AFS Material Master - Control where sold

Hello experts,
I am new to AFS and I am loading Material Master records in my test system. I wanted to create a Material Master, assign the Master and Sales Grid to it.
My question is how might one go about using a Sales Grid, or any other piece of functionality, to control where a particular Material can be sold. Can that be maintained at the SKU level or the Material level? How can I do something like that?

Hello experts,
I understand that on the AFS Material Master there is a field for UPC code on the Basic Data tab. If you wanted to store the UPC at the SKU level (Grid level) based on Grid Values, where would you enter that data? Is it stored on the Material Master?

How to load AFS Material Master records.

Hello everyone,
I am new to loading AFS Material Master records. In the past I have simply used the Material Master direct input programs, or batch input, to load the data. Because of the extra AFS fields, I was guessing there must be a new direct input program, or batch input, for it. Maybe there is a IDOC that must be used?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you all.

Hey there again, I just wanted to bring this subject back up again.
I always took it for granted the we loaded materials in batches. We would load basic data for some materials and then extend the plant data, then sales, storloc data, warehouse data. That is a total of 5 files one after the other. I never really thought of why we did this, but now that I think about it maybe we did because it only took a little bit of data to create the basic data. When you extend the plant data, you do not need to enter in the data already created from the initial basic data load. Sales data only required so much so you could skip all the unnecessary basic and plant data.
Is that why you loaded in batches, because it is easier to extend?
If you wanted to you could have all the basic, plant, sales, purchasing data on one record if you really wanted to. Why didnu2019t you do it that way?

Updating Cnfigurable Material through IDOC to AFS material master

Hi Guru's,
Well i am trying to create a afs material through IDOC, i created all the views in the afs material master using /AFS/MATMAS type in WE19 and i got the result as well all the master data views came. But the thing is i am not able to pass the configurabile material in MRP3. As of , SDN or OSS note is saying that it is not possible to do that.
I hope there will be some possiblities to get done it. It will be greatfull if any one provide the information about it.

Hi Gurus,
Well my previous question about the creating configurable material through IDOC.?
At last we find the solution for that, as in SAP OSS note says there is nopossibility in some way and also said that STD PD field was added wrongly in /AFS/MATMAS05.
But the ultimate solution is we need to add a segment in the IDOC which contains the characteriastics will be updated automatically and add up the segment E1CUCFG.
Here is the solution:
*add up the segment E1CUCFG

Different views of material master when maintained are given a unique ID such as:
Work scheduling - A
Accounting - B
Classification - C
MRP - D
Purchasing - E
Production resources/tools - F
Costing - G
Basic data - K
Storage - L
Forecasting - P
Quality management - Q
Warehouse management - S
Sales - V
Plant stocks - X
Storage location stocks - Z
MARA-VPSTA- MARA is the master table for materials and is at client level. VPSTA tells you all the views that have been created for the material. and Plant Stock and Storage Location stock views get created automatically.
MARA-PSTAT - tells you the views that have been created manually.
MARC-PSTAT - tells you the view created manually, relevant to Plant
MARD-PSTAT - tells you the view created manually, relevant to Storage Location data (Storage)
MBEW-PSTAT - tells you the view created manually, relevant to Finance (Accounting and Costing)

Field in Material Master views

Hi SAP Experts,
I have the following issues.
1. How can the field "Material grouping" in Work Scheduling View can be made also available in General Plant data / storage 1?
2. In OMSR, there are fields MARC_MAEX, MARC_MKAL,, MARC_NOTE. These field are not assigned to any field selection groups. How can I make them to be available for use? I know how to assign them to FSG. But I could n't find them in Material Master? where these fields are placed in MM?
Need your quick inputs.

Hi,
Those fields were not available in SAP. For reference purpose you can use those fields, but you will not expect the functionality which u r getting in your legacy system. normally e will not be using all the material master fields. You can use any one of the non used field for this purpose.

There is a field in the material master record where we can fill it with the brand of the material?
There is a field specifically for this information? Maybe we can use Prod./insp.memo in basica data2 view.

Thanks for your answer. We are already using Ext. Material Group. The idea is use a field that is only informative and will not have impact in the future operations. Maybe using a field with configuration values brings problems in the future.
What are the information fields are used in this cases?
Define a new Characteristic and Class and assign the class under classification view is another alternative and very prolix but we have to update 50.000 materiales and we dont have the tool to do this activity.

Archiving material master valuation type

Hii ,
I am trying to archive material master valuation type using SARA transaction . Material is maintianed as FERT in system and we have created its valuation type as HM . Now we are trying to archive this material master HM view .
But it is throwing us error as :
MBEW: 1501 HM Dependent batch stocks exist
MBEW: 1501 HM dependent batch records exist
We have checked stock in system .... No stock present (Tried MMBE , MC.9 , Table MBEW ) .
How can I delete ths material master ? Where can I find stock ?

Archiving the Material Master
Transaction SARA contains all the SAP archiving objects for all the SAP R/3 applications modules.
A D V E R T I S E M E N T
All the SAP archive functions are shown in SARA. Choose the corresponding SAP archive object, hit enter and the archive administration menu will be shown. Provided here will be an example on how to archive the SAP Material Master.
Archive a Material Master Record
When a material is no longer required in a company or plant, you can archive and delete the material master record.
You have to Flag the material master record for deletion. This is known as logical deletion.
Before a material master record can be archived and deleted, other objects (such as purchasing documents) that refer to this material must themselves be archived. You can see which objects these are and the dependencies between them in the network graphic.
If a material master record cannot be archived and deleted at a given organizational level, the reason is given in the log (for example, a purchase order exists for the material). The log also contains technical data such as the number of material master records read and the number deleted.
Some of the archive error log message :-
Costing data exists
Use in routing
Use in sales and distribution
Use in bill of material
Delivery exists
Costing data exists
Info record exists
Purchase order exists
The Archiving steps :-
Archiving object MM_MATNR for archiving material master records.
You can display the archived data, but not reload it.
To archive the material master, first goto transaction MM71.
Type in a variant name and click Maintain. (Tick the Test Mode for archive simulation).
Save the variant.
Maintain the Start date and Spool parameters and click execute.
Click Goto Job Overview to check the archive status.
To do a permanent delete, goto transaction SARA and click Delete button.
Maintain the Archive Selection, Start date and Spool parameters.
Click Test Session for testing or click execute to start the deletion program.
Click Goto Job Overview to check the delete status.
Now, if you goto MM02/MM03, you will not be able to find the record in the material master.

Change of price control in material master

Hi, SAP experts,
We have business scenario where the procurement type in MRP-2 view of material master gets changed from F to E that is an externally procured item will be manufactured inhouse.
In such case in costing view the price control needs to be changed from V to S. If both MAP & std. price are not identical, system is not allowing to change. Secondly since the item will be manufactured inhouse from now onwards, I have to run the cost estimate & update the master.
How do I deal with the situation.
Valuable advice is awaited.

Hi Shankar,
When the price control indicator is "V", system will allow changing the Standard price manually through Transaction code MM02.
Similarly when the price control indicator is "M", system will allow changing the Moving average price manually through Transaction code MM02.

I am trying to understand the purpose of Control Code(MARC-STEUC) field in Material master- Foreign Trade imports tab. I am also interested in knowing where does this field appear in our PO.

Normally control code specifies the norm to follow by the supply plant for a sale of exposrts. each contry will have a set of rules to get follow as a stuatory . this code specifies the rules or certificates.

Kindly check in OS54.
Under Revision Level, unselect the check box Rev. Level active. If you want that automatic, you can go for Rev. Lev. Automatic. Before doing any changes in config, please explore pros & cons of the same.
For routing, in OP5A, set the field selection as Change Number - Input

Control of Inspection Lot Creation in Material Master settings

1 for each document material, batch ,storage location
2 for each material, batch ,storage location .
X for PO , batch and storage location .
for each material document item
In the Control inspection settings of material master
i Can't understand the logic by F1 help .

These setting are done for controling the creation of inspection lots
1) If you want to create an inspection lot to all the goods receipt then you have to choose
' ' An inspection lot for each material document item .An inspection lot is created for each item in the goods receipt document.
2) X for PO , batch and storage location .
An inspection lot is only created during the first goods receipt for each PO item . Means if you have a PO item with quantity 50. and you make a GR for the same PO for 10 quantity an inspection lot will be created. But if you make again GR for the PO item inspection lot will not be created. Those item will go directly to unrestricted. This holds good if the PO item is same, batch number is same and aslo the storage location
3) 2 for each material, batch ,storage location
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for each material and batch. This setting is only advisable for materials with a batch management requirement. Again material, batch number and storage location should be same
4) '1' for each document material, batch ,storage location
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for a material document (in a goods receipt transaction) for each material. This setting is useful, if several purchase orders or partial deliveries are processed for the same material in a goods receipt transaction.

can anyone give me a prictical example of
1. 'X' An inspection lot for each purchase order item/order item
2. '1' An inspection lot for each material document and material
3. '2' An inspection lot for each material and batch
If my requirement is to create one inspection lot out of several batches made from a production order( eg, 10 batches are created, only 1st one needed for RR and UD), which one should I use?

Hi,
the concept of batch comes when there are some property changes (property in terms of business, that may be quality or something else). if you are confirming production order partially, it means there is something that changes with batches. that's why std sap does not allow to create single lot though all those batches have been created from same production order.
and henceforth, your requirement cannot be fulfilled by any config. you can try for development.
