Affordable prepaid SMS SIM for IOT. Do they exist?

So I have had an Iomega Helum 500GB for some time (great drive). It doesn't appear to have a proprietary adapter, but rather a 5-pin USB to SATA converter board (so I can use it as an internal drive). I've always wondered what drives are in the Helium lineup. From seeing the Iomega Select/eGo/etc disassembled, I'm guessing WD Caviar Black. But I also read about some Samsung drives making it into some of the portables. I don't want to destroy the enclosure (it would be destroyed on this model from what I can tell. The top/bottom have very little to work with, and it's soft aluminum), or void the warranty from gouges (still within a period for a short while longer), just to satisfy curiosity.

Hello everyone! Sorry if wrong forum area.
I have recently started my first real IT job two months ago and I love it. We are (were) a team of three supporting over 150 remote sites. We support a retail application for the stores.Recently one of our ex co-workers got fired two weeks ago and that pushed me to be on call.Our normal business hours are M-F 7AM - 6PM. Stores however can call at any time after 6pm and over the weekend.I started on call Monday and have worked at least 1-2 hours in the evening answering calls with Friday being a bit more occupied.Now today Saturday the calls have not stopped since about 8:30AM. At least 20 calls so far with 12 tickets opened an closed. Co worker says it stays busy like this until about 9pm...Now I am on salary at 37k and will not get any compensation for on call.Since we are down to two people...

Only two things you can upgrade on a MacBook is the Hard drive and Memory. It will not void the warranty. This is apples word on it. DIY Warranty Info

Be sure you can live with the graphics. If you do a lot of graphics work you might want to consider the MacBook Pro. I use my MacBook for video editing using Final Cut Express HD and it works well. The MB is also not very good for gaming if you are into that. The integrated chip set doesn't work well with 3D games.

Depending on your school may be a factor in what you choose. I use iWork and it is pretty good. You could also try NeoOffice or Open Office. They are good also. Office is supposed to be coming out with a new Mac version but not sure yet how it will work.
Be sure to ask for the student discount when you purchase the computer and software. It adds up.

Iweb designers for nonprofit, do they exist?

I am looking for persons who are creative iweb designers to design a site for a nonprofit. Are there any sites or companies or individuals out there that do this type of work? Once again I would like to use iweb, as I feel it will allow the nonprofit professionals to be able to update the site easily.

As long as the feature set of iWeb does not restrict your finished website then what you are proposing makes sense.
By sending them a copy of the domain.sites2 file, clients can interact at the design stage as well - if necessary.
This type of website would be better published to a commercial hosting service rather than to .Mac but the downside is that the simplicity of "one click" publishing is lost. Having said that, with good FTP software and a little instruction, most people would be able to handle updating and site maintainance.
Publishing to a commercial server has the advantage of faster and reliable service and makes it easier to optimize the data for faster download.

ESATA cars for Powerbooks - do they exist?

I've got two Lacie D2 Quadra drives (a v1 and a v2) and wondered if it was possible to take advantage of their eSATA connections using my Powerbook?

SIM card has nothing to do with your Apple ID or apps.
IOS devices do not store anything on the SIM card.
BAckup everything on the iPads.
REstore tbe ipad from the backup of the other iPad.
REpeat for the other one.

There are 2 concepts attached to a bank balance. The balance as per your books of accounts and another is the balance maintained with the bank. I believe i need not explain these 2 concepts. These 2 balances can be obtained from Oracle system provided some of prerequsities are met with.
Balance as per your books - This is nothing but the GL balance available. In order to obtain balances for each bank accounts, it is advised that each bank account should have a separate account code combination. This is achieved generally by having a separate natural account for each bank. The code combination is attached to the cahs account for each bank. By maintaining separate account code combination, the balance in each code combination can be obtained from GL (provided transactions are accounted and posted in GL). These balances represent the balance for each bank according to your books of accounts. You can create an FSG for this purpose and provide the same to the customer, so that they can run the same whenevr they want.
Balance as per bank - This balance is maintained by oracle in 2 ways - either the bank balance can be manually entered for each bank account for each date (quite cumbersome). Else, while loading the bank statement, the bank balances are also loaded. There are various types of bank balances stored - value dated balance, available balance, float balance etc. Depending on the balances provided by bank along with the bank statement, the bank balance can be recorded in oracle system. After the bank statement is uploaded and balances stored, standard cash management reports are available to query for the bank account balances. In order to view daily movement, the bank statement should be loaded on daily basis.

I have just ordered a new iPhone 5 from the apple website and it comes as an unlocked phone. Therefore I need to buy a new 'nano sim' to fit the new phone.
Does anyone know where and how I go about doing this?
I've seen that vodaphone have apparently got 500,000 of these new Nano sims in stock, but are they only for people who have bought the phone through them?
Do you know any other networks or providers that are selling the nano sim, even if you haven't purchased the phone from them?
Any advice or tips would be much appreiciated.

Which is why in the UK it is not really worth purchasing an iPhone directly from Apple - it's a no brainer. You should always purchase through the phone companies themselves and you'll get a much better deal always.
I have been with 02 on a contract since I had my first iPhone and have always upgraded for less than half the cost of the iPhone directly from Apple.
I really don't understand why someone would want to spend at least £525 to £600 on a phone from Apple when you could get it for less than half the cost with the UK phone companies, unless of course money is no object!

In what country? Virgin is a supported GSM carrier in Canada. In the US, they are a CDMA carrier. In the UK, they are unsupported. They may have Nano-SIMs there, but you'll have to ask them.

You can on the iPhone or other iOS device set the Messages app to Send as SMS if the iMessages will not go through
You can also Enable the MMS to make sure your can see replies.
It then depends, as has been said, if the person is using the same number as to whether it works to the contact details you have.
However turning Off the SMS and MMS options then the iMessages part itself will turn the Messages App off.
If you then place the iPhone in Airplane Mode, to break with the Server, for few minutes then the iPhone Number itself it "de-registered". (you have to turn Messages back On and wait for the number to Verify again if you want to use it again).

The Sims for the mac

Has anybody got the sims for the imac? I came across the sims on ebay and didnt realise they did them for the mac as well. Can anyone tell me a) how good it is (I had the pc version) and b) does it slow your computer down? Im a bit dubious when adding software to new computers!!

I had a lot of trouble with SimCity4 on my iMac. It became such a headache that I returned it to compUSA. It ran very choppy and crashed repeatedly when the city began to develop. My system FAR exceeds the system requirements for the game, and after some online research I discovered that I am not the only person to have this trouble with SimCity running on 10.4. I have also read problems concerning the SIMS2. Some of what I have read indicates that 10.3 runs the games fine, but 10.4 causes them to crash. I don't know if this is the case, but I do know that I am now very weary before dropping $50 on a game that may not perform on my computer as it claims to on the box. Some people trying to run games are talking about waiting for Mac OS updates that will allow them to run smoother.

HELLO to day 6 could be seven of no 4 g coverage on my VL600 broadband . Another run around call yesterday where of course the ask questions to see if you did anything wrong then the same things are done..{ turn off the comupter disconnect the VL600 ,, WAIT A FEW MINUTES plug the VL600 back in ..do you have 4g now....NO....well there is a ticket for this problem that was started on march 29 .... 6 days ago....3 times on the phone..it's the same thing....2 times in a chat room and no results... plus yesterday when you call verizon you press numbers and state what you are having problems with.. they connect you to someone to handle the problem but I loved yesterdays call ,,... after all the trys of getting my 4 g back up he text me a number on my iphone to call for TECH SUPPORT ... WHO was i switched to on the last 3 calls I made .... my big question is I know this is only a forum but chatting with some one from verizon 2 times.. calling 3 times where do i go next to get my broadband fix . fed up in wolcott ny

Wondering if it is a device issue. I would recommend visiting a corporate store with the laptop and VL600. It is usually easier to get a fix when someone can see what is going on. It is quite possible you need a replacement 4G SIM card. If they can't fix it in store and there is no damage to the device and you are still under warranty the rep can order a replacement if you qualify for it. I am not saying that you will get a replacement because I don't know your account specifics.
I know it's frustrating but calmly going to the store may be the solution to this issue. I hate trying to do tech support over the phone.

Hi, yeh got an adaptor from ee shop but the geezer was so rude (I think it was because I hadn't bought my phone from him but had instead gone for an online deal) & he wasn't prepared to explain what he was doing to my phone (just that it would work temporarily!) anyway, all's well, phone is working & I'm just waiting for new sim for 5C for my hubby. If that all comes through ok I'll be happy but they have taken hours of my time over the last 7 days & I have lost a lot of confidence in them. I have been with orange for years now (never a problem - maybe I was just lucky?!) but strikes me that something's rotten at the core if Misselling, rudeness & awkwardness are the way to go. Happy staff tends to mean happy customers. Get that mix wrong & your on a slippery slope.
