After 10.4.6 update, cannot connect to ichat
Last night i downloaded the new 10.4.6 update. Today I turned on my computer and tried to log into ichat, but it was taking a long time to connect. After a while, I got the error message "Could not connect to AIM - could not connect to AIM. Try Again. The server message was Auth:ResvLinkError"
If it is the AIM server, I'm not sure why this problem started after I updated. Any explanations? could it be a bug?
G5 Dual 2 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.6) iChat AV 3.1.4 (v432)
did you try connecting through AOL instant messenger application? if it doesn't work then its aim, if it does work its ichat.

Facetime between iPad2 and MacBook Air worked fine here in the USA. The iPad2 is now in Rome, Italy and we can't connect internationally. We both can hear the caller ringing in and can see who is trying to call, but after accepting the call we cannot connect. No voice, no video. iPad is successfully sending and receiving eMails, but no Factime connection What's up?
I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on. Have you tried Skype? Did you talk to the hotel staff? My husband is traveling to Milan in a couple of days and I wonder if he will run into the same issue. He has had no problems from Istanbul but he is staying in a corporate apartment there. If you find an answer please post back. Thanks

After 10.7.2. update cannot see SD card reader in usb drive. Used to appear on desktop and start iPhoto but now nothing happens. It is recognised by system profiler (usb hub), but cannot find it anywhere. Any ideas?
Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

After 10.6 update, cannot connect to remote speakers
After I updated itunes on my windows 7 (64 bit) machine to version 10.6.1.7, itunes does not show my remote speakers connected through an airport express. My windows XP machine with itunes version 10.5.3.3 does show my remote speakers and can stream music to them through the airport express. Both machines are on the same network behined the same firewall. Furthermore all other "i" products in the house can stream through the airport express to the remote speakers (2 iphones & 2 ipads). Nothing has changes except for the Win 7 itunes upgrade to 10.6.1.7. Is there a way to roll back the itunes upgrade? Or is there a fix for 10.6.1.7?
Ok, I've just done that. An error message came up, with half an email address so I changed the year date back and opened passbook.. Then it asked to connect to iTunes, it didn't display the "cannot connect.." message, just showed loading and the wheel going around for ages. Regretting this update, so much hassle. Thank you for your help so far though. Seems like so many people are having the same problems :(

I have an iPhone 4, 8gb and have just downloaded iOS 6...
I am so disappointed!
My iTunes store fails to open or connect to anything. Passbook fails to launch properly- asks to connect to iTunes store, then fails because that doesnt work either.
Where my carrier in the top left is meant to say Orange (I'm in the U.K) it now says "EE". I'm frustrated. This took over an hour to do and it's done nothing but mess up my phone. Please sort it out!!Ok, I've just done that. An error message came up, with half an email address so I changed the year date back and opened passbook.. After ios 5 update cannot connect to home wifi
it worked just before i installed ios 5 and now I cannot connect to my wifi. iphone still connects
Same for me.
I have to reset my comcast modem to get the iphone to submit the password.
Otherwise i just get a message "unable to connect to HOMExxxx"
After I reset the modem then I get the password request.
Password should be retained in the iPhone.
Got the iPhone connected on Sunday night and then Monday morning had to go through the whole routine again.
Comcast password is many characters so this is problematic. -

IOS 6 update - cannot connect to wifi with proxy
We have 300 IPad 2's to configure and they cant connect to our wifi. Since the upgrade we can no longer connect our proxy network as we did before. We use an explicit proxy where we manually enter the proxy address. WPA2 Security. We contacted Apple support and after an hour they said they didn’t know how to resolve the issue and needed to research. This was 5 days ago so im reaching out to the Apple community. We contacted our proxy support BlueCoat and they have escalated the issue to their top level support. After the iOS 6 update we are basically dead in the water.
We select DHCP under our network settings and select Manual under the http Proxy settings. After filling in the Server, port, authentication info and try to connect, it immediately brings up a safari page that states "Error Opening Page - Hotspot login cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server".
The other issue we have even with iOS 5 is we could not connect to https sites. Our school is having a similar problem with the iPads that were updated to iOS6. We don't use a proxy but we have a Sonicwall and the user has to login to the Sonicwall before the device can have Internet access.
Here is what I have found and maybe it will help you. The problem (for us) is that immediately after the iPad is connected to our Wifi it tries to contact the Apple servers in California. This connection is blocked by the firewall because the user has not had the opportunity to login to the firewall. The iPad opens a screen that is not part of Safari to allow the user to log into the firewall but they can't because a pop-up window is needed and this application has no settings to allow pop-ups. Under normal circumstances the user would open Safari and login but if we try to switch to Safari it cancels the connection attempt and disconnects from the Wifi. Obviously, this means we no longer have a connection to our Sonicwall.
The trick I am using to make it work is this. (Keep in mind, we don't normally use proxy settings). I set the http proxy setting for the particular network to AUTO. This causes enough confusion in the iPad that, if I am quick enough, I can open Safari and log into the firewall real quick. Once that is done it will work fine....until the user goes to a different access point. -
Updated AirPort via Software Update-- cannot connect to internet now.
Hello, my father has been using his Macbook for a few months now and I noticed there were updates he hadn't installed, one updating Airport to 1.2.2. After the update and an intel Firmware update we cannot connect to the internet! Airport tells me that we're connected to the network, however both Firefox and Safari cannot navigate to webpages, nor can iTunes connect to the iTunes music store. Note: we are using a Linksys WRT160N router and we did have the Macbook working flawlessly prior to the update.
Hi
Try these two suggestions:
First, go to your Utilities folder>Keychain Access.app. Open the application. In the Keychains menu>Keychain First Aid. Select "repair". If errors appear, rerun until you get a clean pass.
Close the app., then restart computer/Safari and try the connection.
If no go, then reapply the 10.4.10 combined update. Do not use the computer while the installer is running. When complete, "repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. Sometimes reapplying the combo update corrects file problems in OS X.
If that doesn't work, either the problem is specific to the cable box, or you may need to reinstall OS X.

Updates cannot connect to itunes store
In Apps, App Store, Update, the indicator has the red circle with the white number 1. When I touch the update icon, I receive the message: Cannot connect to itunes Store - OK. How do I clear this error?
Demo, thank you for your help. After posting this question, I finally found another thread on this very topic that was more than just another request for help with the issue, but had no responses. In my case, the answer by synyster156 resolved the problem. Prior to following synster156's instructions, I closed my browser so that no programs were connected to the internet. I don't know if this was necessary, but anyway, it worked for me.
- In Win 7, go to "Start>All Programs>Accessories>" right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".
- In the Command Line Interface window and at the propmpt "c:\windows\system32>" enter
netsh winsock reset and then press the enter key.
- After this command is run, you should get a message stating that windows has successfully reset the winsock catalog.
- To complete the rest, close out any open programs/windows and "Restart" your computer.
synyster156 said that if the above steps didn't correct the problem, then read this article:

Fortunately, for me, the reset of the winsock solved my problem. -
App Store Updates (but only Updates) cannot connect to iTunes Store
The App Store icon on my homescreen shows I have 6 updates waiting to download.
When I go to App Store > Updates it says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".
I can browse online with Safari so have internet connectivity. Every other tab in the App Store (e.g. Top 25) connects and I can download new apps. I can also access the iTunes store by using the iTunes icon - I can view and download anything from iTunes. The ipod touch can therefore connect to the iTunes Store, but for some reason the App Store Updater cannot.
I'm using OS 5.1.1, have searched the forums, shutdown and restarted the ipod, checked the DNS, logged out and in of my iTunes account, used different wi-fi networks, but no progress. Any tips would be massively appreciated !Thanks schan20, this worked perfect. I closed all apps, double tapping home key from home screen, turned set date and time automatically off, clicked set daate and time, changed year to 2014. I then opened updates on apps and got the security message, went back to set date and time, turned on set automatically, opened app store back up (did not force close after security message) , got to loading and had 21 apps to update
Not sure what caused this initially; but some things I had done in the past were, I had set date and time auto off, I had changed the date and time numerous times in a row for the game deer hunter reloaded to get gold, most of the time stopping around August each time. Other than that, I have not made any major changes or added any apps when it stopped working. -
Problems with AppStore updates (Cannot connect to iTunes store)
My iPads cannot update apps via the AppStore. Selecting update in the AppStore generates a "Cannot connect to iTunes store" error. This appears to be related to my home network since I can update if I connect to other wifi networks. All of my iPads are wifi only.
Interestingly enough, I can connect to the iTunes app directly... The problem is when I connect via updates. Likewise, none of the other computers (both Mac and PCs) have any problems connecting to the iTunes store.
I have searched in vain for any firewall considerations that I should accommodate.
My network uses a Linux box as the router/firewall. It is running iptables (managed by firestarter) and safesquid as a proxy server that is set up to run in transparent proxy mode. I have checked all the logs and can't see where this is causing a failure, so I am at a loss.
Does anyone know what ports the AppStore would need for updates? Does anyone know if a transparent proxy would be a problem for the updates?
Any help troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated.Demo, thank you for your help. Software Update Cannot connect and Safari cannot connect to URLs
I have copied this problem report from the Safari forum in the hope that I may get some additional help here.
This morning I went to the local library and connected to the internet directly using airport to their WAN. So I now know my problem is independent of the weird dial up arrangement I have at home.
Safari still does not open the sites. It gives a message "Cannot open page "x" because it cannot connect to server "X""
When I open Firefox all my sites are working normally. (I also downloaded and installed Firefox 3 this morning)
I have reset Safari but that does not help.
I have even downloaded the latest greatest version of safari (the beta 4) but it exhibits the same problems
When I invoke Software Update it claims I am not connected to the internet. Does this depend on Safari? Is there a preference I can change to make it work through Firefox
When I invoke internet connect diagnostics it says my internet connection is working normally.Hi Steve,
Great clues there!
FF uses it's own Proxy & DNS settings for a couple of things, where Safari & other Apple Apps use System Preferences.
First, Go to System Preferences>Network, Show Airport>Proxies tab, make sure no Proxies are set.
Second, Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Airport Interface...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then Apply
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers. -
