AEBSn USB Printer Port Share X-Platform for EPSON RX680

Here on the Apple Discussion are any of you aware of any reason why this model (Stylus Photo RX680) will not work on BOTH a Mac mini with OS X 10.5 AND a Dell PC with Windows XP Home via an AirPort Extreme Base Station N using the USB Port as a print server? I realize the AEBSn is not EPSON's product and I will be asking them the same question, but I would like any perspective here as well if there is anything pertaining to drivers or the printer equipment itself. [The printer (An All-In-One) dates back to being purchased at the same time as other Apple equipment, but the head honcho insists on using the Dell as her primary computer while staff (me) uses the Mac and she has a user partition on it as well.] BTW - if we got the printer portion working does that mean we might not get the scanner to work too in this set-up? (Right now it is only by direct connections to either computer). Thank You.

No help either, except to tell you mine doesn't work either. I have tried everything and the RX680 will not print from an airport extreme or timecapsule. Epson support was no help.

  • Will the print n share pro app for i pad printer work

WIl the Print n share pro app for i pad printer work?

    Jspence706-
I have the non-pro version of Print n Share.  It works OK as long as I use the built-in programs for text, web browsing, mail and photo.  However, it can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
I'm printing to a networked HP LaserPrinter using the PS (Postscript) setup.
Another alternative is to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  There are programs like Printopia and FingerPrint that can do that, and are reported to work well.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.

  • Can I convert a USB printer, Canon IP3000 to AirPrint for the Ipad

Can I convert a USB printer, namely a Canon Pixma IP3000 to an Ipad? This printer has pict bridge but not air print. Are there adapters available to purchase to make this happen.

The only printing the iPad supports is wireless printing. You could look into connecting that printer to a router and see if there's some support (I've never tried it but you could look into an airport express and see if it might work)

  • How to remove old USB printer drivers and ports from Windows XP and Windows 7

We have several instances of HP 4250 Printers connected as local USB printers. When trying to replace this model with a HP P4015n or HP 600 M602n the new models will appear to install but won't print. No error messages but sometimes they try to install with ieee 1284.4 support which would seem to be a parallel port type. We're trying to use the HP UPD PCL 5.  I'm looking for a way to completely remove the old printer instances, drivers and ports. While the printer icons and drivers seem to be able to be deleted the USB printer ports can't be deleted. Then when I go back and try to install the new model printer it can only use he existing USB port. Again, when that happens the new printer won't print. So I'm trying to get a completely fresh start with the XP SP 3 and Win 7 OS before installing the newer models. I've tried several methods to clean the USB printers but the instructions are never detailed and most times something is missing and the OS needs to be reloaded. I thought that I would see if someone who knows HP USB printers has any ideas...

These seem to be a commercial products. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • How do I remove USB virtual printer port

Im having some problems printing (see different thread) so I have removed all reference to the printers and drivers (nothing in devices and printers; nothing in print management), Ive removed all USB devices (except the mouse) switched off and removed the
battery for 60 minutes. The restarted.
    Still 3 USB ports
    Ive tried
http://www.ehow.com/how_6688235_delete-usb-virtual-printer-port.html  but I cant see the virtual USB ports in device manager
http://www.ehow.com/how_6910965_delete-usb-printer-port.html  But I cant (unsurprisingly) find the ports in installed programs
http://www.ehow.com/how_5869559_remove-usb-printer-port.htmll  (delete form devices and printers) But when I highlight the port from printer properties and click delete I get "selected port cannot be deleted. The request is not supported
Makes me think these are not properly installed ports.
Ive searched the registry for USB001 and there are 4 USB00? entries all under unknown printer with headings like 6&30e6e7fe&0&USB003. So I tried to deleted all of them. It lest me delete the parameter sub key but I am not allowed to delete the other
    keys (error while deleting key)
So after a bit of a search I came up with psexec (see link for more details and do take backups and read the instructions)
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/56fed319-a532-46a4-a384-fd795998c4a3/regedit-permissions-access-denied-or-error-while-deleting-key-even-as-admin?forum=w7itproinstall
And that allowed me to get rid of the ports from the registry but they were still visible in Devices adn printers under ports (after slecting a device)
So how do I get rid of these wretched ports?
    TFAI

    Hi,
Yes, you could create a new port for other printer. Of course, you also assign it to a different print if you don't use this printer.
    The detailed steps are below:
    1. Click the START button, click navigate to "Control Panel", then navigate to and click on "Printers."
    2. Once the printers window is open, click on "Add a printer" in the dark blue menu bar.
    3. At the "Choose a printer port" section click on the "Create a new port" radio button then select "Standard TCP/IP Port" for the "Type of port."
    4. At the "Type a printer hostname or IP Address" section select "TCP/IP Device" for "Device type" and input the proper hostname depending on the printer that you are installing, the IPs for all of the different departmental printers can be gotten from the
main printer help page on this website.
    5. At the "Type a printer name" section type in what you would like to call the printer under the "Printer name" section, this is entirely up to you. Here you also want to make sure that the driver that it says it will install corresponds with the model
    of printer you are installing.
    6. After the installation you should get a section called "You've successfully added [printername]." Here you should click the "Print a test page" button to make sure everything is installed correctly.

  • Trying to add usb printer to my airport express.

trying to add usb priinter to my airport express.  Using airport utility on my iphone and it only list add wps printer.  I see no add USB printer in utility.

    Brad0416-
Search the iTunes App store to see if there is a free Brother printing App.  Other Apps like Print n Share will work for non-AirPrint printers, but are not as convenient as using AirPrint.  They generally require you to use their own text, mail, browser and photo programs, and do not work from within other iOS Apps.  One exception is that some Apps have an "Open In" option, that allows you to open a document in the printing App and then print it.
Another alternative is to use one of the computers to share its printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Printopia on the Macintosh is one program that can do that.  For a free solution, search the web for AirPrint Activator.  There are versions for both PC and Mac computers.  Of course the computer has to be turned on and awake anytime you want to print!

  • Can you help with wireless usb printing?

I have a D-Link router ([DI-824VUP) that works fine as far as geting online and printing to an ethernet printer,(HP1300n) wirelessly. I recently bought this router because it has a usb printer port, yet I can not get it to see the usb printer (Canon S830D). D-Link was no help, as they don't support Apple wireless printing, even though they do support wired printing via their router. QUESTION-any idea how to get powerbook to see the printer when connected to the router? Printer setup utility does not see it, only the HP. Thanks-bobbabe

Because this forum software is so absolutely USELESS now, you don't get to see the whole of the question in this view. In the other (non-list) view it says:
"can you help with a technical problem with the stereo imagery option ? it won't take out lead vocal in a stereo mp3"
And the answer is that if you can't isolate the vocal in the stereo field, or it is one of these odd ones where it's used inverted polarity in different parts of the stereo signal for the same vocal, then you won't be able to. But without a sample, it's impossible to tell. If you can post a link to one, that might help. It has to be external to this site though - Adobe in their infinite wisdom don't allow the posting of audio files on their audio U2U forum. Helpful, that, isn't it?

  • Can I connect a USB 2 sound card to a Macbook equipped only with USB 3 ports?

    Hello,
I just learned I might have to purchase a new Macbook because my USB ports are fried and I was looking at purchasing a refurbished Macbook pro from 2012:
    http://store.apple.com/ca/product/FD101LL/A/refurbished-133-inch-macBook-pro-25g hz-dual-core-intel-i5
the only trouble is I make music with a MOTU Audio Express sound card, and it only has a USB 2 port and a bus-powered Firewire (which I don't like using since it hasn't been too reliable in the past).
    http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/audio-express/summary.html
Unfortunately, it seems that the Macbook I'm looking into purchasing only has USB 3 ports, and I looked for info on USB 3->USB 2 adapters online and this simply doesn't seem to exist. The only info I managed to find on this subject was this little bit on the Apple website:
Can a USB 2 cable be used to connect a USB 3 device to my computer?
If the device end of the cable fits into the connector on the device, yes. However, because it has fewer wires, you won't get USB 3 speed and power may be limited to 500 mA.
does this mean that I can connect a USB 2 cable from the USB 2 port of the MOTU sound card to the USB 3 port on the Macbook? I'm OK with the power and the speed being limited to USB 2 power, I just want to make sure I can actually use my sound card with this new Macbook.
    Thanks!

I think I'm understanding this a bit more now.
Here is the cable that I use:
    http://www.amazon.ca/USB-Cable-Type-Male-Black/dp/B00183I7EE
The Type A part is the one that I'm currently putting into the Macbook and the Type B part goes in the sound card.
Would this work with a USB 3.0 port on the Macbook?
Thanks for your time and patience...

  • Using USB Printer on Beige G3 with Localtalk/Serial Port - How?

I have an Epson Stylus 740 which has both DIN 8/Serial port and USB connections, but the serial quit showing-up, so I want to connect via the USB connector. Is this possible?
Is there an adapter from DIN 8 Serial/Localtalk connector on Beige G3 to USB for Printer?
Or do I need to buy a PCI to USB card?
    Other solution?
    thanks

    Russo:
If you tried to connect an adaptor to the serial port that had a USB connector on the end, it probably won't work since the serial port isn't currently working. You'd need a USB PCI card to connect to the USB.
I have this same printer, originally used the serial port and then switched to USB when I got the PCI card. This has worked great.
You should see if something got turned off. Look at these:
Under the Apple Menu>Control Panel > AppleTalk - make sure the printer port is selected
Under Apple Menu>Control Panel > Remote Access > Modem (from the drop down menu) - make sure that the printer port isn't selected
Under Apple Menu > Control Panel > USB Printer sharing - make sure that is turned OFF.
You might also have to install drivers for the Epson from the disk that came with it. If you insert the CD and choose "custom install" you'll get another screen that allows you to choose the serial driver package.
Post back if you get it working (or don't).

  • How to setup a usb printer on the usb port of a network storage drive

I have searched the forums and dont see any real info on this..
I have  a usb based officejet 7590 , winxp, and a iomega home media network storage drive
the printer works fine when I install it on the local usb port of the laptop
    BUT
its not clear how to connect it ot the usb port of the network drive.
DO I have to resinstall it as a network printer?
DO I have to resinstall device drivers if I already installed it as a usb printer for the local port?
Can I use the scan/fax functions if I do it right?
    thx!

OK, I will use it as a bookstand...
Since I obviously don't know enough about networks I will stay away from 'professional' products like the Cisco products.
The user interface and the documentation of these products are clearly made by nerds for nerds...
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do you connect a usb printer and usb external hard drive to the airport extreme, as it only has one usb port?

I'm thinking about upgrading my old 802.11g router for a new airport extreme. Can it connect to a usb printer and external hard drive at the same time and acutally work. It only has one usb port on the back.
    thank you!

To add multiple USB printers and/or HDDs, you just first need to connect a USB hub (powered prefereably) to the AirPort's USB port, and then, add the USB devices to the hub.

  • Frequent restart of AIRPORT EXTREME necessary for USB printing

My AIRPORT EXTREME needs to be restarted about once every week through the AIRPORT UTILITY software in order to get the connected USB printer (Brother HL-1450) working.
The AIRPORT is powered 24h a day and connects to the internet flawlessly but the printer dissappears from the "bonjour" printer list frequently.
    Anyone having an idea?
    (latest AIRPORT software V5.7 installed)
    powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hello jlford30. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
You may already have everything set up properly...
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
    - 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
    - 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also, you may find the following Apple article helpful.
