I'm not sure if this will help, but I went into my sounds setting and made sure that both the "vibrate on ring" and "vibrate on silent" were selected to "on." Once I did this, I was able to get the vibrating notification for a call received (as this had previously not been the case). Hope this helps.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
There will be no audio output in safe mode. The question to be answered by the test is whether any devices are listed in the Sound preference pane. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I went by the Apple Store and they told me that there was a "Flat Rate" repair service for this particular part where they would replace the logic board along with the USB ports for $350. Seems like best avenue. All of this would have been moot but my wifi in the computer also doesn't work so I was using my phone as a hot spot and tethering it to the computer for Internet access when the last port quit. This left me with no internet and no printing capabilities on the computer I use for my business. Basically became a nice paperweight. lol
They will ship it off Monday and I should have it back Thursday!

Looks like blame is incorrectly placed. Turns out my iSCSI connector is struggling with Mavericks. When I placed the iTunes library on a local drive, everything came back to normal.

Certain Tools Have Stopped Working on Specified Layer

Everything was working normally this morning until suddenly the Brush Tool stopped being able to add to a particular layer, but instead added to a layer below.
A few tests found that the Brush Tool,Spot Healing Brush Tool, Dodge Tool, dont' work, and the tools that work correctly are: Marquee Tool, Eyedropper Tool, Blur Tool, Eraser Tool.
Anybody know what's going on here?
I'm woking with CS2, PhotoShop 9.0

I found the culprit. For the Brush Tool, I had Mode set to Color. When I changed Mode back to Normal the problem went away.

CTRL+H and CTRL+B have stopped working for Firefox. Every other CTRL command works. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Whenever I want to open my history (CTRL+H) or my bookmarks (CTRL+B), I use those commands. They've always worked. Yesterday, they mysteriously stopped working. Every other CTRL+KEY command still works flawlessly.
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary in the past few days, and I've already tried to restart my computer. What could be the cause of this?

Please try resetting your tools from Photo Bin flyout menu.
1. Open Photo bin.
2. Click on Fly Out menu
3. Click on option Reset all Tools
4. Relaunch Editor13

10.6.8 Server: Spotlight stops working for clients after fresh installation and updates

Problem:
On 2013-02-22, I reinstalled my Xserve with fresh 10.6.3 and upgraded it to 10.6.8 OS X Server. Spotlight used to be working perfectly for clients to search over the network but now it is not working. Administrators doing local spotlight search on Xserve server side is searchable. Clients with less privileges searching files across the network to the server will receive null result. Administrators searching files across the network is still working.
I believe it has something to do with the update packages and some security improvement bugs introduced in late 2012 or early 2013.
All my clients Macs are in either 10.7.5 and 10.8.2.
Can anyone confirm this? All my staff members in the company cannot do the spotlight search to the server now!

the problem can be solved if you allow the permssion of parental folder of your share points to have at least Read Only permission for User and Group:
permission: 644
User: Read&Write
Group: Read Only
Others: Read Only (or No Access)
In my case, it is strange that PCs can still do the search to the Snow Leopard Server by SMB protocol while Mac using AFP cannot even when the parental folder had permission 600. This could be a secure issue in Snow Leopard's SMB1.0 protocol. Note that SMB in Snow Leopard is SMB1.0, which is less secure and hence deprecated after Snow Leopard. From Lion onwards, all OS X uses SMB2.0 and/or SMB X.
Oh, yes, there is one more thing:
you may find your scanner using SMB protocol stopped functioning properly if you use (Mountain) Lion client and (Mountain) Lion server. It boils down to Apple's silent change of SMB protocol from SMB1.0 to SMB2.0. Solution? Use FTP protocol for now. Don't blame Apple too much because Apple had to follow the rules of GPLv3. The SMB issue will go on as Microsoft introduces its own SMB 3.0 protocol in Windows 8 while Apple introduces its SMB verison dubbed SMB X.

The tilt on my ipad 2 has stopped working, already reset back to default and loaded 6.1, still not working

Has anyone any ideas other than the Apple shop to fix the tilt issue, reset back to factory default, still not working, changed the locking position, and more or less given up. Seen lost of notices around Temple Run and how this seems to happen after installing that particular app.

You have indicated you did a restore with no affect. You don't mention specifically if it is not working with multiple applications or not. I have had one or two apps that quit recognizing the tilt. If it is just one or two apps, delete and re-download/install those apps. If it is with all apps, then you are indeed looking at a trip to Apple to get it fixed. I have two phones on one apple ID. After one updated yesterday on icloud it automatically took my contacts off and put the other ones on there. They still show up if I actually type them in when texting but not in the list.

You'll have to migrate one of the phones to a different account, then delete the other person's data from each account (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't from each account.

I have 2 group texts with the same people, and i believe they are getting mixed up

Ok, so I have 2 group texts. They have the same people in them. However, i am getting 2 peoples texts in one and 2 peoples texts in the other. And yes, ive already checked to see which one they were using and they are all using the same one, even the 2 whom im getting texts from in the different one.

The messages don't stay on the carrier servers forever. If your repair was longer than a few days you have no way of retrieving them.

Help! My tools have stopped working

I'm on a 2010 MacBook and was merrily creating pages when suddenly the selection tools turned into the Hand Tool symbol, now nothing works. What in the world would cause this? I trashed the preferences but that didn't help. Can anyone please help?

I don't mean to offend you, but I like to check and make sure you really trashed the prefs properly. It's a bit more complex for ID than some other Adobe apps if you are doing it manually.

Selection tools have stopped working

I was trying to cut out a bridge stock today, and all of my selectiont tools are suddenly acting psychotic. Whether it's a lasso or a marquee tool, they all give me this result when I try to select something:
I haven't trying restarting Photoshop, but I just wanted to know how to fix this and how I can prevent it from happening again.

I have a similar error for nessus-core2.0.9. Although when I configure other tools, such as gtk+-2.2.4, I have no problem. It checks for cc and finds cc.

directories that should be used to find executables.
Instead of adding /opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc to the $PATH, add the directory /opt/SUNWspro/bin
PATH=/opt/SUNWspro/bin:/usr/ucb:/....
Another problem: PATH contains "usr/local/bin" (NOTE: without leading / slash!), this probably needs to be
changed to "/usr/local/bin"
