spBe aware that while someone could give up a training course for RAC, unless that is the Oracle course at the Oracle price it will not be eligible as youe hands on course.
While for people with access to the money using the RAC course as training and for OCP hand course fulfillment is a great choice, quite frankly it probably isnt the right option for those with limited funds.
the RAC course is typically most expensive, howeer some of the 2 or 3 day courses are less expensive, though you might not find them as revelevant. Also half of a huge amount is still a huge amount.
If really needing certification the cheapest route may be to take a 9i WDP DBA program to gain 9i OCP, if money is a big issue that may be a route worth exploring. Gaining the 9i OCP should also then generate the 10g OCP.

  • Differences between 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053 and 11g OCP

    Hi All
    I have a small dilemma
For Christmas I was given a copy of OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide with CD-ROM: Exams 1Z0-051, 1Z0-052, 1Z0-053 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Database-All-Guide-CD-ROM/dp/0071629181/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262090730&sr=1-5|http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Database-All-Guide-CD-ROM/dp/0071629181/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262090730&sr=1-5]
As you will see in the book title it covers 1Z0-051, 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053
About a year ago I attended the following courses
    TT - Oracle D/B 10g Program PL/SQL-QA-IQ
    TT - Oracle PL/SQL - GK
TT - Oracle 10g Intro to SQL
I have been meaning to get round to taking my exams and OCA qualification is no problem as I can take 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 using the above book and the knowledge I gained on the course (even though the course was 10g).
But my question surrounds 11g OCP and how it requires instructor led training - now I have done my 10g course but I guess this wont count as an instructor led course for 11g OCP.
If not then im going to need to take the route of 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 to get OCP and 1Z0-050 to upgrade to 11g
So I would ask how safe I would be learning the above mentioned book and taking the 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 exams. I understand there is no accurate answer as it is subjective but if 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053 (11g) knowledge covers 1Z0-042 and 1Z0-043 (10g) knowledge then there should be no problem, right?
I really dont want to have to take the book back or purchase another.
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

RobYour'e thinking sensibly about this. Well done. And the hands on course needs to be considered carefully and I often say this can be deciding factor in planning.
IMHO there is at least 80% commonality between the topics for 1z0-042 AND 1Z0-052 .... and probably similar for 1z0-043 and 1z0-053 whoug I've never directly checked this and there may be a greater divergence there.
Be aware some topics in 1z0-050 will not be covered in the books you have as far as I am aware.
One option you have not considered is taking exams in this order ..... this will give you 10g OCP and 11g OCP. This is wha I did .... but it mainly occured that for me way as the 1z0-053 was fairly delayed into production and I wanted the certificates I could have as soon as possilble .... ie 10gDBAOCP and 11gDBAOCA. I actually did the 1z1-053 beta for my 11g DBA OCP ... cheaper than 1z0-050 as I already had 11g DBA OCA.
    1z0-051 1z0-042 1z0-052 1z0-043 1z0-053.
I know you dont want to buy another book, but the 10g ones from Sybex (and associated CDROM's) give a slightly different viewpoint (though they are for 10gR1 and are not updated for 10gR2 topics). IMHO the sybex books can ometimes go a little over the top in some areas. But all these books can contain some errors ... however they do provide an extra set of practice questions. However it is an option for you.
Its worth registering your 10g course as a hands on course as soon as reasonably possible to ensure there are no issues with it (I assume you have attended the course from Oracle University).
Anyway these are my thoughts. But you know your own circumstances and are responsible for your own decisions. Good Luck.

  • 1Z0-043 10g Admin II Exam material

    Hi all
I've passed my 10g OCA, so gearing up for the 10g OCP exam (1Z0-043).
I will be working from the Watson / Bersinic book, and am also booked on the ADMIN WORKSHOP II 5 day Hands On course. My question concerns marrying up the topics in the book and the course, with what is in the syllabus.
The Hands On course description here:
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D17312&source_call=#4
..mentions topics relating to Database Security (VPD's), Data Movement (data pump, external tables etc) & VLDB's. By my reckoning Data Movement was covered in the OCA 1Z0-042 exam, and Database Security & VLDB's are not mentioned in the syllabus here, nor are they mentioned anywhere in the Watson book.:
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_043#3
I know the syllabus is subject to change, and the Watson book has some crossover in terms of 1z0-042 & 043 material, but this would appear to be a large ommission. Primarily, I wish to ensure that I don't need to revisit data pump, nor cover the Security & Large Database material - the source of which would only appear to be available via the Hands On course / Oracle documentation anyway.
    Comments welcome....
    Thanks
    bt

If a topic is not listed in the topics provided on the exam page (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_043#3), it will not be on the exam.

  • 1Z0-043 Oracle DB 10g: Admin II Self Study CD has many errors

Many slides have errors in 1Z0-043 Oracle DB 10g: Admin II Self Study CD. I keep trying to report these to Oracle Education and I am getting the runaround. Does anybody know if in these cases you should answer it wrong like the Self Study CD tells you it should be, or when they grade the test do they really know the correct answer. The most blatant case of this is a slide in the Post Assessment of "ASM and Materialized Views", "Materialized Views", "Distributed Data Technologies". The slide in the Post Assessment has the description "Match the different distributed data technologies with their descriptions". Out of 4 pairs to match, all 4 are wrong compared to what it says in the course material just before it! Please HELP! This is just one example of many errors on this CD. Do you have to answer these questions wrong when you take the test?

    Hi,
Please note that the Certification Team does not create the self-study CDs. I am sorry you are having difficulty with these CDs. I can assure you that you should NOT intentionally answer questions incorrectly on the test. The certification tests are not taken directly from training materials.

  • Can i take 1z0-042 (10g admin 1)  after 1z0-007 Oracle 9i

    Hello ! I have a query about Oracle Certification 10g admin 1 (1z0-042).
    I have passed 1z0-007 Oracle SQL 9i in december 28 , 2012.
Now i have decided to complete OCP DBA track in Oracle 10g.
    My Questions are,
    1. should i need to upgrade?
    2. Does1z0-042 complet my OCA ?
    3. Will I have a choice to complete OCP by taking 1z0-043 ?
    according to this link
Oracle Exam 1Z0-007 Is Being Retired: What Does That Mean to Me?
    it's clear that i can take 1z0-042 exam having previous passed1z0-007 (SQL 9i) .
I am just asking this for my complete satisfaction before i am preparing for next exam.
    thanks...

    1. should i need to upgrade?
    2. Does1z0-042 complet my OCA ?
    3. Will I have a choice to complete OCP by taking 1z0-043 ?
I'm going to answer these out of order:
    2. Yes. Passing 1Z0-042 would make you an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate.
    3. Once you have the 10g OCA, if you pass 1Z0-043 and complete the required hands-on training, you would become an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional.
    1.  Once you are at step three (i.e. a 10g OCP), you can upgrade to 11g... and soon to 12c. This is good from a career standpoint, but I would not go to the extreme of saying you need to.  If it comes to that, you don't need to become certified at all. Certification can help in your career as an Oracle DBA, but it is not a requirement.

  • What next after 1z0-451 certification

    Hi All,
I have passed 1z0-451 exam with good marks, now I am thinking what should be the next step, please clarify my following query:
    1) Which certification related to Oracle SOA Suite 11g middware should I prepare, I found 1z0-102 on Oracle site, are there any other certifications?
    Help appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi
I'm planning to go for 1z0-451 exam. Would you please share your learning path for it.
I'm confused a bit on Oracle SOA Foundation Practitioner Exam and Oracle Service Oriented Architecture Infrastructure Implementation Certified Expert.
Are these two diff certification programmes?
Passing IZ0-451 gives us what certificate of the two mentioned, and how to get the other one?
Oracle Site (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1080544&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_451) says the associated certificate is Oracle Service Oriented Architecture Infrastructure Implementation Certified Expert. Does this mean passing IZ0-451 fetches us this?

    ThelakYou should visit
    http://certification.oracle.com
and browse the site there, particularly Preaparation / Steps to becoming certified
This will give you the information you need, including codes for developer and DBA exams.
    - In general you should go for newer exams at higher Oracle Versions where there is an equivalent choice.
    - Perhaps one exception may for some be DBA or other certifications with a traning component where the availability/cost of such training may be a decider.

  • 1Z0-043 preparation - Security part?

    Hi,
I'm preparing for OCP 10g Certification. Now i'm a bit cunfused about the topics. I bought serveral books for preparation and all of theses books have a chapter with "Configuring Security for the Listener" and Database Security (TDE, Data Pump encryption, VPD and so on) but Oracle Education website states that these are not part of the exam.
As we are not using encryption features, I would like to skip this part. Does anybody know if the mentioned topics are part of the exam?
    Thanks in advance

First congrats on being OCA and welcome to OTN forums. I don't think that there is any restriction for using the OCA logo provided you have got it from official OCA site. This requires a user name and password to be used to download the authentic logo from Oracle which will come only with your success kit. So technically speaking, if you have passed OCA , you can very well use the logo but ethically speaking, you should wait for the success kit to arrive containing your user name and password to download it.
For the OCP prepparation, the exam contents are here,
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_043
Looking at them , you should start your preparation. About the reference material, these two books should be helpful if you don't hav Oracle Univ book.

To my Pompey English 'Appear' means 'To turn up for'.  If I take 'appear' to mean 'pass' then I will answer that:

Your 1z0-007 will count as a qualifying exam for SQL ... reference: https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_05
You are strongly advised to consider the implications of the upcoming 10g exam retirements ... https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1060_01
If particular if you are intending to submit 10g training towards DBA OCP training that training will only count towards a 10g DBA OCP certification; the 1z0-043 needing to be passed by the march cutoff date in 2015.  If you get 10g DBA OCA and then need to achieve DBA certification via 1z0-34/1z0-067 you will need to satisfy the training requirement for those exams; which may mean you might need to attend additional training.

  • 1z0-050_ Oracle Database 11g: New Features for Administrators

    Hi all.
    I' ve passed 1z0-043 (for OCP10g).
Is it possible to try/pass 1z0-050 BEFORE obtaining OCP10g (through completion of one of the approved course + the course submission form approval)?
PearsonVue seems to allow the 1z0-050 schedule.

Is it possible to try/pass 1z0-050 BEFORE obtaining OCP10gYes. You won't get the certification until you have met all of the requirements, but it is possible to take the upgrade test without being 10G certified. If there's a big enough delay between passing 1Z0-050 and getting your 10G certification, I would not be shocked if you ended up having to open up an SR to request your certificate.
To be clear, I would expect that they'd notice the 050 and send the cert at the same time as your 10G OCP, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did not.
