AE Render Engine Run as Background Service ?

Hello,
I am trying to setup a render farm with AE networked rendering and was wondering if there was a way to make the Render Engine become a background service so it would not require any log on for it function (for example 3dsmax's backburner, V-ray, Maya... they all run as a background service on the render farm)

I have looked into it and have successfully got it to run AfterFX as a service, EXCEPT it doesn't seem to be taking into account the parameters -re -wf <path>(formatted like this: "z:\folder" where z: is a mapped drive ). I used the nssm software to make afterfx a service. Now I can see the AfterFX.exe process running in the task manager but it doesn't do anything such as picking up a render job, there's no watched_folder.htm file being created there as opposed to just runnig it . I guess I have to figure that part out so it actually renders.
Any Ideas ?

Creative Cloud background service constantly uses high-performance graphics card on MacBook Pro

On my MacBook Pro mid-2010, I recently noticed that the high-performance graphics card for some reason was constantly on. In MacBooks as of 2009, there are two graphics cards that can be used, one integrated, one PCIe. The integrated one is less powerful, but is used to preserve battery. The other one is enabled when there is a high demand for graphics power.
I saw that when the Creative Cloud service (with this I mean the general software package that tracks for updates and syncs fonts and files) was loaded into the system, the MacBook automatically starts using this high-performance graphics card, even without any other software running, just freshly from boot. This, of course, drains battery and I don't think that much power is needed to run a background service. The only way to stop the high-performance graphics card from kicking in, is by terminating the complete Creative Cloud service, which is of course not very useful when you use the sync feature a lot.
Is there a solution for this problem, or can you release an update of the software that addressess this issue?
If I need to provide you with logs or other relevant information, please let me know.

Helped me to notice that it's better to quit Photoshop if not using it because it still uses the nVidia GPU if Photoshop is not even the active application (eg. running in the background).
But still, sometimes after closing Photoshop, gfxCardStatus says that nVidia GPU is in use for process 'Creative Cloud'.
I'm mostly running on battery and nVidia GPU consumes much, much more battery than the integrated, Intel HD Graphics 4000 so this is a big issue for me.

I tried the same advises on my static IP address and it works fine, and very quickly some times, thank you.
My Appache function well and I test a sample webpage.
The domain name did not succeed in my network, may be because its a fake one, I do not really know but I already have an active domain but want to use it when the things will work for sure in all the aspects, and finish the tests.
Your advises were very useful for me.
But I still get the TCP_Error with timeout, some times, I think, the issue is related to the network now (not sure, but the tests takes long time and I prefere to let you know the development for now) , I'm trying to fix the network, as much as I can to get the perfect performance. But I just wonder about the Listener , may be there is something we need to change, still testing
Did you tried your applications onsite from multiple workstations at the same time in Oracle XE using your web server?

Running as linux background service

Hi
I am making a background service to be run on linux machines. As far as I know, Linux services are just regular programs running as: "programname &"
However, before I begin I would like to know if there is anything else I should take into account. For instance, when giving status/information/warning/errors should I just dump it to System.out.println, or is there any other stream that are more appropriate?

no one know anything about this? I would even be
satisfied with only a "no you dont have to do
anything special" or something like that...No you dont have to do anything special ;-)

Java App running as a service in background needs to display a GUI message

Its a client server application. Where in the application runs as a service. When the database connections is lost, it logs the information in the log files that application will retry after sometime. What i need is instead of logging the information, i want to pop-up a message box stating the same log message.
Now i have tried few things:
1) while running it as a service, i go the service's properties -> logon tab-> select "allow service to interact desktop"
This solves my problem and displays the message. But i don't want my user to see the ugly black console all the time.
Let me know if anyone can give me a better solution to the same.

Can ABAP proxy to consume WSDL file be run as background job for every10min

I have a requirement where I need to build an interface which gatheru2019s the purchase order details and send to external third party software in their required format (as an XML file).
So I should be the first point of contact and should trigger the interface each time a purchase order is generated.
So I am thinking that I should develop a background job for every 10 minutes which will look for new purchase orders and gathers the information of the purchase orders and send them to external third party software in their required format.
I have gone through all the SAP forums and e-Learning but still I have confusion in regards to how is it possible technically? Can some one guide me with some information on the same.
I have a little bit of confusion and want to know few things.
1)     Should I create a web service or should I consume a web service?
2)     If I need to consume a web service, then can I write an ABAP proxy to be run in background fro evry 10 minutes? I mean can we run ABAP proxy as a batch job in the background?
3)     Is there a difference between consuming an XML file and WSDL File?
Any Help will be highly appreciated.

There are two options (as I know) to generate XML file.
1. Use XML TRANSFORMATION to get the XML string based your TRANSFORMATION. You can input your data and get back the XML string. Download this string to a file
Test XML generation program is:
types: begin of ty_data,
       num   type i,
       end   of ty_data.
DATA: itab TYPE standard table of ty_Data,
      la_data like line of itab,
      xmlstr TYPE string.
DO 3 TIMES.
la_data-num = sy-index.
APPEND la_data TO itab.

SOURCE table = itab
RESULT XML xmlstr.
CALL FUNCTION 'DISPLAY_XML_STRING'
EXPORTING xml_string = xmlstr.
My ZTEST_NP1 transformation. To create a transformation, click on the transformation in the "CALL TRANSFORMATION ztest_np1" statement. Select Simple transformation type.

Running a java service on linux (Redhat)

I can create a basic script to run my java service, I can stop, and restart it from the command line when logged in. I have installed the script as a service. However, when I reboot, the service will not start. I have set it to be the very last thing to start on boot-up. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the fact that when I run a java program, it does not bring me back to the command line, it just 'hangs' until it is completed, and this particular java program will obviously hang indefinitely as it is a service.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Abap parameters to perform program in background service

Hi Guys,
we created a Z program, where into it we call a standard function module.
This Z program is executed by user in DIALOG process, in a Z screen created. When user clicks on button, it starts this standard function module XXX. We need that this XXX standard function module to be executed as BACKGROUND process.
Follow the ABAP code running the function module:
CALL FUNCTION 'xxx' IN BACKGROUND TASK
We though that this would run the task as BACKGROUND process, however, the SM50 transaction shows that this FM is running on DIALOG service. We guess the reason for that is because the program is using the same DIALOG process as button that triggers the function module.
Someone knows other parameter to force the FM to be performed in background even it we already set it in the program. Is there other call type to force it? I mean, we want to disassociate the Z execution using dialog service for FM can be performed as background.

For executing in Backgorund Task it should be Remote enabled.

Is there a step by step instruction on how to install and use the ae render engine?

The answers on the adobe are in computer-ese and I just don't get it. Currently I am using ae 5.5 on a 2.8 eight core with a quad core waiting to be accessed for rendering.

I'm not sure I understand your question. The render engine is installed with you installed CS5.5 If you want to use another computer for rendering all you have to do is to install AE on that computer, open up the render engine (it says what it is in name of the app) and then open your project file, pick the comps you want to render and press render.
If you are trying to get the render engine to work in the background then you need to do a bunch of other stuff and we need to know all about your system, operating system down to the last decimal point, memory, and projects to point you to what may be the best setup. We also need to understand what you want to be doing with this machine while it is rendering. Things like working on another project in AE while rendering may require different settings than working in Photoshop or answering email's while rendering.

Need help with after effects render engine setup

I use AE CS6 on a mac computer running Mountain Lion. I also own a PC running Windows 7, and I am wanting to use it to assist with network rendering. How do I install the after effects render engine on a PC, when all that I own is the Mac version of the software?

Did you purchase a perpetual license for the software, or do you have a Creative Cloud Membership subscription?
If the former, you need to purchase an additional license to get the Windows version. If the latter, you can just download the Windows version as part of your subscription.

Running In Background on Server

I am with a Sender and Receiver application where the Receiver runs on a Server and the Sender runs on the Client. What I would like to do is have the Receiver run on the server and continue to set and run waiting for files to be transmitted. I attempted to put a for loop in the program however, the program generated this following thrown exception when I sent a file the second time:

Any help with this would be appreciated.

The crazy thing here is it will run properly if I allow it to run once, transfer the file and receive it, and let the program complete and teminate.
If I attempt to set this class in a loop I get the thrown exception. I would really like to have this run in background and continue to run and not terminate after each Send and Receive. Is there a way to do this?
The diagram for this would be:
1. Run and wait for sender to send file.
2. Receive the file and write it out to the local dirve.
3. Notify the client the send was successful.
4. Go back to sleep and wait for another file to be sent.

In your program are you using any cl_gui_frontend_services methods. That means
any cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download
cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload
If you are using frontend services background job. The job will not work

How to make a program run in background?

Is there any ways to make an invisible program with java? a program that is running in background but the user cannot see it and it's not in the Start bar and the user cannot close it.

There are also 3rd party software that lets you install a java program as a service in winnt/2k/xp so that you can start/stop it from the service manager, doesnt even matter if the java program is gui based or not, as there are options (in win2k at least) in the service manager that allows the program to interact (think show gui) or not...one software called JNT comes to mind..
Anyway, if you're using win98/me equivalent, then just use javaw.exe like suggested by previous posters.

Go into preferences and under playback turn off background render. That helped speed things for me when working with large files.
