Also, that is not consistent with all the topics; some are generated exactly as the styles are in RH Word documents, but some are generated differently. An example might help you clearly understand.
    Example
I have used the following styles in my RH Word documents:
    ·                                 Normal for body text
    ·                                 Heading1 for headings
[to see the below images clearly please zoom in the browser display]
The following figure shows topic1 when the styles are applied in RH Word:
This is another topic2 when the styles are applied in RH Word:
    Output for topic1 in webhelp:
    Output for topic2 in webhelp:
As you can see, the styles applied in topic1 and its output matches, whereas it is different for topic2 in Word and in Webhelp. I am not using any templates in RH Word. Can anyone please explain why this inconsistency. Is there a way to resolve this. I will be glad to provide you more information if required.
    Thank you,
    Vinay

    Hi again
Well, one might assume that you knew where the WebHelp output folder was because you are reporting the images aren't showing when you view WebHelp. So the question now becomes: How exactly are you viewing the WebHelp? Are you clicking the "View Result" button after you generate? Are you viewing after you publish it to the Web Server? (That doesn't sound right as you are saying the "keeper" won't push it until the image issue is resolved. This would seem to infer that you aren't involved other than to post and act as an intermediary?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Colors look different in titler than on timeline

Colors look different in titler than on timeline. Here's a screen grab. The upper image is the program monitor and the lower image is the titler. Both are on the same monitor.
I guess it's a bug and I will report it but I wonder if anyone else is seeing this.

What is your Premiere Monitor Playback Res set at?
    What is the Preview Setting?
Jims advice is useless in this instance. He expects you to do an output file everytime you make a tweak in Titler or Sequence just to see what you might abitrarily be getting.

  • Create DNG Profile - Why does it look different in the DNG Editor vs LR/ACR?

Hi everyone, I am sorry if this has been covered before -- perhaps you could give me a link to the relevant info.
I have a client who shoots with a Leica DMR.  The reds are way to saturated and magenta.  We created a new camera profile in the DNG editor using a color-checker chart, shot at D6500 and Tungsten.  Looks great, and Lightroom recognizes it.  The issue:  when we look at a photograph in the DNG editor with this profile, it looks much better.  When we look at the same photograph in LR/ACR with the profile selected, the reds are still too saturated and magenta (though way better than without our profile).  Why would a photo look different in the two applications, with the same profile?
    As shown in DNG Editor:
    As shown in LR:
Thank you for any light you can shed on this.
    Laura Shoe

Here is an additional comparison further highlighting the magenta issue (amongst others).  Shot with Leica R9 w/DMR(firmware1.3) using Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 35-70mm at ISO 100, f/4.8, 1/60.  Manual WB=4912K, no Exp Comp.
Here is screen shot of same DNG image. Un-altered in either app., no presets, no sharpening, or noise reduction.  CaptureOne (v4.8.3) on the left, and LR2 (v2.6)
Here is what the above screen shot looks like thru CS3:
you must click on image to see CS3 rendering - browser is not accurate
    Anyone no what's going on?
PS the images were shot just shy of perfect focus to test sharpening in both apps, same levels applied to both images (C1 on left, LR on right).  Here are the results:

  • Exported PDF looks different in Preview, Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I'm relatively new to InDesign and experiencing all sort of problems. I'm trying to export PDF of my resume in a small size file to send it over the email. However, after exporting when I view PDF document in different applications, it looks different.
    1) In Adobe Reader in 100% view the letters in bold are "jumping". Please see the screenshot below
    2) The colors of the logo come out right when viewed in Adobe Reader. Which is 1st image:
However when viewed in applications such as Preview or just default Mac preview with space bar. The colors of the logo and the contact details comes out completely different then in Adobe Reader.
I export the PDF with the default settings that comes with smallest file size but I need to make sure it looks good as this resume is for my job and will be viewed most probably on the computer. The logo is linked to Adobe Illustator file in InDesign document.
Please help as I spend about 3 hours trying to figure it out. I would really appreciate your help!
    Natalia

    Hi Mike,
Thank you for your answer. I've tried most of the thing you recommended but it doesn't work:
    1) The file was originally created in CMYK and then I converted it to sRGB in InDesign. As well as chose transperency blend space as RGB. As for the logo then the option in Illustrator to convert the file into RGB mode seems to be disabled.
3). Exactly what I was doing.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong... Is there a way to import all the links from illustrator into InDesign file?

  • Bug? Corrupt Tones / Colours - Image looks different in photoshop

    Hi,
Am hoping somebody can help me as I must be doing something really stupid here. I'm currently evaluating various workflow products, and really like Lightroom but find that whenever I import an image into LR the tones, particular shadow tones, look way too dark. They look kinda posterised.
My monitor is color calibrated with a spyder. I am running Windows XP.
I've attached a link to an image to demonstrate. I took an sRGB JPEG and imported into LR. I then edited a copy in PS (exported as ProPhoto - converted in PS to Adobe 1988 colorspace), another copy is shown exported to Capture NX (also Adobe colorspace).
    http://www.hamiltonconsulting.net/strange%20tones.jpg
if you look at the shadow tones in the folds of the jacket you can see a minor difference between PS and Capture NX but you can see a clear difference in LR. The shadows are way darker.
The image opens fine it every other application I have tried, including the free XP viewers. LR is doing something strange to the file but I cant work out what.
I first noticed the problem occuring in Beta 4.1 and am now getting the same issue in the new Lightroom demo ( I had hoped it was a bug that would have been fixed). I have been installing all sorts of evaluation software of late, so maybe something hasnt been cleaned out of my registry, or something is clashing.
So far, I've tried lots of different images (all with the same problem). Recreating an image database. Reinstalling LR (countless times).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try or do I need to reinstall my entire PC :-(

The image on the left in PS looks the same in Picasa Image
Viewer (I selected it to be color managed based on the monitor profile), looks the same in Windows Image Viewer, and looks the same in the thumbnail.  The image on the right in LR is how the picture looks when I look at my image in Firefox but in Internet Explorer and in Chrome, the image looks like the image on the left in PS.  The image below shows how the thumbnail looks different from the actual picture when it's double clicked and viewed in Picasa.  The thumbnail (which shows the subjects having green skin) would be how I saw it online while the double clicked version is how I saw it in PS, even though it was sRGB (I checked the image properties to make sure of the color space).
I have a ATI 5470 GPU on my ASUS 17.3 inch laptop.  Not sure about the drivers.

    Other pages have similar behaviour.
And there's no link for the home page. Perhaps you're hiding it.

Hi, I have a couple of questions.  Does anyone happen to know why my homepage looks different in Dreamweaver when I preview in browser then it does when I upload the page onto the server?  http://www.iewaterkeeper.org/  I see a join our mailing list button is intact when I preview in browser but is no where to be found when I view the uploaded page from the server.  Other weird things have been going on with Dreamweaver today like I wasn't able to absolute position a div tag in it's intended place and all the typography on my homepage looks very blurry in Dreamweaver but looks clearer when it's uploaded to the server.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  .... Which version of the photoshop elements are you using.
You can get the help files of the latest version of photoshop elements 11 from the following link:

  • After Effects Composition Not Refreshing in Premiere Pro

I'm using a late 2013 Macbook pro 15 inch 2.3ghz with Creative Cloud CC, updated as of 27/5/14.
I am linking after effects compositions in my premiere pro sequence. After pressing enter to render my effects and watch my project so far, i'll go to change some text in my linked after effects composition, save it, and go back into premiere. The project is not updated in premiere, even when scrubbing through, restarting both apps, even restarting the computer. The only fix i have found is to click on 'Delete Render Files in to out" and then re-render the effects in my entire sequence, which is very inconvenient when all I want is to see a single small change.
How do I get my sequence to automatically update when I make a change in a linked composition?

    Ann,
I understand what you are saying. I'm not really even concerned or talking about Dynamic Linking per se. No matter what way you bring in an AE comp it's always gonna be dynamic linked. Even if you import it like it was a regular piece of media it's always gonna be DL'd in the Premiere comp.
    Jim,
I agree and understand why  the 2nd diesn't work. I wouldn't expect the 'replace with AE' in premiere to work mainly because whatever media you used in the AE comp is not brought over. Wish it would treat the AE comp like it was a piece of media and just carry it over.
    About the other...,.
Also are you sure were talking about the same thing? I'm talking about opening only After Effects then File - Import - Premiere Pro project.  When I do this everywhere there was an AE comp in my PR timeline. It is now missing. Even if manually replace it with AE comp in AE, it has no idea where the media is. I have to manually re-import every AE project and stick it back in the timeline.
Have you tried it with CS4? I don't have CS3 anymore but I seem to remember it wasn't a problem back then.
Also Jim if you still say this works for you, would you mind if I uploaded a .prproj with say one piece of media, then a simple AE (only titles or solids) would you mind checking it on your version of AE?
