AE won't let second laptop print wirelessly

My mac mini which I used to set my new AE prints with no problems wirelessly to my printer. ( I've got the Brother printer hooked up by ethernet to the AE).
However, no matter how I try I can't print anything to that same printer from my Macbook Pro. Do I need to reinstall the printer drivers on my laptop? Do I need to do something on the mac mini Airport Utility setup?
This is really frustrating.
Please help!
Thanks.

After doing that, open Disk Utility, select the partition or volume with your OS X, click the "Repair Permissions" button, and allow it to run until completed. (Mine runs for at least 3 minutes,)
Then open the "Print & Fax" panel of System Preferences, add + your printer to your list of printers (your MBP's list may be only one printer or many, depending how many different printers you've accessed). Then set your printer to be your "Default Printer" and quit System Preferences. Next time you go to print, you should see your printer offered, and it should be able to print as long as no error message (such as "out of ink" or "paper jam") shows.
P.S. No mention of the exact Brother model, but some multi-function printers require the software install besides a driver install for all functions and features to work. My HP MFP did.

  • Arch won't let me Power off Wireless

There's a button on my laptop ( hp nc6000)that turns off the wireless and bluetooth hardware--but Arch won't let me. When I press the button, the indicator light just starts flickering for a few seconds and then goes back to shining with a steady blue light as if the wireless was still on. But I lose connection with my wireless AP. It's not a hardware malfunction; I've tried with a live CD and there things work as they should. Also, it worked with Arch the first couple of days after installation. I thought maybe the ifplugd daemon I installed had something to do with it, but no.
So the problem is that I Arch won't let me power off my wireless hardware. Does anyone have any idea where I should start looking?
[Edit: The indicator light won't flicker, but shine steadily for a few seconds, then blink, shine steadily, blink, shine....]

sudo gpasswd -a $USER storage (if you have sudo installed and configured)
    or: su -p
then: gpasswd -a $USER storage (if you don't have sudo installed)
you might want to add yourself to theese groups too: audio, optical, network, wheel (and hal if you have installed it and loaded it in modules)

  • Safari won't let me change printer paper size

I am having a bizarre problem printing USPS labels from Safari. For some reason it shows my paper size as 13x19 in the printer dialog and there is no way I can change this (I tried in the printer driver and through System preferences and the changes would not "take"). I have three HP printers and only one of them can print 13x19 paper. I tried changing the default paper size on all three printer drivers but they all will only show 13x19, so if I try to print a 8x11 document on any of the printers, it won't print scaled normally to 8x11 paper - instead I get large font prints that are cut off. I tried different "scale to fit" settings in the drivers and nothing worked.
Finally, I switched to Firefox and it worked perfectly!
Interestingly, when I try printing a normal webpage from Safari, it WILL print on 8x11, but not a USPS label!
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Peter

Safari won't let me customize a new computer on the Apple store website.
Try emptying your Safari cache. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, go to the menu bar again, click Safari > Reset Safari
Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
Quit then relaunch Safari, try the Apple Store    http://store.apple.com/us
If you have installed any extensions, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Prefereces then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test the store.
And make sure Java is enabled in Safari > Preferences - Security

  • Firefox won't let my laptop scrollwheel scroll up or down

This is confusing me very much because I have never had this problem before, with the previous FF version.
pg-up and pg-down works, but my laptop scrollwheel won't. This is starting to really get on my nerves, because using the pg up/down buttons tears on them and it's really slow...
I'm starting to wonder if the problem is because I have to many tabs open. The scroller does work when I open a new window next to the one I'm using right now. But as mentioned earlier, I never had this problem with the previous FF.
I really hope someone can help me because I don't want to switch over to a new internet browser or close my tabs... I really want to keep my tabs, this is why I chose FF. It can save and keep my tabs exactly as I left them. No matter if I turn off internet or my entire computer.
I've tried closing FF off and on, restarting my laptop and even some searching on my own on what to do. So far, no luck...
I'm using a packard bell laptop, and I have windows XP

I think it happens because a PDF is open in another tab. It actually scrolls the PDF up and down in the other tab, you just can't see it. Super annoying. I use PDFs all the time and am thinking of switching to Chrome if this doesn't get resolved soon.

  • Unable to connect second laptop to wireless, spent...

    Hi
I've had my old laptop connected via wireless for a number of years.  Just bought a new laptop.  It connected ok in my office (not on a BT contract), so brought it home to use.  When I put the yellow cable in it works.  But I cannot connect to it via wireless.
I downloaded the BT help tool, nothing worked.  I spent about 40 mins on the BT help line and the operator concluded that it must be something technical to do with my router as it was old.  She then told me to phone the technical help line and I would be charged a fee.
Can anyone give me some ideas on what to check or if this is a common fault.
    Thanks

I remember those limited version 1.5 edition ones.
The main issue with the home hub 1.5 is that by default it uses WEP 64 encryption which is very easy to circumvent and is obsolete now.
Many wireless cards do not offer this by defaut, as its insecure. You can sometimes find a WEP option hidden on one of the settings.
You really need to change the encryption to WPA, the instructions are below.
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10360/~/how-do-i-change-between-wep-and-wpa%3F
You will need to re-enter the new wireless key on any wireless devices afterwards.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • WRT54GL: setup suddenly won't let me change the wireless channel anymore

I have a Linksys WRT54GL version 1.1. The firmware is 4.30.11 (European version).
In the Basic Wireless Settings I can't change the Wireless Channel. It remains at channel 1, and I simply can't alter it.
This is strange, because in earlier firmware versions, I was able to change the channel without any problems at all. I would like to continue to use this firmware version. How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance, Pjotr.
Message Edited by pjotr123 on 04-01-2008 10:25 AM

Not a browser thing; I tried Firefox, Epiphany and Konqueror. I found the solution, however!
Apparently a small bug in the firmware, but it can be circumvented. Changing wireless channels becomes impossible when in the Advanced Wireless Settings, SecureEasySetup is disabled.
So all you have to do to change wireless channels, is to enable SecureEasySetup. You have to keep it enabled, however: disabling it after a successful channel change, reverts the wireless channel to number 1 again and keeps it locked again.
For the time being (until Linksys fixes this bug), I will have to be satisfied with channel 1. Because I dislike the one-button-security thing SES, and I prefer to define my own security manually. Also I fear an accidental button-pressing.... :-)
    Thanks anyway for your assistance.
    Greetz, Pjotr.

  • IPad won't print wireless since power went off and on yesterday,  but will print wirelessly from laptop.  What do I do?

iPad says my printer is off line ( since power went off and on yesterday.  My laptop prints wireless though so I am wondering how to get my IPad back to printing?

Restart your printer and router by removing power to them for 30 seconds.

  • IMac won't let me print on both sides using my hp D2400 printer

I just received my iMac and was trying to print on both sides using my hp D2400. But, on the option page, it won't let me choose "Print on both sides". Why? How do I fix it? Thanks!!

From the HP Support site, have you done the following, as you need to:
Install or update the HP software with Apple Software Update
Choose your connection type for steps to install HP software using Apple Software Update.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03404580&lc=en #N187
    USB connection
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click Software Update . Software Update checks for available updates and updates the database that your Mac uses to determine available printer software.
Click Show Details , select any available software updates, and then click Install .
NOTE: Install all available updates for best printer performance and functionality.
Turn on your printer, and then make sure that it has paper in the tray and that it is in a ready state.
Connect the USB cable to the printer and to the Mac. A print queue is automatically created for your printer. If the Mac already has current software for your printer, the print queue is created in the background.NOTE:If you are prompted to install any additional software for your printer, click Install , and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan , and then make sure that your printer is in the list of available devices. If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign ( ) at the bottom of the left pane, click the name of your USB printer, and then click Add .NOTE: Quit and restart any applications that were open before adding the printer to use the updated HP software features.
    Hope this helps

  • Laptop printer won't print wirelessly

Hi    My laptop printer is connected to printer wirelessly.  I can get on the internet as it recognized the wireless setup but it will not print anything from internet and will not print my register from Quicken.  I removed the software and reran it from the HP disk.  I received these messages:
Internal error 753.hpwySchd2.exe  and after a second try to take off software this message came up: Files\Hewlett-Packard\eSupportDiags\HPeDiag.dll failed to unregister HResult-2147220472.  I have no way to unscramble these messages.  What am I doing wrong?
Read some posts and ond said to recyle printer power.  I turned it off then back on with no change.
My desktop has the primary LINKSYS router attached and can perform all printing jobs wirelessly from printer.  Printer is Deskjt 6840c.
    thanks for any help!

OK, first, what operating system are you using?
Have you disabled your security software and re-tested?

Ive even tried opening in itunes and copying from thier but they wont open in Itunes, no message or anything they simple just dont open. its strange because it does open in quicktime player.
please if anyone has any ideas that can help me please let me know XD thanks.

First problem: You're fine. The hotter it gets, the more the fans spin up. The computer is designed so that at max load, at max fan speed, it won't overheat (unless it's obstructed by something, e.g. sitting on your bed swallowed by a comforter). It's not the best thing to keep it that toasty for days at a time, but a couple hours at a time shouldn't be a problem.
Second problem: If something in the trash won't delete, just use Secure Empty Trash and it should be fine. Since .torrent files are quite small, it should only take a couple seconds.

  • My HP dv4-2045dx won't print wirelessly with my HP Officejet 6500 E709n

My HP Pavillion laptop won't print wirelessly with my HP All In One printer.  It will print if it is hooked up, and the printer works wirelessly with my other computer.  I've uninstalled the printer and updated the drivers.  The print wizard goes through all of the steps to configure wirelessly, finds my printer, tries to connect, and fails at the last minute each time.  I believe it may have something to do with the fact that I also can't scan to my laptop.
P.S. It used to print wirelessly.  I have no idea what changed.

  • Laptop printing via wireless to HP Laserjet M1217nfw without a wireless router.

I want to print from a laptop via wireless to a HP Laserjet M1217nfw.
The location means that there is no wireless router involved.
The manual suggests that there are two possible methods if no wireless router is available.
The first one is an ad-hoc or peer-to-peer network as described on page 9 and 10 of the supplied User Guide.
I appreciate that one laptop does not make a network so I configured two laptops to connect over an ad-hoc network with all security turned off to make things as simple as possible.
Both laptops have APIPA addresses and are connected.
I then tried installing the printer via USB and also via CD and the printer cannot detect the ad-hoc network.
In the configuration page the Communication Mode is set to Infrastructure and cannot be changed.
Also there is the issue of how the printer can get an IP address as it does not seem possible to provide one for the wireless manually.
I am starting to wonder if the manual in incorrect and the ad-hoc connectivity is not available.
The second option might be to use the Direct Print Configuration although this is more for smartphones I believe. I have briefly tried this method but the supplied driver from the CD cannot detect the printer. Perhaps a special driver is needed.
Having spent a considerable time on this I am beginning to wonder should I give up and send the printer back or is it actually possible to get this to work in the manner that I need.
    Thanks for any help.

Do you have the ad-hoc network hosted by one of the computers?  It sounds like you are trying to add the printer to an ad-hoc network.
Newer printers (not certain when this changed) do not support the printer connecting to a hosted ad-hoc network on a computer.  Sorry.
However, the computers should be able to connect to the printer's ad-hoc network for printing purposes.  On the computers, there should be a network SSID that has HP in the name (possibly print, printer model, or setup).  If you connect to this network, the printer should be able to be added to the computers.  However, the computers may not communicate with each other as the printer isn't really intended to connect multiple devices to each other.
You mentioned page 9 and 10 of the manual.  I reviewed page 9 and 10 of the manual and it did not mention anything about any network settings.  This came much later in the manual I had found for the M1217nfw.  Is the manual I linked the same manual you have?

  • New Envy 5534 won't print wirelessly

I have installed a new HP Envy 5534 MFD for my parents. Works fine from workstation where it is wired in with USB2 (single page, scan, copy, duplex) however from a Asus laptop running Win8.1 it will not now print anything.
Tested fine when installed, printing a test page but today won't even do that. Have uninstalled the HP software from the laptop and downloaded and installed the latest driver package from the HP website but still no response from the printer. When trying to print a Word doc (Office 2013 Pro Plus) using the duplex feature there is a really unhelpful message that pops up:
and from the Windows print dialogue:
The printer is correctly linked into the Wi-Fi so am at a loss of what to try to resolve this. Reading the manual there is no mention of intervention necessary printing wirelessly.

You might try Restarting everything, including the Router
Leave the computer with the USB switched off till last... In fact, leave it off until you can test the wireless system setup.  Test all the way -- that includes testing a printed document, not just a test page from the printer.
It might be that the wireless radio on the printer is shutting off when you connect the USB to the other computer.
If you can get the Asus W8.1 system to print
    and then
the USB desktop will NOT print (just because the world hates you)
