AEBS and Belkin F5D8233 as Access Point

I have the latest AEBS 'N' and an 'N' Belkin wireless router. I would like to use the Belkin as an access point to my Apple network. So far, I can't seem to figure it out, and don't know if it's even possible.
Thanks,
Bryan

To configure the Belkin as a Wireless Access Point with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), you will need to connect the it to the AEBSn via an Ethernet cable.
If you desire a wireless connection between the two, then this may not be possible as very few non-AirPort routers are WDS-compatible to do so.

  • WLC 5508 and remote site (DMVPN) Access Points

    Hi All,
We just purchased a WLC 5508 and would like to know if it will control remote VPN site Access Points.  Here are the details:
The 5508 will live at our home office.  We have multiple remote sites that are connected via Cisco's DMVPN.  Each site has one Cisco 1131 Access Point hanging off of either a Cisco 1841 or a 2811 that is using DMVPN back to the home office 2811.  Can the 5508 manage the remote Access Points?
    Thanks for your help guys!

  • WPA2-EAP and WPA2-PSK supported Access Points

    Dear Team,
I have been looking to find the Cisco Access Points that support both:
WPA2-EAP: Encryption: AES, Authentication: IEEE 802.1X
WPA2-PSK: Encryption: AES, Authentication: PSK (Pre Shared Key) with more than 21 Characters, combined with MAC address filtering.
I am confused about this and need help, please advise.
    Regards,
    Farhan

Sure.  Go HERE.  Click on the APs you want and go to their individual Data Sheets.  Use Ctrl+F and enter "WPA2" (or whatever features you want).

  • Security and Management of Wireless Access Points

We have a network of eight (8) Cisco 350 Access Points.
We would like to enable security through WEP and designating specific MAC (Hardware) addresses.
Please advise as to the most efficient manner of inputting hardware addresses into all of our access points and managing many access points.

Hmmm....all these replies, with good information, and no one answered your question!
You can't cut and paste a list of MACs into a Cisco AP (how come, I don't know). What you need to do is enter one MAC address. Then download a non-default config file out of the AP. Then find the lines that changed, and you have your template for adding MAC address lists in one fell swoop. I made a little excel spreadsheet to let me paste in a list of MACs, then spit out the config file lines that you can add as an "additional configuration file" via the web gui.
You could also add the list via SNMP.
There's also an import utility in the cli for the ACS server that will let you suck in MAC addresses.
    Hope this helps.
Just remembered, the APs for some reason convert the hex format of a MAC into dotted decimal. So, when you paste your list in, you need to convert it from hex to dotted decimal, produce your config lines with those, and then shoot those config lines to the AP. I couldn't find anyone in the TAC that could explain why adding a list of MACs was such a chore.

  • Can you hard code the speed and duplex on lightweight access points

I have a client that want to set the spped and duplex on the switch port. Is there a way you can configure the fastethernet port on a lightweight access point for speed and duplex.

    Try this step
    configure terminal
    Enter global configuration mode.
    Step 2
    interface fastethernet0
    Enter configuration interface mode.
    Step 3
    speed {10 | 100 | auto}
Configure the Ethernet speed. Cisco recommends that you use auto, the default setting.
    Step 4
    duplex {auto | full | half}
Configure the duplex setting. Cisco recommends that you use auto, the default setting.
    Step 5
    end
    Return to privileged EXEC mode.
    Step 6
    show running-config
    Verify your entries.
    Step 7
    copy running-config startup-config

  • IPhone4 and Cisco Aironet 1141 access point - fail using WPAv2 Personal

I cannot get my iPhone4 (latest s/w) to connect to a Cisco Aironet 1141 access point if I specify WPAv2 Personal. It is a single access point without radius etc. I have no problems connecting using "no security", WEP or WPAv1. Is there a problem with the iPhone4 implementation of WPA2 as all my other PCs connect just fine on WPAv2?
With the Aironet 1141 I can switch security between WPAv1 & WPAv2 while keeping all other settings identical. Thus I can clearly demonstrate how the iPhone4 connects when both devices are set to WPAv1 yet will fail to connect when I switch both to WPAv2. As I have said, all other PCs I have connect via WPAv2 without any issues.

  • Configuring ssid and vlans on autonomous access point ?

here is an a demonstration of how to configure vlans and ssid on a auto-ap , what i dont understand is when i configure the ssid under (interface dot11radio0) and the vlan under that command , why do i need to configure sub-interfaces for the "fastethernet" and the "dot11radio0" if i already configured it under the "interface dot11radio0" , why do i need the "encapsulation dotq x" ? and what is bridge-group ?

If you want to use multiple SSID with multiple vlan, then you have to configure subinterfaces on Radio interfaces (in both Radio 0 & Radio 1 if you want to use both 2.4GHz & 5GHz band) & Ethernet interfaces.
AP simply bridge wireless traffic to wired interface using these sub-interfaces. To specify which radio sub-interface traffic to map to ethernet sub-interface, a Bridge-Group number (1-255) is used.
Bridge-Group 1 always used for native vlan traffic & usually used for AP management.

  • Problem with PowerBook (but NOT MacBook) and two access points on network

I recently installed a wall-plugged ethernet adapter system (Netgear XE104 and XE103) and plugged a wireless access point (Netgear WPN802) into one of the adapters (in the part of our house where we lacked a wireless signal) in order to extend the range of our (DSL) wireless network. I configured this new access point--disabled DHCP, assigned an IP address to the access point that does not fall into the wireless router's IP adress range, put the wireless router and access point on different channels (6 and 11), and made sure the router and access point had the same SSID.
I have had no problems using the resulting setup with our new MacBook--everything goes as planned. BUT I am having a terrible time with my PowerBook G4. It has a really strong signal everywhere, but when I open my browser it says that I am not connected to the internet. The problem seems to be that my PowerBook refuses to change channels once it connects to one. I installed iStumbler to see if I could manually control which access point/channel the PowerBook uses, and, while I can track the signal strengths for both access points, I can't get my PowerBook to switch from one access point to the other.
I've tried just about everything I can think of. I suppose I could try giving a different SSID to the access point (and then try to switch with the airport menu in the toolbar), but I would like to avoid this if possible.
I would really appreciate any advice you have. Thank you!

Can you connect if you temporarily turn off WEP or WPA?
This will determine if it is a WEP or WPA issue.
Does your PC support WPA, from both a hardware and a software perspective?
The problem you are having probably lies with the encryption key.

  • WRT54Gv7 and 2 Netgear Access Points WG602

    Hi,
is it possible with a WLAN Broadband Router Linksys WRT54Gv7 and with 2 Netgear Access Points WG602 configure a Multi Point Bridging?
is it right that the WRT54G version 7 can not be upgraded to a own Firmware?
does the WRT54G version 7 supporting WDS?
    thank you very much.

the router can only be configured as an access point..it cannot be configured in repeater or bridge mode...
also , i don't think that it can be upgraded to a third party firmware ..

  • Access Points and Destinations

    Hi,
I love the destinations feature of the N8, and like the idea of it switching to WLAN automatically. However, when apps (some/most) need to go online, they still bring up the list of individual accesspoints and not the destinatinos!
What's the point then, although some apps (world traveler IIRC) brings up the destinations instead of individual accesspoints. Is there anything I can do about this?

it takes a bit of getting used to moving from the access point lists to the destinations list they use now.
a couple of points i would suggest that are useful is that
1 many applications will inherit the settings specified in the browser or the 'default' setting in the destinations menu
2 you can add destinations and copy access points to them, if say you want some things to use wifi and an internet cell access point in that order, but you want something else to only only the internet cell access point you can add it to a new destination.
3 some apps that bring up the destinations list allow you to select access points from the options menu.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.

  • Need to disable AP mode multicast in 1231 series access point

    Hi
I have one controller 2504 and some 1200 series access points.I am using 3 SSID .I want to use two ssid in HREAP mode but HREAP mode is not showinh in access point because multicast is enabled on AP mode. Please see the below picture
I have disabled the multicast globally from CLI.
    config network multicast global disabled
Please help me in disabling the multicast so that i can set the access point in HREAP mode.
    Thanks ....

    Hi George
I have found a document in which it is mentioned which platform are supported..
These are the restrictions to remember while you use H-REAP.
Hybrid REAP is supported only on the 1130AG, 1140, 1240, 1250, 1260,           AP801, AP 802, 1040, and AP3550 APs and on the Cisco WiSM, Cisco 5500, 4400,           2100, 2500, Flex 7500 Series Controllers, the Catalyst 3750G Integrated           Wireless LAN Controller Switch, and the Controller Network Module for           Integrated Services Routers.
But why it is giving an remark on controller tab that multicast is not supported with HREAP on this platform ?
Is this the limitation of cisco 2504 controller or the limitation of 1231 access point ?
Does that mean i can use my SSID in HREAP mode if i am using 1231 series access point ?
    Thanks...

  • N80 access points

i checked that there were no access points defined. when i went to "net" it asked me to choose connection it came up with vodafone internet gateway. I dont know why its like that? i went to settings and there was no access points there at all.
next thing i did was use nokia settings wizard to get my vodafone access points and it created "vodafone internet gateway(1)"
in settings->access points, there is only one copy of it there.
when i go to "net" it asks for which connection i should use and i see two copies there.
    why is like this?
under settings there is only one copy but somehow the fone thinks there is 2 so it must have been setup or entered somewhere and i cant seem to find out where or what i should do about it
remember, this is from a fresh reformat of my fone.
anyone got any ideas of what i should do without having to format again? formatting again might work, but then again it might not.
maybe its stored on my sim card automatically and thats where it is?
    i just dont know

Have you sent up email retrieval to automatically download, check the email settings?
Otherwise you might have setup some SIP settings. Do you have any profiles in Tools, Settings, Connection, SIP Settings? If so and you know you are not using them, then delete them.
Another one to check, although less likely is under Tools, Settings, Connection, Packet Data and check that is set to "When needed" and "None"
(PS always usful to post your SW version so we know where you are coming from....)

  • Showing duplicate wifi access point in N82

    Hi,
i have a weird issue with my N82 wifi, hopefully i can explain it correctly..
my problem is when i connect to a new wifi, it will always shown 2 access point in the wifi list.. what's weird is that the duplicate wifi access point name is the last wifi point i connected... and if i remove one of the access point from the list, both will be gone..
    so for example in steps:
    1) i first connect to 'ABC'
    2) i remove 'ABC'
    3) i connect to 'CDE'
result is in access point list, it will show
    'ABC'
    'CDE'
if i selecet 'ABC', it's actually connects to 'CDE'.. and if i delete either one of them, both will be gone.
    4) i delete 'CDE' (both are now gone)
    5) i connect to 'CDE' again
the result is it will shown:
    'CDE'
    'CDE (1)'
again, if i delete either one of them, both will be gone.
so any idea? WIFI still works, but a bit agnoring..
    thanks in advance

If I understand the situation, with an Ethernet connection for the Airport the wifi component is free to act as an access point.  But one Airport device cannot act as a wifi receiver and as an an access point.
That is correct. A single Express in this situation would act as a Wi-Fi "receiver," but will only provide an active Ethernet connection for wired clients. You will need a second one to create the wireless network.
Again, this is because you typically won't have administrator access to the RV park's wireless router AND, most likely if you did, it wouldn't be another Apple router. The option I provided should get you around both of those facts ... and should work at other locations with the same wireless setup.

    Hi Nassem,
    It looks like you ended up with a Lightweight AP (LAP Part#) instead of an IOS AP. This can be fixed;
Reverting the Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.
Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 6 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 9 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272
    Hope this helps!

  • Blackberry Z10 connection with an Aironet Cisco Access Point 1200

    Hi everybody,
I'm trying without success a connection between a Blackberry Z10 and an Aironet Cisco Access Point 1200.
We have no BB Server, we would like just to connect the WIFI.
I've checked this points during the activation of the device:
    There's no LEAP protocolle.
    There's an EAP-Fast possibility.
    There's Mac Address recognition possibility.
When we try to use the EAP-Fast possibility, we generate a .pac file, but i don't know where i can put this file so that the Blackberry recognize this file. I've search the whole day and didn't find anything... there's simply no explanation with the Z10 around the .pac file without a BB Server.
I've try the Mac Address recognition and it simply doesn't work (no error the search time is too long)
Every other older smartphones - Blackberry (there's 4 devices) are working.
Anyone have an idea about? a suggestion? a list of compatible WIFI Devices?
    Thank you ahead.
    Have a nice day.
    Joel.

Sorry i don't understand your answer.
I'm not a developper but a system administrator.
I just would like to use a Balckberry Z10 with our Wifi/Router Aironet Access Point 1200.
    not more.
    Best regards,
    Joel
