After 10.5.8 update no shut down, Finder, Dock, program folder issues
Hi all,
I've seen and read similar topics to these issues but as the given tips couldn't help me I open another topic.
Yesterday I installed the 10.5.8 update. Since then I cannot access the Dock, it even doesn't show up, the Finder does not let me access the program folder and my Mac doesn't shut down at all, only by using Contol, Command and Power (sorry, does not know the proper terms in English).
I tried to repair the disk by using Disk Utility from the initial DVD and it did repair a lot of stuff. In the end, it shows "Keys out of order" in red and that my disk could be repaired but one volume couldn't. If I try to repair permissions it doesn't even start saying something of "... inaccessible ...".
After trying this no change in my issues.
What could I do more?

EDIT: Erase the Disk with DU, yes. But don't install the system, if you want to do a full TM restore.

Since upgrading to iOS 6,my 4s freezes up, and I have had to restore it once already. Today it looks like I will need to do it again, as I cant even submit my passcode after entering it. Try:
- Reset the iPhone. Nothing will be lost
Reset: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPhone. -
Photoshop CC 2014 stops working after less than 30 second and shuts down
I have installed and uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014 three or four times via Creative Cloud and each time it stops working after less than thirty seconds and shuts down the program. I then installed a an older version of Photoshop CS5.1 from a CD and it works perfect. I also have Illustrator CC 2014 and Lightroom 5 installed from Creative Cloud and both work flawlessly. What can I do to get Photoshop CC 2014 working?
You have not provided any system information or crash logs, so we can't really know.

From apple say even a year has not passed it is not under garancy and I should pay to fix it without ans issue.

Windows 8/8.1 - No Option for "Install Updates and Shut Down"
We’ve got a handful of Windows 8 workstations and I’ve noticed that users don’t get the “Install Updates and Shut Down” option when they shut their systems down. Nor do they get the updates icon in the notification area.
Instead, all they get is the following message at the logon screen:
There is no way I can expect my users to do this.
I need to ensure that the updates are installed when the user shuts down.
There must be a way of configuring Group Policy to allow Windows 8 workstations to prompt to install updates when the user shuts down.
I cannot implement an option whereby updates are installed automatically without the user being aware. If updates start installing automatically then there is the potential for loss of work if a user is away from their desk for a long period of time and
their system just restarts to complete the installation.
Our current group policy settings are below. This works fine for the Windows 7 workstations.
I presume others have experienced this? Can anyone offer any guidance?

You're correct. It's not. Microsoft has some overzealous contractors who seem to think any response is "the answer". I've unmarked the post, because, in fact, it was merely "additional information" which may or may not have addressed the
original issue.
I, like the original poster, have several computers that do NOT offer 'Install Updates' in any of the power menus and definitely do NOT install the updates during either a restart or a shutdown.
Now *THAT* is an entirely *DIFFERENT* situation than what the Original Poster has offered here, so the appropriate thing for you to do is to start a NEW THREAD and fully describe the environment and symptoms of the problem and what you've done (if anything)
to try to identify, isolate, or remediate the undesirable behavior.
The PCs I have are Windows 8.1 installed from a partner copy of Windows 8 and upgraded.
I'm intrigued with this "partner copy of Windows 8" thing. Have you asked "the partner" what they customized in the installation image before you actually installed the product???
Can someone please offer a SOLUTION as opposed to parroting what SHOULD happen.

unable to bootup after Yosemite install. have to keep shutting down from rear button. it does come on after a few times but then hangs at user login again. If you get in it is great. Seems faster than Mavericks but there is some sort of issue, bootup /login.
Knock on wood, this seems to have been my problem as well. I stumbled on this thread after dealing with this ridiculously-long boot times for the past several weeks.
I just reinstalled McAfee Antivirus and my Macbook Air booted up in less than 1 minute. No more hanging on the boot-up progress bar. No more hanging after I click on my user's avatar on the log-in screen. Bootup would often take 5+ minutes and sometimes never complete.
This has been SUPREMELY frustrating.

Dreaded SP3 "Install Updates and Shut Down"?
Help! My t400 just started insisting as a default choice "install updates and shut down" when I try to shut down.
It used to just go with the last thing I chose - so if I hit the off botton last time and said restart, that would pop up this time.
NOW, it wants to "install updates." What updates? I did something in windows update that was supposed to block the installation of Service Pack 3, but now I'm scared to death that SP3 is trying to hijack my machine.
Is there a way to a) find out exactly what updates it wants to install, and b) go back to how things were - when I hit the power botton my last shut down choice (sleep, restart etc) is what comes up?????

While performing a system update, I shut down my iPod touch. Can the pictures on my iPod be recovered if my iPod was not backed up?
iPod is fourth generation, the system update was a little over half complete.
I want to get the pictures off the iPod so that I can keep them. Is there any way to do this?Maybe,

I have Elements 10 and every time I go to open a file in the editor it shows its thinking and then it just shuts down the entire program. I have a big wedding I am working on and lots of other sessions. Please PLEASE help!!!!
And you are quite persistent, Menu Boy, in offering pernickety and pointless prattle, in response to a "support page" on iPad's buggy Pages App.
Let's summarise, for those reviewing this threadless thread for app support..
Mobile pages works reliably for simple docs, especially creating letters and Menus for Microsoft's Kindy canteen (even on special days with nice big pictures).
When importing more complex docs and/or working with larger creations, it is prone to randomly corrupting files upon re-opening, along similar lines as Word (running on a PC).
So, Menu Boy, do they let you sneak into classes every now and then? What is the secret to their training? My iPad is acting funny after 6.1.3 update the only way I see fixing this issue to downgrade but I can't find anything on downgrading
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

I had 5 videos that I could see in videos apps. But after your last OS update I can't find them on my iPhone. I can see them on the pc in itune when I connect the iPhone and go to videos directory.
When syncing, check the Movies/TV Shows Tab in the iPhone menu, and make sure ALL movies are synced (or select the ones you want to sync)

After Updates on Shut down, I see HPInvent logo and Windows doesnt run
Been working out some bugs. Was using this laptop for work and work was always installing this and that for us to use. Bad medicine! Computer quit working correctly. After awhile I opened it up again to apply new knowledge. Explorer would not respond and chrome and firefox wouldnt launch. I noticed upon shut down there were updates, 74 of them. I let it run, I went to bed. This morning, I receive the HPInvent logo for a few seconds, screen then says Starting windows... it flips back over to the HPInvent logo and repeats... The only think I can do is press escape upon HPInvent logo and get to the start up menu. I've ran and researched all of the 5 choices given there. I have removed all USB items and unplugged and held the power button for 30 seconds. Nothing is making any difference. Any suggestions?
Sorry to hear of your problem, but any hardware in a computer can fail - that includes the hard drive, the logic board, etc, etc. Fortunately, it usually doesn't happen that soon; however, I've read of hard drives failing within 6 months.
So, since you did not purchase the extended Applecare Protection Plan (3 years coverage), you will need to make a decision to repair or sell it as is. I would always purchase 3 year coverage for an all in one or a laptop because repairs are expensive and at least I'd be covered for 3 years.
We can't speculate on whether there should be a recall or not; these forums are for user to user assistance with technical problems. In your case, there is nothing we can help with since you've already gotten a diagnosis.
