After 1.1.2 external speaker volume is barely audible?

After I updated my iPhone to 1.1.2 the external speaker is barely audible (ie ringer, keypad clicks, etc) I've checked all settings and the silent switch? Unfortunately I left for vacation and can't try a complete restore. I've have reset the phone also.
Anyone else having this issue?

the same thing happened to me where the only way people could hear me was having the speaker on, what i did was plug it in to your dock and insert the ear phones, and make a call all while in the dock after the call is complete make a call with the ear phones out of the phone and thake the phone out of the dock, it worked for me after that and everything is fine now.

  • External speaker volume

Hi, I have a 32 GB itouch and i can't seem to find the settings for the external speaker volume. I've had the itouch for a while and just figured that it didn't come with external speakers but a friend of mine just got a new 16GB itouch and when she pulls out the headphones, the external speakers come on.
My itouch is close to a year old so is my guess that older models don't have external speakers right?

If your Touch does NOT have volume buttons on the left edge of the device, you have a 1st gen Touch which does not have an external speaker. Honestly, I have both a 1st and 2nd gen. The external speakers aren't really very useful.
    Best of luck.

  • TA24826 After plugging in an external speaker, now no sound at all anywhere

I plugged in an external speaker and it never worked. When I went back to using the internal speakers, they stopped workig. What to do?

Could be the Jack inards never closed, insert it afain & jiggle a bit.
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • External Speaker volume weak

I have searched the discussions to find an answer to my problem, none found yet. I have Logitech powered external speakers with a sub. Worked great on my G4, but since using them on my new iMac the sound volume has been cut drastically. I have to crank the system vol to max and the speaker vol almost to max to get any decent sound, and when I do that the speakers start to get a lot of noise.
I believe I have plugged in my jack as far in the headphone jack as I can, but nothing seems to work.
I have read other peoples issues with external speakers and didn't know if it warranted a trip to the apple store, as we finally have one in town.
    Any help would be welcomed

You may need to adjust the configuration in Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup. The default setting for Properties For: Built-in Output should be Source: Headphones, 44100.0 Hz, 2ch-24bit

  • IPod touch low external speaker volume

I have a set of speakers at work I used to play music with my Ipod shuffle plugged into them.
Just upgraded to an Ipod touch (5th generation), but now when I connect it to the speakers the volume is very low.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?  Thanks very much!

Thank you for trying.  No,  we're in the USA where it's legal to blast out everyone's ears. I think it's most likely a setting I'm not familiar with.  The Ipod shuffle - that little tiny thing, blasted loud and clear.

  • Locking the volume on external speaker

My grandson is autistic and always has his ipad.  He has it in airports, on airplances, in stores, etc.  I know you can lock the volume on the ipad but that is only if you are using ear buds or headphones which he does not use.   Does anyone know if you can lock the external speaker volume so it's not so loud and disturbing to other people?  If not Apple this is something you need to address.

You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • Internal speaker volume output is not loud anymore

  • External bluetooth speaker volume to low

    Hello,
I have an external bluetooth speaker from jawbone called jambox. From the start on I had the normal speaker volume like I also stil have it if I connected the bluetooth speaker with my iPod touch. But some day ago, the volume from my whole Mac (not just from iTunes) dropped through my Jawbone. It is not just about 40% of that, what I know of, that the Jawbone Jambox is able to bring.
This problem exists through all audio / video programs on my Macbook Pro. So like in iTunes, also in VLC or MplayerX. Everywhere. The software sound of MacOS Lion is on maximum. Also the sound control of the jambox itself is reached. It seems like there is a protection against to high volume anywhere turned on which just do not allow me to turn up the volume beyond a specifc point of db.
But, I can only repeat: The speaker is in a good shape. I am able to play music much more louder with my iPod paired. But just not with my macbook. I am looking for a "hidden" option to disable the maximum volume limitation of my Mac to the speaker.
Would be happy if anyone know a solution for that issue...

    Same issue
Works fine on my HTC thunderbolt, Even works fine on my brothers Mac (same year and OS build).
My audio used to work fine through my bluetooth adapters but now the audio is way lower than it should be. This is a recent problem, it worked fine before. I believe an update may have cuased this, then again my brothers mac is working just fine even after the update. I even tried switching the bluetooth adapter and it still has the problem so I know its my Mac.
    Please fix this issue...
Me and my brother Both have 2011 Macbook Pros, running 10.7.4 and the adapters are Blackberry adapters used to receive the audio from my mac and play through my home entertainment system via aux jack from the bluetooth adapter.

  • My iPod Touch will not play through external speakers when it is docked.  It only plays through it's internal speaker.  All the other functions on the iPod can be controlled by the external speakers (volume, track, etc).  How do I fix this?

My iPod Touch will not play through external speakers when it is docked.  It only plays through it's internal speaker.  All the other functions on the iPod can be controlled by the external speakers (volume, track, etc).  How do I fix this?

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • After installing ios7 on my iphone4s I essential have lost speaker volume on and off

I lose speaker volume on and off after installing ios7 update on iphone4s. I reset my phone and then it just started again with the problem. It fixed it briefly

Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. This will not affect data. Remove the car speakers from the phone under Bluetooth, and remove the phone from the car stereo. After that place both devices back into pairing mode and reconnect.

  • Speaker Volume changed after 10.4.10 Update

    Hi.
I updated to 10.4.10 recently and since then my speaker volume has gone quieter. i can barely hear something for example when i have 3 bars on the built-in onscreen volume meter.
I know that the speakers in my powerbook were better than those in my macbook pro, but this volume thing makes me crazy.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks & Greets, Oli

    Hi Oli,
It takes some time but here's how..
Backup your User folder and all other data you want backed up/saved.
Boot from the OSX dvd, erase the drive and re-install a fresh system (probably 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 that came on ur dvd) after installing run all software updates but ignore the 10.4.10 one.
After software update tells you all that remains is the 10.4.10 update go to the apple downloads p-age and download the 10.4.9 (not combo) updater and run it.
Ur now back on 10.4.9, restore your backups and everything should be back to normal.
Use disk utility to verify/repair permissions before and after updates.
It takes a bit of work but downgrading was well worth the effort for me.
    Cheers

  • IMac- External Bose speaker volume is suddenly low

I can't figure out what happened between yesterday and today but suddenly my speaker volume is really low. I've read the forums and tried some different things but I can't seem to get the volume that I normally have... disturbing. Any thoughts?

Not a hardware/sofward issue, user error. Someone used the volume slider bar on the Spotify app. Didn't even know that existed but issue resolved.

  • External Speaker big pop/buzz when connecting or disconnecting audio cable

My external speakers make a big buzz/pop every time I connect or disconnect the stereo mini 1/8" plug into the headphone jack -- if the speakers are turned up high at the time, it's enough to blow them.
This doesn't happen with headphones - just external powered sound. If I turn the external speakers way down or off, there is no pop/buzz when connecting; muting the sound through the Macbook Pro has no effect.
This happens on all external speaker systems I've tried (including the Soundsticks currently), and regardless of whether the MB is plugged in to power or not, and with or without any other external USB or Firewire devices attached. I've also tried various cables & connectors -- always the same result. This does not happen with the same speakers on an older iMac.
I've spoken to a couple other MB owners who have the same problem.
Any way around this? It would be easy enough to turn off the external speakers next the MB every time I plug or unplug -- but with it feeding 3 stereo systems throughout the house, it's a bit much every time...
    Thanks!

    {quote:title=Neville Mayfield wrote:}
The problem is caused by contact made with the components of the socket as it slides into its correct position. It is a small electrical charge that bridges the plug & socket segments and not related to the current sound setting on the MBP.
    I assume you like high volume from your speakers, much more than I would choose to have! I do get a slight buzz & pop myself and to my recollection always have done in 23 yrs of using computers.{quote}
With all do respect, this is not the problem here. I have the same problem as described by the thread starter, and having worked in the audio producing industry for many many years I can say with certainty that what you are describing is something else.
Sure, the traditional "high-volume-on-AMP-while-connecting-signal-source" issue is still present, as it is with any product you connect like that, but this is different: when a headphone is inserted, you can hear a clearly audible "click" followed by a very noticable humming/buzzing sound. It is almost like the machine has "fired up the audio engine" and you get to hear the idle sound.
If I play music in iTunes, stop playing, leave the headphone connected, the humming/buzzing disappears after a while, and when I press play on iTunes, the same "click/humming/buzz" is heard, even though I haven't pysically touched the connector.
