AEBSn not seeing disk???

Hello im running the AESBn and have an external Iomega 250HD connected via USB into the router. The Mac however does not see the disk on my desktop any ideas where to start. it did work when i first got the router and it mounted fine, ive did the updates for the router too. so everything is up to date. everything else is fine apart from my external HD
Regards
Stu
Does this have anything to do with why i cant see my PC on the network too???

Hello duane the disk is formatted for the mac
straight outta the box. Its the Iomega they produced
for the mac mini specifically. As i said it was
working fine before the updates etc for the firmware
and i cant connect to my windows network neither!
Is the disk recognized when connected directly to your mini USB port?

  • E450 disk installation - format does not see disk

We have an E450 with three disk controllers.
One with four drives and two RAID controllers with eight drives. Both RAID controllers are RAID5.
The four drive controller has two 9GB drives.
One RAID controller has eight 9GB drives.
The other RAID controller has eight 18GB drives.
We have three failed 18GB drives and are trying to install new drives, but the system does not see them.
We cannot get the system to recognize the new 18GB drives, even when we put them into the two open slots on the four-drive controller.
Probe-SCSI sees the new drives, but format does not.

    Hi cnhllc..
I was wondering what steps you took to resolve this issue?
We put in 8 hard disks and the Solaris OS (format command) recognizes only 6 hard disks. All 8 hard disks are seen when we issue probe-scsi-all, but only 6 are seen using format command. We are running Veritas VM & Cluster Server 3.5.
Any advice will be greatly greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Finder Not seeing Disk

This problem began when I discovered that I couldn't repair permissions on my girlfriend's relatively new Mac Pro. After calling Apple the suggestion was that I do an Install and Archive of Leopard.
That fixed that issue but and ongoing problem remained with a new twist.
There's an internal hard drive that has many important images on it that stopped appearing in Finder at some point. We can see it if we open Photoshop, open the Open dialog box, and switch to the Adobe Dialog (this is an option on her version of PS 10.0 but not mine, 10.0.1).
So one problem is that this disk does not appear in the standard OS Finder. It is visible on the desktop and in the Disk Utility list. The other is that there are many image files that have permission errors. When we copy them to the boot drive they have normal thumbnails and open properly. But, when we point Bridge to them where there are in this disk they have generic icons and PS can't open them because of parsing errors.
Does any of this make sense to anyone?
I've tried using Techtools Pro to repair the disk to no avail.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    What drive? make/model/size etc
Normally an unformatted drive will cause a dialogue on startup (eject, ignore, initialize)
    Moving isn't going to help.
Look inside to see the drive will slide in and you don't have any issue.
    Then run Apple Hardware Test
More likely if anything is drive is DOA; logicboard; 'foreign' format that DU can't mount.
Putting in a FW case might be handy.

  • Boot-archive problem - failsafe kernel does NOT see disks!

Is there a way to fix the boot archive in 'normal' mode? I can see the disk in 'normal' mode, but not in 'failsafe'.

Thanks. I had actually tried that with the boot mode set at UEFI and it didn't work, but I gave it another try set at legacy and it works fine.
The documentation for this seems confusing to me, though. Isn't this RAID card considered a mezzanine card? The documentation here says to enable the onboard controller to get a mezzanine card to work:

  • C200 M2 LFF does not see disks in boot menu after ESXi installation

So in front of me I have a brand new C200 M2 LFF with a single E5606 processor, 20 GB of RAM and an LSI Megaraid 9260-4i controller and 4 1-TB SAS disks. I've put the disks in a RAID 5 array I've created a 10 GB virtual disk and successfully installed ESXi on it twice, with a second virtual disk to be used as a datastore.
However, I can't get the thing to boot. It's not even an option. The only storage option in the boot menu is the DVD drive. If I look at the mass stroage controller configuration, in fact, SATA ports 0 through 4 are "not installed" and port 5 has the DVD drive.
I've tried fiddling with the BIOS settings without any luck.Currently the onboard controller is enabled and the SATA mode is set to enhanced (which seems to be the default and what is recommended with the Megaraid cards). This was a bundle (UCSC-DBUN-C200-102 per the packing slip, which seems to be a disti-only part number), so I didn't have to assemble anything and I would assume all the cables were connected in the factory. I've opened up the server, and as far as I can tell all the cables look connected.
Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I have to open a case with the TAC, that's fine, but considering that I can actually install the operating system it has to be something stupid I'm missing.

Thanks. I had actually tried that with the boot mode set at UEFI and it didn't work, but I gave it another try set at legacy and it works fine.

  • Can not see wireless TM in disk utility or desktop.

Am I running a TM Airport (router) it runs great, I love everything about it and the backups have no issues.
But I wanted to partition my 500mb drive on my TM yet for some reason I can not see the drive either on my desktop or in disk utility. Is there some setting I need to change somewhere else to be able to view this wireless drive and configure it? I looked via Airport Utility and the only option there is to archive or erase it, at least that can see it.
When the backup starts I do see a mounted drive show up.
    Any ideas?

It does not show up because when I am not backing up, it gets disconnected...

  • Imac will not see my hard drive on start up, wants to start from network start up disk that does not exist. How to get rid of it? So there is just one choice / my hard drive.

I have a Intel duo Imac. Everything has been running relatively smoothly for a few years now. All of a sudden my computer will not start. I get the flashing folder with a question mark.
When I go to Start up disk in my system perfernces while the computer is on. I see 2 possible choices. One is my hard drive with the operating system shown. The other is a non-existant Network Start up disk with a question mark in it ( looks like a hard drive with a question mark and it say's its a "network start up disk).
All I think I want to do is get rid of the Network startup with the question mark. I can not find anywhere how one can just remove an old or non existant start up disk without reformatting.
I believe this came from a clients hard drive who had a network system on it. We no longer have that drive. It no longer exists. But a latent icon shows up in start up disk.
When I go to change the start up disk. I can change it to either the hard drive or the network with the question mark. But when I select my hard drive and then got to restart the computer. I get the flashing folder with a question mark on start up. I have also seen the flashing globe a couple times.
When I attempt to run disk utility from may install disk ( holding down "C" on start-up ). Disk utility does not see my hard drive. Just the Apple install disk with the disk utility on it.
What can I do to remedy this short of re-installing? Will a program like Disk Warrior or Tech Tool help?

Thank you. That's what I thought will need to happen.
One more question. I tried using the Apple install disk that came with the computer. It's an OS 10.5.6 disk. It does not see my 10.6.8 system internal hard drive to repair. All it see's is itself 10.5.6 disk. Do you think I can use a 10.8+ disk utillity since that is a higher system it will see the 10.6.8. Where the 10.5.6 does not?
I don't want to turn the computer off for fear I'll get the question mark again. P-Ram got me going last time but for how long I don't know?  It would be nice to be able to turn the computer off for the night and startup as usual to give it a rest and try to reset itself.
Thanks for your help, I know I will eventually need to re-install. But I am in the middle of a project with tight deadlines and all I can do right now is back-up. Trying to migrate to another computer temporarily to finish the job. That's a lot of extra work in the short time also.
Just trying to put a band-aid on it for another couple weeks.

  • Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air. In bootcamp i allocate the partition then i click install and bootcamp will not see the disk.

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (on my MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air via remote disk. In bootcamp (on my air) i allocate the partition, then i click install, and bootcamp will not see the disk from my macbook pro's drive. How do i get the bootcamp assistant running on my MB air to automatically find the disk in my macbook pro with the ISO image of windows 7? The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter
and uncheck the box labeled Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible, if it's checked.
If the drive has more than one interface (USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, eSATA), try one of the other interfaces.
Check that the data cable is securely inserted at both ends.
    Try a different cable.
If you're connecting the drive through a hub, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac.
If you're connecting it directly, try a different port.
Disconnect all other devices on the bus, or as many as possible.
Test the drive with another Mac. Test another drive with this Mac.
If the drive is bus-powered, but has an AC adapter, connect the adapter.
Start up in Recovery mode and launch Disk Utility. Is the drive recognized?
Start up in Safe Mode and test.
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If the drive doesn't work under any of the above conditions, and if another drive does work with the same Mac, then the drive is malfunctioning.

Are there anyone who encountered creating a database using DBCA with ASM as file system?
Our issue before is in both nodes the DBCA did not see the ASM disk group.
But after setting the TNS_ADMIN in both nodes and running the DBCA as administrator in Node 1, the DBCA able to see now the ASM disk group. Unfortunately, in Node 2 it didn't work out?
So we didn't know why is it from Node 2, the DBCA still didn't see the ASM disk group?Since it is both the same.
    Any ideas? Please advise.

  • SQL server 2012 does not see local disks other than C being started under domain account (which is local admin on the server)

Hi all. We have a SQL Server 2012 installed to a fresh Windows Server 2012 Server. There is a service account domain\rusystem01 created to run SQL services. It is added as a Local administrator on this server.
The issue is that SQL Server does not see any local drives (other than C drive) on the server if we run it from this domain service account (for example, we cannot move any databases to any other drives or setup backup).
It works fine (and other drives ARE available) if SQL Services are started from Network service account or Local service account (which is not recommended by Microsoft). But does not work from domain account.
Any ideas how to fix this?

    >Any ideas how to fix this?
Apply NTFS ACLs for the folders (and perhaps volumes*) for SQL Server.  Use the Per-Service SID, rather than the Service Account for the ACLs so they survive changing the service account.
The per-service SID is "NT Service\MSSQLSERVER" for a default instance and "NT Service\MSSQL$InstanceName" for a named instance.
*Volume ACLs are set in Disk Management.

David, would you please clarify what do you propose? I open D: volume on the Disk management and grant NT Service\MSSQL$DEV account with Full control permissions. Restarted SQL - no effect. Still only C: is visible for SQL.

  • Startup disk does not see windows

using bootcamp i have created a partition in which i have installed windows. my problem is this: if i go in "startup disk" i cannot chose to restart in windows because startup disk does not show the disk of windows, but only:
    - mac osx
    -network startup.
to start with windows i have to shut down my imac and restart pressing "alt".
please, somebody can tell what i have to do to see the disk "BOOTCAMP-WINDOWS" in startup disk?
    thanks

Yeah me too and one of the problems using it with bootcamp is that macosx will not see the startup disc and will say that it's corrupted, etc since unlike Vista which is supported it creates 2 partitions during setup which I'm guessing is confusing macosx.
So even though it seems to work okay enough I have to hit the alt key each time to boot into it and wait for next version of bootcamp which is supposed to support Win7.

  • Disk Utility not seeing new hdd; how do I fix this?

MacBook Pro Model A1278 (EMC 2326*) 2010. The old hard drive failed so I purchased a WD SATA  500GB. Model is WDBMYH5000. Im using a install DVD of Lion to try to format the new HD.Disk Utility or the OS X installer will not see the HD. I have searched several threads but have not been able to locate a definite answer. I have made sure to install properly.  Also found a thread that referred to clearing the NVRAM and firmware. No luck with that either. Is there a way to format through terminal? Do I need to do something with the jumpers perhaps?

If you toggle Airplane mode On/Off, does it resolve?

  • Dbca is not seeing ASM disks

I am installing standalone Oracle Enterprise edition (11.2.0.1) database on OEL 6 (ed Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.4) with 2.6.39-400.24.1.el6uek.x86_64 kernel on vmware workstation 9.0.2.
I installed grid infrastructure fine and was able to setup the asm instance. I have set up two asm disk groups with a member each.
I installed rdbms home in separate home and now I am trying to create database with dbca and it is not seeing the ASM instance.

Umm - not really - you are still using an uncertified combination of database and OS software - just because you managed to install the software does not mean it will work as advertised. As noted, you will have to use 11.2.0.3, or downgrade to OEL 5.x to use a certified combination
