Is Adobe Drive being retired & replaced?

We are working through an implementation of AEM Assets in a cloud-based environment with Adobe managed services (Amazon hosting). Our Adobe implementation team is having problems getting Adobe Drive to work in the hosted model. They recently told us that Adobe Drive is going to be retired and replaced with a Companion app.
Is anybody else successfully using Adobe Drive in the Amazon hosted model?
Is anybody else using Companion? How does it compare feature-wise?

Named Licence (Trial) must have Creative Cloud Desktop Application with CCP?

Hi,
We're using an education agreement for deployment of Adobe desktop applications, and previously, we created a trial or now named license to deploy the applications to our SOE, and then used a license package (after imaging) to licence the software.
In past versions of CCP the desktop application wasn't forced onto the machine, but it appears that it is now? How can I prevent this? Our users aren't using the desktop application to sign in, we are using the license package.
Is there another way to create a trial package (sans desktop app)?

We're moving more and more of the essential shared componentry around activation and named user deployment, as well as software and asset acquisition, into Creative Cloud Desktop app. Making Creative Cloud Desktop app mandatory allows us to streamline the user experience around login, activation, and service access, as we don't need to replicate this work everywhere. This will be critical, for example, for CC Libraries, CC Assets, AEM Assets, and other core CC capabilities and their integration with the desktop and mobile tools.
hence, creative cloud desktop app is mandate for Named license user.

Photoshop CS6 not allowing Check In with Adobe Drive 4.2 & AEM 5.6 DAM

I have just started to set up a AEM DAM for my design team to utilize. While it worked exactly as expected on one team member's computer, I am having some problems. I can only check items in or out through Bridge CS6. With both PS and Illustrator the "Check In" menu item is greyed out. Also, when I open a file in PS from the DAM, it doesn't automatically check the item. I've seen it work fine on a cowokers computer with a seemly similar setup. Any ideas?
Mac 10.7.5
PS CS6
Bridge CS6
Adobe Drive 4.2
CQ 5.5 and AEM 5.6 (same thing on both)

In order for the Check In menu item to appear in the supported CS apps., the asset must be opened and a change must be made (it will then automatically be checked out).

Update of links in Indesign CS6 when changing asset via drive

Hi,
i am having an issue regarding the integration of Adobe AEM with InDesign CS6 via Drive:
I have a indd document that has a link to an image, both are stored on a Adobe AEM 5.6.1 server and accessed via Adobe Drive 5.0.2.
Now i tested the use case that the asset is changed and replaced on the AEM instance. I expect that InDesign tells me that the link has updated when I am opening the file the next time and the new asset is shown.
Unfortunatly this expectation occurs very unreliably and I managed to update the image only a few times.
However, if i link to an image on my local hard drive and i change it, InDesign reacts immediatly. So i think that Adobe Drive is the responsible part.
So my question is: does anyone have the same experience when integrating InDesign with AEM via Drive and does anyone know a best practise to reliably update images when the target of a link has changed?

While writing I made a mistake... It is true I could become aware of the Scorpio incompatibility.
I also tried the same identical procedure with a Seagate one. This disk and the same procedure was performed by some people I know on many MacBookPro Mid-2010 and everything was OK.
We do not understand why this problenm occurs.
Furthermore, If I installed the system on the broken HDD (that works, but sometimes it fails so badly and makes the system experience kernel panic) I could boot from it.
I guess it is because of the **** Apple FIrmware written on the label.
Is it possible that I cannot manage to boot from my new HDD because it has not a "special" feature on it that makes it compatible with apple??? Why making things so **** difficult my god a closer world like Apple one is impossible to imagine.

DAM question: assets in multilanguage

Hello.
I've a question related to a recent RFI we’ve received from a client.
This client is evaluating DAM, and the main issue we’ve to solve is how to manage digital assets in different languages (as images can contain texts, and videos can contain different audio). I mean, for this client, ‘an image’ is the aggrupation of the images in different languages (same for videos). With this idea as the start point, there’re several issues to consider:
Users need to view the different ‘language images’ as a one, unique entity (maybe a folder… ¿?).
Users should manage an image (so, all the language images) at one time: request for activation, deactivation…
Images should have an identifier. The users have to find all ‘language images’ with this identifier, and external web servers have to request an image with the image identifier and the language code as a parameters.
Under your point of view, which is the best approach to face this challenges?
My first approach is to group 'language images' in a folder, and develop a custom workflows to manage all these image at a time, with the containing folder as a workflow payload. Also, could be necessary to implement a mechanism to replicate some image metadata between these images (metadata like the ID, that must be unique for all the images in a folder).

Could be a few things
Not sure how old the G4s are, but try software encoding instead of hardware encoding in the DVD SP prefs, could be your video card.
Have you built to the hard drive and tried the DVD (not just Simulator? Simulaator is not 100% reliable)
Something else to consider, if you do the menu outside of DVD SP in Final Cut or Motion, you can get better results/quality

AEM DAM 5.6.1 as standalone

Hi
with AEM 5.6.1 can we get a license of standalone DAM? We are looking for using a separate DAM to integrate with existing WCM system.
Is there a way we get Adobe DAM and integrate with other open source or commercial WCM products? And how does the pricing model work?

1) Licensing questions are better directed at your Adobe Account Manager or contact via the link at [1].
2) AEM (CQ DAM) implements open standards via REST interfaces so you should be able to write a connector for your current WCM to do whatever you need.

Guidelines to upload Assets into DAM

Hi,
We are in a process of uploading Assets into CQ DAM (AEM 5.6).
Example folder struture is:
/content/dam/exercises/test/
What is the recommended Assets limit that we can upload in 'test' level dam folder.
I've seen in the google groups that Adobe receomends don't use more than 200 to 250 assets at one level. But we are uploading around 5000 images in a single folder. If it is not recommended, can any one let me know the best practice.

Hello Siva,
There are various way and completely depends on your project requirement. Offcourse it is not suggested to keep that huge number of file in a single folder. Here i can suggest one good approach which i normally used is as below.
1. Categorized those assets if possbile lets say based upon your business areas or anything similar. Based on that create your high level of folders
2. Now under all these folders create sub folders hierarchy like a, aa, ab ac... and b, ba, bb, bc ... and c, ca, cb, cc and after some level of depth store your assets which makes each folder to have assets in between 100-200.
I hope above will help you do make some decision.

According to this note for document type used, we should not select the 'inter company posting' or 'enter trading partner indicator'
but as i m doing writeup for asset belonging to affiliated company, so i need to set this indicator. the document type used is standard AA

     I am importing FA in SAP B1 PL 09 but failed, with system message log " Its active depreciation areas must be the same as those defined in the corresponding asset class. I checked depreciation areas and asset class, They corresponded to each other.

Asset Accounting - Mid month Convention

Hi,
I have a problem in Asset Accouting for configuring a mid-month convention (and mid-quarter), settings. I activated the use of half-month in my company code (value 15), and defined Calender assignment for my Fiscal year variant, for Period control 03. The depreciation start date is correctly calculated for the tax depreciation area (period control 03). But, for my book and group depreciation area (period control 01 - 1st of acquisition month), the system also calculating 15/mm.
For Book Depreciation area I need to calculate depreciation for the entire period in which Asset is acquired (period Control 01) Currently If I acuire the asset before 15th of month its calculating depreciation for entire month and If I acquire the asset after 15th of month its calculating only for half month.
Is there a way to have mid-month calculation only applying to specific depreciation area ? Did i miss something in the customizing or do I have to change the period control 01 to force the start date at the first of the current month ?
If you require any futher info to provide input on this issue, Please let me know.

As long as the depreciation keys are different between the depreciation areas you should be able to have one calculating at mid-month and the other at full month, respectively.
Just a thought: Go into transaction "OAVH" and make sure that the periods are assigned correctly for your Period Control "1". It should have one line item with a "0" in the month and day field and the period field should be 'blank'.
If the Period Control is correct, you should try creating a custom Period Control that defines each period as the last day of the month.

which of these items i've received, i've paid (also date), i've not paid ( amount of debt related to asset)
payments in advanced (date),
wich of these payments have been cleared (clearing date) and wich not,
who is the vendor,
other expenses (such as delivery)
the amount of taxes,
invoices related and NOT RELATED TO purchase order
payments without invoice
Which transactions do i need to follow?
or
Which document flow?
or
Which tables? Wich keys?
or
Is there a standard report that can give me such information?
Any documentation and/or code will be appreciated.
I need to program a report to integrate all these information.

Hi Venkatareddy,
You make specifications for fiscal years and posting periods in the SAP R/3 System in Customizing for Financial Accounting. This is done in the fiscal year variant in the global parameters of the company code. These settings are, in general, also binding for Asset Accounting. The depreciation periods in Asset Accounting then correspond to the posting periods in Financial Accounting.<b> It is usually not necessary to create a separate fiscal year variant for Asset Accounting.</b>
The period control in the depreciation key determines the start and end of depreciation when asset transactions are posted . The period control determines the relationship between the calendar period in which the asset transaction is posted and the depreciation period.
These calendar periods are independent of the posting periods in Financial Accounting. The only restriction is that the beginning of the first calendar period and the end of the last calendar period defined in a period control have to match the start date and final date of the fiscal year in Financial Accounting.

Error in Asset A/c Determination

Hi all,
I already created asset in Accont determination (111) which is assigned to Asset Class. Now I need to assign GL a/c(222) to DP Acq. in Tcode- OA90. But I am getting an error as below:
"Account 300 not yet defined as reconciliation account in co. code PP"
But i created GL a/c(222) as recon a/c, i did not assigned earlier, now it is not accepting
<b>Case-2:</b>
Due to the above error, i tried to assign another GL a/c (333), but showing error that
"You no longer change the value 222 for the GL a/c"
You tried to change GL a/c 222. However, assets were already created with an a/c determination that includes this a/c.
You can only change GL a/c in the a/c deterination as long as there is no asset that uses this a/c.
If you want to change the a/c, you have to enter a new a/c deterination containing the hange a/c.
