After 4.0.5 Update, Bridge Fails To Open

When I logged in my pc I got a message saying htere were updates to my Adobe products, one for LR3 and one for Bridge. I did the install and LR3 works just fine but Bridge will not open...
I get the message - "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click Ok to close the application"
I rebooted etc but to no avail. I don't see Bridge in the list of programs in the control panel which is not a good sign. How do I fix or reinstall? I used my PS CS5 disk to do the install but don't see Bridge listed as a component option. I don't recall, does it install by default? I'm wondering if I resintall PS CS5 I will lose my plug-ins etc.
I don;t use Bridge all that often but it irritates me that it's not working (I'm anal).

I didn't delete the folder straightaway, I renamed it temporarily until I validated that the replacement folder did the trick. Then I deleted it.
Using a Win restore point would have probably worked but I have it shut off. I've had problems in the past with restoring causing more harm than good and I have an SSD so I keep unnecessary writes to the OS drive at a minimum. I image my SSD incrementally a few times a week so I don't really need it anyway.
Thanks. Hopefully all of this is helpful to someone else in the future.

    Hi jepekl01,
Please check the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1i210-installing-updates-ccm.html
I have also seen that deleting the ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/ directory has fixed the issue for few users.

  • After 10.4.11 update, Safari will not open

After I made the 10.4.11 update, Safari will not open. When I clic its icon in the Applications folder, just nothing happens. On the attempt to start the program from Terminal, I get the following:
    $ /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
    dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/vmutils.framework/Versions/A/vmutils
    Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Syndication.framework/Versions/A/Syndication

In fact, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks has no subdirectory vmutils.framework. Thus it seems that some essential system files are missing. What to do?

Hello Kai and welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Might be a corrupted Safari preference file.. try this: Locate this file: com.apple.safari.plist
It's here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Now try to launch Safari. If it works, don't forget to click on the icon in your Dock, then click, "Keep in Dock".

  • CS5 - Why Bridge fails to open?

I have CS5 installed on my MacBook Pro as well as Lightroom 3 Beta. When I run CS5 and try to Browse in Bridge the BR icon indicate that the program is being loaded and shortly after an error message from Bridge appears with the following information:
"The operation could not be completed" and nothing else. Right now my CS5 is a waste of money as I cannot use Bridge in my work.
Please can anyone help me with hints or suggestions to get things running again?
    Cheers
    Vikingo

Come to think of it, could it be related to the license of CS5 being tied down to one of the user accounts?
While I always understood the license is for the computer itself it is possible to have multiple accounts running and also multiple versions of Photoshop open on either one or multiple accounts. However Bridge is not capable in doing so. You can have only one version of Bridge active on your account. So check the other account (if you have them both logged in) and see if Bridge is still active. If so, close it and try again.
And Bridge is also critical on permissions so do a check and repair permissions for your user account. In the past there have been many solutions for troubles with Bridge by using an archive and install for the user account.

  • After iTunes 7.6 update:  QuickTime failed to initialize (error -2096

"QuickTime failed to initialize (error -2096).
QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes."
After upgrading to iTunes 7.6 this morning, I get this error when trying to run iTunes or Quicktime. I was using the Apple Updater. I got no errors when running the installer.
I downloaded the 7.6 setup file and attempted to repair the install. I still receive the same error.
There is an article indicating that turning off Compatibility mode would resolve this issue, but Compatibility mode is not turned on for iTues or QuickTime.
The same issue is discussed in the Quicktime forum, here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6400305
I am running on Windows 2003.
Note I had iTunes open earlier today, and it was working fine. It was only when I upgraded to 7.6 (I think I was at 7.4 before. It was definetly 7.something).

Thanks for this discussion and I hope Apple fixes this soon. It took me forever but installing QT 7.2 and installing the less recent itunes update from filehippo finally resolved it for me. Of course the reason it took me forever was that every time I reinstalled itunes, I was using the default setting that was updating QT & Apple also (in hindsight it sounds really dumb, but no one had mentioned that).
This is the first itunes update that has ever gone wrong for me - I've used itunes for 5 yrs (my 1st ipod was a 2nd gen touch wheel). I wonder if some MS developers went to work at Apple to exact revenge...?

  • After 10.4.4 Update Flash Failes To Load In All Browsers!

Has anybody experienced this problem?, Safari failed to load pluggin. even in IE, firefox and Opera no flash loads. Is there a fix for this? I have also downloaed the plugins and have re installed them varius times, and still no go. Its getting really anoying?

    Hi, Brian.
One other thing I should point out: I also have
QuickTime 7.0.4 and the latest Flash player and have
not had a problem with either. Again, I'd be very
interested in knowing what led you to conclude QT
7.0.4 was causing the problem with Flash.
If it turns out that QT 7.0.4 was not the problem,
i.e. if the problem recurs after removing QT 7.0.4
using the reinstaller you cited, let me know as I
saved the other list of analysis and suggestions I'd
    planned to post.
    Thanks!
    Good luck!

  • After iOS 8.3 update, apps stuck on OPEN on App Store Updates page

Did the iOS 8.3 update by backing up my iPad Mini in iTunes then doing a "Restore". I did that with the last update and all went fine. This time, it appears to have gone well except that I had some apps that had updates pending after the Restore. After doing the updates, when I go to the App Store "Updates" page, I still have 4 of my apps listed there with the button option set to OPEN. On the upper right corner it says "Updated August 18, 2015". Yesterday when I did the update was Saturday April 25, 2015 - go figure. When I tap them they all open but they never leave the page. One post said to wait until an app had a valid update pending and see what happens after I update it, so I'll need to wait to see if that works. I have searched this community and tried all suggestions: changed the date set to manual and push it out over 30 days. That did not work. Did a reset. No luck. I even did another "Restore" thinking maybe that would resolve it, but they came right back. The puzzling thing is that in all of my searching, I have found apps stuck in differing states of "waiting" or "downloading", but none of them have mentioned seeing the apps with the OPEN option visible. I did delete the apps and that made them go away, but I'd prefer to keep them. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance...slog

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

I just downloaded the iTunes 10.6 update and now my iTunes will not open. The icon in my dock will jump a few times, as if the program were opening, but then nothing happens. Any fixes?

I am having exactly the same problem. More specifically, after not loading, it comes up with the following message:

  • After windows 8.1 update catalog can not open due to unexpected error

after my windows update the lightroom app will not open. i'm not tech savvy at all and don't know what to do to have this taken care of and being that I bought the product 112 days ago and not 90 or less I cannot speak to someone directly to help with the issue please help anyone if you can.

Try holding down the Ctrl (Win) / Command (Mac) key while launching Lightroom. This should get you the Catalog Manager. From here, create a new catalog and see if that opens. If it does, import your old catalog into it and it will most likely continue to work after that.

  • After installing Java 6 update 11, unable to open .jnlp files.

Java is notoriously responsible for many vulnerabilities, if you must run it then these are the instructions:
    Turning on Java
Why will Applets not run after getting Java through Apple Software Update?
Apple disables the Java plug-in and Webstart applications when the Java update is done using Software Update. Also, if the Java plug-in detects that no applets have been run for an extended period of time it will again disable the Java plug-in.
    To enable the Java plug-in
Go to Finder > Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.
In the Java Preferences window check the box for Enable Applet plug-in and Webstart applications.
    Installing and updating Java
I DO NOT have Mac version 10.7.3 (Lion) or higher. How do I get Java for other Mac versions?
For Java versions 6 and below, Apple supplies their own version of Java. Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Apple's Java for your Mac.
I DO have Mac version 10.7.3 (Lion) or higher.
Users of Lion Mac OS X 10.7.1 and 10.7.2 should upgrade to 10.7.3 or later versions via Software Update, so you can get the latest Java 7 version from Oracle.
    Download page here:
    https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp#mac
Why is Java 7 available only for Mac OS X 10.7.3 and above?
The Java Runtime depends on the availability of an Application programming interface (API). Some of the API were added in Mac OS X 10.7.3. Apple has no plans to make those API available on older versions of the Mac OS.
