AF render & output question

I'm doing my intro in AF, multiple layers, footage, text, camera , 3d and all other. This clip is 30sec. all settings are best since I combine these with my full HD camcorder footage. The rendered clip comes out to 13.9gb while in Vegas after render (and keeping best settings) it's around 125Mb. I understand the compression is different, one of my issues is I have an external SSD that I want to use for footage and render to stay away from main drive, but with 13sec clip at 14Gb and footage with effects going on 50Gb is beyond the SSD capacity (since it's an 80Gb that's split for footage and renders).
I guess I need some help with settings? I'm using CS5
P.S. How do I increase decrease work area footage time (other than initial new project) especially with open composition?

For your compression questions, please do a generic search on Google about AVCHD, H.264, Quicktime CoDecs and all these things. This has been and is being discussed a gigazillion times and you can find enough archived posts even here on this forum. It's a complex black art and since you didn't provide any more specific details, this could only lead to an uninformed, infinite, but quite aggraviting thread for all involved. Read up on the basics first, then come back with specific questions.

  • Anyone understand the purpose of Proxy render/output format?

    So I've done a couple of projects with X now and am fairly happy with the proxy workflow:
    1) Ingest, creating proxies, but no optimized - render format set to ProRes regular
    2) Edit in proxy
    3) In preferences, switch back to "Use original or optimized"
    4) Tweak edit
    5) Render and export
    However, I'm still not understanding the thinking behind the render/output format (full-resolution proxy) when you are editing in proxy. It seems to me that it SHOULD be:
    EITHER: When you're editing proxy, if you render/export, FCPX renders/outputs in proxy using the same low resolution as your proxy files. This would be great for early, quick samples for clients. No need to spend forever rendering full-res ProRes regular, or the pointless upsizing of pre-rendered lo-res proxies.
    OR: Even while you're editing from proxies, background rendering is done in your full-quality format (i.e. 1080 ProRes regular). This would save you from re-rendering when you switch back over to original/optimized.
    Ideally, there'd be a toggle to choose which of these you want. Even without a toggle, Apple should pick one of these it seems. The way it is now seems useless.
    SUMMARY:
    While editing in proxy, render/output should be either:
    1) 720x540 ProRes Proxy
    OR
    2) 1920x1080 ProRes Regular
    BUT NOT
    3)1920x1080 ProRes Proxy
    I was going to send an enhancement request about it, but figured I'd first see if anybody knows of a useful reason for it instead being this third, awkward format.
    Thoughts?

    I had hoped the summary would clear up the question. I guess not. Let's try this again:
    QUESTION - Would other people like the output, when in proxy mode, to be a low-res ProRes Proxy file - the same size as the files that are created when you tell FCPX to make proxies of your original files?
    DETAILS
    - When you create proxies of your original files, they are a low-resolution of "something"x540 (in my case 720x540)
    - If you output while in proxy, you get a proxy output file at 1920x1080 - this is 5.3 times as many pixels to render as 720x540.
    - Assuming a linear relationship between number of pixels and render time, this means it would take over 5 times as long to render the current form of proxy output, as compared to what I'm asking for.
    - I want a quickly-rendered format (like 720x540 Proxy) so I can quickly render/output, change things, re-render/output, sending multiple sample files to the client.
    - Of course, the ability to mark in/out on the timeline and export just that section is also important here, but that's another post and has already been discussed.
    - For further details, see my original post
    As for my workflow, I don't need to work with either/or. I work in proxy (which, if you're doing more than straight cuts, allows better playback before rendering, no matter what computer you're using) until I'm ready for the final tweaks to graphics or the edit that actually rely on fine detail, and want to output in 1080 Prores regular, at which point I change the preference back to original/optimized, like I said right at the start of the first post. No mind reading necessary. I then tweak, render and output. I'm not sure you're understanding the purpose of a proxy workflow.

  • ADS problem - No Render Output XDC specified

    Hi Experts,
    (reposting in the appropriate forum)
    I installed ADS but cannot print any forms (ABAP trial 7.01 and J2EE trial 6.40 on windows XP).
    I followed the configuration guide. The following tests passed:
    FP_PDF_TEST_00
    http://sapsys:50100/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
    But I can't print preview any forms and the other test programs fail such as:
    FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE
    FP_CHECK_HTTP_DATA_TRANSFER
    Below is the results from the trace file.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,

    please check SAP Note #944221 §4
    4.  Check the settings for the destination service
                  To use the destination service on AS Java, settings are required on AS ABAP and AS Java. Therefore, this test contains several steps.
                  4. 1 In your ABAP system (transaction SA38), call the FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE program (available as of NW2004s SPS 08).
                           a) First of all, execute the program without selecting the option "With Destination Service".
                           The system processes a test form in the background and displays the size of the generated PDF. It does not use the destination service in the process.
                           b) Now select the option "With Destination Service" and execute the program again. The system processes the test form, using the destination service.
    If the system displays the same message (file size of generated PDF) as it does in a), the configuration of the destination service is correct.
                        -> Proceed to the next point (5).
    If the system issues an error message, the configuration of the destination service is incorrect.
                        -> Carry out tests 4.2 to 4.4.
                  4. 2 Check whether the /default_host/sap/bc/fp and /default_host/sap/bc/fpads ICF services are active. (transaction SICF). If this service is not active, activate it. Note: As of NW2004s Support Package Stack 12, when you bundle in distributed systems (in other words, for "non-double-stack installations"), it is optional to use the fpads ICF service
                  4.3 Check the settings for the ICF service.
                           a) Enter the following URL in your Web browser:
                        http://.

  • Render Output!

    Hi all,
    I am very much new to the forums. I am having problems with rendering in the right size. I have a project which has some clips that are of size 1920*1080. But some reason when I render it down, the real video playback just happens on the center of the screen. And on the render settings window I have made it perfectly sure that the render output matches the source attributes. Tried on with a variety of formats but unfortunately all came out with the same results. How do rectify this?
    Please Advice.
    Here is the image for reference. Instead of being fullscreen it is just on the center of the screen.
    Thanks

    HI John,
    Thanks for the speedy response. Here the first image shows the properties of the clip and the second one shows the render settings window. Both are according to me perfect. But still the render output doesn't appear in that resolution.

  • Final Render Output

    Hello, I'm thinking of buying a Nvidia Qaudro K2000 GPU to help with performance with Adobe Premiere CC.
    Would this GPU help significantly in speeding up final render output? Thanks!
    Brandon C.

    http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2011/02/cuda-mercury-playback-engine-and-adobe- premiere-pro.html talks about what CUDA does, and what it doesn't do
    Do you have a 10 bit monitor, or some other specific reason for a Quaddro card?
    A GTX card costs less and you may select a model with more CUDA cores for faster CUDA work

  • HD to SD final output question

    Hello Forum,
    I have just completed Jeff Bellune’s excellent HD to SD tutorial called “hd2sd - High Quality Scaling From HD to SD”. For weeks I have been trying in vain to downscale my 1920 x1080i AVI-8bit YUV HD footage for output to PAL DVD without much luck, resulting in terrible output quality, but for anyone experiencing the same problem I would like to let you know that the quality of the conversion with Jeff's method is absolutely amazing. http://bellunevideo.com/tutlist.php Thanks for the post Jeff you are a star!
    But I have one small problem. In the final process when using VirtualDub to open your AviSynth script file and then saving it out to a Lagarith AVI file.
    The process works as described with great results however the final output file is exported at an output size of 720x576 - 1.250 (5:4) aspect ratio. (Size data extracted from GSpot) The problem is when I import this into Encore the footage does not fill the whole screen.
    My to the forum question is does anyone know how I can change the output file size in VirtualDub to a (16.9) aspect ratio so that when imported into Encore the footage takes up the whole screen in a (16:9) widescreen format.
    Can VirtualDub be used to do this and if so does anyone know the exact settings to be used?
    Any assistance with this will help me greatly.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rex.

    Thank you Jeff
    You are a brilliant person, thank you very much as you solved my long standing and draining problem in one answer!
    The output result is second to none as a matter of fact I can’t even tell the difference from the original footage!
    Everything is fine now but while the Big man himself is about I wonder if you could possibly answer these 3 questions?
    1) I am using Premiere CS5.5, Should I have used the Maximum render quality setting when exporting my MPEG2 file from premiere (this wasn’t mentioned in the CS4 tutorial)
    2).My original source footage used in my test project is 1920 X1080i (1.0) 50Hz Pal - and I have exported 3 versions, one Lower field first, one upper field first and one Progressive no fields. Using the Interpret Footage techniques from your advice I created 3 separate Encore projects in each field setting the thing is I can’t tell the difference between them in my test DVDs. (Q. which field setting do you recommend me use for my final project output to Pal DVD (Note Encore Pal Project settings make reference to Lower field first).
    2) Could I re-import the exported VirtualDub avi file back into premiere. Then edit my project adding effects and titles and when the project is complete export the finished project into Encore either by uncompressed AVI or MPEG2-DVD?. If this is possible will I lose much quality on export? And would you know how I could Interpret the Footage to PAL Widescreen (1.4587).in premiere? (I ask this as it would be much easier to edit with these smaller files as my original files are very resource consuming)
    Again I would be most grateful if you have some advice on these questions as I am a newbie to HD editing but embracing the challenge.
    Thanks again.
    Rex.

  • QUICKTIME OUTPUT QUESTIONS (4 dumb ones but I don't know)

    I need to output my project file as an uncompressed 4.2.2. 10 bit SD quicktime of my 89 minute edit (using that to transfer to digibeta at an outside studio). I'm on fcstudio 2.
    Here is the dumbness...
    As I'm going to take it to a transfer place where I notice the people working go blank if you mention color space, bit rate, up-convert issues...should I in advance include on my quicktime I bring them:
    1. the 1.85 matte output on picture
    this is a 4:3 sd dv sourced picture. Outputting the file is double the memory and I've had issues nesting to output in order to matte with my memory when I output..."out of memory" when memory seems to be there is an issue on the apple boards and seems to come up sometimes, sometimes not ..but I don't want to render my file TWICE in order to have a file with a matte on nor do I want someone else to render the file again with a matte on it.
    2. bars and tones
    How many seconds MINIMUM do I need of them anyway?
    And if I'm going to BOTHER reusing this output to create an mpeg 2 file (or should I not bother and just use a quicktimes settings self contained output for the mpeg 2?) is this ANOTHER reason to NOT put on the bars and tones? Must I should just be making a bunch of different outputs?
    3. a countdown with tones or click
    Does final cut have choices of countdowns? I don't see it in the fcp6 effects choices am I not looking in the right place? (I'll check the manual)
    4. Is there a source for film fbi warning logos without being forced to go somewhere to author a dvd because they have it? anyone have a website to get this off of?
    5. Does it matter if I use the quicktime settings as is and have my settings on my project show the compressor as uncompressed 10 bit or should i just skip exporting it to quicktime settings and instead just go right to compressor?
    6. If I'm going to be using another compression to transfer to mpeg2s down the road, do I need to bother including chapter markers on the output I'm using to transfer because after that goes on digibeta, the digibeta is going to be upresed to hdsr as a widescreen then downconverted back to sd as one of the formats.
    Thanks

    To be honoust: I do not understand all your questions.
    But the main question here is I think:
    How is this outside studio putting the film to Digibeta.
    If they are using Final Cut Pro for that, you could setup (a copy of) your timeline as 10-bit Uncompressed. And give that to them, AS WELL AS ALL YOUR FOOTAGE. So this implies that your project needs to be well organised and all on the removable drive your going to take with you.
    If not, there are other ways.
    Making a 10 bit timeline and export with current settings might also help.
    Or applying the matte can be done different than nesting for instance.
    You can create a matte in Photoshop for instance. Or download my free letterboxer Genterator plugin at http://www.lasserij.nl/fcp or use the one of Andy Mees. It makes it possible to render parts to prevent your macjine running out of memory.
    Your MPEG 2 questions are a little vague to me. As well as "film fbi warning logos". What are those?
    About bars and tones. Depends on where you live and who is going to broadcast your film. Every TV station can provide you with their 'delivery-specs' (specifications). films usually start 01:00:00:00 or at 10:00:00:00 (I always forget which of them is UK and which is USA; Here in Holland we just use a starting TC of 00:02:00:00, which is very unusual in the rest of the world, I think). But you also need to consider the loudness of the Tone. Is it -12 dB, -14dB, -18dB, -20 dB? And at what level does the mix need to be done (Or is it mixed extarnally?)
    In other words: Find out what you need exactly (again: delivery-specs), before starting to think about how to output.

  • Render Output Settings to H264 mp4

    Mac Mini 8GB/2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. After Effects CS5/Comp settings: HDTV 1920 x1080 24. 5min video with audio, 55 layers Rendered output to H.264Video 1920 x 1080.
    I have a 35 sec Intro template of visual/audio fx with 50 Layers, using several standard plugins, I rendered this 35sec visual clip to H.264Video 1920x 1080 mp4 format and it plays great. When I added my 5minute 1.2GB mp4 video and 6mb audio.mp4 to this 35sec template and rendered to output with same settings my 15HR rendered time completed in 1.5hrs. I also noticed the 5min video bit rate is 707. The 35sec bit rate is 16,193. My original 5min video was a mov file but I couldn't import to AE-had an error so I converted it to mpeg-4.
    My questions:
    Why do I have a lower bit rate now?
    Because I imported mpeg-4 video, this causes poor quality play in output H.264 format? Then what correct video format do I import to AE?
    I have Adobe Media Encoder but no Quicktime Pro. I'm new to AE, still learning. Thank you.

    There's another option. Instead of rendering anything out of After Effects you can open up a saved AE project in Adobe Media Encoder. Dynamic link will launch. You'll find your compositions listed. Pick the one you want to render, pick the preset you want to use, set the preset for 2 pass encoding if you want the best results because most if not all presets are set to one pass, then render away. I've taken to using the YouTube HD preset to push out files for client review before we commit the projects final render. This saves time, disk space, and works very well. I never use highly compressed video for archiving or final delivery, but for review, for sharing, for burning a quick DVD, this workflow is just fine and much better than trying to render GOP compressed files from inside AE.
    For this to work you must have the right settings and you must have the composition length match the desired output and you must make sure that the frame rates match. The media encoder will not recognize the work area or the frame rate of the composition. It will always render the entire composition at the frame rate, frame size, and pixel aspect ratio in the Media Encoder settings.
    If you have the horsepower to multitask you can continue to work in After Effects while you render. Changes to the project will not be reflected in the cued render. I usually just move on to another project or another composition in the project. Hope this helps.

  • Maximum Bit Depth /Maximum Render Quality  Questions

    Maximum Bit Depth
    If my project contains high-bit-depth assets generated by high-definition camcorders, I was told to select Maximum Bit Depth because Adobe Premiere Pro uses all the color information in these assets when processing effects or generating preview files. I'm capturing HDV using the Matrox RTX-2 Hardware in Matrox AVI format.
    When I finally export my project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4, will selecting Maximum Bit Depth provide better color resolution once I post to Blu-ray format?
    Maximum Render Quality
    I was told that by using Maximum Render Quality, I maintain sharp detail when scaling from large formats to smaller formats, or from high-definition to standard-definition formats as well as maximizes the quality of motion in rendered clips and sequences. It also renders moving assets more sharply. It's my understanding that at maximum quality, rendering takes more time, and uses more RAM than at the default normal quality. I'm running Vista 64 Bit with 8 GIGs of RAM so I'm hoping to take advantage of this feature.
    Will this also help to improve better resolution when I finally export my project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 and post to Blu-ray format?
    Does it look like I have the specs to handle Maximum Bit Depth and Maximum Render Quality when creating a new HDV project with the support of the Matrox RTX 2 Hardware capturing in Matrox AVI format? See Below Specs.

    Just some details that i find useful on maximum render depth
    You really need it even with 8bit source files, when using heavy grading/multiple curves/vignettes. If after grading you see banding, go to sequence > sequence settings from the top menu and check "maximum bit depth (ignore the performance popup), then check again your preview (it will change in a second) to see if banding is still present in 32bit mode. If no banding, you must check it when exporting, if  banding is still there, change your grading, then uncheck it to continue with editing.
    Unfortunately Maximum bit depth exporting is extremely time-consuming, but can really SAVE YOUR DAY when facing artifacts after heavy grading, by completely or almost completely eliminating banding and other unwanted color distortions.
    Use it only for either small previews or the really final output.
    Best Regards.

  • When / where to render - workflow question.

    Hello.
    I did try a couple of searches but did not seem to hit what I am looking for.
    I am a relativly new convert to Premiere Pro, came over from the Sony world.
    Purchased a EVGA GTX560 last week (used to be radeon based) and I am in awe. Loving things so far.
    Anyway, the last few projects I did were all web based, so no need to burn actual media. Just finished a project and exported it to Encore. Stumbled through Encore and managed to get a simple Menu based BD ready to burn. Then I selected build and it ran and ran and ran. It was making progress, just very slowly.
    So my question, what is the typical "best practices" worklow.
    Do I need to render it from Premiere first ? It seems to render much faster there, then just import the rendered file into Encore ? Or am I missing some sort of setting in Encore that will make it render as fast as in Premiere Pro ?
    Some details on the project.
    All HD, some from a HF20 (1080i(30P/60i)) and some from a Canon T3i, DSLR, 1080 30p. I have a couple of AE comps in the timeline but 80% is straight Premiere edits, color correction, transitions, etc. Total length is 42 minutes.
    Thanks.

  • Complier output question

    I've been working on a java assignment that requires me to write a command line program which will read data from a text file, store the data in a vector and then save the vector to another file in a serialized form. I have written this program using the Kawa complier software.
    I have, what I believe to be, a working program; it complies without reporting any errors, but when I try to run the program, I get the following message in the complier output window.
    'Exception in thread "main"'
    Can someone tell me what this means?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestions, but I found a solution for it after posting the question. Another problem has come up now though.
    As I stated, the program is supposed to read the data from a text file, store it in a vector, and output it to another file in serialized form.
    The input file consists of many records of computers and peripherals. Each record uses four lines of the input file, and is displayed like this:
    Description (String)
    Price (float)
    VAT Price (float)
    Quantity (integer),
    Now I think the output file is supposed to look the same as the input file, but the one my program generates doesn't. My program code is as follows:
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.*;
    class TextToVector
         public static void main(String [] args) throws IOException
              try
              Vector v = new Vector(); //creates the vector
              String inFile = new String ("C:/My Documents/V3/Data/stocklist.txt ");     //Informs the program of the name, type & location of the source file
              FileOutputStream outFileStream = new FileOutputStream("C:/My Documents/V3/outfile.dat ");     //Instructs the program where to create the output file, what type of file it should be & what to name it
              //the command paths used in these lines can be modified to read/send a file from/to
              //where ever the user wants, the user must also set these identical paths in
              //the "Interpreter Options" for this to work correctly
              ObjectOutputStream objOutStream = new ObjectOutputStream(outFileStream);
              objOutStream.writeObject(v);     //writes the object to the vector
              objOutStream.flush();                     //purges the objOutStream
              outFileStream.close();                     //closes the objOutStream
              catch (IOException e)
              System.out.println("Exception Writing File ");
              System.exit(1);
    public Vector readRecord(String inFile, Vector v) throws IOException
              String inString = new String(" ");
              String D = " ";
         float P = 0.0f;
         float V = 0.0f;
         int Q = 0;
              int count=0;
              BufferedReader buffReader = null;     //enures the BufferedReader is empty before beginning to read the source file
              buffReader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader (inFile));     //used to read & record each line of the source file
    try
         while((inString = buffReader.readLine()) !=null)
         count++;
         if(count==1)
         inString = buffReader.readLine();
         D = inString;
         if(count==2)
         inString = buffReader.readLine();
         P = (Float.valueOf(inString)).floatValue();
         if(count==3)
         inString = buffReader.readLine();
         V = (Float.valueOf(inString)).floatValue();
              if(count==4)
         inString = buffReader.readLine();
         Q = (Integer.valueOf(inString)).intValue();
         if(count==5)
         //System.out.println("Description " + D + " Price " + P + " VATPrice " + V + " Quantity " + Q);
         StockItem record = new StockItem(D,P,V,Q);
         v.add (record);
         count=0;
    buffReader.close();
    return v;
    catch(IOException e)
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    return v;
    class StockItem implements Serializable
         private String D;
    private float P;
    private float V;
    private int Q;
         StockItem()
         D = " ";
         P = 0.0f;
         V = 0.0f;
         Q = 0;
         StockItem(String Description, float Price, float VATPrice, int Quantity)
         D = Description;
         P = Price;
         V = VATPrice;
         Q = Quantity;
         public String getDescription()
    return D;
    public float getPriceValue()
    return P;
    public float getVATPriceValue()
    return V;
    public int getQuantityValue()
    return Q;
    Can anyone see anything wrong with this? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Best output question

    We were given a tvc to put together using clips from a local tv station (DVCPro and DVCam). We put the entire thing together in Motion in a DVPAL Anamorphic project, with tons of FX plug-in effects (blooms, light rays, glass brick diffusions,etc.) that won't render out in FCP. Now that it's built we need to output to Beta. So not sure what to do at this point because we don't have a Beta deck. I'm guessing that we should export it out of Motion in either Apple animation codec or in 10-bit uncompressed and then take it into a 10-bit uncompressed FCP sequence, export that as a Quicktime and deliver that to a post house to output onto Beta. But not sure if that's going to give us the best quality - which we desperately need because this is going out on tv and is going to be playing on the facades of a couple skyscrapers.

    Hey Thrillcat - it's a PAL project. And what's strange is that Motion gives you NTSC SD and NTSC DV as separate options, but when it comes to PAL there's only PAL DV-Broadcast SD (which is what I'm working in). The frame rate isn't a problem, it's 25 fps throughout. So I assume I output it via Compressor as 8-Bit uncompressed PAL? Or am I missing something here?
    Michael - we'll definitely talk to the post people before we lay it onto Beta. And your advice is well heeded. Shanghai's a seriously tricky town when it comes to post. Most places are just a couple kids running a pirate version of Adobe Premier. There are a couple FCP shops, but they're expensive (especially when they find out you're a foreigner).

  • Air Output Question

    I've been playing around with the free trial of RH8 and I
    have some questions regarding the Air output:
    1. If I add a comment, is there a way I can edit it? I tried,
    but so far haven't been able to do so (I would think that I would
    in case there's a typo or something).
    2. Also, is there a way to show which topic a comment applies
    to. Say I decide to set my comments to "Show All," is there a way
    to see what topics each comment applies to?

    Hi Moranis,
    To answer your queries.
    1. Edit is not there. Currently you can add and delete
    comments.
    2. You can sort the comments by topic after you do show all.
    sharona27lily,
    Let me answer your queries.
    Comments by different users are managed on a shared network
    location. End user whoever is giving comments on the AIR output
    doesn't need anything else. In fact RH8 is needed for producing AIR
    output. Commenting will be done without RH8.
    Let me know if you have more queries.

  • Tomcat output question

    hi all
    i think this is a simple (and quite stupid) question, but i don't know ho to solve my problem
    i work on two computer (windows 2k), one where i have tomcat installed not like a service, the other with tomcat installed like a service.
    when i write some servlet or jsp page i use to debug it through System.out.println() method to get the output. when i work on the 1st machine i can read the output directly by the prompt, but the problem arrives on the other machine, when no prompt is opened running tomcat.
    is there a way (log file and so on) to get my application's output running under tomcat? the version is 4.1.18
    thanx a lot
    sandro

    Hi. the solution is quite simple.
    Go to your TomcatHome (where you installed it) and look for a folder called log. To check your System.out.println stuff on your tomcat as windows service just take a look to an archive called stdout.txt or something similar (can't remember the exact name)

  • DOM output question

    Hi all,
    I have the following question about writing a DOM (Document) out to a stream. But first.. a bit of background on the framework...
    I have the following classes:
    Listener.class -> sends InputStream to -> Parser.class
    Parser.class -> sends DOM (Document) to -> Formatter.class
    What I then want is the
    Formatter.class -> send a stream -> Writer.class
    Writer.class to do its funky stuff.
    The problem I am having is trying to work out what input/output stream combination to use and what XML helpers to do it.
    I am using Java 1.4 and Xerxes2 classes only...
    So the question is:
    1. What should the Formatter.class pass to the Writer.class?
    2. What should I use to create the stream?
    Ideally I want an InputStream passed to the Writer.class
    Cheers,
    Alex.

    I don't quite follow your framework, but then I didn't try too hard because if you want to get data from a DOM into a file or some other output, you use a javax.xml.transform.Transformer. Approximately like this:Transformer t = TransformerFactory.newTransformer();
    t.transform(new DOMSource(someNode), new StreamResult(someWriter));
