AEBS fails to restart after having been configured

I want to use Airtunes and have successfully done for months. But my AEBS is now becoming highly erratic.
After hard reset, my AEBS can been seen by my MacBook. I can set it up fine using Airport Utility, apparently. Set it up by 'Joining another network', giving it a name etc, confirming the wish to play iTunes through it, etc. All goes fine. Once the set up is done, Airport Utility says something like 'AEBS set up is now complete. You can now close Airport Utility while the base stations restarts'; but the base station does not restart - "unknown error".
Having been able to see the base station, it suddenly then 'disappears' - neither Airport Utility nor iTunes can see it.
I have been through this loop so many times, each time hopeful because the computer can clearly see the base station, read its setting and apparently reconfigure them, but at the last step it fails.
Any ideas? Time for a new Base Station?

Same problem here. Was quite surprised that this has slipped through apple for so long.
Just picked up a macbook pro 17, had to do two things to make this work with 10.6.6...
1) Click on keychain_access -> System (keychain) -> IPSec Shared Secret
Click on "Access Control" tab button
select radio button: Allow all applications to access this item
2) sudo launchctl stop com.apple.racoon
sudo launchctl start com.apple.racoon
Reconnecting then worked.
IMPORTANT: I noticed that it is still flaky making connections.
It seems that doing a stop/start on racoon fixes the problem.
(I'm not convinced on the causality with this; would prefer apple folks to offer up a real solution.)
Yes.. I don't like the "allow all apps access" solution either.
Fwiw, I tried the "allow all apps access" first, which cleared out the blessed apps list. Ugh.
I suppose removing/adding the vpn again would get the list back, then configd (?) could be added.

My macbook pro was recently returned to me after having been lost. When I turned it on and connected to the internet at home, the activation lock activated. I put my password in and the macbook went to a white apple screen and now won't do anything else. How do I get it running again?

Take it to an Apple Store. Take proof of purchase with you.

Did you purchase the Mac new?
You have 14 calendar days from the time your items are delivered to initiate a return as noted here.
Even though you are past the 14 day limit, if it were me, I'd take the Mac back and explain what's going on. Your Mac should work out of the box.

  • Iphone 4s fails to restart after installing ios 5.1 & then restoring from backup ?

I have restored My Iphone 4s to Os 5.1 Yesterday ... every thing went fine ..... at the time of restoring it from my previous backup ........ iphone fails to restart ..... it is in continous loop of apple logo and busy icon thereafter .. can anybody help ????

In that case, if everything else has failed, you can restore your iPhone by putting it in to DFU mode.
    Follow the steps precisely.
    1) Connect your phone to computer. Open iTunes (if it doesn't open automatically).
    2) Turn your phone off. Turn off the device by holding down the sleep/power button in the top right corner and Home button at the same time. A red slider will appear. Slide it to the right to turn off the device. Alternatively, keep holding both buttons even after the slider appears and the device will turn off. Let go of the buttons when the device powers down.
    3) Put iPhone into DFU mode. Hold down both the top (sleep/wake) and home buttons for exactly 10 seconds, then release the top (sleep/wake) button but keep holding the home button until iTunes displays a message stating that a phone in recovery mode has been discovered. Let go of the Home button.
    4) Device screen is Black. If your device's screen is black, you are in DFU Mode. It may appear that the device is turned off, but it's not. If your phone displays anything, you are not in DFU mode.
    5) Restore. Press the restore button and allow the phone to complete the restoration data. After it is done, select setup as a new phone. (Preferable)
Restore your backup (optional). Next, you can restore the phone again in the normal fashion (not DFU mode) using the most recent backup rather than setting up as a new phone. However, this may cause the original problem to return in some cases. If the problem returns, follow steps 1-5 again and setup as new. Do not restore from your backup afterwards.

I having been using iphone 4s apps for days and suddenly 3-4 on a given page will quit responding. The apps on other pages continue working fine. I am unable to open these even if I shut them down and reopen them or reboot my iphone. I have had to remove and reinstall some in the past. Any other solutions?

  • Windows failed to restart after auto update

Hi I have a dual boot machine with Windows 8.1 & Windows XP. The Windows 8.1 OS was itself an upgrade of Windows 8.0 . Everything was working well till last week.
Last weekend 14th Feb, Windows 8.1 wanted to install some updates while shutting down. It installed about 14 updates and shut down promising to restart soon. After restarting, Windows 8.1 never booted. I waited for around 20 minutes and them manually restarted
the machine. This time I selected Windows  XP. Windows XP started, but in the process fixed something on the file structure by running chkdisk, while starting.
Later a friend told me that he'd similar issues of his computer not starting after the patch for a long time. But ultimately it did after about half an hour. I tried to boot Windows 8.1 again, leaving it no for an hour. But it was a vain effort.
I tried to repair my machine by booting with the Windows 8.0 setup disk. But this also failed saying some partitions are locked.
Can you please tell me what are the options available to me to revive my machine.

Here is the forum for you.

  • VCenter 6 fails to restart after IP change

I changed the vCenter 6 IP from within web client.
Since I had problems connecting to the new IP, I restarted the server via vSphere Client directly on the host using VMware Tools.
After the restart, I can't connect to vCenter any more. Trying to connect via https shows me the following error:
503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x7f4158068bf0] _serverNamespace = / _isRedirect = false _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)
Then I directly used the console, enabled ssh and bash and logged in there.
I tried to check the current IP settings via the script used in version 5.5 which still exists (/opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net) but fails with multiple errors.
Then, I tried to reset the certificates via certificate manager (/usr/lib/vmware-vmca/bin/certificate-manager), but I could not login via SSO (seems that SSO service could also not be started).
Then, I had a look in the log files, and noticed a problem with vmware-vpxd:
VC SSL certificate does not exist, it will be generated by vpxd
This did not help either. I tried to manually start the service, with the same result.
How can I fix my vCenter?

I was able to start vmware-vxpd from the CLI but still no luck

  • My IPAD2 is failing to restart after 10 seconds

What happened : after full recharge following a full discharge, IPAD cannot restart, reboots after 10 seconds on and on and on
I have rebooted it once using advice taken here, and was able to restore on itumes , but then got worse with reboot after 10 seconds
I had noticed this a few days before where after full discharge, it had needed long time before stabilizing, with reboot period
I s it because of battery or because of OS?
I am desperate, one month since I bought it!
    Thnks for help

If you have restored it - as a brand new device - and the problem continues - take to an Apple Store and let them look at it. Or call Apple. You get 90 days of free phone support as well and you are well within that time frame.
Let them sort it out for you.

    Hello,
If just hat my N96 software updated and now he resist to restart, he doesn't give any signal at all just "Phone start-up failed.Contact the retailer". What's wrong with it? My N96 has never worked properly, my N95 was better but also not that good as I asspected.

    Hi troy1011
It might be worth looking at Paragraph 45 in FAQ for Nokia Software Updater here for using "Three finger reset" although it may be worth leaving battery out for 10 minutes first:http://europe.nokia.com/A4577229#faq45
Failing that it's a trip to a Nokia Care Point unfortunately.

  • Mac Mini fails to restart after 10.4.5 update!

    Hi,
Updated my Mac Mini to 10.4.5 this morning and restarted... now I'm getting the grey "panic" screen telling me I need to restart my computer. This can either happen virtually instantly or, as on a couple of occasions, when the OS X startup screen appears. Haven't tried anything else yet, but has anyone got any ideas before I start re-installing etc.?
    Thanks in advance,
    JF
Mac Mini 1.42 GHz Superdrive     OS X 10.4.5 - nearly

OK... a bit further into the problem... booted to the DVD, the disk did need both a Repair and Permissions Repair.
At this point I re-verified everything, half way through the permissions verification, the same thing happened - now this is starting to point to a hardware issue.
So far I've had more luck, getting right into a full re-boot before the same thing happens.
At the moment I've started creating a disk image to an external firewire drive to make sure I can save everything, but I'm not even sure it'll finish that!!!
No problems whatsoever before the 10.4.5 update.
    Any further ideas??
Is it possible that there's been a Bluetooth firmware update that may have snarled things up?
    Thanks
    JF

  • Wont turn on after having been opened. Getting 3 Chimes

    Hi there.
I just bought a Mac Mini - 1.25ghz - 512/40gb for $100... which I thought was insanely cheap. Anyway, all was good until I decided to open her up to replacethe hard drive with a bigger one. Well, after getting all the way down to having the drive removed, I realised that the replacement I had wasnt compatible (stupid of me to have not checked earlier i know!!)
Anyway, I put everything back together and struggle a little getting the lid back on... but did so eventually.
Now, when I switch it on i get 3 chimes (different to the start up chime) and the power light blinks a few times. And that's it. It wont start.
I reopened and tried re-seating the ram chip, but that didnt help.
    Any suggstions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    suggestions based on pc:
    most important... dont panic
    1. don't cover the case yet, not until you get the system running
    2. try to recheck all the removable parts you have removed and put them back in place...
    try to reset pram
try to boot from your osX cd and do a hardware test

  • IMac (G1 Intel) won't start after having been shut down (for extended time)

I haven't been using 1st generation Intel iMac for about a year and after reconnecting it now it simply won't start. I have tried resetting SMC, no help. Also tried another outlet. The fans are not spinning up, nothing on the screen, no startup chime. It worked perfectly before I shut it down last tiime.
Any ideas what might be wrong, what to troubleshoot/fix?

Have you ever changed the PRAM battery - they run flat after a few years? Not sure if it would prevent booting if it were flat, but possibly.
Try leaving the Mac plugged in to a power socket for a few hours (if you haven't already) and then try again. If it does boot (bit of a long shot) get a new PRAM battery.
