AFP issue with volume names

With Mac OS X 10.5 Server, I attempted to create a share point. I think I've found a bug.
I have 3 drives, with names of ServerHD, ServerHD2, and ServerHD3. Creating a share point on ServerHD2 or ServerHD3 fails, with the share point showing up in the list, but selecting it results in a message at the bottom of the Server Admin window of "The selected file system could not be found".
A closer looks at the path shows things like "/Volumes/ServerHD/3/Shared Items/Music" - note the / between ServerHD and 3 - there isn't a slash in the drive name.
Renaming the drives with a space before the number fixes the problem, but I still have the failed share points in the list, and I can't find a way to make the bad ones go away.

I've had essentially the same issue and thought that this may repair the issue in terms of creating a folder and then unsharing and I've not had and success. Seems like we may need to resort to other means.
The method I used was to actually use dscl and then navigate into /Local/Default/SharePoints and to delete out the erroneous shares. Seems to have done the trick.

  • AFP issues with 10.4.6

    Hi,
I have network of 3 Macs running 10.4.6. Two are wired and the other is my laptop and it is wireless. When I try to connect with AFP to any maching (wired to wired, wired to wireless, or wireless to wired) I get the following error:
    "Connection Failure
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again."
I get the same message when I try to connect by IP address or name.
I have IPv6 and Appletalk turned off on all machines. All machines also have static IPs and DNS info entered manually. If I scan each machine with NMAP port 548 is open and I can telnet to it. I also can see the server when I browse the network for AFP servers.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hmm thinking twice about it, sounds like MacOS-BSD idiosyncrasy...
Every time we update MacOS X the I/O and network catalog is being reset, returning most of the settings to default values (at least when dealing with default (not customized) installations)...
Your issue regarding TCP sendspace sounds like a good feedback to Apple.
I'll fire an email to the developers...
btw: mark your question as answered, it's the most interesting AFP issue I've read so far

  • Issue with file name in receiver Communication channel

    Hi Experts,
I am sending the files from SAP Application server to third party Application server.
In my source folder i have different types of files with different names.
but i need to pickup the files which is coming as of type sss_3300_was.txt and sss_3400_was.txt.
what would be the logic for this.what my understanding is if i put sss_* it will works.
If suppose the file is Exist in the folder as sss_3300_was.txt , so it will picked up and places in target folder.
and next time if the file type is sss_3400_was.txt then that will pick up and places in the target folder.
my question is, in the receiver comm channel what would be the file name scheme. i have tried with * and / but system has not been accepted as * can not be given.
Kindly suggest what should i put in Receiver CommChanne file name sheme.
    Appreciate your inputs
    Thanks,
    Bhaskar

    Hi Satish,
    Thanks for your valuable inputs.
Actually i need to change the subjet when i am asking other question...
first thing is suppose i have 10 files like sss_3100_was, sss_3300_was, sss_3400_was........sss_3900_was  in the sender application folder and should be moved to receiver [target] folder with the same name.
as you said mentioned above below is my undertsanding, please correct me if i am wrong.
    In sender cc
    1.  i will give file name as sss_*
    2. i will flag ASMA and also check file name.
    In receiver cc
    1. I will give file name as sss_*
    2. i will flag ASMA and also check the file name
The above is my understanding with respect to your inputs,  is it correct?
in receiver cc i have tried file name scheme as sss_*  but when i see the receiver CC log its telling that * is not allowed.
may be i have not flaged ASMA at that time, but now i will flag ASMA in receiver CC dose it works? just need to confirm from you.
    Regarding seconf issue.
when file is picking up from the source folder from SAP Application server as i can see file is picking up well and posting in third party folder and even in the sender cc and receiver cc logs i could see all shown in success. But when i see in the SXMB_MONI in the inbound interface the data are coming in the special charater format like @$??? and so on.But when i checked in SAP Appl server the same file contains the three lines of data like material number purchase order number and so on and it is Text file.
below mentioned are done configs for sender CC by me.
    MP: file
TP: NFS [as  it is SAP appl server]
    filepath:/
    file name: sss_*
    file type :text
                   add time stamp
                   ..... and so on
Kindly advise me if any changes are required and also provide me inputs in case any correction.
    Thanks,
    Bhaskar Reddy

  • Intel vPro with wired 802.1x issue with domain name

    Hello guys,
this issue is may not related to SCCM directly, but intel forums are really poor so i´d like to ask here...
The Case: We are currently provisioning our vPro chips with SCCM SP2 R3 and almost everthing worked as expected (Provisioning OK, OOB Console OK, PowerControl OK even TLS and Kerberos are working. But there is an issue with the 802.1x authentication. It
seems the vPro chips are not using the correct domain name. Lets say our DNS domain name is
vpro.com and the NETBIOS Name is coprvro . There are no child or other domains. vPro chips are presenting now
vpro\COMPUTERNAME$iME instead of vpro.com oder corpvro
so the Radius Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 - NPS) is saying ReasonCode 7 "...domain is not existing...". AuthenticationType and EAP Type are correct. Usually user- and computeraccounts are using
    corpvro as domain name.

    Hi Dan,
thank you for your reply. I've already done this in the second place using the SDK and winrm ($8021XProfileInstance.GetProperty("Domain")). I've no idea were SCCM is getting this domain name from. Its cutting off the top level domain extension,
may be SCCM is assuming that this equals the NETBIOS domain name but that is not the case. This is only a guess, in detail I need to know in fact on what basis SCCM is choosing the domain name, then i can fix this...
Intels SCS putting the correct NETBIOS domain name in the amt config, used certificates are the same...

  • Issues with volume

When I connect my nano to my JawBone speaker, there is a problem with volume. The volume icon appears on screen, but cannot be adjusted.

It also can't be adjusted via the JawBone. It just gets stuck. I have to reset, and it works for while and then the same problem will crop up again.

  • Issue with volume buttons on keyboard

    I have a Pavilion g7-1167dx Notebook, using Windows 8.
I've had this problem for a long time, but just got around to trying to fix it.  The raise/lower volume buttons on the keyboard usually work fine.  However, after a while (a few uses or a few days), when I press either of these buttons,  the Volume image will appear on my screen and display the current volume level, but I will be unable to actually change the volume.
To restore their usability, I need to open sndvol32 (or the volume icon on the bottom right of the screen) and change the volume any amount.  After doing so, the keyboard volume buttons begin working again.
Any idea what is causing the volume buttons to stop working as I've described?

Hello JasonScando.  I understand you're having some trouble with your volume buttons.
I'd like you try reinstalling the sound card's drivers, the HP Quick Launch software, and the HP On Screen Display.
Let me know the result and have a wonderful evening.

  • Installing JDev on a Mac with volume names that have spaces

I'm stuck on trying to install JDev on a mac. I have two volumes (factory installed) - Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD 2.
I created a symbolic link and can use that in the initial screen where I set the Middleware Home Directory and get past that fine. However, after I select the jdk, I get to the 'Choose Product Installation Directories' screen and it shows the full path (not using the symbolic link). These fields are greyed out, so I can't change the paths to use my symlink here. When I click 'Next' I get the 'The directory path must not contain spaces' error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

"though jdev is the first application I've run into after developing for a couple years on a mac that I ran into this problem"
In reality JDev isn't a native Mac OSX application, it's a linux Java application in disguise, so it's not a smart ".app" install like used elsewhere on the Mac. Thus why it uses the full volume paths I suspect.
In thinking about this issue this morning I guess another option is to rename the hard drives. This isn't ideal if you've already installed a lot of software, usually something (like JDev) has hardcoded the volume path. Also be warned a quick Google shows that some people have trouble booting their Mac after such a change (though it appears to be repairable with some sleuthing).

  • Hyperion Planning Smart View issue with Member Names & Aliases

    Hi,
Im using Smart View "Essbase" Connection to a Hyperion Planning Application, ver 11.1.1.3, however with the essbase connection i am not able to select at the smart view options to see aliases, members or both. I change the setting ( Duplicate member names allowed =true) directly at the properties of the outline in EAS, and now i am able to see the aliases, however if time I refresh using web planning/workspace this setting is undone. Furthermore i dont thing i should use it with planning. Any comments?
    Kind Regards

First of all I hope you have not changed the properties of the outline in EAS for a planning application.
For more information on using aliases in smartview have a read of :- Smartview --- Display options --- to display alias names
Also you will only be able to view member name or aliases not both at the same time.
    Cheers

  • MBP early 2007 model having issues with volume and brightness control keys (f1-f9)

My MBP, early 2007 (came with tiger 10.4 in the box) and now running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is having some weird problems with its f1-f9 keys.
For about 2 weeks now I have noticed that I cannot change the brightness and volume (especially) using these keys.
The layout of the keys on my MBP are as attached:
I tried to google the problem and tried a few diy fix-its, however nothing seems to work... and there seems to be no clear answer either. One day, during these two weeks it suddenly worked for about 2 minutes then stopped again and hasn't worked since.
Anyone experienced any similar problems? or have any idea what I can do to fix it?
As a last resort, I would eventually get a wireless keyboard to use with the MBP.

  • Cfpdfform issue with field name

We have a pdf that is filled out by ColdFusion using <cfpdfform>.  A field in the pdf was named incorrectly so there are 2 fields named the same thing (let's say "field1").  As the system has populated (many) copies of the pdf the same value has gone into both fields named "field1" when really two different values should have gone into a "field1" and "field2".
I need to get the information correctly entered into "field2" so I had two ideas...
I researched was renaming the field in all the pdfs using ColdFusion (so I could repopulate the new field) but that does not appear to be possible.  But to confirm... Can you rename a field in a pdf using ColdFusion?
If I couldn't rename it I just wanted to change what was in the second occurrence of "field1".  I tried using the index attribute of <cfpdfformparam> but that only applies to forms created in LiveCycle.  Does anyone know how to populate only one occurrence of a field name in a pdf using <cfpdfform>?
As an aside I have corrected the field name in the pdf for future use.

No, it is why advance users do not use the wizard.
Have a look at OpenOffice.org and its form creation. Once you add your fields in OpenOffice.org, just export to PDF and the form fields will be named just like you named in them in OpenOffice.org and the drop down values carry over.
