AEBS and TC - wired connection, same wireless network

I need some advice.
I have AEBS and TC. Currently, the connection between them is "Extend wireless network". They are located on the opposite ends of my condo. I am doing some work on my unit and I have a chance to draw an ethernet cable between them. However, I'd like both of them to be the same wireless network, so that I have good coverage in and around my unit and have good speeds for accessing NAS units on the network.
Which ports would I connect with the ethernet cable and how would I configure the wireless network?
Thank you!

Main unit has eithernet cable from LAN port that connects to WAN port of second unit.
Second unit is set up in bridge mode. You should not use "WDS" or "Extend Network" These are only for wirelessly extending the network.
The second base station should be set to a "DIFFERENT" wireless channel, however the network name and security settings should be identical to the main base station.
As long as the base stations have the same network name, roaming will work between them.
Again, they need to be set to different channels so that they don't interfere with each other.

Welcome to the Apple Community Willy.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Can't connect PC and Mac to print via wireless network

I have the HP Office Jet All-In-One 6500. I've never been able to get both my Mac and PC to print wirelessly.
First, Mac worked fine wirelessly, then had to print via ethernet for PC. Then that quit working for PC. So I uninstalled printer drivers on PC, reinstalled and it works great printing via the network.
However, now my Mac -- my main computer -- wont print. It spends hours "connecting....." MacBook running Leopard OS 10.5.8.
Why can't both computers access this printer over the same wireless network? Absolutely NO settings were changed on my Mac from the time it worked, until now. Only thing I did was get the PC to work.
I've tried turning the printer off and restarting.... didn't help.
I bought this wireless printer so that both computers could use 1 printer.... I don't want to have 2 printers for my little office! Please help HP!

First, please look on the label underneath the router and let us know the exact model and hardware version of the router. Also check which firmware you are running on the router at http://192.168.1.1/ and verify that you are actually running the most current firmware. You can find out which is the newest firmware on the downloads page of the linksys website.
Second, is it possible that you used the Mac before to connect directly to the internet without the router? In that case it could well be possible that the Mac is still doing so, connecting to the internet itself, bypassing the router and thus terminating whatever internet connection the router established before (which the PCs were using).
Third, after being kicked out, please check the following in a command prompt window on the PCs ("Run..." and enter "cmd"). "ping 192.168.1.1" you should still get replies.
Fourth, what is the IP address and gateway address which the Mac gets when getting online?

  • Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

50 users per device, assuming that the "main" router is setup to deliver an adequate number of network IP addresses for all devices.
2 AEBS = 100 users, but that is really more of a theoretical max.
If you really need 100 connections, it would be much better to use 3 AEBS to spread things out.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

When I try to get my email and I am outside our wireless network I get a "lost connection to server " message

Outlook is a mail client for PCs and Macs. Who is your mail provider? If you're talking about a business mail system, it may not be accessible from outside the company network. You will need to check with your IT department.

I updated my system some days ago and, after that, I can't connect to wireless networks any more.

When I try to connect to my wireless network, I get "Veryfing AP association" message, then it fails to connect.

This particular line caught my attention: " wlan0: de-authenticating from 00:1c:10:57:47:17 by local choice (reason=3)". So I searched for it (without the MAC address) on the internet and found several solutions for it, involving wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd, IPv6 (disable it on /etc/sysctl.d/40-ipv6.conf) and card power management (operation not supported, don't have option on BIOS), but none of them worked for me.

  • Multiple devices can't connect to wireless network

I currently have a WRT54G v5 router hooked up to a comcast cable modem and a dell desktop computer.  I'm able to get onto the internet fine through the wired desktop and through one wireless device. The problem happens when I try to use another laptop on the same wireless network. Everyone get's kicked off. Can anyone help me with this or help me find a solution on the website? I'm about to pull my hair out trying to figure it out!
    Thanks in advance!!

ON both your Win 7 computers, disable IPv6 under LAN properties for both the wired and wireless adapters.  Reboot computers and connect again and test.

  • Brand new macbook pro cannot connect to wireless networks

The first time I called apple tech, they thought it was a problem with my internet provider. I've called 4 times now, and I'm still getting the runaround.
I have an old (2001) G4 sitting right next to my macbook pro which can see numerous wireless networks and connect to them all. A strong connection at that. However, my brand new (refurbished) Macbook Pro Intel etc,.... supposedly best computer ever made, . . . . can see the same wireless networks but has never been able to connect. As a student, I saved for a year to buy this notebook so I could work at cafe's & study with my friends. My friends with PC's can all connect to these wireless networks. My friends with older, less expensive notebooks can connect no problem. I have never been able to connect. Bought this peice of junk 2 1/2 months ago - only because I didn't want to be stuck at home anymore with my desktop. Stupid me to trust apple.
I wish I could get my $ back, but I'm now being told that it's 30 days too late. Before they told me it was a minor thing and some software update could fix it. I did as told. downloaded and installed their 10.4.8 thingy - deleted all the keychain stuff - nothing. same peice of junk.
Now they are telling me to go back to the genius bar where folks are just rude to me and tell me they can't help me becuase I bought a "refurbished" model that didn't even save me $25. What do you know.
Anyone having problems like this? Anyone out there who can help me?

    Okay,
I apologie for calling it a peice of junk. I know you all probably worship this machine. I'm just really frustrated. I noticed that this is a very common problem - though most of the posts identical to mine have dissapeared from apple.com - this well known defect is all over other discussion boards and websites like macdefect, etc,....
So, can any of you tech gods help me with this very well known, common problem that I haven't been able to fix with 10.4.8 upgrade?
Thanks for your time and assistance,
    -mcgrafx

How do I share files between computers (mac's) on the same wireless network?

Turn on File Sharing in System Preferences - Sharing, then you should be able to see them in the other Macs' Finder sidebars (under Shared). Click on them, click Connect As, and log in with the user credentials you're sharing from.

  • Two Issues: Cannot connect to wireless networks; Cannot load certain sites

    Hey everybody,
    I have a MacBook Pro 15".
In just the past week, I've stumbled upon two sudden problems with my network/internet connectivity.
First, I can no longer connect to wireless networks, be it an infrastructure point or computer-to-computer ad-hoc networks. I'm not really sure why. I installed the latest AirPort Update (4.2.3, according to System Profiler). I also recently installed both iStumbler and KisMac v.21. When I started having issues, I thought that maybe one of these two programs might be the culprit, so I uninstalled both of them but I still have the same problem.
Second, I've had issues with not being able to connect to certain websites. I use both Safari and BonEcho as my browsers. The specific sites seem random:
    www.weffriddles.com
    www.macrumors.com
    images.google.com
    sports.yahoo.com
    finance.yahoo.com
    to list a few.
If you need any diagnostic information, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can provide!
    Tommy H.

If you are trying to connect to a third-party router using WPA or WEP, there is a good chance that your Airport card was broken by Apple's 2007-02 Airport Update. There is no fix, and for many of us, our Macbooks and Macbook Pros are useless for wireless connections until Apple fixes the issue. At this point, Apple seems to be denying that there even is an issue, so we may all be in for a long wait indeed.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A A910a can't automatically connect to wireless network

        Product Name and Number
         HP Officejet Pro 8500A A910a
         Netgear DGN2200 Wireless Router
    Operating System
        Windows 7 32-bit
I experience frequent power outs and whenever power is restored I have to reconnect the printer through WPS. I have followed all the instructsons here to connect automatically and I have added the wireless network details in the printers embedded server but still no luck. Anything else I can do?
Alternatively I was thinking of connecting the printer to the router via ethernet. But how then do I get my wireless laptops to communicate with the printer to print and scan?

    HI,
Not sure if this is fixable after an power outtage, but connecting the printer via ethernet to the router keeps printing and scanning over the network the same, as long as your wireless laptops are in the same network. After connecting the printer just reinstall the drivers on your laptop so that it gets the correct ip adres and everything should be fine.

  • Connecting to Wireless Network at Hotel

I am staying at a Hampton Inn (Hilton hotel chain) and can't get my MacBook to work on the wireless network they have here.
The hotel instructions to access the wireless are:
    1. Configure your wireless network card as needed. Make sure that data encryption (WEP) is disabled.
    2. Select or enter SSID "hhonors".
    3. Launch your web browser.
    4. Enter the access code provided to you at the front desk and accept the terms of use to start browsing the internet.
Based on the instructions the hotel gave me, I turned on the computer and opened a browser window using Safari, but instead of bringing up a webpage to enter in an access code, I just got a message that I was not connected to the internet. I then opened a browser window using Firefox and got the same message. When I used the connection diagnostic, I go throught the steps, and it shows the hhonors wireless network, but when I choose, it asks for a WEP key. I even tried entering the access code as the WEP key, which, of course, didn't work.
I can see the hhonors wireless network when I click on the AirPort, but when I select it from there I get a message that says "The selected network uses an Access Control List to restrict access and this computer is not on the list".
The hotel has indicated they have not had anyone else having problems (and a couple folks in the lobby are on the same wireless system). I'm at this hotel for a number of days, and while they supplied me with a cable to connect through the ethernet port, I would really prefer to use the wireless (especially as the cable is very short and I am basically having to huddle in the corner on a chair). I know my AirPort works as I use wireless at home, and just left a friend's home where I used their wireless with no problem.
Do I need to manually change the settings on my AirPort, and if so, how should it be set up?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi CrysMM: I believe Craig in the previous response is correct. I have stayed at a Hilton recently and I believe I had to first select the wireless network as per Craig's instructions. Only then could I open a Web Browser an input the access code in a web page from Hilton. I hope that makes sense, if so Happy surfing.

  • CP1525NW connected to wireless network. Running W7 64 bit. Printer shows offline constantly.

I have a desktop and laptop configured with W7 64 bit. On laptop printer works fine, on desktop printer shows offline constantly and the only way to get it running again is by uninstalling the software and reinstalling. I have gone online and downloaded the drivers for 64 bit but I keep getting messages indicating the HP (xxxxx) program 32 bit has stopped working. Not getting this on laptop. They are connected to the same wireless network. Help? - Thanks

Let's try to get the printer back to 192.168.0.103.
Browse to the printer's web page again.
    Select Networking, then Wireless.
    Select IPv4 Configuration.
    Select Manual IP Address
Enter 192.168.0.103 for the Manual IP Address
Enter 255.255.255.0 for the Subnet Mask
    Enter 192.168.0.1 for the Gateway
    Press Apply.
Now turn off your computer and printer.
Turn on the printer and wait a minute. Print the network configuration page and verify that the IP address show is 192.168.0.103
Turn on the computer. Verify that you can browse to the printer's web page and that you can surf the internet.
    Try printing
BTW -- what model wireless-router do you have?
