AEX network card compatible?

Could anyone please confirm that my AEX network card Firmware v 405.1 (3.90.34.0) is compatable with Belkin45g (802.11g) ADSL modem with wireless G router?
As have been wired with Cable Ethernet (NTL/Virgin) for last 12 months and am now switching back to a previously working Wireless network connection at home - that is currently not establishing any network/s at all!? under 'Internet connect'/Utility.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

When connecting to a non-Apple base station, I wouldn't put too much stock in the Internet Connect status field. If you are successfully connected, it merely states "Connected to nameofwirelessnetwork".
I would suggest that you change the name of your wireless network and not use the default "belkin54g".
You may be suffering from RF interference. Other devices which operate at 2.4 GHz can negatively affect your wireless network. Try changing the channel used by the base station until you find a channel which works better or you run out of channels.

  • Installing ne2000 compatible network card

i am trying to install a ne2000 compatible network card (isa) on solaris 8 intel.
i have placed the following info in nei.conf:
    name="nei" parent="isa" ioaddr=0x300 interrupts=3;
but when i issue drvconfig -i nei
    it says:
    "drvconfig: controller cannot be added:nei"
do you have any idea of what can be happening? thanks a lot

    Hi!
    According to docs on:
    http://sun.drydog.com/faq/s86faq.html#6.6
    there should be
    name="nei" parent="isa" reg=1,0x300,0x10 interrupts=3;
(reg= keyword instead of ioaddr=). Please ensure that you have installed /kernel/drv/nei driver file (see above link for details please). Also double check IO and IRQ parameters - IRQ3 may conflict with serial port If the card is working in another OS note IO & IRQ values and use them in Solaris too if possible.

  • A question about Routers and network cards

I have a question, Can Hardware confict with internet speed problems with the routers like one having a gigabit etherenet network card and 1/100 intel etherent card?

Ethernet components are generally compatible across brand names, and speeds.  So you can connect gigabit cards to 10/100 networks.  You can connect 10/100 cards to gigabit networks.
When you mix speeds, you will be limited to the fastest speed that all components can do, so if you connect a gigabit card to a 10/100 network, you will be limited to a 100 Mbps connection.

  • Replacement network cards for MacPro

My question is for anyone who is familiar with the MacPro motherboard. Lightning blew out my dual ethernet card and the estimate to replace it is around $450. A friend told me I could purchase a compatible network card and plug it directly into one of the three available slots on the mother board. If this is true, could anyone suggest to me a network card that is compatible with the MacPro motherboard? I would appreciate any help with this issue!

Are you considering any particular cards ?
    I have had good luck with DEC21040 (10baseT) and DEC21140 (100baseT) cards
in Solaris 7 through Solaris 10 on x86.
The same can be said for 3Com 3C905C-TX cards.
Solaris 8x86 will recognize many chipsets natively,
and a number of third party developers have created working driver packages.
Most of their driver packages are free, but a few are not free.
Solaris 9 works with a few more, and Solaris 10 works with yet more adapters.
The Solaris 8x86 HCL list has the native cards.
This other Sun web page can direct you toward 3rd party sites.

  • How do I get an Equium A110-233 to recognise the network card under Linux?

    Hi,
I've just bought an Equium A110-233. I partitioned the hard disk so I've got XP and Fedora Core 5 (FC5).
XP works fine when I plug in the network cable, but FC5 (or at least the Linux kernel) does not seem to be able to find and activate the network card.
The message I get is "8139too device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization". The 8139too module is in memory as is mii (which points to it).
Somehow I need to get Linux to detect that the card is there, but I just don't know how to do that. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi
As far as I know the notebook has a integrated Realtek Network I/F Chip RL8100CL.
I think you should googol around for the compatible LAN driver for Linux which supports this chip.
Unfortunately, on the Toshiba page you will not find any drivers for any Linux distribution because Toshiba doesnt support this OS. ;(

  • Difficulty getting my network card to work.

    Hey there,
I recently converted to arch after the recent kernel update and currently love it. However, even though my network card should be supported, I'm having trouble connecting to any network, whether it be from ethernet or wireless.
I was able to connect to a network through ethernet during the install but not anymore.
I'm rocking a MSI GP60 2PE Leopard using the most up to date version of arch.

Welcome to the forums.  Please use code tags when posting command output - and see the stickied threads in this subforum and the forum etiquette guide on the wiki.
Your ethernet cards is found by `lspci` and `ip link` - all seems in order there so far.  What have you done to try to connect?  The simplest test would be the following:
    sudo dhcpcd enp3s0
If that works, then all is well and good, see the wiki on how to get connected automatically at start up.  If the above command fails, please post the error messages it provides.
For wireless, lspci doesn't even show any wireless hardware - perhaps it is a usb interface for the wireless, what is the output of the following:
    dmesg | grep usbcore

  • Network card installation

I've tried installing 2 different network cards (Linksys TNE100TX; 3COM 3C509B Etherlink III). I think my problem is that I'm a novice user and don't know how to install a network card and assign an IP address. I've found the Linksys card on one HCL (although it's not listed in my Solaris 8 documentation on my disk), but can't find the 3COM card. Are either one of these cards compatible? Do I need drivers?
I'm on an Intel platform with Solaris 8. I am connected to a Linksys router (to share my DSL line). The router has a fixed IP address from PacBell, but uses 'DHCP' to assign IP addresses to my 3 computers.
How can I let my UNIX system know I'm using DHCP?
How do I assign the router IP address? Do I use the route add default command? Do I use the default gateway address or the router IP address for this?
Do I need a DNS/hosts table? Should I edit the /etc/nsswitch.conf file to add 'dns' to the 'hosts' line?
Do I need to edit the /etc/resolv.conf file, putting in my primary and secondary name servers (from Pac Bell)?
Also, on boot I get an error message: Can't register INT for PCIclass, 0C0300 device at IPL 1 because conflicts with IPL 14. Can you explain what this means and how to correct it?
As you can from my questions, I know some terminology (from my books), but don't really have a good grasp of what I am doing yet. I just started learning UNIX.
Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
    Bill Lazar

    Recently I have installed S10 b63 on a X86 PII machine.
Regarding the 3com nic - 3c905c - the installation and running with elxl driver was ok.
Now I want to change this nic for an other 3com nic -3c905, but encountered following problems:
When I put new nic in same pci slot and boot up solaris I get a row of errors and don't get trough the boot process.
-Errors are caused e.g. by the different MAC address of the NIC, and therefore no NIC is recognised at all.
-Boot hangs because a NSF request is made at boot, but is not rewarded as NIC is not active.
Changed my strategy to adding a second 3com NIC (both using the elxl driver) and followed the hints from Juergen Keil (above), but " ifconfig elxl1plumb " results in "no such interface"
I have looked on the web and in the documentation for a solution, but so far I have not found how to go about this, other that doing a complete new solaris installation.
    Any help appriciated !

  • XPS 8700 - need additional network card for VMware Workstation

    Hello -
I'm wanting to add either a dual or quad network card to my XPS 8700 so I can provide physical interfaces for some VMware Workstaion.  Is there a specific band or model that is compatible..?
I've tried installing a spare Intel E1G42ET (dual port) card I had laying around, but the OS never saw it even with the drivers from Intel's website loaded up.
    Any suggestions..?  Thanks,

No - but it's just another card to the BIOS. Also, there's already a Wireless NIC and an Ethernet NIC in there.  I appreciate the suggestion - I can test it,. but suspect the issue will remain the same.
    Thanks,

  • Network Card XP Driver Configuration

I've installed winxp home in Imac 17'', but it doesn't detect the network card.

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows XP.

... it is on the Hardware Compatibility list?
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/
Do you know what Ethernet adapter is in the computer?
Is it a chipset that is integrated onto the systemboard, or is it a separate card?
    Who made the computer ?
Operating systems like Solaris, Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc
do not natively support every chipset that was ever invented.
You may need to download and install driver software.
That software may be from the chipset manufacturer (RealTek, LinkSys, NetGear, Intel, 3COM, for example),
or it may be available from the computer manufacturer (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony as examples),
... or it may have been published by an individual person
that just chose to write their own code when the manufacturer couldn't be bothered.
As a last alternative, you'll need to buy an Ethernet adapter that is compatible.
You will need to provide more information if anyone is going to give more assistance.

  • 1802 unauthorized network card - but FRU is listed in the Hardware Maintenance Manual

I have an x130e (0622-23U) and wanted to update my wireless card. I looked up the compatible cards in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. It listed several, including FRU 60Y3241, Intel Centrino Wireness-N 1000. I bought a card matching this description on Ebay. It arrived and is labeled as advertised. It shows Model: 112BNHMW.
When I installed it and rebooted, I get the BIOS error 1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in.
Did I buy a brick from from Ebay? (Wouldn't be the first time.) Or is there something else that I should be looking for when I shop for a compatible wireless card?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Good evening.
One detail that *may* explain why you're getting the 1802 error with a card that is listed in the HMM and presumably has a legit FRU label:
On page 85 of your HMM ( http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x130e_hmm_en_0a96359_03.pdf ), item 15 is the WLAN adapter. The first grouping of MTMs includes your 0622-23U (denoted as 0622-23x). For that group, the listed FRU P/Ns are: 60Y3247 and 60Y3249. The remaining 4 groupings of MTMs do not specifically include yours. The 60Y3241 FRU is specified for 2338, 2339 and 2340 machines.
    Just a hypothesis.
    Regards.
Edit to add: Digging a little deeper, specifically, looking at the readme file for the BIOS update in the driver listings, it appears that there are different BIOS versions for different MTM families (23xx vs 06xx, generally) - "8Q" and "8R" prefixed. So it's not impossible that the BIOS whitelists also differ. Just an observation.

  • Alternative to Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN wireless network card?

I'm finding that my Intel 5100 AGN wireless network card is not performing as well as it used to.  I've tried everything... even drivers are fully up to date.  But I keep losing connection to my wireless router, even though connection strength is between 3-4 bars.  I find that I rarely get dropped if I have 5 bars.  But if it weakens to 3, I get periodically dropped no matter what wireless network I am using.
I want to replace this card with something better, but of course compatible with the HP dv5 (my specific model is dv5t-1000).  Any recommendations?
"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more possibilities."
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi, Gary:
What I meant by my statement regarding you having the better of the available cards for your notebook is that, yes, I am sure the Intel 5300 is an improvement over the 5100, but the problem is you can't install the 5300 in your notebook.
The Intel 5300 is not supported (only the cards/part numbers listed in the service manual can be installed) and your notebook wouldn't boot until you removed the card.
You can try a different card listed in the manual if you want.
However, you are limited to the:
    Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module
Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g WLAN module (not a wireless N card)
I suppose you can use an external USB adapter but I would get one with an external antenna connected to it, because I would have to believe the 3 antenna wire setup in your notebook has to provide superior reception over a plain USB wireless adapter with an internal antenna as its only antenna.
The antennas go all the way up to the top of your screen.
Did you fiddle around with your network card's advanced settings?  They can be found by clicking on the card in the device manager, clicking on the advanced tab.  make a note of where the settings are now so if something goes buggy, you can change them back.
Here is a guide to the advanced settings you have and the recommended settings for them.

  • X230 / mSATA SSD - Will not allow boot (unauthorized network card)

this is killing me.  I just got a crucial msata ssd.  i went to install and the thinkpad whitelist fcc crap is giving me trouble.  the system thinks it a network card and is therefore stopping the boot.  i see others have installed msata on x230 and I have done this on other models as well.
does anyone know a way around this that doesn't envolve changing the bios to a custom bios hack?

    Hello,
I don't have an X230 myself, but have you tried using a different MiniPCIe slot?  On my X220, only one of the MiniPCIe slots is mSATA compatible.  Perhaps it is the same way with the X230.

  • Recommend a network card?

    Hi all,
What PCI network card would people recommend that is compatible with OS X? It will be going in a G4 tower running either 10.3 or 10.4 (I haven't checked with the person who this is for yet). Something that will be a quick and easy install. Thanks!

    Hi, Matt.
Well, I was wondering if either that was the case or you just didn't know Macs. If you had stated in your initial post that the Ethernet port was dead, I'd have answered differently. Unfortunately, my powers of clairvoyance are somewhat limited today.
Take a look at the cards in the XLR8YourMac "OS X PCI Ethernet Card Compatibility reports."
    Good luck!
