AE ok on 10.4.6 iBook, but now frequent cut out or freeze on 10.2.8 iBook

I have an Airport Extreme base station, about two years old, running 5.4 firmware I think. It's connected by cable to one iMac and I also connect wirelessly with my newer iBook G4. Both run 10.4; they have no connectivity problems.
My steadfast blueberry clamshell iBook runs 10.2.8, and has up until the last month or so been connecting wirelessly to the AE just fine. Now it has terrible fits and starts, even when the other iBook has no problems at all.
Despite the computer sitting 6 feet from the base station, suddenly there will be no network connectivity. (Sometimes the Airport menu icon grays out, but it doesn't always do this right away.) Sometimes turning Airport off and then on again helps, even right in the midst of trying to load a web page; sometimes not. Sometimes putting the computer to sleep and then waking it up helps. Usually at that kind of moment there's no problem with the computer "seeing" our network: it's right there listed in Internet Connect, ready to be (re)connected to. Sometimes the iBook freezes entirely and has to be restarted -- can't even activate Force Quit. Sometimes I'll go as long as 30-60 minutes without problems; sometimes I can't get even a few minutes at a stretch when it's working. (
Signal strength is not a problem: every time I open Internet Connect on the blueberry and actually get connected, the signal strength is high. And of course the G4 has no problems. Even so, I've tried changing the AE channel, with no noticeable effect. I've got all green lights on the AE and the cable modem. No phones, no microwaves, no brick walls. And the main thing is: it used to work just fine, same set-up, and I'm not aware of having done anything new to screw it up.
Is this a firmware problem? a problem local to my blueberry iBook? something else?

I do not know if they are related problems, but possibly a little process of elimination could identify that. For a few days, why don't you try connecting your iBook to the AEBS via an ethernet cable? At this point, wireless signal loss wouldn't be an issue. During the time that you are connected by wire, are you still experiencing any iBook freezing? If not, that's kind of good, but it would imply that iBook is not handling the "loss-of-signal"/"re-connection" sequence properly. In that event, is it possible for you to bring the iBook forward (later version of System & Airport software)?
-- If the iBook still freezes even when you are wired to the AEBS, then does it only happen when the iBook wakes up? If it still freezes when wired, but randomly, then perhaps try repairing permissions or bringing forward your OS version. Beyond that, hopefully not, your iBook hardware is having a senior moment.
---- Maybe I have been way off base in what I have said to you, but the freezing with no force quit option would really upset me if I was getting it. I tried to imagine myself in that situation and what I might do - but then I am far removed from being any kind of expert in this forum.

They don't exist in iCloud.
iCloud is Apple's service for backups and App data storage / syncing.
Purchased Apps, when removed from the iPad will still appear in your Purchased history, and you can still download them from "the" cloud which is just a generic term for Apple's App servers.
Purchased Apps can de re-downloaded for free from the "cloud". To allow you to do this Apple keeps a historic list of all your purchases so you can download them again should you ever need to without charging you again for them.
This has nothing to do with the iCloud service you can choose not to use. For Calendars, Notes etc...
It is independent un unrelated.

I downloaded the audiobook Shiver, but the adio cuts out about half way through part 2?

Last night I downloaded the audiobook Shiver (by Maggie Stiefvater) on my iPod touch, but the audio cuts out about an hours into the second part. It just goes silent. Help?

I don't suppose you're using 10.5.0? Apparently, that version of iTunes has some issues with Audible audiobooks (at least). Its only with format 4, so if you get the hight quality files, or the lower quality, the book should still play fine.
There is a version 10.5.1, but be warned, it has several bad changes from the previous version. In that audiobooks are now treated like just big audio files. You can't select chapters & there's no bookmarking.
Plus, I think there was a 30 second quick reverse, that has gone away as well.

Airport Express: am playing my stereo speakers but it continually cuts out

I'm actually streaming the AX to an Apple TV (2nd gen.), which connects to my receiver via HDMI. After playing around with it a bit more last night, I've determined that the interference is definitely from the wifi network. The static is most pronounced whenever data is passing over the network (i.e., when I am loading a website on my laptop, when I'm accessing my iTunes library over the ATV, etc.). So, as strange as it might sound, it appears that my receiver has started picking up electromagnetic interference from my AX wifi network.
This leads me to believe that it's a shielding issue with either the AX or the receiver. I've certainly heard of people experiencing faulty shielding in receivers, but has anyone ever heard of shielding issues with the AX? Unfortunately, I don't have an extra wireless router or receiver lying around, so I can't easily switch them out to see which one is the culprit. Any suggestions?

If it's http://www.mymaths.co.uk/ then there does appear to flash-based content on it. Assuming that they haven't got there own app in the store, then browser apps such as Puffin, Photom, Skyfire and iSwifter might work with it, but there is no guarantee (they don't work with all flash-based sites).

Trying to download the first 4.5GB CS6 Design Web Premium package several times, but the download cuts out midway through...

I'm using Windows 8.1 (fully updated) and Chrome.
This issue is really eating my bandwidth by having to delete and download the file again. The final file has different sizes in the end, from approximately 0.5GB to 2.0GB.

I've moved to a different house/network and plugged in through wired Ethernet.
I tried downloaded two different download managers and also tried each using Internet Explorer and Firefox as well... I'm currently using the computer while it's downloading so it's not going to sleep. I've also turned off my firewalls and anti-virus and it's "completed" the download four additional times, all of which stopped at exactly 480,704 KB.
I'm out of ideas... Are there any Adobe download clients that will download each program within the CS6 package and install individually?

I signed up with verizon three days ago and I was eligible for edge and it sounded good. After doing some research I found out the sales rep didn't fill me in on all the details and I didn't read all the fine print on their nifty little iPads they use.
So now I would like to get off edge and pay $200 for the phone and go on a 2 year contract... Is that possible?

I had the same question. @HappyHelper we have to pay a restocking fee to get off the "Edge" program and get on a 2-year contract even though we want to keep the same phone? It sounds like Bruce is saying the same thing. I don't want to return my phone, I just want to change the agreement, there is nothing for them to "restock".

I had the same problem. After numerous attemps to Restore from Itunes, I decided to use the "Setup as New Ipad" option. It went through a few question on new setups. Afterwards all my apps, data, photo's were still intact. Which shows that the Restore from Itunes worked. There must be a small bug that prevents the Ipad to open after "Restore from Itunes" . Hope it will help you.

Hi, James.
Yes, the iBook should run even with no battery installed.
These are the four most common possibilities when the battery will not charge:
(1) there is something wrong with your battery
(2) there is something wrong with your power adapter
(3) there is something wrong with your power input board (the part that contains the port where you plug in the adapter)
(4) there is something wrong with your logic board
Since you have eliminated all the possibilities except (4), it is likely that your logic board is having problems. The PMU (Power Management Unit) is part of the logic board, and it may be going out (hence, temporarily working again when you reset it). Since the iBook is not running reliably without the battery in place (as it should), replacing the battery most likely would be futile.
When a computer gets to be five years old, it seems a bit short-sighted to pay very much for repairs, just to have something else go wrong sooner rather than later. Have you had a look at the hugely improved specs on the new MacBooks? Is it time for a new portable to avoid embarrassment during your presentations? It sounds like that could be your best option.

My phone is not syncing properly, I wanted to add another playlist to it that I created on my Mac. I pluged in my phone and made sure the playlist I wanted to add was checked to be on my phone when I synced.
The playlist I wanted to add was "Country." It is clearly checked. I also wanted to add the "Recently Added" playlist, which I also checked before sycing. Currently, my phone only has the "Purchased" playlist and my "All Songs" playlist on it. When I hit sync, iTunes added another playlist automatically added another playlist to the list above and checked it. It was titled "ALL SONGS 1" and had ten fewer songs in it than the playlist I had created, "ALL SONGS" had. This playlist, however does not show up on my phone after syncing, nor does "Country" or "Recently Added." (Every time I sync, another playlist is created as "ALL SONGS 2, 3, 4, etc.") One of the songs (I have not, yet checked the other songs) that I purchased from within iTunes Radio shows up in the "ALL SONGS 1" on this screen:
But does not show up anywhere else. This playlist does not show up anywhere but the two screens above. The ALL SONGS 1 or 2 playlists do not show up here:
When I search for those song in my library, it shows that I do not have them:

If you are now in the US then you can only use the US store, so you should update the address on your account
Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
Had you copied the songs over to your computer's iTunes library, do they show in the Music section on it ? You can copy purchases that you still have on your iPad over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option

Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule? It used to work with old Airport Extreme with updates thru Snow Leopard but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA.

Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule? It used to work with old Airport Extreme network, run from a intel iMac with updates thru Mavericks but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA and can't connect to Time Capsule. Airport Extreme Base was controllable from either computer up through Snow Leopard (I didn't do any of the Lion upgrades). Then when I upgraded to Mavericks I lost the ability to use Airport Utility with this hardware on the Sunflower but could still connect wirelessly to network without any problems. But now with the Time Capsule upgrade the Sunflower is blocked from network by a dialogue that requests ony WEP password, not WPA pwd used by Time Capsule. Neither can I use the old airport extreme base to extend the time capsule network since I can't input the correct password/encryption approach to join it. Is there a work around? Would a newer but old Airport Express be able to extend network to Sunflower? Or maybe a third party wireless (such as Netgear, Dlink, etc) that has browser type control rather than special utility?
Another question--before I used MAC addresses to control who could access network. Now on Time Capsule I don't see anything about this--so is it true now that the only access control is via WPA2 pwd now (which appears to be the encryption pwd and not the time capsule pwd)?

I can’t claim to completely grasp the issue(s) you’re describing, but the underlying problem is presumably your iMac’s obsolete AirPort card. Whatever the case, an obvious (if not particularly helpful) answer to your stated question would be to connect your iMac with an ethernet cable, using powerline adapters as an alternative if you don’t want to have wire running all over the place.
My still fully functional clamshell iBook, with an original AirPort card, connects wirelessly to my 4th Generation TC network by means of a cheap 802.11b/g/n USB Wi-Fi adapter. This might be an option for you too.

When you edit your TC's settings the access controls appear under the Network tab, don't they?
